Welcome to another lovely episode of Dial the Wild Podcast. I am Travis and this is Seth. I am not Travis, he is not Travis, he is Seth. And we're just like you know what. We're going to stay on point today. We've got our list of things we want to talk about podcast. Blah, blah, blah. And then he goes well, let me put on this video. And I was like okay, because sometimes we'll put on a ball game or something while we're podcasting and we kind of get sidetracked or get you know. But then seth is like I got you and he puts on this freaking ocean video that they have on YouTube and we're just watching this tortoise freaking swim around and eat fish and it's quite possibly the coolest thing I've ever seen. Well, you know, he's got like a porpoise on his back or is that a shark? Those are, those are. They're kind of like sucker fish, but they look like sharks. I guess that's cool as hell. Anyways, yeah, I don't think this has helped. Well, no, but you know, usually having cats, I'll turn on something just to entertain myself, because I like it when they run back and forth trying to attack the tv screen. Dude, he's like in an ocean tree, just chilling he is. I like that. Anyways, so much has happened since you and I got the podcast Came out with the new series with Legendary Luke's Cigar Club where we enjoy a little scotch, enjoy a little whiskey, enjoy a good stogie, exchange and share stories with really cool people.
Speaker 1:Gotta love a good stogie. I just I really enjoy going there. My only problem with stogies is you just can't get the smell off of you. Yeah, some days, yeah, it just depends on how you do it. It's a lot of time in your clothes. Usually you just gotta wash your clothes. But no, it's been a good podcast, just good stories. And it's just us guys sitting around being guys and somebody hit record. It's not really scripted or nobody really knows what's gonna happen once we hit the record button.
Speaker 1:But yeah, having having luke young and you know legendary luke's, and then having caleb kiram from the, from the ritz there to um, you know, just tell stories and stuff, you know he's like a jedi master of like 15 different martial arts and he owns a bar, so obviously he's seen some things. His own personal bouncer, yep. And then this last one we had andrew, uh, andrew, who is Dr Mixology, who was running to be in that magazine here not too long ago and we were trying to push some votes for him, and he's a really cool guy. He's seen a lot of cool stuff too and he mixes a lot of cool drinks. I mean, these guys have a cool outlook on alcohol. You know it's not like, well, well, let's pound a case of beer. It's like, hey, sit down and enjoy this, tell me what you like about it and let's let's walk through this. If you don't like it, well, try this instead. And I think there's an app somewhere where you can pair well, no, you can pair like beer beers with different foods and stuff, and wine is big with wine too. I've I've been wanting to try that. It sounds like an interesting thing, but it also sounds expensive. But yeah, it's been a lot of fun getting with them guys and putting out a few episodes, so that'll be cool to to have out there for folks to check out.
Speaker 1:Um, what else has gone on since our last podcast? When was our last podcast? I don't even know. I don't know either. We just got the new beer review out today. So New beer here. So we haven't done one of those in a while. That was nice to get one of them out. Uh, also, stevie Mo has got um. Him and his other buddy, steve, I believe is Steve Dearborn oh, has got him and his other buddy, steve I believe it's Steve Dearborn have their Two Fat Steve's channel out now, which is a cooking and smoking and it's a really cool channel that they got going. I'm really happy that those guys got together to pull that off. So, if you are on social media or YouTube or wherever you're at Two Fat Steve's I believe the fat is spelled P, h a T but, uh, they got some really cool grilling and and cooking ideas that they've gotten together and and and worked on.
Speaker 1:So, what about you? What do you got? All right, so I'm, oh, I've just passed the big one. Yeah, I'm doing this thing. So I'm, oh, I've just passed a big one. Yeah, I'm doing this thing. So I'm going to start Seth's Instagram corner. Okay, is it like a rapid fire? You have X amount of seconds to get through it? Sure, I like that. We can set a timer for it. I like where we're going with this. Okay, I got a stopwatch. You got how many stories you think? Guestimate? We'll start one, two. Hmm, we'll go. We'll go, maybe four. Okay, we'll go four stories, what do you think? A minute to get through them? Sure, okay and go. Story one All right. Story one All right. Story one Anderson I don't know how to pronounce his last name. He was the original singer for Slipknot. He re-recorded all of Slipknot's Mate Feed, kill, repeat with a new band yes, the original lineup at the time. So that was pretty cool. That happened, I don was pretty cool, that happened. Uh, I don't. They also got their new drummer.
Speaker 1:Oh, this was wrestling basketball, what it's. You play basketball, mma basketball, and I think it's like you can only suplex people, that's if you're behind them or something. All right, what's next anyway? Uh, high hockey, but also football. It's just football. But you're on ice that is football, literally on skates, yeah. And you're in hockey that is football, literally on skates, yeah, and you're in hockey gear and you throw football. These are the things that are happening. And you actually kick the field goal. Okay, last one, he fell. That was hilarious. Okay, derrick Henry, derrick Henry going to the Ravens. That's probably one of the scariest things that has happened since our last Lamar Jackson. And, and, yeah, derrick Henry in the same backfield.
Speaker 1:That's a minute and that's a minute. Hey, I think we covered that, for I thought that was pretty good. All right, and we still have more stories for next time. All right, stay tuned. All right, I like where this is going and then I'm gonna have to give you access to the Instagram, so so, basically, how it works, okay, is I find something interesting and then I send it to the Dial the Wild Instagram and that's how I use that, or maybe I'll just make a meme out of it or something you could probably do that. Yeah, people will be like oh, that's what he was, that's from the podcast. Oh, that guy, and you know, if you guys have Some weird Instagram stuff, maybe we will bring it up next time. Visit in the Dial the Wild Instagram hour minute Instagram hour. We'll work on the name.
Speaker 1:You have an opportunity to influence a whole minute, a whole minute Of Dial the Wild podcast, which isn't true at all. If you've got a good idea or you got something you want out there, all you got to do is holler at me, just like Erica Durr not too long ago did a podcast with Erica. She had this big autism walk awareness walk that went through town Jess and I was part of here this last weekend awareness walk that went through town Jess and I was part of here this last weekend and it was a great time and it it was a good episode. I was, I was happy with it and we got through a lot and we got to talk about, uh, what was going on and with the event and, um, her experience with having children with autism and, and that's you know, with with our family, that's close to our heart because we have family that I'm not going to say suffer, but um, deal with the struggles of autism on a daily basis. So, um, it was a good episode. So, if you've got any ideas or you want something you want to talk about, or you got something you want out there, let me know. I'm, I'm easy, bro, you know, even if it's a meme, we might, we might, just, we might talk about it. If it's funny enough, we'll bring it up. For sure, yes, for sure, anyways.
Speaker 1:Uh, what else has happened since our last the men's and women's ncaa ncaa tournament for basketball had ended? We watched, uh, caitlin clark come up just short of winning a national title, but she got drafted number one overall to the WNBA. Now, do you think that's falling short on her part or do you think that's a team effort. No, it was pretty obvious that that South Carolina team that beat Iowa was a far and away better team. The miracle of Kaitlin Clark had lasted so long that it wasn't going to overcome that team. I think at one point they showed don't quote me on this but at one point in that game they had showed the minutes and, like the five starters for iowa had played almost all but a few seconds of the whole game. This was like third quarter because of college basketball, uh, the, the women go four quarters still while the guys still have two halves. So, um, in the third quarter most of iowa starters had played like most to all of the game, and there was zero bench points, people coming off the bench and scoring points for Iowa. There was zero, I think in the third quarter, at least up to halftime, I know. And then I want to say South Carolina had like 30 bench points, so they were just a big, deep team. Um, that's always probably the hardest part to get about it.
Speaker 1:It was a good year for women's basketball and women's sports and I'm really happy. It makes my heart happy having two daughters that are going to come up playing sports, men's basketball. It was pretty clear what was going to happen in men's basketball because UConn just ran roughshod through the tournament. If anybody was watching it's still on the YouTube channel. I filled out a bracket solely based on throwing darts at a dartboard and I got last place in that league. So dart theory is definitely out the window. Uh, we'll probably do it again next year, just because it was so much fun trying to fill out a bracket hitting something with darts. But, um, yeah, let's, let's not go. Let's, let's not go there anyways.
Speaker 1:Uh, uconn was gonna do its thing. They were just over and above the best team in the country all year long. It broke my heart to see them beat Illinois the way that they did. I want to say they went on a 30-0 run in the second half, the start to second half. So Illinois was hanging in there with the best team in the country and then came out and just got their teeth knocked in second half. But that's sports, that's why we play the game. You just hope that tomorrow is a better day.
Speaker 1:Strategies in one moment. This was just my theory. Kaitlyn Clark was going to go to the WNBA. She was going to have a couple good years, maybe stick it out four or five or six years, retire and then the way that NIL is going with paying coaches and paying athletes and everything with the budgets they have, she'll make more money going back to college basketball and becoming a coach than she ever will playing in a professional sport. Yeah, which is not true. She could go to big three and make five million. She could go play for, uh, ice cube over Big Three. But that's enough about basketball.
Speaker 1:The Masters was freaking amazing. Scotty Scheffler came back and absolutely dominated to win his second gold jacket. Gold jacket, green jacket who gives a shit, come back and win his second green jacket. It was really cool. I was actually officiating JFL flag football at the time, but we were trying to catch up with it and we're like where the hell did Scotty come from? And he's like well, he came back to win. Well, apparently, you know, dechambeau fortunately fell off the board and he was one of the only live golf guys that was making any any noise.
Speaker 1:So it makes you think the format that the live guys are playing. They're making a lot of money and they're playing three rounds instead of four and they're doing a shotgun star and they've got this music going on at the same time. It's more of a, you know, fun professional golfing atmosphere. Maybe they got rattled a little bit coming back to PGA type golf. You got to play another round. That's that much headache. That's that much heartache. It's that much crap that you have to get through in a day that you have to be that much more mentally stable. You know, because I thought it was absolutely nuts that almost none of the almost none of the guys from live tour came over and competed at the masters huh, and it's one of the few events that you know pga and and the live guys can compete at at the same time. So I thought it was cool to watch Scotty win another one.
Speaker 1:He's on pace. I think he's only 26 or something. Scotty Scheffler Well, come on Google, I figured it out, but I think he's like 26 and he's won two Masters. And people are starting and you know I'm not going to get the cart ahead of the horse here, but people are having Tiger-like comparisons. From what I've heard, tiger's been making a comeback. He played, he just his last round at the Masters was absolutely atrocious, like embarrassingly bad, but he's still there. He's still doing the damn thing.
Speaker 1:So 27 yeah, just turned 20. Well, he's turning 27. No, he is 27, okay, so he's 27 years old. He's won two masters. That's pretty good resume. But people will probably also say, well, half of the good golfers in the world are at live golf right now. So how can you say he's as good as he is? Well, because live just came over and played PGA or PGA style at the masters and got it handed to him. So the verdict is out there. I you know.
Speaker 1:So how do contracts work? The verdict is out there. So how do contracts work? From what I know, I just know how it works. In the NFL or in the NBA, there's free agents. There's regular signed players. For golf, yeah, for golf. Okay, so there is no contracts for PGA Golf to come and play the tour. You actually have to, unlike other sports where you just declare to be a professional and you pay your money and you get your pro card and then you go and play with the pros whether you're good or not. You actually have to play or earn your way up to professional status in golf. And, yes, there are contracts in clubs. There are contracts in grips. There are contracts in clothes, hats, sunglasses, rolexes yeah, brand deals, the kind of balls you use the shoes that are on your feet. There are those endorsement contracts you can get out of PGA Golf but the only money you technically win in PGA Golf is the money that you win.
Speaker 1:You have to make a cut. So you play a couple days. Top half of the field it's usually like top half of the field gets to stay and play the second two days. The other half of the field goes home, no check. But there's a purse like. If it says kind of like our 20 kind of archery, you shoot every day but you don't go to many archery tournaments where you shoot for four days, that would be absolutely dreadful. If it says it's got like a 20 million dollar purse for a tournament, that means the winner is probably getting like 12, 15, 800,000, 600,000, and then a handful of like 20, $30,000 checks and so you have to make the cut to get a check. Live golf there's like I got 300 mil come play for me. So a lot of guys are like, okay, I'm going with that guy. Yeah, you know, they're just handing out money left and right for guys to come and play golf, which it's cool because obviously the pga was making a lot of money off these guys for a really long time and it wasn't reciprocated. But you're kind of hampering the game.
Speaker 1:Like, think about having two nfl leagues, not nflFL, I'm talking two NFL leagues playing the exact same time of the year, basically like USFL tried to do it in the 80s when Donald Trump ran it NFL and AFL yeah, before they united. But like USFL was a thing in the 80s and it was really good and guys were actually taking drafted NFL, guys were actually taking um drafted nfl, guys were taking, uh, their picks from the draft from the usfl. You know, doug fluties and the herschel walkers and some of those guys were taking contracts with usfl instead of going to the nfl. And everybody thought it was absolutely absurd. Well, it was because n NFL was really the only thing that existed and worked at the time. And then once they got greedy and I only know this from 30 for 30, but once they got greedy and said we're going to put this at the same time of the year as the NFL because we think we can do it, uh, they, they were gone in a year. You know, if they had just stayed in the off season they would have been fine, but it is what it is and, you know, is this going to be a good thing for golf? Are they going to eventually merge with a format they all agree on? I, who knows, it's the, it's up in the air, but it's interesting conversation, okay, yeah, I did do that.
Speaker 1:The uh, flag football, flag football, dude, those kids were so much fun. I I went with my buddy, uh, andy coats, up to pekin and we reffed like four games in an afternoon and I got absolutely fried. It was like the first nice day of the year and I just got smoked out in the middle of the football field, not in a way that I remember being smoked, which is usually like up downs. Yeah, I was out there literally getting fried by the sun. But it was really funny because I had one kid come up to me. He's like hey, ref. I was like, yeah, uh, this guy over here is talking. I was like, yeah, is he saying anything profane or mean or out of line? No, or mean or out of line, no, he's just talking a lot. He's like, okay, I'll, uh, I'll watch him. It was okay, thanks. I said, oh, yeah, hey, uh, young man, he goes. Yeah, it's a, make sure you're behind a line of scrimmage next time you throw the ball down the field. And he just looked at me like as scatterbrained as a dude could, like he'd just seen a ghost is like, yeah, I could have called it. Yep, just saying. But I was back behind the offense and andy was on the line of scrimmage and he said it was really close, but I think he got it off before he got completely across the line of scrimmage. So it's always fun, um, going out there and being with the kids, uh, watching some football, other than I had to miss the Masters at the time.
Speaker 1:Flag football where I was at Refn that day and some of the leagues that are up around the Peoria area, wasn't like flag football. We had growing up when it was like put on some flags and do some flips into the end zone and tackle each other and be jerks and blah, blah, blah. It's legit seven on seven football. You're just wearing flags. Yeah, anyways, it gets crazy. You were talking about, yeah, women's sports.
Speaker 1:Women's flag football is apparently on a big rise as well, like I've seen it everywhere. I've seen it sometimes in advertising. They had well, we're, they had several announced draft picks this season. We're starting to see a lot of female referees in the game. You see a handful of female referees in the game, and then you see a handful of female coaches, like managerial staff and stuff, and yeah, there's a female shift in in the National Football League. Uh, do we ever get to the place where women are playing professional football? I don't know. Um, that's a debate for another day. Not trying to be anti-female here, but it's. You know, I, I, I, I would hate to. I'd hate to see somebody get hurt. I guess is my main thing. Yeah so, but you know with which leads us to the next one nfl rule changes. Yeah, I mean the way that a lot of people really want to push out. There is, the nfl is just turning into flag football. Blah, blah, blah. They're getting soft, they're getting soft.
Speaker 1:Hit, hit, hit. What's the new tackle rule? Oh, that you can't do a hip drop tackle, hip drop tackle and that's more or less just grabbing somebody and sliding to the side and doing a butt plop on the ground. For a lot of those smaller guys, that's the only way to take down the 6'5 receiver. Yeah, there's no way you're taking derrick henry down. If you're that size well, think about like six foot, 180 pounds you're not taking derrick henry down by normal means. Well, think about. I mean, you've told these defensive backs that there's rules to protect a wide receiver, and I don't disagree with that at all, but there is defenseless receiver where you can't just hit the guy. To hit the guy, you have to make a football move. But I'm starting to see now we're in college and pro football guys are making a football move and it's a penalty of some sort. So it is a gray area and a fine line as to what's still the I don't want to say the integrity of the game, but you still want to see football be as safe while it's still as violent as I enjoy.
Speaker 1:I enjoy the violence of it. I do, everybody does. That's why you play the game. That's why you watch the game. Okay, I can't speak for most people because I'm not most people, but a lot of people tell you they don't watch hockey for strategy in hockey. What are they watching them for? They're watching for the fights. They're watching for the fights. Okay, a lot of people that don't like NASCAR will sit through a NASCAR race. Why A lot of people that don't like NASCAR will sit through a NASCAR race? They want to see a wreck. They want to see a wreck. People want violence. That's unfortunate, but that's how it is. Really, I don't think there's anything wrong with a little bit of healthy violence. I mean, yeah, we watch MMA and UFC, we watch WWE and wrestling. There's no sport that isn't violent. And, yes, it is scripted. Wwe. Besides, maybe curling and professional wrestling is scripted, but it is not fake. People are literally.
Speaker 1:I've been watching a lot of like the Chris Benoit and the Eddie Guerrero stuff. I mean, a saw what happened with. Yeah, they're not actually striking each other, but they are still hitting each other. You're going there to watch two full-grown men throw each other across a slab, or women what was her name? A slab of plywood and canvas. You know that is still violence. Rhea Ripley, rhea Ripley yeah, wrestle Mommy. That's what we call her Wrestle Mommy. And then there's a wrestler. Now that's or the man, the man, the man, the myth, the legend. But people are into violence. That's why you watch football. You want to see that guy catch that ball. That's why you watch football. You want to see that guy catch that ball. That's why you watch John Wick, that's why you watch yes, that's why you go to demo derbies and watch cars run into each other.
Speaker 1:People are like I am all about peace, I do not like violence. Chick, you just got done watching like I don't know General Hospital or some crap on TV where these girls got beef. And you know it's coming down to something at some point. Don't act like that drama is going to end peacefully. Every time they got a crush on this ghostly masked killer that's running around, oh, he's got a mask. It's so mysterious and it goes back. Please, people don't be offended. Like the days of the gladiators, they were throwing people in a pit with with swords and pitchforks and spears, with lions and shit chasing around, because they wanted to see people get torn apart. Like, yeah, they wanted to see people get torn apart. So you're not weird for liking that kind of thing.
Speaker 1:This is how we're wired. You know why? Because I don't want to get punched in the face. I want to see someone else. I don't want to get ran over by derrick henry when he's carrying a football because he's making millions of dollars to be a really big person to be able, but I want to watch him do it to somebody else watching him just toss josh norman across the field entertaining with one arm. He can make you feel stupid.
Speaker 1:That's why we watch mma and ufc ronnie, watch these two people, and we've made that sport as safe as we can while still making as violent as possible. Because you still have to stay in a weight class, you still have to follow a certain set of rules, you still have to respect the ownership and the other fighters. You can't just go out there and and like try to gnaw each other's nose off or something like there's still there are. They're very strict with their rules. We like violence. We're wired that way. Not everybody there's.
Speaker 1:Somebody out there's just like I could do without it and, yes, more power to you and get off the violence. Yeah, well, I can watch. Yeah, I've always been the kind of person. I can watch the Saw movies, but I could do without like the first 30 minutes of him just maiming and tearing people apart yeah, but I enjoyed the storylines and then a little bit of violence. That's why you watch scary movies, people. You want to see somebody stabbed. Yeah, you know. So don't make us feel weird.
Speaker 1:For like a professional sports for its violence, but at the same time, movies are acting. It's fake, it's not real. You still listen to your serial killer podcast. Don't get me wrong True crime, and they're still trying to do what they can within sports, with professional wrestling, with football, with MMA. These are violent, violent sports and they're still trying to keep it within a certain realm of rules so that people are going to get hurt. But it's not fatal, you know. So it's a violent sport.
Speaker 1:They know it, they go into it doing it. Well, it's a reason. The sport they make, the money they make, and I get it there's always that worry they get hurt. We've seen what happened with aaron hernandez. We've seen what's happened with a number of other football players eddie guerrero, we've seen what happened with chris benoit. Alex smith was probably one of the better outcomes of that, but still he still shatters entirely. Cte is a real thing, depression is still a real thing and they're, and then substance abuse and several other factors go into that and you've got a recipe for disaster. It does not bring discredit to the sport itself, it's just how the game is played.
Speaker 1:But for other rule changes, for other rule changes, the new kickoff is awesome. I think it's awesome. I think they just brought back the kickoff is awesome. I think it's awesome. I think they just brought back the kickoff in the NFL. I want to see it. I want to see it. You can Go watch last year's XFL. That's where they adopted the rule from. They started that. I don't know, this sea turtle is pretty majestic we will watch it later.
Speaker 1:But anyways, you can have a certain enough, certain number of guys, certain amount of people on parts of the field and they kick it to you and the guy actually has a chance to return it. It's not to say that there wasn't a chance already, but you know special teams. People don't go to the nfl match match game to watch special team but at the same time you don't want to take jobs away from those guys. It's still a craft and it's still an art. It's. Yeah, there's still a lot that goes in. I still want to see justin tucker hit a 70 yarder, you know. I still want to see whoever's punting for the billsills coffin corner somebody. I still want to see someone like Devin Hester-esque return like 500 touchdowns. You got to think like Cordero Patterson's, like you got to shoot me man. They're going to bring this back and I'm at the tail end of my career. That's a bull man. He had a pretty, I don't know. Ufc Patterson's a different one.
Speaker 1:Speaking of UFC, we have, first, one last rule. Oh, we have one more. One last rule. Okay, they introduced the idea that you can wear helmet caps, helmet covers, helmet covers like how you wear in practice. If your school has money, um, the they're sort of they just go over your helmet. It's a little itty bitty pads that sit there. I mean it's I don't, I don't hate it it. They look goofy, I guess, but if it's another way to protect your brain, I don't see any harm in it. It's not gonna be effective or anything. Probably a smart thing to do. It just doesn't pass the eye test because it looks so weird on a football helmet. Plus, it'll cover up the cool designs of the helmets which they just established that you can have a third helmet design.
Speaker 1:Now, don't get me wrong. If you're anyway anywhere away from the actual game itself, you should probably be wearing one of these. But are they going to wear it during games? I don't know. Like I said, it doesn't pass the eye test, but that's not what matters at the end of the day. It's an option, but it's not required as of now and maybe the skill positions will say we don't want to wear the damn thing. We're trying to be fast and the linemen will all be like we should probably wear one and the linebackers will be like, uh, we should definitely probably wear one. But you know, yeah, give one to mike williams. I think when that chunk of helmet was missing on Patrick Mahomes during the playoffs this last year, he probably would have loved to have one on. Yeah, they'll probably. At some point they'll probably enforce that for quarterbacks, the actual game where people lost fingers and toes. Yeah, ronnie Lott ripped his own finger off just to keep playing. No, I'm talking about that playoff game just last year. That was like 10 below. Oh. Yeah, people were out there with no shirts and stuff on. They were losing fingers and toes and everything else. Yeah, people are dumb. Anyway, ufc, ufc 300 was amazing.
Speaker 1:That fight between Justin Gaethje and Matt Holloway was one of the coolest things I'd seen in in in MMA history and I've watched almost all of them. Uh, dad wasn't a big fan of of WWF growing up or WCW, so he turned us on to UFC and the way UFC was structured early on was it was a bracketed fight and they'd come in there and any person any size could go in there and beat the shit out of each other and the winner at the end of the night was the guy that won after three or four fights in a bracket. So, um, starting from that to where we are now, it's much more structured, it's more safe. Yeah, I didn't realize, like the time gap between fights. Yes, that is very expansive in my brain. So here we are and we're watching, just engaging in max holloway, and they're fighting for the, the bmf title. So they go through the whole fight.
Speaker 1:At one point, halloway got his heel on gaethje's nose and just oh, destroyed it. And gaethje I it just showed the toughness of the dude. I mean, his mouth is wide open the whole fight. He can't breathe, he's constantly spitting and snorting out blood, his eyes are messed up, he can't see anything. And so, you know, at the very end of the fight, he starts doing some weird flip kicks and stuff like that, trying to catch him off guard. And Holloway literally points at him and points at the middle of the octagon, points at the ground, said no, we're going to finish this right here in the middle, and with like 10 seconds left, these guys just start throwing haymakers at each other. I think I saw videos. And then gaethje, with one second left just folds, like max just absolutely dominated him and it was one of the coolest fights I had seen in a long time.
Speaker 1:You gotta love it when they just it has to be a fantastic finish. I'm not gonna. I mean, I've had michael field on here and stuff, and I am not ever going to talk anything against jujitsu because it is a weird game of folding laundry with people still inside the clothes. You know I've said that before, but that's the best way I've ever heard it explained. But there is something to be said for two guys. I want to stand up and brawl, yeah, like a whole freaking fight. I just, yeah, you just want to watch them, you know, and old school drunken boxing and we're back to violence. You know we don't want to be part of a bar fight, but we want to be there when it goes off, yeah. So I thought that was cool.
Speaker 1:And then we had WrestleMania, which was amazing. Cody Rhodes finally got the belt showing, you know, his dad old glory that he finally broke Roman Reigns streak of being the heavyweight champ, and then Bailey got her belt and just a lot of cool stuff happened at WrestleMania this year and it was the coolest damn thing when you're watching that main event and then all of a sudden outcomes. John Cena, you know it was like what the hell's going on, you know. And then the rock comes out and haven't seen it. You know they had beef for a long time. And then the rock comes out and heaven, cena, you know they had beef for a long time. But then the rock takes out, cena. Then all of a sudden you hear the undertaker's gong and the whole, and the lights go out. You're just like no, and I started screaming while carly was just like what are you so excited about? It's like he's better. I mean, he was the coolest guy growing up. He always, always is, yeah. And so he makes an appearance at WrestleMania and he's there for like five seconds to pick up and chokeslam the rock and then he turned off the lights and he's gone again.
Speaker 1:Whoa, it's so scripted and goofy and cheesy, but it's so fun to watch, so cool. To me, wrestlemania is kind of like If you follow the storyline, you can get real invested in it and it's really entertaining. Yes and no, like I said, I've gone to some local wrestling stuff and it's a lot of fun. But to me, even if you're someone Because you're going to have your people that won Not wrestling. It's fake, it's scripted. Because you're going to have your people that won not wrestling. It's fake, it's scripted, it's stupid. I don't like it. I don't want to watch it. Okay, get you good Bye.
Speaker 1:Then you got your diehards. They know every storyline about every person. They know every character they ever played their best era, their best era. They have all the action figures. They remember certain fights. They've got the ring, the little tiny ring you put all your fingers in. They were all about it.
Speaker 1:And then there's people like me, right in the middle of the road. I appreciate it, but no, I'm not going to do it. Yeah, exactly, but to me I'm like that person that doesn't watch football but watches the Super Bowl every year. So I don't watch a whole lot of wrestling throughout the year, but I watch WrestleMania because you get caught up on the storylines and you see the amount of production and time and work. And ever since they've given the company back to Triple H and Stephanie and kind of phased Vince out of the picture. No, we won't. We won't speak on Vince. I mean, they brought back CM Punk. They've created that storyline for wrestlemania. That was amazing and uh, okay, I'm done with professional wrestling, but it was a lot of fun to watch you.
Speaker 1:Just, even if it's not your thing and I say this all the time on the show if it's not your thing, but you see people put work into it and enjoy it and it makes them tick and it makes them excited, then that makes me excited like I want to go be part of it. Now, you know I there's. Don't hate on it just because you don't and you don't get it. You don't understand. Don't hate it. Just walk away, go with it. Just if you don't like it, just leave it. It's fine. It's like listening to. Don't need to put music around people. It's people like okay, that's, that's nice, but I don't want to listen to it. It's not my thing. Not my thing. You know metalheads. It's not really scary. They'll understand that shit off.
Speaker 1:Someone stabbed him in the throat with a. There are some guys sounds like your brother and your sister fighting and someone got a cat by the tail swinging it above their head, while some guys are sons of biatches. Yeah, okay, dad, we get it. You don't like it. He likes drums. He likes the drums. So yeah, tell me, he likes double kick bass.
Speaker 1:Needless to say, we've come a little ways in our open mindedness. Being open really opens up To a lot of things. It's really cool. So thanks again for tuning in and listening to this. We've had a lot of fun with this. A lot of cool things have gone on and we haven't really had a chance to get together and cover it.
