Speaker 3:I'm here baby hell yeah, another lovely episode of dial the wild podcast. We are sitting in the ritz in macomb, illinois, with our good friend caleb kieran, and I got seth here with me and we got sean over here hanging out and we've got CC the owners and operators of D6 Wrestling here in Macomb. What's up, guys? Howdy, howdy, awesome Dude.
Speaker 3:I've been excited about this. I haven't gotten back into semi-pro wrestling or pro wrestling or whatever it's considered. I haven't gotten back into it in years. And then in the last couple of years I've spent a lot of time in the quad cities with some friends. You go into music and stuff like that, like, hey, let's go over to scw to see what's going on and we had a blast. So, just going to local events, you realize it's not exactly what you're watching on tv and you interact and you have a good time and, uh, just super excited to to see what you guys got going on and to hear your story the indie scene is pretty different because you do get to meet the wrestlers, take pictures with them right become your.
Speaker 1:Wow, I've got someone to go see. You know when that music plays who's coming out? The right so it's a little bit easier and funner, and it's fun for the kids too.
Speaker 3:So sure, yeah. So where does this all begin? Where do you, where do you guys hail from?
Speaker 1:California.
Speaker 3:California, okay, so how did a family? Are you a wrestling family? Should I ask that?
Speaker 1:The company was my son's.
Speaker 3:Okay, he passed away. Okay, sorry to hear that.
Speaker 1:Before he could start it. Gotcha, we got the ring, let's do this. And he passed away.
Speaker 3:Okay.
Speaker 1:So mom decided.
Speaker 3:Mom decided let's do this, let's do this.
Speaker 1:So, with his younger brother and myself, we took it on, and it's been a hell of a ride for six years.
Speaker 3:Sure, and you started it out in California, or you came out here and got it going. No, we started in California.
Speaker 1:Okay, A few months after he passed away.
Speaker 3:Okay.
Speaker 1:And we've been going strong and we just kind of wanted a change of scenery. Sure Found Macomb Illinois.
Speaker 3:How does?
Speaker 1:that happen the windows of where we, the church windows, sure, because nobody knows we do wrestling in a church.
Speaker 3:Yeah, yeah.
Speaker 1:So, but the windows. I fell in love with the windows. It needed the ceiling because we do things 16 feet up in the air on certain matches so yeah absolutely perfect.
Speaker 3:That's awesome. So was wrestling something that was in your guys's past when you were back in california? I mean, was it something that you guys dabbled in when you were younger, when?
Speaker 1:I was younger, our friend invited me to a his boxing match okay I couldn't tell you anything about the boxing match because Hulk Hogan and Iron Sheik was the pre pre, before it, I was hooked.
Speaker 3:There you go.
Speaker 1:Then, of course, having four sons, I got them hooked. One of my sons became a wrestler.
Speaker 3:There you go.
Speaker 1:So that's it's me all my fault.
Speaker 3:There you go, but coming to Macomb, illinois, and you just happen to stumble upon in a what we call it an abandoned church. But I, realistically, it wasn't really abandoned, it just it's been on the market for eight years.
Speaker 2:Yeah, it'd been on the market for a long time anymore no, no, you guys how many shows have you guys had there now?
Speaker 1:we've had 21 shows. This is the 22nd show.
Speaker 3:That's awesome. Is it like a quarterly thing, or?
Speaker 1:the first we were doing it monthly and we decided now to do every other month and we're hoping to get back in to monthly so that you know. But right now, financially, it's you know, we need our fan base yeah, absolutely we really need. We break even and I tell people you don't become rich off this.
Speaker 3:No.
Speaker 1:You do it for the love of wrestling, but I like my same fans coming back.
Speaker 3:Yeah, yeah, you're reoccurring crowd. I mean Caleb over here as a bar guy will tell you straight up you're reoccurring customer base. We have about probably 30 regulars know, seth and I dabbled in pest control for several years and, yeah, it was nice to get the big jobs that would pay you a good chunk of money from time to time.
Speaker 3:But the folks that that pay the bills are the ones that are your monthly, bi-monthly, quarterly customers your locals those are the ones you got to take care of, and but you were saying that that you like going to other other wrestling.
Speaker 1:I do go to other shows and other events in the area. It's just a little interesting when I go.
Speaker 3:Right.
Speaker 1:Especially if you're wearing the destination six logo. The wrestlers actually kind of oh you know and then start talking. And when can you cut? You know, and we're booked for a year in advance. We're actually booked to 2025.
Speaker 3:Oh, wow.
Speaker 1:Yeah. So I fans we're actually booked to 2025 oh wow, yeah, so I'm just folks trying to get on the card, is that? So when I meet somebody at our show, they can I get on?
Speaker 3:well, we're booked till 2025, but reach out to us I mean, you know, things happen, people have emergencies or drop out or something you know well, I always tell people, if you're in the area, always, always carry your gear, always have it be ready.
Speaker 1:You come to a show. There might be somebody that doesn't show up. I need an extra.
Speaker 3:Boom there you are Now do you keep people like on a backlog of some sorts just in case, or is it like a oh crap, someone's not here. We got to figure something out.
Speaker 1:Well, we do that, that's a.
Speaker 3:I don't want to dabble too much. If you ever see me having a nervous breakdown.
Speaker 1:I know that's because that happened okay, um somebody never break kayfabes somebody always rides with somebody yeah so there's always an extra or two, and if not, you just change up the match all of a sudden. This is why card subject to change, because it always happens.
Speaker 3:Right, it's wrestling. It happens, it's wrestling. Well, that's life life happens you know, you plan something. Something could get jacked up at any moment in time yeah but. But it seems like you've had a fairly receptive welcome to the area.
Speaker 1:I'm very thankful for for everything that that macomb has given me, because we really were told when we got here football town it's not going to make it well, two years later, I'm still here and the shows are still going on exactly so I would think that a football town would be more accepting of a wrestling scene I think they'd love it well, hopefully now that jerry'll be there, because you know I heard a lot of people wanted, you know, a bar.
Speaker 3:Yeah, so yeah, I'll i'll'll, I'll tell you. I'll tell you from personal experience. I have never been to a wrestling event where I didn't feel, I didn't leave feeling pretty good. So, but yeah, I mean, it's it. You had to get yourself established somehow, and you know, if that means okay, we're going to do this without alcohol for so long, then that's we'll do, which you know, it's more of a family friendly atmosphere. Anyways, it's just a matter of you know, how do you glide into that? How do you glide into, you know, serving alcohol and and and doing the adult thing while still catering to your family friendly atmosphere?
Speaker 1:and that's when you found caleb kieran exactly, and we still put the kids over here and we've made the bar farther away from the kids, so it'll be separated and Yep, it'll be a good time.
Speaker 3:Yeah, I'm looking forward to it. So what? What are the big stories you know leading up into this? I know you can get on, um, and we'll get you to shout out your socials here soon, but like, what's the big buzz going into this event?
Speaker 1:Well, the buzz is that it's the X match, so the X goes 16 feet up into the air.
Speaker 3:Okay.
Speaker 1:And certain matches the belts will go up and they have to climb up and over the ropes to get to the belt. So whoever gets the belt that's the champion, new champion, old champion, same champion.
Speaker 3:Kind of like a money in the bank thing going on. I like it.
Speaker 2:Hopefully I won't be too busy to pay attention to it at that point yeah, you're gonna have to hire a bartender that night you're gonna be hooked, hook line and sinker like wait, wait, wait, I'll get you drink in a second.
Speaker 1:So, yeah, the, the heavyweight, the ultra gen six, the tag team and the midwest express, they will all be up into the x. The women will not. Yeah, so, and I don't. We're kind of debating on the ultragen, whether it will or not well speaking.
Speaker 3:Speaking of the women, I saw you had kaya mckenna on a card yes which going to scw. I've gotten to see her a couple times and she's fantastic, so you guys are very lucky to have her we're, we're trying to boost our, you know, because we're new back here.
Speaker 1:We have to make our. We're here, we're, we're serious about wrestling.
Speaker 3:Come to a show with us now and and you're always going to have the folks that that belittle it and and say what they're going to say about it, and that's fine, and my response has always been wrestling might be scripted, but don't ever think in any way, shape and form that it's fake yeah, it's difficult to do I have.
Speaker 1:I always have emt on stuff. Yep, because you know when they're jumping off the balcony. Yep, but I mean, it's nothing at all is descriptive gotcha not practicing. I might have joe from california and joe from the east coast.
Speaker 3:They've never met gotcha get into the ring and do what they do gotcha so we don't really do too much scripting no, and I guess I said I kind of put the cart in front of the horse on that. You see a lot of it. That is you want. What you watch on tv is scripted, you know. But don't think for a second that those people aren't athletes and they're not putting their body through the rigmarole especially with the.
Speaker 3:You know the dark side of the rings that have came out on on the hulus and and some of the realistic parts of what people have put themselves through, but seems like there's a new safety standard, there's a new awareness in this day and age that some people pay attention to or don't pay attention to, depending on who's performing. But you know, it's becoming more of a family staple again, I think.
Speaker 1:I think it's you kind of just go into it praying. You know, especially I do a talk before the shows Anyone going over the balcony. I need to know this before it happens, because when you're down below and all of a sudden you hear someone going oh, shh, and then you see the feet.
Speaker 3:And you just pray that that person gets up. Right.
Speaker 1:Because from the balcony that's a nice little drop.
Speaker 3:Well, and they're trained and they know how to make those jumps.
Speaker 1:It's a nice little drop.
Speaker 2:How to do those things without hurting themselves terribly, so I gotta.
Speaker 1:I got a question. Where did you? Get the name destination six my son actually came up with it. Okay, so it's a six-sided final one we had them ring custom made so it can go down into a four, but we like to keep it into the six because it's not every day you see one, so yeah, absolutely we had a custom made, so it was his destination to do this. And the six was the six sided ring. So yeah, just different.
Speaker 3:And so when he got into wrestling, was it a circuit or something that he followed over there, or was it he just wanted to get into the production side of it?
Speaker 1:He wrestled for 19 years gotcha he went to school for it.
Speaker 3:There's a few schools in california actually some back here too yeah getting a lot of their students, but uh you're talking about like black and brave and some of them seth rollins school.
Speaker 1:Yeah, so we're, we're he's out with quad cities, so we're getting a lot of them, which is really helpful and uh, but he went to school for it and he, you know, he loved being mr impact, you know. So I always kind of I'm trying to do the company the same way. He had a company prior, so this was a big one because it was six-sided, and so we're trying to run it the same way. He did give everyone a shot. If you want to put on some pants, let's go, caleb.
Speaker 1:Yeah we give everyone a shot. You know we we're not going to say, oh, you've only been doing what's he doing on the balcony?
Speaker 3:wait, wait he's getting ready to throw somebody off the balcony.
Speaker 2:It's a day that ends in a why?
Speaker 3:no, that's cool that you were able to take his vision and run with it and uh he found an area that's. That's uh really digging it.
Speaker 1:So I'm thankful, I'm very thankful. Like this show, we're gonna have free uh backpacks for the kids. No, kidding so it's a giveaway. We've always done it, so we try to give back to the community.
Speaker 3:That's the best we can sure, and uh, you said you got more events coming up that you're excited about too. If you can divulge how much you want to or how little we have.
Speaker 1:It's always hell in the cell, which is a cage match okay so we have that one, our next one that'll be coming up, that we haven't done, since california is a casket mat nice so, and this one, the x, we haven't done it here in macomb either, so it's it's kind of exciting, yeah, yeah we're debuting the x and making sure it all fit in there right. And we double check on our ring. A lot of you know we don't just oh, and then don't check it every show.
Speaker 1:We bring down the ring. Make sure everything's stable.
Speaker 3:Do it all over again gotcha yeah attention to detail caleb was is wrestling an interest of yours or is this like, since you just started going, it's starting to permeate?
Speaker 2:So my buddies invited me to a WWE match up north.
Speaker 3:Okay.
Speaker 2:And I went and I had so much fun. It was a ridiculous amount of fun.
Speaker 2:It was a Survivor Series, I think, and it was Cody Rhodes versus Seth Rollins, I think gotcha and after that I started watching a little bit on tv and then they started I'm like I think I'll go check that out and I did. It was a freaking blast, like I. I probably had more fun at their show than I did at WWE, just because you're so much more a part of it right at the smaller venue. And it was just they it was.
Speaker 2:It was a lot of fun and so I took my nieces to one and I I've taken up watching raw it's a habit and and I I really dig a lot of the intro songs, so if my if that played more of the intro songs, I would you'd hear a lot. You have to get a playlist you'd hear more of them at the bar at night, because I'd be like let's play this song it's crazy how you can just pick a person out too by their intro song just hear the glass break, you're like it's steve, it's steve well, this last year at wrestlemania, when they're in the middle of doing things, all of a sudden you hear the gong that's gonna shiver up everybody's spine, yep but especially mine.
Speaker 3:I love how, uh, but, like you were saying, I love how, in in close and personal, you get at these local matches like and then these people come, you know, you know who to heal and you know who the baby face is.
Speaker 3:They come out and and they're all yelling shut up shut up and you're like you know people yell what they're gonna yell at them and you know the certain guys come out and then sometimes the heels come out and they're and crowd really likes that guy. You just never know what's gonna happen we have that effect here in town everybody likes the bad guy he'll.
Speaker 1:Yeah, this town loves the bad guys my nieces loved the bad guys.
Speaker 2:When they went to, they're like, oh, I'm like, no, that's the wrong person yeah, everybody likes who they like yeah then you go buy the t-shirt and a lot of those yeah, because they have merch there.
Speaker 1:So we always say you know what we pay them. It's a good amount, but this is their job, right, buy their merch, support them absolutely, they all try to bring their own merch and they bring their own merch, their you know shirts, hats, stuffies, anything they you know.
Speaker 3:So we always say please support your, who your favorites, or not even even someone you're booing support them, because this is you know yeah, they'll make a little bit of money coming down and working for you, but a lot of their, a lot of their, a lot of their money is going to come from their merch sales, you know a lot of extra does yes, so it's, it's kind of a lot of times.
Speaker 3:They're standing there at their merch table and you can meet them. You can talk to them, take a picture with them, get them to sign your shirt.
Speaker 2:Buy a shirt, buy a photo, they'll sign it take a picture with you, so kids love that and they're, they're, they're great to talk to, like just like they're. They're super friendly and they'll have a conversation with you there and it's. It's a lot of fun just chatting with them a little bit and I I really enjoyed that part of it the kids love it.
Speaker 1:The kids they. Mr broadway always brings stuff for him, so the wrestlers will give them something off of them and the kids love that.
Speaker 2:He's not my favorite, he's not my favorite.
Speaker 1:Mickey Midas.
Speaker 3:Yeah, go through some of the guys you've got and kind of what they're.
Speaker 1:Well, we have Mickey Midas.
Speaker 3:Okay.
Speaker 1:And he's actually from AEW.
Speaker 3:Okay, he's done.
Speaker 1:After Dark. Okay, we have.
Speaker 3:Christian Rose that there's no limit to Speaking of wrestling.
Speaker 1:What.
Speaker 3:Sorry, that stand is so iffy.
Speaker 1:I got it. I'll hold it. I'll hold it.
Speaker 3:Sorry See.
Speaker 1:I start talking about Christian Rose. See what happens.
Speaker 3:Oh gracious.
Speaker 1:We've had Paragon, we've had, I mean, ash, and Alexander is our woman champion.
Speaker 2:Okay.
Speaker 1:The new guys are our tag team. We have infinity Tim, who's our heavyweight. We have Logan Myers as our Midwest.
Speaker 3:Okay, all right, tim, he was cool.
Speaker 1:You liked him, he's. He'll be here at the show and he's one of those guys where the music plays and you know he's coming. It's just let's go, and he's one of our longest right reigning champions enjoyed your old champ, even though you didn't well, it is what it is. Things happen, things change. You know, it's part of it Chance coming you had a.
Speaker 2:When I went to there was some really tall girl that was a wrestler.
Speaker 1:Oh Rebel.
Speaker 2:Yes.
Speaker 1:You men love her.
Speaker 3:You men. There's a reason.
Speaker 1:Men love, if you'd see a picture of her, you would too Okay. There's all men love her. They keep asking if she's coming back. We're trying to get her back.
Speaker 2:It's the tall women wrestlers rhea ripley, yep, yep yeah.
Speaker 1:So we're trying to get her back and we try to listen to the fans like, oh, we really like that person. Can you get them back? Yeah so we try our best and we try to you know, please, our fans and what's really exciting is what you guys got coming up here.
Speaker 3:Is it, uh, your ribbon cutting? When is when? Are you it's this coming tuesday, this coming tuesday. What you guys got coming up here is it, uh, your ribbon cutting when is when?
Speaker 1:are you?
Speaker 3:it's this coming tuesday this coming tuesday and you guys have been made part of the town chamber of commerce chamber of commerce, so you are officially yeah officially in the chamber, which I really like seeing. Um, some of these like non-traditional businesses is what I'll call it becoming, uh, chamber members, so, like most of I'll call it Becoming chamber members. So, like most of your tattoo shops in town now are chamber members, and the local wrestling company is now a chamber member, and you know, I've got great sponsors A bar, a tattoo shop.
Speaker 3:There you go.
Speaker 1:And popcorn. So hey, it's real rounded.
Speaker 3:You can shout out your sponsors if you want. I got JNC Popcorn, okay, I and popcorn. So hey, it's a, it's real rounded. You can shout out your sponsors if you want.
Speaker 1:I got jnc popcorn, okay mad tattoo and of course, of course, here the risk gotcha.
Speaker 3:So yeah, we're always looking for for sponsors sam and curtis over at nomad. Yep, they're good dudes, they've done some work for me, so really enjoy. And uh, congratulations to curtis. I hear he's kind of moving into the driver's seat over there he actually has.
Speaker 1:Oh, really yeah I didn't know that how much does this want to go live?
Speaker 3:yeah, I'm not sure what he's doing, but sam's done work for me before and he does great work. Curtis is a good dude. Um, I actually ran into him at chicks last week or two and uh say, hey, what are you doing? He goes I'm getting food and I'm leaving. I'm gonna eat it and I'm gonna sleep. It's at our. He's like taking over a tattoo shop is the hardest thing I've ever done in my life he's really big. He's like between the insurance and the paperwork and just everything involved.
Speaker 3:It's crazy state licensing my world, right, yours too, yeah being a business owner, it has its quirks, especially in the state of Illinois, man.
Speaker 1:Just become.
Speaker 2:Just become In my business, the state of Illinois.
Speaker 3:Hey, you can bring D6 to Bushnell, we'll take you.
Speaker 1:You know well, we suggested a couple other places too, so the Rexon is big enough, surely?
Speaker 3:Well, couple other places too. So the wrecks well, and you'd have to move a ring and stuff which is labor intensive. Well, I would never take the six-sided with.
Speaker 1:It does go into the four, so I would travel with the four. Okay, you know so, but it's, it's on the back runner.
Speaker 3:We hopefully can get to that point do a bit of traveling shows a little bit.
Speaker 1:That'd be cool, be kind of like the old territory days at that point yeah, but I mean we, we kind of like where we're at because we stand out yeah how many places can you continuously? Nope, this is home. We're not moved. We'll be back, because our first couple shows. When are you going to be back? No, no, no, we bought the building for destination six right, oh, really, yeah really so we kind of like that we don't have to bounce around, but we do want to travel yeah, absolutely at least you know, a couple times and you want to see your wrestlers go to other events and do well and and come back because that makes them that much better for your show.
Speaker 1:Well, our wrestlers are. You know we, we get them from california to new york. We have a couple coming from japan, so they're not technically our wrestlers right just the circuit and but we do have our regulars that we like and try to keep and yeah, you know some people don't like them.
Speaker 3:They're not their favorite well, the thing is, I don't know if you here to to put on the show caleb is a certified ninja. I don't know if you know this or not you didn't come to our shows.
Speaker 1:We had somebody in the ring that he would have loved.
Speaker 2:I could take him off the balcony, can we make?
Speaker 1:bets on McComb.
Speaker 3:I'll take Caleb on that one. I was on the US team for Jiu Jitsu Karate World Champion Powerlifter ok, I won't take that bet we walked through that on a legendaryary Luke's I was just like, okay, Ninja, exactly how many certificates or belts do you have? He went through all of them and I'm like, okay, I'm not messing with that guy.
Speaker 1:I was going to say I'm not taking the bet.
Speaker 3:But if you chase him with a sock filled with salt and pepper shakers?
Speaker 2:Salt and pepper shakers.
Speaker 3:I got a guy who attacked me with a sock full with salt and pepper shakers.
Speaker 2:I got attacked me with a sock full of salt and pepper shakers at Aurelio's one time.
Speaker 3:Oh, really, that'd be a good wrestling dude who comes out with like two socks swinging Condiment man Head over to the bar area. See Caleb over there busting beer bottles off his own head.
Speaker 1:Let's go, let's go. I might have to work on that I think a little bit of coaching.
Speaker 3:I think caleb be a darn good wrestler here he is the bartender.
Speaker 2:Why not? I'm down. My friends made bets on how long it would be until I asked to do a wrestling show for you guys.
Speaker 3:You know what would be perfect Mixed tag team you and Jessica. Oh God, that's if she ever comes back into your good graces.
Speaker 2:She just doesn't ever come hang out anymore.
Speaker 3:No, that's my sister.
Speaker 2:So Jess and I are besties, used to be, used to be. Used to be because she didn't come say hi anymore, but she wouldn't let us meet for the longest time. And we met. We became besties. Oh wait.
Speaker 3:She doesn't come around anymore. Well, it was funny because we were doing one of our metal shows upstairs here and when we were talking back and forth we were watching like I don't know uh fat electrician. We're watching fat electrician videos and uh, jess looks over at my buddy steve and she's just like he's my friend, you know that right. And steve goes.
Speaker 2:No, don't think he is anymore, he gone yep, and now I talk to you way when I talk to her but now we got wrestling besties you reach out and and looking forward to that that would be scary in the ring. You never know what she'll do, it's true that's kind of what makes it great it's just like a spider monkey she'd be handing out receipts left and right. I just want to see her drop an elbow.
Speaker 3:She'd kill somebody with that elbow. It's very sharp elbow.
Speaker 1:I'd like to stay in Macomb, so no killing.
Speaker 3:Oh gotcha.
Speaker 1:It was hard enough.
Speaker 3:I betcha. So yeah, what kind of headaches did you have to go through to get wrestling in Macomb? You said you came from California, you got the building, you got all set up and then like what was the channels? What was the headaches that you had to go through to just ring the bell?
Speaker 1:The building had to be updated.
Speaker 3:Okay.
Speaker 1:It wasn't grandfathered in.
Speaker 3:Okay.
Speaker 1:So the city requested a lot of changes.
Speaker 3:They're talking like fire code type stuff.
Speaker 1:They wanted stairs gone, they wanted this, they, they wanted me to basically get rid of some of the reasons I bought the building. We just kind of eased around the certain things they wanted and added and never got rid of the wood stairs or the. There were things they really wanted me to get rid of and I oh yeah so I mean it was, it was what about six, seven months worth.
Speaker 1:We had to go through the historic section. We had to go through the court as far as two or three meetings for those. If everyone agreed, then we could do it.
Speaker 3:Gotcha.
Speaker 1:So after you move from California and you buy a building nobody told me this when I bought the building I'd have to go through so much just to put wrestling in there yeah, I definitely want their their thumbs on everything here or that the, the, the community could actually come in and say no, we really don't want it here.
Speaker 3:We only had one that really opposed it, so well didn't work out too well for them, we won. It's kind of like I was always sold about buying a vehicle. It was like the cheapest thing about buying a vehicle is buying the vehicle, everything after that, fixing it, insuring it you know, so it is but it seems like it's panned out pretty well. It has. It was brought up in the meeting to him.
Speaker 1:So if she opened a strip club, would you have a problem with it? Or is it just wrestling? And it became it was just wrestling funny story.
Speaker 3:They tried that too they opened one halfway between between here and colchester lasted what six months, as long as they could. And then I, from and from the stories I hear, I once, but from what I hear, the owner knew it was going to get shut down. Yes, eventually, he just kind of did it out of spite. Yeah, and the building's still there.
Speaker 2:So if he would have done a little bit better job with the placement of the building he could have. So the county didn't have any regulations against it, except there's a state ordinance that said he had to be so many feet from a house, gotcha, and he except there's a state ordinance that said he had to be so many feet from a house and he was like seven feet too close, yeah, and if he would have placed a little better, they couldn't have.
Speaker 2:They passed county ordinances and then shut him down with the state ordinance, so then when he moved he would have to follow the county ordinances. And there was no place in the county that would work.
Speaker 3:I had a local guy I used to work for and he was telling place in the county that would work. I had a local guy used to work for and he was telling me about it. I'm like he seemed to know an awful lot about that place he goes. I was a judge on amateur night, of course I did my friends and I went there like the first.
Speaker 2:Like couple days it was open. We walked in, we looked around and we left like, yep, that's enough of this, let's go yeah, but I would say I would say wrestling is a far cry from stripping oh, absolutely I don't know.
Speaker 1:Have you seen some of the women's clothes?
Speaker 2:well, no problems with it.
Speaker 3:No they're covered some raw athleticism, at least exactly, and do you guys carry storylines from match the match, and you can see a lot of that on the. I've noticed some of that on your guys' Facebook and go ahead and shout out all your socials so that people can find you and see what we're talking about here.
Speaker 1:Well, we're on Facebook, we're on Instagram, we're on Twitter. We have a YouTube channel and a TikTok.
Speaker 3:And it's called D6 Wrestling or Destination. It's either under d6w wrestling or destination six wrestling got you okay, so and you do carry, like you said, the storylines and stuff from the best part about this show coming up.
Speaker 1:A lot of new storylines are starting a lot of beef going on. I like that a lot like that so they started kind of last show and they're going full force.
Speaker 3:So that's half the fun is going there and seeing, I guess, the dramatic side of it. Just seeing how it's all going to go down Like story writing is a huge part of wrestling.
Speaker 1:If you go on Facebook you can actually see the storylines unfolding, because the wrestlers do their promos. So they will actually start their promos and when they do, it's kind of what the story is of what they're doing in the arena. So we've got a couple of heat, you know.
Speaker 3:Do you do like the locker room videos with the projector and stuff inside? We do those too. That's awesome.
Speaker 1:We really try to do. My son, Chris, does all of the editing.
Speaker 3:Sure, all the film, all the production work.
Speaker 1:So he's a big part of why we do this too. Without him I couldn't do half of it.
Speaker 3:We'll have to get him on sometime and walk through some of the wrestling. Good luck.
Speaker 1:He likes to be behind the scenes.
Speaker 3:No, that's nothing wrong with that. So does Seth. I didn't talk about the editing process. He's got a microphone.
Speaker 1:He's talked like four words the whole time. Like we just we, you know cause you, you know we're in the church we actually gutted one of the rooms and painted it solid black. It's going to be the new promo room now oh nice, so I mean we had it over here. Now he wanted another one over here. So it's a big enough building to where we can. We've done promos down in a scary basement scary basement.
Speaker 3:That's what makes it awesome, though. That's where the heels live, that's not what lives in this one.
Speaker 1:But anyway, so where your caskets are at the casket is actually in the woman's dressing room where it belongs, try driving down the street and with it in your truck, and people driving on the side of you going, you know, looking at you like you're nuts, you know.
Speaker 3:So I did I did honor guard work for three years with the, with the national guard, where we were folding and presenting flags, you know, half a dozen times a week at someone's gravesite. So we were doing training at least once a month. We were going from one office to the next training throughout the state and you want to talk about awkward is getting pulled over in a huge like a conline van with a casket and a bunch of flags inside of it what's going on here?
Speaker 1:nothing anymore yeah, that would be yeah. So I mean, we've got a lot coming up and this is actually coming up. At the end of the year we'll be back-to-back. Much shows nice to get all the storylines.
Speaker 3:They'll end january, because january is our, our memorial show, so it's bigger than the rest gotcha is it like clean slate and starting new storylines, or is it like that's kind of when they're all going to end gotcha and then start new, but it's, it's.
Speaker 1:The memorial show is when my son passed away. So, we try to double up, have trophies, have different scenarios, going on to gauntlets.
Speaker 3:Kind of like fights for the bell Stuff like that Stuff like that.
Speaker 2:I think the first show I went to was the memorial show.
Speaker 1:Okay.
Speaker 3:I think the first show I went to was that Is it kind of like your guys' WrestleMania in a sense.
Speaker 1:It is our WrestleMania, so did you see me hit anybody that day?
Speaker 3:Okay, Do you get in the ring? Do you wrestle around a bit?
Speaker 1:No.
Speaker 3:No.
Speaker 1:But after they jumped off the balcony I did want to see if I could do it.
Speaker 3:Yeah, but I cheated and put a mattress down there. Safety first.
Speaker 1:Yeah.
Speaker 3:I'd be putting like a high jump mat or something. No, I'd be putting like a high jump mat or something. No, I'm inflatable bouncy house, hey that'd be interesting, sean do you wrestle?
Speaker 1:no, we all have our jokes of what we do. He's music oh gotcha no, we all have our joke and we all fight over who's not the owner, but when it comes down to it, it's me and my son. And then you know we just. He's the editor, he's the maintenance man, he's music I.
Speaker 3:I'm just the bank, I just pay everybody you know, there you go, it rolls downhill pretty quick it's like, when it comes down to it, nobody wants to, you know, but it's kind of cool.
Speaker 1:I am getting in town now where I go somewhere. Aren't you the mom from the wrestling show? You're wrestling lady. I'm like I don't know. Do you wrestle, mom? Do you like wrestling? Yeah, I did. I really love the show.
Speaker 3:Oh, yeah, I am well, that's and that's the one thing people like. If you, if you think that just flipping on the tv and seeing it and going oh that's dumb's dumb as wrestling it's like actually go to a show, like you will have a blast. It's so much fun, so much fun.
Speaker 1:I have a guy that comes in older guy, I kid you not, he comes to every show he's. I don't know if watching the show is fun or watching the people enjoy. The show is fun.
Speaker 3:That's where I was in Bluegrass when I was watching SCW. I just just, it's a little, just a little, building out in the middle of iowa, probably 15 minutes outside of the quad cities, and they pack 200, 300 people in there every event gotta let me come. So capacity, capacity yeah so hopefully you're getting elbow to elbow and you gotta start selling tickets shows.
Speaker 1:We are to full capacity, so it all just depends on getting us.
Speaker 3:Getting us out there, hey western, get us an auditorium I cannot.
Speaker 2:That would be nice that would be really nice. How well the wrestlers do getting people interact with them. It's it's freaking awesome. It is just so much fun watch that's part of their brand.
Speaker 3:You know, that's how they sell themselves. That's how they sell their merch and really their art. You love them, or?
Speaker 1:you hate them, but you're going to buy their merch regardless, because you want to. You hate them, you want to wear their merch. If you love them, you're going to wear their merch. So it's kind of, and after the show they'll come out and take pictures and pick you up by the shirt and go do you really want to picture with me?
Speaker 3:You know, yeah, so it's kind of kind of cool. No, we're excited, I'm glad, and you found one of my favorite people in town and Caleb, and and that's going to be an awesome collab. So so really looking forward to it.
Speaker 1:It's going to be July 20th, july 20th door start opening up at five 15 for VIP. And when I say six o'clock I am that woman that it's bell rings at six? Bell rings at six o'clock. A lot of people come later.
Speaker 3:That's the one thing I've noticed and just because people are going to ask what's, uh, what's the difference between your standard pass and your vip?
Speaker 1:vip is actually up on the state okay so when the wrestlers come out, they will pay attention to you because you're right there. So that front row is, you know, front row behind the barrier, and then we have the balcony and the general is everywhere else.
Speaker 3:And what's your prices at each level?
Speaker 1:VIP is $30. Front row is $25. General is $20. And kids 10 and under is $10. Excellent.
Speaker 3:So affordable event for you to take the kids to, and caleb's going to be there with the tasty beverages, maybe throwing people off the balcony, maybe not. Maybe two at a time. Maybe two at a time. Maybe two people will be throwing him off of the balcony yeah, we do, private parties and birthdays and nice so it's.
Speaker 1:It's the kids love the birthdays I'll bet so we're going in the ring I I get him in the ring I actually make him, for you know, and I think that one kid we did one time, he'll remember that till he's 30 oh, I bet he, he just was in shock. I let him carry one of the belts, so he was kind of really I will, I will, I will agree with you on that.
Speaker 2:I went to a wrestling match with my dad when I was like 10 and I've never forgotten it, like it was just one of those things like this is amazing, so it'll definitely stick with him and he comes all the time now too.
Speaker 1:But that one he got to hold the bell, he got to come in the ring nice get his picture with all the wrestlers. So we try to really birthdays. It doesn't matter whether you're a kid or an adult.
Speaker 3:We, if you want to be brought down, we'll bring you down now, is that the kind of thing like when you take your buddies to a club and you pay enough money, you can get him on in the ring see me, you just have to ask, okay well, we may or may not get caleb in the ring that night.
Speaker 2:I feel like we need to get kenny in the ring so we need to get caleb and kenny in the ring caleb and kenny and that Kenny in the ring Caleb and Kenny.
Speaker 3:That sounds great.
Speaker 1:I hear a private event coming up.
Speaker 3:Yes, we'll bring you Kenny DTW in the bank. Kenny versus Caleb. I love it. Thank you for your time. You can bring in that tall wrestler lady too. Appreciate your time and I love what you're doing and I think it's going to be a lot of fun. I got a couple other things going on that day, but I'm really trying to hustle back for that.
Speaker 1:Separates everybody.
Speaker 3:Gotcha, you got one of the cool passes I could wear. You know that make me feel special.
Speaker 1:I actually have one in there.
Speaker 2:Yes.
Speaker 3:Oh man, he gets a vest, he gets a vest, he gets a vest and a hard hat and a hard hat, and a 21-year thing for his wrist too. Oh man.
Speaker 1:I'm there. He's going to just be special, okay, I like her too. Is that her?
Speaker 3:Mm-hmm, I bet she's a very good wrestler. All right, thanks, wrestler. All right, thanks again.
Speaker 1:All right, thank you, appreciate you.
