Midwest Mania: Wrestling, Music & Community

Travis Brown Episode 101

A brewing revolution hits Galesburg, IL as six bands unite for an extraordinary night of music, community, and yes—wrestling. Discover how a simple Facebook post evolved into "Midwest Mania," a multi-genre showcase happening April 19th at Reserve Artisan Ales.

What happens when musicians who've known each other for decades finally share one stage? Magic. The Stone Doves kick things off with their youthful take on classic rock, followed by Flabber Gaster's distinctive funk-core sounds. Liberty Street brings emotional hardcore with a decade of chemistry, while SoColossal delivers high-energy hip-hop reggae fusion. The People Next Door adds psychedelic jam rock, and A Sight Beyond closes with their self-described "doomy psychedelic stoner sludgy alternative metal."

Beyond the music lies something special—a genuine neighborhood of artists supporting each other rather than competing. "It's strength in numbers," one musician explains, highlighting how this collaborative spirit enables original music to thrive in smaller communities. These aren't just bands; they're friends who've watched each other grow, sometimes playing in multiple projects, stepping in when others need help, and celebrating their collective musical journey.

Reserve Artisan Ales offers the perfect backdrop with its craft beer selection, food options from their kitchen and Shaw Daddies food truck, and unique spaces allowing WrestleMania to play between sets on projector screens. Some performers might even channel their inner WWE superstars with wrestling-inspired attire.

Mark your calendar for this all-ages event starting at 5:30pm (doors at 5pm). Free admission with donations encouraged. Whether you come for the diverse musical lineup, the craft beer, the wrestling atmosphere, or the powerful sense of community—Midwest Mania promises an unforgettable night showcasing the vibrant, interconnected music scene that continues to thrive in the heart of Illinois.

At one time the second biggest group, believe it or not. The people next door were involved in that podcast as well, gold. So whenever they go somewhere, they bring a ton of people Giving back. All right, let's just do a roundtable so that we know who the hell's here I am Dash Lundin.

Speaker 4:

Yeah, careful, where you say that, then his head got yeah, couldn't get him out of building so they had to change the name of the band Scary times.

Speaker 3:

Scary times, but we got through it, floated away one time.

Speaker 4:

What do we got here? One of my best buddies ever.

Speaker 2:

I'm Brandon Watts. I'm the vocalist for Liberty Street. I am also the chef here at Reserve Artisan Ales.

Speaker 4:

And sitting here enjoying me a beautiful luchini lager. Thank you, it is all right. We got down here.

Speaker 6:

Speaker 4:

I was like which one are you?

Speaker 3:

more.

Speaker 4:

Proud of bro, proud of man I can kind of and I can shred. It got messed up.

Speaker 7:

Hey, what's up? It's Josh from so Colossal.

Speaker 4:

Nice. What do you do, Josh?

Speaker 7:

Oh yeah, dude, I sing for this band. I think that's.

Speaker 4:

I don't like saying that, well, he did lead with backup vocals, so that's hard to top.

Speaker 7:

Yeah, the front dude of so Colossal.

Speaker 4:

There you go.

Speaker 3:

Front dude. I like it.

Speaker 4:

Front dude.

Speaker 5:

I'm Brad, I drum for so Colossal.

Speaker 4:

Back dude. There you go Back dude.

Speaker 7:

You sound like a bunch of nerds dude.

Speaker 4:

Sorry, guys. Alright, so Brandon, tell me about this show that's happening.

Speaker 2:

Alright, so April 19th coming up here at Reserve Artists and Ales, we have a great show coming up for you guys.

Speaker 6:

Midwest Mania it's called.

Speaker 2:

Midwest Mania, kind of banking off of. We're going to have WrestleMania playing and the projectors there in the vault on the two projectors, so in between the show times you're able to go watch some wrestling. I think a few of the band members might be dressing up as certain characters from WWE. We also said six bands we're starting at. I said six bands, we're starting at 5.30. Doors are going to open at 5. We have the Stone Doves, we have Flabbergaster, we have Liberty Street, we have so Colossal. We have the People Next Door, we have A Sight Beyond. There will be a couple food trucks here so you guys can get your grub on um all ages show um free donations very, very welcome to help us out.

Speaker 2:

Encouraged would be the right word. Um, we're going to uh be playing all night till about around 11 o'clock See here.

Speaker 3:

Can I ask a question? Absolutely.

Speaker 1:

What's your question Sight Beyond what Sight Beyond what?

Speaker 6:

I don't know what they're beyond. No more questions.

Speaker 3:

What are they beyond Is?

Speaker 4:

that the end of the show. Yeah, you can always see penalties where I'm rocking and rolling the end yeah. Jesse and Seth got muted together. I'm not surprised um.

Speaker 2:

Like I said, we'll have food, we'll have music, we'll have entertainment.

Speaker 6:

We will you know it's gonna be a good show. Not going to want to miss it.

Speaker 4:

Okay, so we got music. We got a beautiful venue and beer.

Speaker 3:

Lots of craft beer, lots of.

Speaker 2:

Lots of craft beer we make ourselves here at Reserve Artisan Ale. We have a bus with 20 or 30 drafts on it. A couple of them might be, you know, sod or whatever. So for your kids or whatever you can give them root beer, cream sodas, orange sodas, you know and then for all of you adults there, you have a large selection of every kind of beer you would.

Speaker 2:

You could think of really a lot of daddy pops, a lot of daddy pops. You could think of really A lot of daddy pops, a lot of daddy pops.

Speaker 6:

You could do like the Suicide and just run it under all of them.

Speaker 2:

You could and you could pour as little or as much as you like. You could sample just an ounce of each beer and figure out what you really like the Soda Suicides.

Speaker 4:

It has new machines where you punch the soda and then it gives you a list. There's not each fountain anymore, it's like it's ruined the suicide.

Speaker 6:

Too many options, too many options.

Speaker 4:

More thorough concepts.

Speaker 6:

Yeah, stuff needs to be more manual nowadays.

Speaker 3:

They don't make them like they used to. Back in my day we had cigarette machines.

Speaker 2:

Jesus Also. This is downtown Galesburg 185 South Kellogg Street. We will be starting at 5 o'clock. Love to see you there.

Speaker 3:

And challenge me for the title. All oncomers are welcome. I'll bring the steel chairs.

Speaker 6:

I heard it here. He doesn't even have the title.

Speaker 4:

I do, john PC wants it with a steel chair. That's what I heard.

Speaker 3:

It's usually what I go for, yeah. The tables in here look pretty sturdy, I wouldn't recommend going for one of those.

Speaker 4:

Could you fall through a table? I would love to.

Speaker 6:

We can try.

Speaker 3:

I have a bill set on, I could set it on fire Some good rafters in here.

Speaker 2:

We do have ladders, but I don't think we have insurance to cover that.

Speaker 3:

I got my own Good to go.

Speaker 5:

Challenge accepted Can good to go, ooh?

Speaker 3:

challenge accepted can we do like a coyote thing where?

Speaker 2:

we just get up here and just start, you know dancing on the table.

Speaker 4:

Coyote outside, only coyote. Fugly, it's gonna turn into coyote really ugly around here I would dance with somebody throw a harpoon, I'm sure let's talk about these bands like what's uh, what's everybody's uh style, what's their I? I hate doing that to like oh, I'm a progressive funk celtic metal band, you know, because I hate putting like bands in boxes but, people want to know, like, what are they going to come and listen to? So let's like go through each band and kind of what they sound like or let each band talk about what they sound like.

Speaker 2:

We have quite an eclectic like group of bands coming here.

Speaker 4:

They're all a little different.

Speaker 2:

I'm going to go ahead and pass the mic over and somebody want to talk about Stone Doves?

Speaker 3:

Yeah, Stone Doves. These kids are great. They play some very iconic classic rock and some of their own. A couple guys on their guitars just playing their heart out. They're from the Quad Cities, right, I believe they're from Davenport Is there like a rock act.

Speaker 4:

Is that what you're saying?

Speaker 3:

Yeah, it's good, it's nice heady music, yeah, the younger kids playing like Pink Floyd and stuff.

Speaker 2:

Oh nice, Like 2021. Didn't they just start their band as well.

Speaker 1:

They did the night that we saw it. Yeah, yeah.

Speaker 2:

So they're less than a couple months old, but these kids kill it. I saw them. They're good.

Speaker 4:

Awesome Stone Dove from the Quad Cities.

Speaker 6:

What's his stamp of approval? Go, go.

Speaker 2:

Next we have Flabbergaster.

Speaker 1:

I mean, they're from Davenport as well. They play some funk. Like what funk rock?

Speaker 3:

man, it's funk core of some sort. Well, we jammed with Logan by himself at the open mics up there at Gypsy Highway. That's where we also met the Stone Doves and Logan. We know about him. He's great, he grooves all day. Yeah, he does.

Speaker 2:

We're're gonna go jam with him later tonight, yep next up we have, uh, one of your local favorites. That's a lie, but uh, we have liberty street coming up.

Speaker 4:

My band check this out I may have known those guys at one time, yeah well, like 10 years ago I played with you guys, like at the show. Yeah, last year, but we're a beautiful thing about improv is like you don't have to know anything when you come in and play but we've actually uh been writing some music lately instead of just doing completely improv sets.

Speaker 2:

So this is going to be a new kind of Liberty street.

Speaker 1:

I mean it's kind of the some of the stuff that you've seen before but me and Mark wrote most of it.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, they wrote all the lyrics.

Speaker 1:

He doesn't like to show up to practice.

Speaker 3:

That's fine.

Speaker 1:

Shout out to Mark Me and Mark putting in work at like 7 o'clock in the morning.

Speaker 2:

Shout out to Mark you don't wake up that early, you're a liar.

Speaker 1:

He doesn't. I've never heard you guys. I'm really excited to hear Liberty.

Speaker 2:

Street. But yeah, so we are an improv metalcore band with a little bit of spoken word and a little bit of like emotional hardcore kind of sound. We are a three piece and we've been jamming together for over a decade and it's kind of just the same spiel but ramped up.

Speaker 4:

Lots of chuggas and discords.

Speaker 6:

Emphasis on the emotional.

Speaker 2:

A lot of screams, you gotta like batten down your hat.

Speaker 3:

when you guys play, you gotta tie yourself onto a rail or something.

Speaker 2:

There might be a couple fish flying, but it'll be fine. Stay out of the singer's way.

Speaker 3:

You guys are going before us. I'm not that dangerous, you just talk to me after the show.

Speaker 1:

It's not during the show.

Speaker 2:

Good luck.

Speaker 7:

I've been Rick Flair'd while you were on. It's going to mess everything up bro, you have.

Speaker 2:

You didn't get sweet chin music. No.

Speaker 4:

I didn't. I just got to wait for the day.

Speaker 2:

It didn't hurt that bad. It was bad. How long did the wet?

Speaker 4:

last, I don't know.

Speaker 6:

Emotional.

Speaker 3:

Emotional. I put you in finger form God bless.

Speaker 1:

He was drinking right.

Speaker 4:

I don't know what he was doing.

Speaker 3:

Emotional Drinking that water.

Speaker 6:

No bullshit.

Speaker 3:

Drinking the pond water dude, you're bringing your own mic.

Speaker 2:

I don't want you to break nothing too much. Don't tell him how to art. I always bring my own mic.

Speaker 4:

Okay, all right, who's next? Who we got next up.

Speaker 2:

We got so colossal. What's?

Speaker 3:

up guys hey, what up, what up what up.

Speaker 7:

End of the table. So colossal here. Um, man, pretty much we are a Well. First, I just want to say we just released a new song called On the Edge. It's on Spotify, all major platforms, youtube, all that stuff. Actually, there's four songs out, so go check them out. You can get it on YouTube Music Basically just Google search this. You're going to find it.

Speaker 7:

We are like a hip-hop reggae uh, cody has added this edm element to it, but, uh, pretty much we started out as like a ukulele, just little jam band, uh, during covid, and then we just been packing on the pieces that we needed to make what it is, what it is now, which is, uh, I mean, it's just, it's evolved a lot and it's it's so much fun and it's high energy and basically we're just there to perform for people. Um, I, I could, I could care less about the money or any of that stuff. It's all about just pure entertainment going crazy on stage and getting that energy from everybody else in the community and bringing everyone together for the music, and it's something I've been loving my whole entire life and I'm so happy to have got this group together to make this happen. And it's going to be a nasty, nasty show and the fact that it's here at the reserve. This is like my favorite venue in the whole entire town and it's the yeah, it's, it's the greatest thing ever.

Speaker 4:

It's a blessing to be here. I mean, it's not the patio, but no, it's pretty nice yeah it's cool.

Speaker 7:

So being being able to do it here in town and and here at this venue, and the indoor-outdoor opportunity that we have, it's going to be slamming. It's going to be a great time.

Speaker 6:

Yeah, dude, this is our drummer, brad he is single.

Speaker 1:

309-351 I'm never single.

Speaker 5:

Okay, two members of the band are single.

Speaker 3:

My number is upside down.

Speaker 4:

Okay, what's happened?

Speaker 6:

I aren't.

Speaker 4:

That's fine. It's gone off the rails. What's happened?

Speaker 6:

Nothing happened.

Speaker 7:

We're just advertising our. We're both on Tinder yo.

Speaker 4:

Oh man Swipe right.

Speaker 7:

We got all that shit going on Okay.

Speaker 3:

Is that that's? We're putting that onto the show. What?

Speaker 2:

time is that? Uh, what what? No, it's an all-agent show.

Speaker 4:

We can't do that and next to go on the dial, the wild out takes folder what we got. Now who's what's people next door? If you don't know them, we hired them in bushnell. They put on a good show for the park district, went over there. I don't know how many times I've seen you guys.

Speaker 4:

Half a dozen times, probably, probably yeah, one of my biggest fans, yeah, well you know I know how to party, so but yeah, you guys got your uh funky blues rock vibe that you guys bring to each venue and it's a lot of fun yeah, mix is like psychedelic too like to jam, yeah, whatever you want to call it.

Speaker 3:

Um, yeah. I've seen Brandon dance to it we like to bring is kind of different for every show. Like right we get hyped for one show, get really chilled. No one shall ever be like the same each show is different.

Speaker 1:

That's what's fun about it.

Speaker 4:

It's like liberty people next door wow, like 2.0.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, all you need is brandon screaming in the background easy easy liberty street is literally just down the block, like yeah, on the same neighborhood, like yeah all neighbors.

Speaker 6:

Man on the all name yeah like when I did you said welcome to the neighborhood, for sure, for sure. Everybody's welcome dude.

Speaker 3:

Yeah, yeah and uh yeah nixon was saying he had he nailed it on the head like community is what it's all about helping each other out and uh, we're uh welcoming these guys into the neighborhood, so that also means there could be some other magic happening too we're so excited to play with you guys, like all this is so cool Same.

Speaker 4:

Same. Well, let's go into that. How did this come about? Where did this whole idea concept start?

Speaker 7:

People- are pointing at John again.

Speaker 6:

It was John. It was John.

Speaker 1:

I thought you were crazy when you first did that.

Speaker 4:

I thought it was a dumbass idea. This is always the best way to a good story.

Speaker 3:

The coolest bands with the coolest people in it. That are my friends, you know, and luckily they all were about it I just sent out like a fake mock-up flyer.

Speaker 6:

He wanted a reunion of one of the bands.

Speaker 7:

I saw that flyer.

Speaker 6:

I was like the oh Major. You remember that band.

Speaker 3:

Yeah, we just threw the flyer out. Everybody said yes. Everybody was down for us, and now it just kind of became a thing Put it out there and it created itself and now you will come and face me for the title.

Speaker 6:

Don't have the title. Josh has the title.

Speaker 1:

I have the title, dude. Dude, who has the title? I'm so confused.

Speaker 7:

No, remember, we stole it in his sleep. It was a conspiracy. We should get like a belt for this show.

Speaker 6:

There should be like a championship belt For the 19th. Alright, who's babyface?

Speaker 4:

and who's heel In this conversation? He's definitely the heel Josh's babyface.

Speaker 2:

I play bass.

Speaker 5:

Everybody loves me. Everybody loves babyface. Everybody loves me, everybody loves babyface.

Speaker 4:

Everybody loves me. You're gonna go straight scene out of this. Yeah, I'm gonna do a heel turn.

Speaker 3:

Super, kick them both at once, put on the wig, take the title. Oh my gosh.

Speaker 4:

I think I told Bray like straight 2005 what Hawthorne Heights with that? He took it off. I was like Straight Hawthorne Heights with that, he took it off. I was like, oh, straight 2025, hawthorne Heights. We all looked like somebody. We all do.

Speaker 6:

Yeah, but John just manifested all this Like it just became like something that's going to be huge.

Speaker 4:

It just happened A witch man.

Speaker 6:

All different genres of music and friends know each other.

Speaker 7:

Somehow he put that whole Facebook group together.

Speaker 3:

Essentially you guys are doing it like it or not? Yeah.

Speaker 6:

I'm very persuasive. It's so crazy.

Speaker 7:

Our whole entire past has, like now, come together.

Speaker 3:

Me and Josh. We were in our first band together.

Speaker 4:

With.

Speaker 3:

Josh and we've all like brushed shoulders and me and josh, we were in our first band together we're gonna tell josh the two b's and we've all like brushed shoulders.

Speaker 1:

You ever really crossed the path like we are right now.

Speaker 4:

It's magic there's a lot to be said for that. There was, uh, there was a time there. You know we were all shut up at home and nobody could do anything, go anywhere, be part of anything, and you know it's trying to figure out who's out there doing it now. And once you figure out who's out there, it's like, okay, let's get them together in the same room and let's have a good time with it.

Speaker 3:

Yeah it's like we're trying to. It's coming back.

Speaker 7:

You brought up a really good thing right there is. There's a lot of people that they get to our age and they just stop doing it. You know, and then you never want to be the guy who's like oh, I used to do this, oh yeah.

Speaker 4:

You might as well be the guy, that's like yo, I used to do this and I'm still doing it. I still have my Letterman jacket.

Speaker 3:

Dude, let's go. And it's strength in numbers. I haven't peaked yet, you haven't.

Speaker 6:

We're waiting.

Speaker 4:

Brandon's going to crawl out of his shell one of these days.

Speaker 3:

And we got Liberty Street coming back from the dead.

Speaker 4:

Liberty Street. I like it.

Speaker 2:

Oh yeah, there's not much of that left.

Speaker 4:

Liver Street, the liver, the liver on Liberty.

Speaker 3:

Street.

Speaker 4:

That's a good movie name, Awesome dude.

Speaker 7:

What else we got going on Dude? Hey, I got to say something really crazy.

Speaker 6:

All right, go for it man. So Brad, awesome dude, what else we got going on? Hey, I gotta say something, really all right, go for it, man so so, brad, put him on the spot.

Speaker 7:

you guys, you guys know I've been a drummer right and seriously it's crazy that I get to jam with the guy that I looked up to my whole entire life, like literally he was like the reason why I got, and he's a death metal drummer, brad was a badass.

Speaker 5:

I appreciate that For people who can't see we're hugging right now.

Speaker 6:

It's not weird, it's a death metal drummer.

Speaker 5:

John, put your pants on, it's maybe a little weird, but just not too weird.

Speaker 2:

Just don't look at where the hands are going.

Speaker 7:

When I was a kid, I always looked up to Brad Heck yeah.

Speaker 5:

And it was just like we got to be in a band together. And then he like one day was just like are you still drumming? And I'm like, well, I practice on my practice pad like 4 o'clock in the morning while watching YouTube videos. Good enough. He's like the next day he's like you want to jam? I'm like, okay, I just felt bad that he wasn't doing.

Speaker 7:

He wasn't doing anything with it. I'm like man. Yeah, dude, I know you sparked it kind of forced him.

Speaker 1:

Toon was like yeah, don spark kind of forced him to get into it.

Speaker 3:

He's like I haven't played bass well. Me, josh and dixon were in our first band together basically the three.

Speaker 7:

J's the two b's. We grew up. We grew up on the same street, dude, not me no brown just down the block.

Speaker 2:

I had to ride their bus.

Speaker 5:

Brown Street.

Speaker 3:

Yeah, Josh, he hadn't played bass since then and I said, Josh, you're going to play bass with us? He's like I don't even play bass anymore.

Speaker 5:

He's like I don't even have a bass. I was like here I have one.

Speaker 3:

You're going to play this. I'll learn today. I'll learn today and I've surpassed. He's definitely the most improved player.

Speaker 6:

I'm the MVP TPND Play bass Josh Lindy.

Speaker 3:

MVP dude yeah, he's come along real quick in a short time, yeah go ahead.

Speaker 2:

I was about to say half that band is wearing sunglasses.

Speaker 5:

Dude.

Speaker 1:

We didn't wear ours, we got close. The sons that I know no excuse.

Speaker 2:

Can I ask a question real quick? So I've heard you guys have new additions to your band. What's that about? Oh, you got a saxophone player.

Speaker 3:

Now we have a saxophone player now. Treyman Just came to us. Yeah, we got Trey.

Speaker 7:

He's from Davenport, he's a pretty crazy dude In a good way and then we had Brad Serber, who's the lead guitar.

Speaker 6:

Yeah, he told me he was about to hang it up and he was like I want to play in your band hey.

Speaker 1:

Josh has a question go ahead.

Speaker 7:

What happened to Jared? Is it nothing you guys want to talk about, or?

Speaker 3:

no, it's fine, he's my little baby cousin. Always gonna love him.

Speaker 7:

I, I used to jam with him. He used to jam together. Remember.

Speaker 3:

He had his own path to follow, and we have ours.

Speaker 7:

I love that Understandable.

Speaker 3:

No hard feelings, no bad blood. Yeah, we love you, Jared.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, I hope you're doing well, I miss you.

Speaker 7:

I was curious when I first saw the post. I love you. I miss you too.

Speaker 5:

Oh, get out of here.

Speaker 7:

Brandon, you got the horn player and you got Brad. Yeah, which dude I know? Brad Brad's a really cool dude, yeah he's been around since he was 19.

Speaker 6:

And he's a shredder, he really is, and he comes from Blues too, so it's like almost the same thing that. Jared's like into as well.

Speaker 3:

His style is like unique to us.

Speaker 4:

After watching you guys the other night, people next door play at the patio. We kind of cut out early, came over to Buddy's here. Is that what it's called Buddy's Pizza?

Speaker 6:

Yeah, Buddy's Okay.

Speaker 4:

And watched the site beyond, for that's probably like the third, second or third time that I've seen them and those guys are amazing yeah they were I mean they're like what, like a hippie metal type of thing going on.

Speaker 6:

Well, Brad called them Doomy. I was like Well, Brad called him Doomy. Here we go Doomy.

Speaker 4:

psychedelic, stoner, sludgy, alternative metal.

Speaker 6:

Yeah, they had a toga part. We're just rock and roll.

Speaker 4:

Oh, oh, I got you. I thought I was still explaining, like the genre.

Speaker 3:

I thought that was the genre.

Speaker 4:

Nah man. Yeah, mo Simpson, nate Wee that's the new genre Corey. What is that? Bennett and Ryan.

Speaker 6:

Corey Despenet. Sorry, Corey Jake so.

Speaker 2:

Mo Simpson, Nate Weak, Corey Despenet and Ryan Canure.

Speaker 1:

Shout out.

Speaker 3:

Yeah, shout out.

Speaker 2:

These guys are badasses. If you haven't seen them, you got to check them out.

Speaker 4:

Very unique sound.

Speaker 6:

All talented Played another band.

Speaker 4:

And that's the thing. They're the kind of band that can play in a room with a rock band. They can set up with the metal bands on a set, a couple metal bands. They can play with people next door, they can play with anybody. No offense to you guys. I just haven't seen you yet.

Speaker 5:

Their set's very entertaining. Oh, thanks.

Speaker 7:

You're leaving the set. I don't want to talk about the show, or? The set but it's gonna be very nasty. I can't wait, I'll tell you what?

Speaker 3:

that is the one thing, josh, you had it right it's not a sentence of show we do not yeah we're, you guys are yeah, we.

Speaker 7:

We love the, the entertainment aspect of it.

Speaker 6:

Yeah of course, you're performers.

Speaker 7:

You know I mean it's different, like we try very, very hard, like we turn it into like soccer practice.

Speaker 3:

Yeah, I remember you dinking away at those songs on the ukulele years ago.

Speaker 5:

For sure it's the same stuff.

Speaker 4:

You hear them back then and how much they. If you guys are single, you could be bringing the soccer moms. You know what I'm saying. You guys are single, you could be bringing the soccer moms.

Speaker 7:

These two.

Speaker 4:

Cody and I are married. We're married. Go for it.

Speaker 6:

It's about to be summer.

Speaker 4:

If you got any questions about how to pick up the ladies, you can always ask. Josh, I do drive a minivan.

Speaker 6:

There it is.

Speaker 7:

Brad has a minivan.

Speaker 6:

I have a. I got tennis shoes dude.

Speaker 1:

They're going to win him over with shoes and minivans. Shoes and minivans.

Speaker 2:

Those shepherd legs yo.

Speaker 4:

He likes to walk.

Speaker 1:

That's right. Good calves, good calves. He's a good man.

Speaker 4:

You know what kind of vibes this show has? John, excuse me. I said you know what kind of vibes this show has.

Speaker 3:

John, excuse me. I said you know what kind of vibes this show has. I think we're going to start off real heady with those stone doves and it's going to take heady.

Speaker 2:

Yeah like two-foot.

Speaker 3:

Heady, heady, fucking, chill man.

Speaker 4:

It's going to be there. It's got to be Just like the beers you find here at Reserve Artisan. It's kind of got some Timberfest vibes hey, hey, if you don't know Timberfest, you need to learn.

Speaker 3:

Yeah, I'm excited for the next. I'm excited for the next We'll start off Heady Light and then it's going to take off from there and all of it's going to be a party. Man, I think you can dance to any of this stuff, I will be.

Speaker 7:

Yeah. You know, when you actually go through the set itself, it's really crazy. Like having Liberty Street right before is so colossal, oh hell yeah. And then you have the people next door and then you have a sight beyond I mean it's. You get every single aspect of music literally.

Speaker 4:

You're going to get a little taste of everything, and if it, ain't your thing, come and see the WrestleMania.

Speaker 3:

Yeah, if it's not your thing, come and just see the wrestlemania yeah, if you're not, if it's not your thing, come and watch the wrestlemania, I mean everybody's gonna have a good time of some sort.

Speaker 4:

So what's up, brandon?

Speaker 2:

what's up. Also, all four of the bands he just uh talked about are all galesburg locals. Yes, we are all from here. Is that the railroad?

Speaker 6:

Get on the train.

Speaker 4:

All original music.

Speaker 1:

All original music.

Speaker 4:

G-Train. That's not G-Train.

Speaker 6:

That's not Lombard G-Train. Join the neighborhood man?

Speaker 4:

Yeah, I guess all you guys live Galesburg area, don't you? Yeah, all of you, for the most part.

Speaker 3:

Yeah, the neighborhood is growing. Jump on. We got hot soup on.

Speaker 7:

I guess I'm moving to Galesburg the beautiful part about it is like a lot of the times you know that you book like one and I'm not saying anything against cover bands because that is a career, they have their place Absolutely.

Speaker 7:

There's a career for those people out there. But a lot of the times when you're out there and you're writing original music, you have to team up with other people to give three to four hours of entertainment, and that's just the way it is. So it's really cool that we have this eclectic group of people. Look a show. We come with three yeah, and then we can all be friends. We are already friends we're friends first.

Speaker 4:

I love your friends and I. I absolutely love covering stuff like this because if I'm doing one of my shows, I got like three or four bands I gotta go out, I gotta talk to, I gotta know all the details about it. Like here, I can just sit back and you guys can brag about your show.

Speaker 3:

It's a non-gated community man not gated.

Speaker 5:

We cover creed songs and he john john pc.

Speaker 1:

That was so colossal they do, they do a very good job at Creed.

Speaker 3:

That does not represent us, you stop now. Someone's singing Creed. I'm done.

Speaker 7:

Sorry guys.

Speaker 3:

It's on tape forever.

Speaker 4:

I mean, if you guys are covering Creed songs, I'm all about it. I'm just saying I haven't had a divorce yet so come out with some new stuff.

Speaker 3:

What is the motive rap?

Speaker 2:

by Nickelback.

Speaker 4:

Nickelback, nickelback, my favorite.

Speaker 1:

Puddle of Mud.

Speaker 6:

Disturbed Disturbed just had their 25th anniversary.

Speaker 4:

Oh my goodness, what do you? Got Adam Something brewing.

Speaker 6:

Adam's going to be playing in like three bands. Isn't he like sitting?

Speaker 3:

there yeah there's.

Speaker 5:

MVP right there.

Speaker 3:

That's the thing about the neighborhood Should we talk about?

Speaker 1:

that Flabbergaster I have no idea about yet. Are you playing with him? They don't have a drummer.

Speaker 3:

Awesome. I said I wouldn't.

Speaker 4:

Hell yeah. So, his shirt will be off early. You can have their stuff figured out.

Speaker 3:

We had what was Gunner's band.

Speaker 2:

You're almost playing in more bands than you have tattoos.

Speaker 6:

Almost almost yeah. If if only yeah. When they lost their bass player, one of us jumped in.

Speaker 4:

It was me yeah, but more john pc tough. It's like the island of misfit toys, but with bands kind of yeah dude, do you need a bass player? Here we go do you need a drummer. Here we go other bands and stuff too, so yeah, you come in there so you come to galesburg, you got a whole bunch of guitar players and a whole bunch of vocalists. It's like we'll just yeah, that's not that's what makes you marketable, bro? And I like tacos and you love tacos. You speak my love language by it.

Speaker 5:

That's a terrible idea too, are kind of hard to come by.

Speaker 3:

We had all that gold you guys got that good backup vocalist.

Speaker 6:

You guys got that great backup vocalist. Every band that.

Speaker 5:

I've been in, it's always been hard to find a singer for some reason.

Speaker 3:

I'm a singer.

Speaker 5:

I got a funny story about that. Usually singers start the bands.

Speaker 4:

You usually got an issue with singers. You have guys that can sing and it's like come on, man, and they don't want to do it. Or you got guys that think they can sing and they can't. You literally have to kick them in the chest to keep them when I embarrass both these guys, they're like a rap. You want my mixtape, yeah you want the mixtape yeah.

Speaker 6:

No, you gotta have a good singer. You can't, that's not negotiable. Youable, you can, yeah. You could spoil a cake With a crappy icing. Every band we have.

Speaker 4:

I believe has a good singer, so that's a good. That's a good thing, especially Liberty Street. John's a good singer. That guy's John's a good singer.

Speaker 6:

He's emotional.

Speaker 4:

He screams. He's a good screamer, emotional screamer.

Speaker 6:

Scared me. Alright, guys An embarrassing story.

Speaker 2:

So, when we were at 2B's and everything talking about singing.

Speaker 6:

This is a funny one. John hadn't found his voice yet. Dixon was trying to sing too, and they thought, when you heard the waves, they're like. They're like, yeah, we're in tune.

Speaker 5:

But, no.

Speaker 3:

That means you're not in tune, or dad. Yeah, my dad recorded us on many days.

Speaker 7:

Wait, he got when you're recording, you hear everything, that's.

Speaker 4:

Oh yeah.

Speaker 7:

All the imperfections and yeah, I mean you got to learn when you're a kid, that's what makes it. That's what makes it, so it's like you. My dad made us do it single too, like professional. But you know what we were like 12, 13, 14 years old, you know. So I was glad that we had the opportunity to hear ourselves then, so that it would be the staple of what we need to not do, moving forward.

Speaker 6:

At that point in time the laser of the radio station was being ran out of my basement, so like DJs were just showing up and going down to the basement that we were recording, in Legitimately.

Speaker 7:

Yeah, we did our first, the laser. Yeah, we did commercials for the

Speaker 4:

radio station. We wrote a jingle. My dad's the boss of the radio station, hey, josh.

Speaker 6:

We wrote a jingle 92.7.

Speaker 7:

Hey, josh John.

Speaker 6:

Do you guys remember?

Speaker 7:

this one. It's like we love the laser.

Speaker 6:

Okay, listen to the laser.

Speaker 7:

All day we wrote that shit. Stuff here we.

Speaker 5:

Go yeah.

Speaker 6:

We did it, we did the basement yeah.

Speaker 5:

We gotta do A couple commercials.

Speaker 2:

Good we go. Yeah, we messed it down, we did it in the basement.

Speaker 6:

Yeah, we got to do a couple commercials, good, good.

Speaker 3:

We love the lasers.

Speaker 6:

We love the lasers. What?

Speaker 5:

is the Gillsburg radio station 20 years ago.

Speaker 7:

There's three.

Speaker 3:

I never heard that shit.

Speaker 6:

There's a new one 106.1. Bang boom, 105.3, WGIL. Fourth of July. New one 106.1.

Speaker 4:

uh bang boom, 3 wgil yeah, I think the onset of spotify and podcasts and everything else like everybody's just listening to their phone.

Speaker 6:

Man, yeah, my dad's going through serious and fucking xm and all that yeah, I mean yeah create your own avenue yeah, I used to always try to get the trivia in the morning.

Speaker 3:

I got it a couple times.

Speaker 6:

You called in.

Speaker 3:

Yeah, I used to have to work.

Speaker 4:

When I was doing before I found podcasts like I was listening to radio doing pest work all the time.

Speaker 3:

Every once in a while you find like a book on tape or a theater.

Speaker 4:

Yeah, and then you like call 15 times and answer the question. Boom Shinedown tickets.

Speaker 3:

Let's go, and during Christmas too.

Speaker 6:

And they'd be like I'd like to tell my sweetheart. Goodnight tonight. Casey, casey and JoJo.

Speaker 4:

Long distance dedication.

Speaker 3:

They answered man that was for sure what was that.

Speaker 2:

They were screening his calls. They screened all the calls. That's the job.

Speaker 4:

That's the job, bro.

Speaker 3:

You wouldn't work in that's the job you wouldn't work in.

Speaker 4:

That's a job you wouldn't work in radio, you wouldn't understand what else is going on at this thing, you said something about food trucks. They're going to be more than one food truck, so we will have our food truck open Awesome.

Speaker 2:

So our full menu will be available that day. I got some guys on it that are going to be working it. It should be fire. You can check us out on reserveartisannailscom. It'll show you our menu and our prices.

Speaker 4:

Speaker 2:

He's a good guy, he's gonna help us out a little bit, just to kind of mitigate the traffic, because there's gonna be a lot of people here. But it'll be great, we'll have food for you, no matter what. We also serve pizzas and pretzels and all sorts of hats, you got a dinner, or you got snacky foods.

Speaker 4:

Speaker 6:

Yeah, that's awesome. Yeah, that's when me and Hadhorn were riding in the back of that U-Haul.

Speaker 4:

Yeah, you guys were in the back of the U-Haul just drenched in sweat.

Speaker 6:

Smoking cigarettes Drenched in love.

Speaker 4:

I was like what in the hell is going on. It's like guys, just call me, I'll bring the truck down to haul your stuff. Instead, they're like we made memories.

Speaker 6:

They wanted this. Yeah, we did what's happening.

Speaker 4:

Hey, josh, what's happening?

Speaker 7:

I'm very sorry to say it's my son's bedtime, wow, still light out.

However, and if anyone hasn't seen smells kitchen, just look that up on youtube yep, I mean don't at your own discretion, funny just don't eat beforehand Anyhow, when it comes down to that so Killanoys is a mashup, like a bunch of different skits of small horror flicks that all kind of tie in together. I don't want to give too much away about the plot, because that's kind of the point, but yeah, you can watch me beat people to death with a brick.

Speaker 6:

Yeah, I'm excited. How long is it?
