Ralbag's Introduction to Chumash (Part 3 of 3)
Show Notes

In this third and final installment in this series (given at YBT on 9/30/20) we conclude our learning of the Ralbag's Introduction to Chumash. This was a jam-packed shiur in which we:
- revisit the last two paragraphs we rushed through last time, raising questions, giving answers, and providing clarifications along the way
- read through the Ralbag's exalted yet tragic plan for the two major works he intended to write, but didn't
- take up an example of the Ralbag's approach in action, as applied to the first mitzvah in Torah: peru u'revu (Bereishis 1:28)
- discuss the relationship between the Ralbag's approach and the Rambam's definition of Torah she'baal Peh and his "shelish" approach to Talmud Torah
- finish reading and discussing the pertinent parts of his intro
- take a guided tour through his commentary in order to show how to use it
- bonus content at the end: an answer to the question, "What should I learn this year for shnayim mikra besides Onkelos?" (spoiler: the answer is Onkelos)
רלב"ג - פתיחה לביאור התורה
רלב"ג - ביאור לבראשית א:כח
רמב"ם - משנה תורה, הקדמה
