Girls Can Do Anything! The Real World of Women In STEM w/ Jessica Kizovski
“I think we really need to pay attention to the messages we're sending young women and young girls about their future and what we expect of them.” - Jessica Kizovski
In honour of International Women In Engineering Day 2023, we're bringing back this episode with @jk_twentyone (a.k.a Jessica Kizovski), the former brand manager and lead product formulator at @veriphyskincare, a Canadian-made collection of clean, green skincare backed by science and a team of women in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math fields).
Before launching her career as a #STEMinist, Jessica worked at @sephoracanada as a makeup artist while studying science to eventually bridge her passions for beauty and theory, leading her to delve into cosmetic chemistry.
In this episode, we explore the following:
- STEM as a significant driver of the world economy
- The reasons why we see fewer women than men pursue careers in STEM
- Why more women leave their STEM careers
- Industry stereotypes
- Organizational diversity
- The fact that Veriphy might be the only beauty brand with a scholarship for young women entering STEM-related programs at university...
And more!
