The Quest with Nick Horiates & Cole Jamison

42 - Secrets to Success: Lessons from Navy SEAL David Goggins

"There is no better way to grow as a person than to do  something everyday you hate.”
-David Goggins

One of the most challenging things to do is embrace your insecurities and get outside of your comfort zone. We naturally tend to gravitate towards the familiar and avoid any discomfort which could potentially arise if we were to try new things, meet new people, or encounter something unexpected. But, what would happen if we decide to cross the threshold of comfort and enter into the realm of the unknown?

Enter David Goggins. In the journey that started with Goggins being 300 pounds and spraying for cockroaches, ultimately saw him to graduating SEAL school, running ultramarathons, a best selling author, and becoming one of the most inspirational speakers of our time. By constantly embracing his insecurities, seeking out discomfort every day, and constantly pushing the boundaries of what the human mind and body are capable of, Goggins has created a person who can't be stopped.

This week's episode features Nick and Cole discussing David Goggins book, Can't Hurt Me: Master Your Mind and Defy the Odds. Throughout their conversations, Nick and Cole cover the 40% Rule, why our ability to push ourselves must be used everyday or we lose it, the 5 Second Rule, why it's important to callous your mind, the importance of scheduling your "free-time" and how to be uncommon amongst the uncommon.
