LIKEITORNOT is back with another entertaining episode for your listening pleasure. Dive into the sultry sounds of a drunken sailor, as host AHyp, introduces the LIKEITORNOT family to Sam the man, SamTooPersonal on Instagram, in this 1 hour & 6 minute long episode that you’ll keep the earbuds in for as you walk into work or cook or whatever the hell it is your doing at the moment. Background beats by Truss One make it easy to listen too and the fact I don’t edit this thing also allows the listeners to hear it all.. the fuck ups, the rebounds and the bounce back. We talk about Sam’s music background & that time when he was a part of the Seattle rap scene, shoutout to Casual Product, Burien stand up. He speaks on his journey becoming an online influencer, documenting his weight loss journey, being a comedian (by nature dude is just hilarious!) and being authentic. He tells you how to do it and tells us what works for him. Step by step, literally. Recorded live, midday at Pizza Time Pub, in the heart of the 6th Avenue business district, this episode was unofficially sponsored by Rainier Beer. Ironically, Sam speaks on his journey with sobriety, balancing fatherhood and work, all while becoming an online influencer. He tells us how he does it, how he maintains and how he presses forward. A funny but truly inspiring episode. The sky was blue all day and Rick kept the Rainier’s coming all show, this was a fun one. I appreciate the hell outta all you out there listening, hope y’all like it.

SPEAKER_05Like It or Not.
SPEAKER_02That's right, folks, like it or not. And we are back again here, guys, live on the Ave again, live at Peach Time Pub. When I say we, I mean me, your host, A Hip, and another very special guest, folks, we have brought into the building today. Let's get that Truss One cue, though. What's going on here, A Hip? We're just trying to soak it up here with some instrumentals here. Yeah, Trust, what's going on, bro? Tacoma, how we doing? Um, all right, guys, I mean, I'm l let's just get right into it right now, guys. We have a very special guest in the house. Now, you know, it's a lifestyle podcast, so we have all people from all walks of life that come on the podcast. Chefs, old hoopers, fucking passers by that just walk by and sit down. But right now, guys, we have my boy Sam in the house. Sam, what the fuck is going on, man? Sam too personal, man.
SPEAKER_04Yes, sir.
SPEAKER_02Welcome to the pod.
SPEAKER_04Thanks, man. Thanks for having me in. You know what?
SPEAKER_02And I'm and I'm known for fucking butchering intros, bro. I think it's like part of the game is to butcher an intro. You know what I'm saying? That was on point. That was on point. Um man, so uh, everyone for um for those of the that don't know you, you just let everybody know like where you're from and shit and like who you are, real quick. You know what I'm saying?
SPEAKER_04Like, and yeah, so I'm uh Sam, Sam too personal on Instagram is kind of what everybody's going to know me by now. But yeah, I'm from originally I'm from Birion, Washington. That's why I was born and raised. Lambaum, like Travis Thompson. Let's fucking go. I actually know, I I don't know if I'll say I know Travis Thompson like that, but back way back when when I was in the Seattle music scene, I'm a I'm a drummer, I've been drumming for 20 years, but I had a little stab at music and rapping. And at one point in time, he was the host. I'm pretty sure he'll correct me if I'm wrong if he hears this, but uh he was the host at uh K-E-XP, I think it was, at one point.
SPEAKER_02Travis Thompson?
SPEAKER_04I believe so, like a long time ago. Or he was affiliated with them at some point.
SPEAKER_02He was probably up on there just rapping and getting interviewed.
SPEAKER_04Something like that. He, you know, somebody will correct me if I'm wrong. I'm sure.
SPEAKER_02Larry Mizell? I don't know if you know Larry Mizell.
SPEAKER_04I I don't know if I do know him.
SPEAKER_02Larry Mizell Jr., the Mizell brothers and shit. There was his father and his uncles, but he was he's been a KEXP DJ for years, too. But that's not the same person, I'm not saying that.
SPEAKER_04But they used to do shows, I think, at some point near like the Seattle Center.
SPEAKER_02And and Yeah, and they they'd have people on, like I'll fight you. Remember I'll fight you from back in the day? Like they went up there and did a KEXP like a New Year's Eve.
SPEAKER_04I'm pretty sure he was affiliated with them somehow at some point. And and yeah, I I know him from way back. I think he wasn't even rapping at that point. He was just doing that.
SPEAKER_02Claim to fame real quick, but A Hip is on two Travis Thompson albums on a song with logic called 81. Now, Travis is dope, man. And I'm on there, I'm not rapping, I'm just on there fucking talking, just like saying shit, like in the background. You know what I mean? And it was a fucking pleasure to get in the call. I'm not trying to toot my own horror. This is one of the cool things that people don't know about me. Because I get the call from Travis one morning and I'm like, is this a butt dial? Oh, really? You know what I mean? I just answered the call. He's like, yo, what's going on, hip? Hey man, I was wondering if you can do some voiceovers for my fucking new album coming up. Yeah, 100%. He's like, kind of talk about, and they told me, gave me like the outline, and I kind of spent that morning all up until I was sending them shit till like 10 p.m.
SPEAKER_05Really?
SPEAKER_02Like my wife's grocery shopping, and my son's in the backseat, and I'm just in there just fucking doing my little these voiceovers in the car. Like, and he took, he just squashed it all up and made some shit, but it was it's a it was awesome.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, you got a you got a really good uh soothing radio voice. You have the voice for it for sure.
SPEAKER_02How no, I'm not trying to put you on blast, but how old are you then? So what what today's my birthday? So you're 20 and happy motherfucking birthday.
SPEAKER_03God damn it, happy birthday.
SPEAKER_0283 though, it's crazy.
SPEAKER_05Somebody called me a chopped unk, dude.
SPEAKER_02Dude, man, if you're a chopped unk of a chopped unk, I'm turning 46, man, and mother 40, motherfucking six. It's uh it's mind-blowing, dog.
SPEAKER_04You know what though? I'll say I'll give you this. Your style is impeccable for your age. I don't mean that in a in a rude way at all.
SPEAKER_02Like, man, I appreciate that, bro.
SPEAKER_04You uh when I saw your outfit, I was like, dang, man, I I need to uh I need to step my game up.
SPEAKER_02Well, I mean shit, that that fucking jersey. I need to get me a blue hawk surgey look. That's a Mitchell Inez classic right there, too. Well, that's a I mean you can tell that's like an old that's like Mitchell INS.
SPEAKER_04This is this is my brother's before he passed away. He left this wasn't his house, and I was like, I'm gonna I'm gonna I'm keeping that. Damn, bro.
SPEAKER_02I just got fucking goosebumps like a motherfucker, bro.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, he lives on. It's a he he yeah, he left me with a bunch of cool shit that I just keep around. Just like this, man. This shit's dope.
SPEAKER_02Man, before we get too carried away, what was your rap name? You I gotta ask us because we're talking about you had a shot in the Seattle rap name. Were you living up there at that time in Byron?
SPEAKER_04Nah, I wasn't. I I think I was in the Federal Way area at that point, but I was casual product and I I casual product, okay. Yeah, and I used to go by Cash, but I I spelled it hella weird. Like, I how did I spell it? I spelled it like C-A-Z-S-H or some shit just to try to do that. Yeah, because you couldn't be like casual. And I think at that point, Bean was like, yo, we have somebody named Casual already, so don't go by that. I was like, I'll go by that.
SPEAKER_02So how did you end up knowing Bean One then? Shout out to fucking the legend that is Bean One, guys.
SPEAKER_04If you know you fucking deaf for so long. Yeah, yeah, originally. When I was a kid, um Fierce, he used to work at the Top Rilla Community Center. And I was one of the kids that he was like, you know, a uh Camp Two.
SPEAKER_02Dude, what are so Benito Blanco? Exactly. So fucking Benito years later, this is all wild.
SPEAKER_04I saw they were still rapping. I'm like, no way, I know him. I I hit him up, and you know, I was like, dang, I support you guys in music or whatever. You know, years go by and I get out of high school and I'm I started rapping and I obviously play the drums. I'm from a musical background, so yeah, I I uh we ended up me and the group that I was kind of affiliated with at that point, ended up linking up with Bean One and all them. And yeah, bro, he's like, What? Sam it was just like a full circle moment.
SPEAKER_02So you had known Bean, okay.
SPEAKER_04So you're I know in SEV uh SEV and I know uh Fierceville.
SPEAKER_02Sev or whatever, so yeah, yeah. Man, yeah, trust is like tight with those guys too. Trust one, the guy we're playing right now.
SPEAKER_04Underrated ass group from Seattle, bro. Like when uh Three Bad Brothers came out, I was like, This is the fucking shit right here. Space music was my shit forever.
SPEAKER_02Man, um, so during that time, your favorite Seattle artist was if you had to think back on it.
SPEAKER_04I I would probably say Dime Deaf. And I mean I go way back to it with like Faeta Luciano. I uh come on, bro.
SPEAKER_02Oh my gosh. So there was a time when like you remember there was a dude named Eric Soterquist, there was a dude named Doe Kane up here from Block Rip. Block rep was some real ass motherfucking street dudes. They weren't bloodsher crips, but they were some real ass street dudes, and they are some real ass street dudes still, but they're making their money in legal ways now, and they're staying out of fucking the joint and shit. You know what I'm saying? You gotta flip it. But uh Doughboy and Fatal Ludluciano have a fucking song and they want to do a rap video over it. So we we go to the fucking Cherry Park or Cherry fucking some park and we meet Fatal and shit, and like such a fucking just a down-to-earth dude. He's the cool thing. He was heavily volved, he means sporting life records. Devon, come on, let's fucking go, spaceman.
SPEAKER_04I at one point I remember I lost weight when I was younger. Spaceman cut my hair.
SPEAKER_05He's like, he's like, damn, bro, you're the same motherfucker. Yeah, he's like, you don't even like the same person anymore.
SPEAKER_02And we're gonna get into that too, you know what I'm saying? Because people are just like, all right, well, what the fuck? You were talking about are you on here live right now? Yes, live. Yo, sports fans, what's going on? Y'all, how we doing? How we do it. Um man, Sam, like, okay, so speaking of this, speaking of that little fucking phone right there and all the shit you're doing, like, let's not talk about why you're here. But like, first of all, remember meeting me, bro, at the Northern on Pearl?
SPEAKER_04Yeah, I remember I remember meeting you.
SPEAKER_02So T Blesy's your boy, right, Tristan? Or is that who I met you through? I I keep on fucking like wondering, like, how the fuck I don't remember why.
SPEAKER_04Or maybe no, you know what it was? I think Justice was doing a show there. Uh, or a or a DJ set there. Um, I think it's the outsiders, is what they go by.
SPEAKER_02Okay, okay, okay.
SPEAKER_04And I think that's why I was there that night was to see them play. But you ended up being there.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, and I'm not sure if we knew each other from fucking social media, dude, or just from like a fucking mutual young buck around town.
SPEAKER_04I had seen you and heard about your podcast and shit, and I was like, that's cool. When I saw you, I was like, you should have me on because I got a lot of shit to talk about. You're like, yes, for sure.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, and so you know, and I gotta get better with that because it's like I got you know a list of fucking 79 people, and it's like and I keep on like, you know, well, it's it's hard. Time is of the essence, though, you know what I'm saying? But um, but uh dude, so let's talk about like at that point where you were at in your journey, and like why you started this journey, because wasn't it originally like you know, you've been tracking your weight loss journey for since when?
SPEAKER_04Yeah, for it's this is going on three years, so two years ago.
SPEAKER_02From the same Sam too personal page, yeah.
SPEAKER_04From this same page, I just flipped it in into what it is now because my boy Chris was like, Man, he's like, just do you like you're you have the personality for it, but you're trying to do fitness shit. He's like, that's cool, but just let it be a part. Don't don't make it your whole thing. Like you're you're gonna pigeonhole yourself. But but initially, yeah, bro. I was posting every single first of the month, I would post an update of my body to show people like uh this is my accountable page, and it was called a counter-that's right, accountable fitness.
SPEAKER_02Oh, so that's separate from from Sam2 Personal.
SPEAKER_04It was now, it's all just on my page now. Yeah, yeah. Originally, that's what it was, and now Sam2 Personal is I just changed the name. And the algorithm picked me up because I was doing comedy stitches. But initially, yeah, it was only fitness stuff. You can go back and watch all my old fitness content. I was doing like comedy skits too and stuff, and I'll still do some of those sometimes.
SPEAKER_02But no, that's what I'm seeing more of now. Like it's and it's almost like it it almost feels like that's what people are there for now, is the oh stitch incoming or incoming stitch, you know.
SPEAKER_04Yep, and then then you'll scroll through the comments and they'll be like, Whoa, like I I followed you because you're funny, but I had no idea that you you're an inspiration. Or they'll say things like that. Well, no, I've dude, I'd be in your I'd be in the comments.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I'm in the comments checking everything out and reading what people are saying, and there's there's no one hating, like, you know what I mean? Like some people may might not expect certain things from you.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, if if if they're not hating, you're not doing something right.
SPEAKER_02And that's no, and I heard that when I first heard that, I was kind of like, damn, bro.
SPEAKER_04Yeah.
SPEAKER_02I didn't, you know, I mean it was hard for me to like, damn, people, there's someone other that doesn't like me. Like, what the how could you not like me? And that type of attitude. It's like, dude, people are fucking miserable. Yeah, definitely. And uh you just gotta let them be, you know.
SPEAKER_04Well, you know, when people don't have motion, they gotta find somebody with motion to critique, you know what I mean? And it's just it just is what it is.
SPEAKER_02No, yeah, for sure, man. Uh um, dude, since I mean, like, I this is gonna be a like it or not, bro. I'm gonna be all over the place. No, you're good, you know. Um, but I mean, like, um, okay, how about this, man? Like, I mean, like we can jump right into the backstory and like like was there like a moment when you realize, like, you know, I'm gonna fucking start really putting my all into this and like take it to a new level, like with my consistency and yeah, 100%. Like, what was that like and like and how do you fucking maintain that?
SPEAKER_04I I originally it stemmed from my weight loss. Once I knew that I had what it took to be disciplined, just have that title for myself, I knew I could flip it at some point, I just didn't know how. So I I used my platform for you know the foreseeable future to try everything I could, whether it was comedy stitches, whether it was, you know, funny gym videos or or whatever it was until something finally stuck. But I I thought from for me personally, what was gonna work was like my transformation videos. Like someone was gonna see a transformation flip and be like, oh, this is the guy. But people do not give a fuck about that.
SPEAKER_02Like, well, I mean, dude, people want to change, like you know, as much as like dudes that are fat want to get skinny, dudes that are fucking skinny, like you know, my bill, they want to get a fucking six pack and get bigger and put like 20 pounds on. Right, yeah. You know what I and all of it's all about is dedication, commitment, and how bad do you fucking want it?
SPEAKER_04100%. Yeah, I knew I knew when it when when everything changed was that conversation with my boy Chris. He's on Instagram as uh Scumbag Tiki, but he he scumbag Tiki, shout out to Scumbag Tiki Sports. He's a G. But yeah, he he was like, bro, flip your shit. And and then once I started doing the comedy sketches, the authenticity came to my mind because I was like, I'm just gonna be myself. I just put it out there. I'm like, fuck it, I'm just gonna do whatever entails me as a person.
SPEAKER_02Okay, yeah.
SPEAKER_04And if they if it works, if if it works, it works. If it doesn't, it's like, what do I have to lose? I'm not I'm not risking a Fortune 500 company or anything.
SPEAKER_02And that's why when I lose my 300 bucks at the casino, I'm like, dude, it can be 1300, it could be 3300, it doesn't fucking matter. And so that basically answers my next question, which is like, how do you decide, you know, what to show versus what to keep off social media during like post every this is fucking processed. Post it all. Post it all.
SPEAKER_04You're not you're not a brand if you don't have a brand yet. You're building it. Post it all. No one's gonna be able to do it.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, and that goes right back to what you just said, you know. I mean, number one, no risk it, no biscuit. Yep, you're not gonna get better if you don't try. Yeah. Michael Jordan shoots air balls, Kobe. I mean, come on, guys.
SPEAKER_04I know guys that are so well polished on social media and their shit does so well, and I'm like, bro, bra, bra fucking oh, because like the way that you do that, it's it's magic. I'm not that guy. I'm a fucking flyby. All my shit is one take, all my shit is like off the cuff.
SPEAKER_02You see, I like I think that's the best thing. You're genuine, and uh, I think even with with myself, I think that that's a that's a nice mentality to have a nice approach to be genuine. People see authenticity, yep, and they like that shit.
SPEAKER_04But you know what comes with that is the capitalization on my mistakes and spelling or something little that people pick out in a video with editing or that, and it's like pick it out, and I'm gonna laugh there with you, and we're gonna create engagement out of it then. Fuck it.
SPEAKER_02Because I know I'm not good at it, so well no, no, let's keep it rocking. No, not keep it rocking, but I'm saying that this there has to be this, and you have to probably remember remember one. But was there a certain post that kind of unexpectedly like fucking blew up and kind of changed how you talked about the fucking process at all?
SPEAKER_04Yeah, there was there was initially the the post that I made about the girl with a knife. The one with the duck feather knife.
SPEAKER_02Uh oh, yeah, then you had a fucking actual, the actual dude. That's the funny I see your shit, bro. Like I watch your fucking shit. Like, I'm just like not.
SPEAKER_04I'm not trying to give myself credit, but I flipped that as smart as I could because when that went kind of viral and I had some momentum behind it, I said, let me find the company that made the knife, and I'm gonna do a giveaway with that knife.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, so people know you're not a fucking dickhead, like just trying to get because there's some dudes on there that are just like they thrive on that.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, yeah, but I look at you, yeah. But I turned that that's that that was the pivotal point where I was like, I'm gonna turn a viral moment into my year, and and that snowballed because now I'm doing it again with now. This time it's not the knife, it's my merch. But next time it's gonna be a PlayStation 5, and then next thing I'm gonna be giving away a car with Mr. Beast or whatever the fuck is it? I mean, who knows, dude?
SPEAKER_02I mean, like it's sky's the fucking limit.
SPEAKER_04I I'm I'm shooting for the stars, and if I land on Mars, I'll be all good. It's you know, it is what it is.
SPEAKER_02Tell the people, or just tell me, or tell me, you know, like how important it truly is to like be consistent, and not just in with the posting, but I mean the since we are talking about that and you going viral and stuff like that, and kind of being holding a level, you know, how important really, really, is it? And what's it take, man? Like it takes a toll on you too. You're a family.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, that that is the the thing that most people forget to mention in the in any journey. It's whether it's a career, whether it's your your social media, it doesn't matter what it is, but consistency, it really matters more than anything else. I think uh I think you definitely have to hone in first on your niche, but after you find that, the consistency behind it is what matters. I've watched so many podcasts with so many famous streamers, influencers, rappers, and they all say the same shit. They're like, You have to go every day. You have to go every day. And then I thought back to my my weight loss training. I'm like, how did I win two weight loss competitions back to back in my gym? I went every day. Yeah, I mean, and I just transferred it to my social media.
SPEAKER_02You didn't fucking get liposuction.
SPEAKER_04Hell no, bro. I still got fucking.
SPEAKER_02Or what's that? Oh, oh, oh, oh.
SPEAKER_04No. Nah, yeah, I I didn't I didn't use any uh I didn't use any stereotype enhancements. Yeah, man. It was uh it was just literally dedication and hard work. It wasn't Nipsey Hustle, man. Dedication. Yeah, when when when people you know when people hear me talk, sometimes they think I'm bullshit.
SPEAKER_02And I'm like, you guys can go back and look at my I documented nearly the whole thing on my no you yeah, and yeah, dude, it's it's fucking it's crazy to see because it's like yo, that's what can happen. That's what the here's the tools. There's no secrets, you're not gatekeeping shit.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, no, no, you know, I I'm constantly hitting up people with like 500 followers and and they're like, how do I do this? I'm like, look, do it like this, do this, this, and this, and and and they'll hit me back, like, bro, thank you. I'm like, I'm not gatekeeping shit, man. Everyone deserves to know.
SPEAKER_02Um, dude, fucking hey, I got some fucking solid questions here, and I want to keep on picking your brain because I myself am like fucking finding out that I'm not that I don't have what it takes, it's just you know, not being consistent, bro. It's just so fucking huge.
SPEAKER_04Uh, the biggest part in discipline is the biggest thing.
SPEAKER_02But um fuck, I got some good ones here. Like the hardest habit you had to unlearn. Like, you know, that had nothing to do though with the food or the workouts. If that can fucking be a real question that's that a real question?
SPEAKER_04Probably just telling myself that it's okay to slack off, or it's okay to this, or I'll make an excuse. You know, you have to- You gotta love yourself, right? You have to, bro. Do you know this this routine in your head where you go, I'm gonna have one last little cheat meal, I'm gonna start on Monday. That shit translates to one more beer. Exactly. It's all good. I'm not gonna drink shots, I'm gonna have a beer. Slowly kill you, I promise. It almost killed me the way that it was attacking my life. I had to unlearn that habit more than any other thing.
SPEAKER_02I mean, were you reading books about it? I mean, I mean, like You know I can't read. Do you listen to this guy? You listen to like Rob Dial and dudes like that, right?
SPEAKER_04Like successful, like being like listen to Eric Thomas a lot when I was younger and and then into this journey too, but he was Eric Thomas? Yeah, Eric Thomas is a motivational speaker. I listen to him a lot. Fuck yeah. And like uh I've I've heard some Gaga, I won't I won't give give him all the credit, but I've I've heard a lot of his shit did help me. But yeah, Eric Thomas was a was a I I would go in the gym and listen to him talk. I wouldn't listen to music. I was listening to him talk and just pump weights. And that that for me was yeah.
SPEAKER_02Hey, for two seconds, I'm gonna go turn this big this beat up and I'm gonna fucking crack that door real quick. Yep. One second.
SPEAKER_03Yep.
SPEAKER_02Trust one, sports fans. We're at work right now, right?
SPEAKER_04Who knows, bro? I got people hitting me up from all over the world. Sometimes I'll go live at like 10 p.m. on a Sunday and people are like, I'm in Australia. Like, what are you doing here?
SPEAKER_02Um I'm gonna kind of go back just a second real quick. Like, what's like the craziest fucking thing you've seen in your DMs?
SPEAKER_04Oh, I don't even know if I can say it.
SPEAKER_02Oh, you probably can't. That's what I was thinking.
SPEAKER_04I think anything that you can imagine, I've it's been in my DMs, which which honestly blows my mind because I'm still a nobody, but it's it doesn't for some reason it doesn't matter. It's like people think this person has a hundred thousand followers, he's famous. It doesn't work like that, and they will fucking message you the wildest shit.
SPEAKER_02It's I mean so like, oh my god, I ate this flaxkeeth oil and I had this flaxkeet oil on my yogurt, and I was just like, wasn't sure. What do you think is it gonna be good for me? How about this was gonna be okay?
SPEAKER_04I can say it. It the craziest shit was this person messaged me. They started out cool, and you know me. I I Hey, what's up, Sam? Just cool. And I'm like, what's up, right? They were like, I like your teeth. I'm like, here we go.
SPEAKER_02I mean, you do got some white ass teeth, man. I'm saying mine are yellow, but you know, they they are kind of.
SPEAKER_04This is my fault because I'm like, you know what? You thanks for the compliment, as long as it doesn't get weird. And they're like, speaking of that, they send me a video. I'm dumb. I opened the video. Uh this random person, this girl, shows me her dresser stand. It has a bowl, a nightstand bowl with teeth in it. And and and she was like my age, maybe. I I didn't go to like old lady. I went like dentures, I went, that's a cannibal. Did you block her? Yeah, of course. Yeah, of course not.
SPEAKER_02Damn, she's probably you can't do that.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, hell yeah.
SPEAKER_02You block one fan. I mean, but you know sometimes. She's probably if she if she's so said you had nice, nice teeth and she actually collects teeth. I'm like, you're collecting teeth? She's watching right now. I see you over there.
SPEAKER_04I don't know why people are so obsessed with my teeth. I was so self-conscious about it my whole life. My my homies used to make fun of me and call me fucking buck tooth boy and shit.
SPEAKER_02But so would you have some fucking dental work done then or something? Or what?
SPEAKER_04No, I just brushed my teeth.
SPEAKER_02You just grew into your own.
SPEAKER_04You just I just brush my teeth, but I I I uh have this thing going, it's like a uh a recurring joke where I'm trying to get Crest to give me a brand deal, so now every often I'll tag them and be like, they want to know what I use for my toothpaste. I'm like, hit up Crest, let them know because I'm not saying shit till I get a brand deal. Right. I mean you gotta be like that.
SPEAKER_02It's fucking funny, you know, but it's it's it's it's an angle. Yeah. It's a fucking angle.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, you gotta you gotta you gotta play into the engagement at least.
SPEAKER_02Um, no, this is probably a not I'm not there's no dumb questions, man, but do you ever feel pressure to like stay at a certain fucking weight now that your brand is tied with it, or do you are you gonna try to keep looking like you're trying to look like me, maybe, or no, I do, I do, bro. I'm fucking joking. When I say look like me, you don't mean a skinny fat guy.
SPEAKER_04I I I have the pressure on my mind at all times.
SPEAKER_02I mean, yeah, that's just law. I mean I fucking much love, dog.
SPEAKER_04I mean it's it's always like Like when I when I bulked through this winter and I gained a little more weight than I wanted to, I think I went from like, I must have been like, I don't know, 210 or 220, and I went up to 250. I was like, damn, I'm fat now. But I gained strength and I gained muscle, so I don't feel like that.
SPEAKER_02That was that was on your journey. Yeah, this is the same thing. You fluctuate. It's not like you fucking keep on going.
SPEAKER_04I'm like, listen, bro, I lost, I lost 140 pounds in a year. I know how to lose weight. So I'm not worried if I put it back on. But the smart thing to do is go, how do I, how do I mitigate the unnecessary weight gain for the next time? So, you know, the next time I put on weight for a bulk, I won't, I won't gain as much fat because I know what I'm doing now. But that's the first time I've ever done it in my life. So you can't expect the world from me. I'm not being coached by you know the best people in the world. I I never I don't pay for coaching. I don't this is all just me.
SPEAKER_02That's his discipline. I mean, some people gets her like that, you know. Like I mean, I was like that when I wanted something. When I wanted to be a good basketball player, I Pardon me, pardon the Raine Ears. I I was in the gym every day. I was at the Y every fucking day. I wasn't smoking and drinking. I didn't have a fucking girlfriend, you know, all these things that can fucking, you know, get in your way.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, it's definitely uh it's definitely a constant battle, man. I will say this, if I if I could afford a coach, like a real coach and nutritionist, I would I would do it any anytime. It's it's worth it for sure.
SPEAKER_02No, I know I don't know if if you've gotten this big, but I I know that you you probably you you're getting closer, you're there. But like, I mean, do you uh how do you deal with like with people with people who like use your story as proof? Anyone can do it if they just try it.
SPEAKER_04Um I I think there's there is some truth to that, but you know that what people forget is is that call back to consistency and Rome wasn't built in a fucking thing. Yeah, you have to, yeah, yeah. You have to you have to believe in yourself first and you have to want to do it yourself. I see so many people that that think they want it, and then it's like you can't even fucking post once a day.
SPEAKER_02Right.
SPEAKER_04You know what I mean? Like that sound when I heard that, I was like, how the fuck are these people posting once a day? That it that blows my mind. I'm like, I have a job, a kid, a family, a mortgage. Yeah, I can't post once a day. That's not possible.
SPEAKER_02Well, I mean, I I get into my head personally, and I'm like, damn, I don't want to be distasteful and post too much. No, bro. You know that dude Nikki Cass? You follow Nikki Cass, the little fucking white dude. He puts like he's the fucking like in New York. He's been blowing up, he does like the coach and shit, and he's like, he's like puts the coach and the pillow in his stomach, he's like be the big coach at the end in the New York's little white dude, like five eight. I'll have to look it up though. He's like, same advice you're giving right now. It's literally like you can never post too much. If you want something, if you see your goal, never listen to the fucking noise, bro. You know what I'm saying?
SPEAKER_04Matter of fact, you should probably hear it. You should probably reshare the shit you've already posted because that's what he also said, too. Billions of people in the haven't seen it.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, and it's like it's not distasteful, it's not like you're running out of ideas. It's no, it's not a that's also hell yeah, you said that exactly.
SPEAKER_04Instagram will prioritize repost if you have a viral reel. Every they they just said this too. Like every 30 to 90 days, you should take that reel, reformat it, use the same reel but reformat it, maybe a different hook or song, and then repost it again and see if it'll go viral for you again. Why are you working hard? You already created a masterpiece, let it let it sell again.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, let it cook.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, re-release the masters, you know what I'm saying?
SPEAKER_02Man, so you said you were from Tacoma then, born and raised? No. No, Burian, Burian, Burian. So you went to where'd you go to high school at that?
SPEAKER_04Uh well, I didn't go to high school in Burian. I moved out of Burian, uh shit, what was it, man? I think I was seventh grade or eighth grade, and and then came to the Federal Way area. That's kind of where I grew up in that that uh so Decatur type shit or something? I went to Decatur, yeah. I went to Decatur and Federal Way High School. I got kicked out of both, though. I was a bad kid, man. Really? Yeah, I was so bad in high school. I got expelled like three times. I was terrible. For doing what? Just bad shit. Like fighting drugs.
SPEAKER_02He doesn't want to tell us about it.
SPEAKER_04No, I'm open about it. People already know about it. I I had a I had a big thing.
SPEAKER_02Wait, you like smoking weed and shit back in the day?
SPEAKER_04Yeah, you know, I was I was dabbling with the uh extracurriculars? With the extracurricular uh money making side of it of the side of it, you know what I mean? Yeah, fuck yeah. A little bit of seaweed.
SPEAKER_02I was a fucking seller just so I can get like free weed, and then I tried to like telling everybody and their mom, and then someone tried to do tried to rob me and didn't get my weed though, luckily. And then I stopped selling weed. I was like, get a gun or quit, and I quit because fuck getting a gun.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, I was I was well known in in Federal Way for a little bit.
SPEAKER_02Damn, I wonder if I've ever bought a sack.
SPEAKER_04It's nothing to glori uh glamorize though or dude.
SPEAKER_02Sahali park outdoors at night, dude, hooping. I used to go up there so fucking much, dude. Such memories from Sahali, dude.
SPEAKER_04Now, Federal Way shaped me in a lot of ways, man. I got a lot of homies still out there, but I'm glad I live.
SPEAKER_02It's a little I'd say it's a little more lawless, a little more hardcore, I'd say, bro.
SPEAKER_04Oh, yeah. I've been I've been involved with some pretty obscure situations out there. I'm a man of many situations for sure.
SPEAKER_02Dude, I mean like you wake up almost fucking every other day back then and would see a murder somebody on 320th, you know what I'm saying? It's like you know, a lot of a lot of fucking drug dealing out there, a lot of shit.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, you gotta like as a as a adolescent, as a teenager, you gotta go through a bunch of shit to find yourself. And I didn't really find myself until like way later in life. I was always worried about it. You know, I wanted to be a rapper and I played drums my whole life, so I was like, music is it.
SPEAKER_02But how'd the music how how was the music in your family like was it like church related or like dad?
SPEAKER_04No, we didn't go to church. He's just a he he's just a musical powerhouse. Was he in Twisted Sister or something like that? Or what? What the fuck was that? Yeah, he played he played in a bunch of bands. I think the band he was in in the 80s was The Kind, but he he used to uh he used to come home from work, construction, and then he was a framer, and then he'd come home, make sure we were straight, and then he'd go play his gigs at like the Seaports Lounge and uh the Double Tree Hotel. He'd go play there, or or like Saltie's on Al Kai or not, Saltie's my bad, redondo, and and you know, find these little gigs to go play, and that's how he had the extra money to you know support us. Damn, he was that's fucking dope.
SPEAKER_02Well, you gotta think though, back then, man, people like him, there's no there's nothing, there's no social media, there's no it's so if he has his little niche, he's gonna get it around that area exactly. Exactly.
SPEAKER_04Yep, yeah. But he was like, You wanna you wanna play the drums? I'm like, Yeah, I had an interest in the drums and like second grade. So second I was in Ashka. Second fucking grade. Second grade, I've been playing the the drums for shit. I think it's yeah, it's been like over 20 years now.
SPEAKER_02So then after your rap career, did you get in any bands then too, or what?
SPEAKER_04Nah, not really. I was playing drums with with uh one of my homies back then. Uh his his name is Romero. I don't know if he still raps, though. I think he still does, but I'm not sure. I lost touch with a lot of people after my brother passed away. I kind of like went into a hole, you know, depression.
SPEAKER_02So how old how much older than he was he than you? My brother? Was he younger, older?
SPEAKER_04No, he was older. He was uh 15 months older than me.
SPEAKER_02Damn. How old was he? How old were you guys when he passed?
SPEAKER_04Well, was he 20 or was he 28?
SPEAKER_02What happened, bro? I mean, not like that. I mean, I always want to revisit it.
SPEAKER_04No, it's good. I I'll all the shit I've talked about too at some point on my page, too. But yeah, it was just uh a shitty um overdose situation. Just you know, got hurt at work. The classic routine with you know, you know how Seattle is, man. It's fucked up out here with opiates and what I mean. He got hurt though. Yeah, get on get gets back into it, and then it's like, you know, f found him and shit. It was just all downhill.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I think unfortunately know a couple similar stories, man.
SPEAKER_04And that's the craziest part, is like I've actually found some relief and it resonated with a lot of people that have been through that same exact experience. So I was afraid to talk about it, but talking about it, it resonates with people because they're like, bro, that same exact thing happened to me, and then you kind of you know, you build that relationship and ecosystem with people that understand you. So that helped me a lot actually talking about it. Yeah, it's it's a it was a rough go.
SPEAKER_02Here, we're gonna take a little two-secondary moment of silence real quick. That's for big bro.
SPEAKER_04Where's Trust one at? He's around though. I know he's I know he's looking down. This shit all it's crazy because all this shit happens and there's so many little instances that I'm like, this motherfucker had a part in that.
SPEAKER_02No, I see. I mean, and you have to keep on believing that, man. 100%. Um now, you know, I told you I was gonna go all around the board here and go back to certain things, man. Like dumbest fucking like a trend, like dumbest fitness trend that you almost fell for. Um how would you roast it now, if you can even think of one?
SPEAKER_04You know what? I think I think the I don't know if it's even dumb, but when I was losing the weight this time, I I I was really heavily involved in learning about like hypertrophy. You know, like Dr. Mike Isratel. What say it again? What's it what's that? Hypertrophy. Like um for me, I've never heard that in my fucking life, dog. So for me, there's you know the the age of the thing. Learn something new every day, you say I'm gonna tell you. Yeah, there's there's two ways to go about weight loss. A lot of people they're like, I'm gonna lift real heavy and and just eat enough to get by and maybe still stay strong. And there's people that do uh, you know, low reps, uh, reps, high weight with then there's the guys that do like lengthened partials, and then there's like the guys that do deep eccentric, like really stretching the muscle, and then the full contraction. That's kind of what I was into because for me, I'm like, I'm not lifting heavy weights, I'm eating two thousand calories a day.
SPEAKER_02Well, you're pretty tall. Do you would you're six? Two, yeah.
SPEAKER_04Yeah. So I was like, I need to do something that I can I can do for a year or two while I lose this weight that's not gonna you know injure me or yeah, I mean that's yeah. And I and I think the new studies now kind of indicate that that style of working out doesn't necessarily uh lead to more muscle growth, but it it for me it worked in the sense that it helped me lose the weight.
SPEAKER_02You didn't know it was gonna work, you just was like, this is the most this is what I'm I want to do.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, and I'm not listening I'm not a I'm not a fitness coach. I'm not this is I'm not trying to sound like I know what I'm talking about by any means. But I, you know, you have to go through it and grow through it.
SPEAKER_02So well and that's why you clearly say it's fucking for ha it worked for you, you know what I'm saying? So hell yeah, bro. Yeah, exactly. Um yeah, shit. Um oh okay, okay, okay, okay. Um I just like that. I I I don't know if I started having too many questions or too not not enough. Um so you've seen uh you're you're you're pretty intentional, obviously. We've talked about that with your consistency about your content. Is there any like tricks or like a psychological trick that you've noticed creators use?
SPEAKER_04Uh you mean as far as like hooks or engagement? I'll give you I'll give you a key.
SPEAKER_02But the ones that you refuse to touch and then ones you like.
SPEAKER_04Ones that I refuse to touch is probably the click baitier stuff that doesn't really happen. I'm real off.
SPEAKER_02So you wouldn't, you probably see sitting like, I don't know, I'm not gonna do that.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, there's a lot of shit that goes down that I'm like, that's that's cornball material. But I there is something that that I've I've done on purpose.
SPEAKER_02That is cornball material, like it or not. It's just not no one's Mr. Cool here just fucking. If it's working, it's working. I wouldn't exactly I'm saying I wouldn't.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, I mean, hey, you know, but I I I will say this there are things that I've done intentionally and unintentionally, then learn from them later and went, oh, I'm gonna try that again. I tried again and it sticks. So one of the things that I do is like I do jokes, obviously my stitches. So I'll say a joke, and then I won't say the joke that I know everybody is thinking intentionally, they can go in my comments and and and feel like they had a part in the script. So now I have a whole comment thread of people that are like, I can help this guy write his joke.
SPEAKER_02No, that I feel kind of mean. I you know what, bro? I fucking feel your shit. I'm fucking watching it. I'm like, even like the way you uh record the stuff, the way you say stuff, it's just like it's almost like, man, how much time did he put into this? Well, that's just it. If you put too much in, it's not gonna be like that. If you don't put enough in, it's not gonna, so it's just like not thinking about it, not overthinking it, and you just fucking get it done, bro.
SPEAKER_04I think a lot of people assume that funny people aren't intelligent or they they don't think about things deeply enough, but you gotta remember, man, like you don't you don't get this far in three months without some type of intention, you know what I mean?
SPEAKER_02So well, I mean, so then that's the the time frame that we're on with your current growth is yeah, about three months.
SPEAKER_04From yeah, initially I I think it happened, bro. I'm telling you, bro, like I had that one video went from 500 followers to 1200. That was like a month and a half through December, and then once January 14th was the date hit that that fluffy ketchup stitch went from there, it's been three months, and I'm almost at 150k. Almost. So yeah, that's it's it's quick.
SPEAKER_02I mean, no, I mean, and it's like you you gotta be proud of that, you gotta love yourself over this. You can't just be like, nah, this is not for me. You can't talk yours because those voices are in your head. I mean, it's it's isn't it sabotage? It's a sabotage. I mean fucking A, bro.
SPEAKER_04I had the I had the momentum and I was like, I'm I had a nervous breakdown, and I'm like, I don't know if I can do this just because I was so scared of all of it because I knew once I knew I had it, I was like, I know I have what it takes now. This is scary as fuck because I get it, and and I know what comes with it, and I had to accept it or I had to run from it. I remember breaking down in my living room to my fiance about it. Like I was just upset, like I don't know if I can do this, and and I just said fuck it and went for it, and now we're here, you know what I mean?
SPEAKER_02Yeah, fucking hey, man. Hell yeah.
SPEAKER_05My man's got the organ ducks.
SPEAKER_02I'm kidding, I'm kidding, I'm kidding. Oh yeah. Let me see. Um, let me see where I can go next, man. So you know, you've definitely obviously got self-awareness, man. Is there like a moment you caught yourself doing like the fucking weight loss performatively versus for real?
SPEAKER_04Yeah, for sure. I think there was a lot of.
SPEAKER_02I mean, I I knew you'd answer that, honestly. That's a good thing.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, I think I think almost you kind of you kind of have to because you gotta sec yourself out, kinda right? You're on social media for attention, whether you want to admit it or not. So at some point you're gonna practice with performative behavior. You know, even if it's a uh a trial or if it's like a um, hold on, we got the video in there too. Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Sorry, brother. Even if it's like I don't want I don't want to get in the middle of your hands. But uh yeah, you're a husky, you're good, you're a husky.
SPEAKER_04It's definitely uh it's definitely something that you you either get it or you don't, and you're like, I'm gonna keep doing this and it's sticking, or you're like, I'm gonna be authentic and I'm gonna make that work. And for me, being authentic was way easier because I didn't have to try.
SPEAKER_02Okay, going back to like interacting with your fans and shit, you know what I'm saying? Like you're I'm gonna I say fans, I mean it's just what it is. Yeah, you know, people in the comment sections and stuff like that, like smartest hate comment you've ever gotten. Fuck like it was wrong, but it was well argued, but it was still like I don't know. Yeah, there it there's so many of them.
SPEAKER_04I don't know, man. I think the the only one people love you, so there's not many of those things. I don't see it a lot, man. I really don't. I I think there's only been one hate comment that sticks to me only because it was just the the only one, and it was just like you're you're so fat, I see why you make fun of people now. You're trying to get get back at all the people that made fun of you. And I was like, no, no, I made fun of people when I was fat too.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, see, fucking bam, that is fucking hilarious, dude. That that was some good shit right there. Have you ever done stand-up comedy? This is on the side question, just a side.
SPEAKER_04I don't I don't man, I I've It's not your jam. It's not my thing. I've been asked that so many times, but I it's just not it's not my intention, you know what I mean?
SPEAKER_02Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_04I I would if if I if the opportunity presented itself, but I'm not like a writing joke scout.
SPEAKER_02Okay.
SPEAKER_04Okay, yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_02Oh, yeah, big Tony. I saw Tony last week in Nick Jackson's Comedy Club. Shout out to Tony, man, real quick. Okay, man, okay, so here's the thing, this has to do with kind of well kind of with working out, but just also with like your content. Like the most fucking craziest unhinged thought you've had in a treadmill that later became content, or in the weight room, or when you were working out, or you know what I mean? You're like, wait a minute, I I gotta stop and write this down. Or do you write your thoughts down, or do you just keep them maintained, retained, or what?
SPEAKER_04I had an idea on a on a treadmill for a video and I recorded it's on my my page from when I was supposed to fit this content. It was just like a stupid slow-mo video or like an experience video that was there, and and then I I thought about it while I was running and I I went back to the gym and he was one of the trainers there, Jabril.
SPEAKER_02Fuck yeah, and he's like, Okay, Jabril, he's the dude over at my fitness quest. Yeah, exactly. Dude, I fucking live over there and I need to start going there, bro. I fell off the I ruptured my left Achilles and I just fell off the fucking bandwagon like 12 years ago. I'm talking about uh not even walking, not even doing shit.
SPEAKER_04Get out, Jabril, bro. He'll hook you up, man.
SPEAKER_02Fucking guy. Definitely, definitely. Um speaking about Tacoma, man, like fucking, is there like uh spots that you fucking like you just highly recommend? Like if you had an outer town or come, like some of your fans came to visit you. Where would you want to go treat someone that's never been to Tacoma? Like a you know, top couple restaurants, burgers, fucking steaks, whatever the fuck. Uh you know what? Favorite joints.
SPEAKER_04I would say I had a really good experience at Cornel Bravo. And I I uh I would go back there for sure. I would like to do a food review there if they would host it.
SPEAKER_02That place, dude, is amazing my hair, bro. I have not been there yet, dude.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, Cornel Bravo is a is a good is a good steakhouse if you're into that.
SPEAKER_02Well, tell me this. And I mean, I know I can look at the fucking menu, but I mean, is it it is expensive like that, though, right?
SPEAKER_04Yeah, I think I I went there for my birthday, was it last year? And I think we dropped like three bills. So your birthday is today.
SPEAKER_02My birthday is the 30th. My wife asked me where I want to go, and I might want to go. No, she said you want to go to Cornell Bravo, and you know what I said? I just I don't want to go with my I want to go with her there, but not with so this is like for my kids and us. Yep. We're gonna go to Stanley and fucking Seafords. Fuck it.
SPEAKER_03Stanley Seafords are solid, though. Yeah. I would say, I would say I've been there.
SPEAKER_02I've never been to the third mic over here for my guy, you know what I'm saying?
SPEAKER_04Yeah, the you know what's a good place, an honorable mention that just opened in Lakewood is a place called Bloom Tie. Man, that place is Bloom Tie? Bloom Tie. Just a real small experience, but it's Erica Taste Erica talks about that.
SPEAKER_02You know Erica Taste test?
SPEAKER_04I I think I've seen her. I've seen her around. Yeah, I've been linking up with these people, man. Like I do collabs with them and shit.
SPEAKER_02Well, I mean, like, so I'm I'm in that circle kind of, but I realize that I'm a fucking podcaster and I'm not a foodie, and food, food's always been well, and that's what I'm trying to do you know. We've again we talked about that too. You've got to do it all. You know, what I like to do is like bring Wing Wizard down to the post office studio. So now I got my guest here. I met him and I got yeah, Trey's wings. I'll bring Trey's, I'll have Trey bring like fucking 40 wings down, and we'll just sit there and podcast and talk about wings, you know? Like and then I started just you know saying, like, well, why don't we go out and do it more? And so it's just like about having a fucking method, having a method for the madness. You can't be sporadic and do this one day and fucking not catch up on it in two weeks. No, yeah, yeah, yeah. You're right.
SPEAKER_04You gotta you gotta busy up. You know what a a good key key piece of insight I wanted to tell you this earlier was busy yourself up, man. Like like force yourself to be so busy that you can't say no, and then and then you get you feel so guilty. Complacency kills you. Yeah, it's just it's but you know that that feeling like bro, I just turned down like six opportunities in a week. The rickster. I'm killing myself. Like you gotta you gotta busy yourself up to the point to where you can't you can't be complacent. And that's what it that was that's worked for me.
SPEAKER_02Anything else, birthday boy?
SPEAKER_04No, I'm good, man. I'm good.
SPEAKER_02Let's give this man a fucking boo, a bullet right.
SPEAKER_04I'm just done. Yeah, I don't I don't partake in the drinking anymore, man. That actually for me was a big part of my what's that? Uh yeah, that'd be great. Thanks, man. I I think that was a big part of my uh success rate too for my weight loss, was realizing that addiction was killing me too.
SPEAKER_02That was because I mean some people, bro, it's just not it's just not like that. It just doesn't do what it does to some other people. It's it's about their fucking what it does to your mentality too.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, you know, and there's there's just comfortability, like you just you you like you like the coping mechanism that you've created, and it's hard to get out of it, period.
SPEAKER_02Man, and then you know, and then you and they're also and I hate to bring in like the the fact of like you know past failures and stuff like that, you know what I'm saying? Oh, they made it. But then also, you know, when I you know I I recently, you know, had a fucking solid job and I got let go though, unfortunately. Yeah, um, but I mean I was out there fucking killing it, bro, right? Like selling sports cards like and sports memorabilia on like the whatnot app. Yep, yeah. I was a personality on like my own fucking show. My name was Coach. Yeah, it was wild. I had dudes fucking spending like 10 racks, like multiple people like fucking week nightly, you know what I'm saying? And uh, and then my my um my manager was like, bro, coach, you got fucking imposter syndrome? And I'm just sitting there going, like, damn, I said, What's that? I didn't know what the fuck that meant. I was like, let's just keep on going, let's just keep rocking. No, it's okay to celebrate, dude. It's okay to take a deep breath and say, Man, I did that. Yeah, you know what I'm saying? Like, fuck yeah. I built this up. I built, I'm like, let's go though, let's keep going. Because you know, it could end any day, you know.
SPEAKER_04It's hard, it's hard to celebrate now because there's so many more haters and congratulate. And like you, you'll do something and talk about it, and people are like, here he goes bragging again. It's like, god damn, who can I talk about this with? Because I'm just trying to have a good time and feed off that that buzz and keep the ball rolling. Everybody else is looking at you like he's always talking about himself.
SPEAKER_02Dude, I made like fucking nuts. So Sam, I was up there and killed like 90 racks, bro, and I was fucking on like the the whatnot was like they're looking into my Twitter because people were like, they would come on and watch me, were like, oh, this dude's coach has a podcast. Yeah, let's go dig. Yeah. Right? And I fucking was like arguing with my fucking good friend, like an 08 on Twitter. Yep. And I'm not a fucking homophobic motherfucker. I don't care, but you know, I don't have a problem with with gay people with anybody, you know what I'm saying? But I did say the word faggot, which is not fucking okay, not cool. I understand that, but I mean, I didn't use it in the context of you just had to read it to see it, to see that I wasn't calling him. But you know what I'm saying, bro? Most people can't even own it up.
SPEAKER_04As long as you own up to it and you you feel a way about it and address it.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, and I don't even know why I brought that up, seriously, because fuck going twice. That's my old previous employer, and I don't even want to be like that on fucking live and I'm all that's just great. Shout out to me though. Shout out to Sam to Sam for his fucking birthday. I need to get my sound banks popping, Sam. You know what I'm saying?
SPEAKER_04Well, next time I come on, we're gonna have to have like random here we go, uh, here we go pad and shit. I mean we'll have to do one of those.
SPEAKER_02There you go.
SPEAKER_05There we go. There we go. Hell yeah.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, there's a there's a lot more we can do. Um, yeah, everyone, I hope you guys are having having a good listen so far. I think this is a fucking awesome podcast. I appreciate how fucking open you are and shit.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, of course, man. I feel like that's my whole brand is just being authentic and open about everything because there's not enough of that.
SPEAKER_02Ooh. See, okay, now now we're going kind of into the future, kind of a way you're at right now, more. You know what I'm saying? Cause then we're not done, dun, done, for sure now. Um I'm trying to think of where I should go. Hold on, that that's not trust one. Yes, it is. It's called Addicted. That's a banger. Okay, hold on though. I don't even know why I did that, but shout out to Trust one. That shit was dope. Um all right, man. So this is gonna be like some like rapid fire fucking shit. You know what I'm saying? Like, not rapid fire, not fucking you know, checking your fucking house. You're obviously a fucking smart dude, and I can tell. You're very articulate, you fucking speak well, you know what I'm saying? Dexter Manly over here? Yes, I'm gonna do it. Watching the fucking Redskins back in the day. Alright, so food you miss, but not enough to actually eat.
SPEAKER_04Probably shit like like pizza. Like pizza's bomb, like it's good, but it's like I'm not eating that. I just know it's fucked for dieting.
SPEAKER_02Dog, I mean it is, dude. I'm I that's why I'm a skinny fucking fat guy over here.
SPEAKER_04Chicken wings, though, I'm a crack addict. I can't go without it.
SPEAKER_02For saying, well, for what?
SPEAKER_04I'm gonna I'm gonna go back to chicken wings every time. Chicken wings and ranch, crack wings.
SPEAKER_02Chicken wings, chicken wings, tad ducking balancer, chicken mechanic. And non-breaded wings, bro.
SPEAKER_04Non-breaded smoked wings?
SPEAKER_02Ooh, opal lounge? Fucking goddamn. Fuck off. I'm there. Uh best comeback to a kind of like a quote, like uh, you just got skinny for clout type shit.
SPEAKER_04Oh shit, man. Best comeback. Probably you can't do this on accident, you know. There has to be. Nobody loses 140 pounds in one year without intention.
SPEAKER_02Of all the things you could have said, that's the best fucking response right there. Impossible to do it. That's the best response to give. Cheers to you for that one.
SPEAKER_04Because even if you did it without intention, by the end of it, you'd be like, yeah, that I realized that there was intention.
SPEAKER_02No, of course. Of course, of course. Okay. Um, let me fucking see. I got a couple more of these here. Oh, God. I mean, I And when I asked this one, it wasn't even like a fun. This is more like just men, I got because I got big homies, bro, that are that have gotten down. You know, I have one specific homie that is that's a really close friend that was up like you in the weight and got down, and now he knows how to what the fuck to do. Yep. And it's fucking, he's just like, I can conquer the fucking world now. 100%. Um, so again, I love you. Fans out there listening, just it's a fucking question. If your stretch marks could talk, what's their catchphrase? Oh shit. I fucking love you, dog. You can form tackle me outside in the alley after this.
SPEAKER_04What's their catchphrase? A catchphrase? I don't know about a catchphrase, but probably something like how's it hanging?
SPEAKER_02How's it hanging? Motherfucker. Um I mean, there's okay, so like uh ooh. So diet cultures is has been a not a trending thing, but I mean it's it's gotten a little more serious the last, you know, since social media and stuff and a lot and influencers and the rise of all that shit. But but but um is there a phrase from diet culture that you'd ban from the internet if you could?
SPEAKER_04A phrase from diet culture? I don't know about I don't know if there's a phrase that would ban you know, I would just say just ban like fad dieting because you have to the best diet. That's unhealthy as fuck and shock your body and all that. Exactly. You're exactly right. I think the best diet is the one that works for you. So whatever you're making progress with.
SPEAKER_02Dude, are do you ever have aspirations to be a life coach?
SPEAKER_04I've I've yeah, man, I I thought about everything. I I've thought about being a nutritionist, a trainer, a coach, that offers opportunities, but it's just I have to find my I had to find my purpose, and now that I I am understanding that more and more, I think that I'm trying to just not get distracted, you know what I mean?
SPEAKER_02I'm pissed I didn't go to fucking Red Hot with you.
SPEAKER_04Bro, we gotta go. Well, we're gonna do something else. It don't matter.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, and you know, and I ate fucking uh I uh I definitely um I ate the coney dog. I go there a lot, I eat the Coney Dog every fucking time. I've had the burger, of course, I've had the trace on my face.
SPEAKER_04Hey, that that that uh onion dip dog, whatever that was. That shit was stupid.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, they're just they just do it well. They're they're consistent.
SPEAKER_04I love places that just do like they do one thing and they do that one thing really fucking well, and then they have iterations of that one thing really well. You know, it's to me I've always loved that. No, it I always like it's like the deli, it's like magical sandwich makers. They just do sandwiches so good.
SPEAKER_02And no, and you might not have an answer for this. I mean, or me, I mean you you're gonna have an answer for it, but this might not have happened to you necessarily. Um because you know, on the on your fucking journey, you gotta again keep it light so you can just fucking stay kind of happy and motivated and keep on rocking. Yep. Uh what's a joke you made about your own journey that you later realized was actually a coping mechanism instead of a fucking joke?
SPEAKER_04Well, the one that sticks out is when I was working out at Fitness Quest, I won the biggest loser challenge there. You said that twice. Yeah, back to back. And was that so anyways wouldn't matter in the last eight months? My joke was like, uh my joke was like, uh, joke's on them because I'm already the biggest loser.
SPEAKER_02But other than that, that's just a way for you to keep on smiling because damn, it's like it's almost like you might have um a little bit of the imposter syndrome as well. 100%. And that's only for like super successful motherfuckers to even deal with.
SPEAKER_04Well, you don't even get that until you have some type of emotion where you feel guilty about it or weird about it, or you know, like, is this me? It's it's it's something that you have to cope with.
SPEAKER_02Like, do I deserve this? Am I worthy enough for this? Unless you are.
SPEAKER_04I'm a cope artist, man. Like, I coped my whole life with everything, and now that I I realize all that shit doesn't matter, it's kind of like I mean, how'd you cope with your brother's death?
SPEAKER_02I mean, I hate to go back to a dark. No, that's how I did it.
SPEAKER_04I I was I was just drinking heavily and fucking off, depressed, and you know, like it didn't matter. What what I was doing in life didn't really matter to me. I didn't have direction. And that luckily I have the mentality to snap back and just kind of I've always had that willpower, strong willpower. So I I I was like, I got to a point where I was depressed. I was drinking, I was using drugs from time to time, I wasn't happy. Yeah, I mean I'm about to lose my relationship and my house, and I'm like, I gotta do something, I gotta make sure that's it.
SPEAKER_02Okay, so and you've been with your wife currently, your wife and you're married, right?
SPEAKER_04Uh we just got engaged. Oh, that's right, dude. Congratulations, by the way. Hell yeah. Yep, yeah. We just got engaged and uh Oh god.
SPEAKER_01Who's in your top five, bruh? But yeah, we uh Jesus Christ, Darnell. That was great. Hold on now.
SPEAKER_05Who's in your top five, bro?
SPEAKER_02We had a podcast called Smoke It or Not as well. So all the other ones on the other board are like fucking Yup.
SPEAKER_01Bruh, who's in your top five, bruh? It's time to take a smoke break. Smoke it or not, sponsored by recycled roach weed. Oh shit.
SPEAKER_02Oh, that's all right. Yeah, I don't know what we're doing that.
SPEAKER_04But uh no, yeah, just coping with it was hard for me because I I had to I had to make a realization to wake up, like I gotta do something with my life. I think that's where the weight loss came into play. I was like, I gotta do something big, you know, and that's that's where the weight loss was like. I'll lose the weight, and then in the process of losing the weight, I'll show the world like, look, no matter how down and out you are, you can always come back. And now it's just kind of snowballed into this, whatever the fuck this is.
SPEAKER_02You know, man, it's like people people always say, man, men and you know, mental health, and you know, we're not checking up on each other. It is a real thing, and then until you fucking see another friend fucking say fuck it, and you know, can't handle it, and they're just like, Man, what could you have done? It's like, man, what you can do is just fucking be present every day and support every day, you know. 100%, yeah. Like every time you see somebody, just fucking say hi to them, be be cool. You know what I mean? Like, yeah, 100%. Try and just have that fucking positive fucking disposition, that positive outlook. Um man, how how far are we in here, sports fans? I mean, of course, you know what we got. We are 51 minutes in here.
SPEAKER_04Oh, that's not bad. Hey, this is the first podcast I've ever done I've ever done in my life. So to talk for an hour with somebody is that's funny. That's like that's pretty good for me.
SPEAKER_02I see I knew me and you were, I mean, this is part one. This is gonna be part one. We can go for like, you know, I got a little some closing, closing shit, and then we do the day shout out.
SPEAKER_04I gotta go to dinner with my family.
SPEAKER_02What's your fucking birthday, dude? And so again, this will when I drop it, it'll be like, you know, the Sam too personal part one, or we'll think of a title, but it'll be part one.
SPEAKER_04I need to go, I'm about to go to uh Korean barbecue, I think.
SPEAKER_02So on South Hack Way, or we're no.
SPEAKER_04I don't know where I'm gonna go yet. I don't know where I'm gonna go yet. I mean, maybe uh when this comes out, people can drop the best place in the comments.
SPEAKER_02So how fast you want me to drop this? Because I can drop it, dude, like in the fucking tomorrow.
SPEAKER_04You take the amount of time you need, we're not in a rush at all. Or the next or a couple days at least. Yeah, we'll do it right. We'll do it right for sure.
SPEAKER_02Um okay, so and not to keep this about the fucking weight loss thing, but that was like a huge thing, you know what I'm saying? But I mean like I think you're fucking like like just, you know, you're fucking you're you're you're witty, bro. You know what I'm saying? You're witty, you're fucking funny, you like you seem to know what people fucking want. Yeah. You know what I'm saying? Like and then you're and you're doing your thing. Um, so what's something like fucking like super fucking small, right? That changed your life more than any something seriously, okay? Like something fucking small that changed your life more than any fucking meal plan or anything that like that did.
SPEAKER_04I mean, surprisingly, probably just my practicing my faith in God because I was never religious. I had no intention to to follow God at all. And now that I've I'm I'm you know, I always feel like I need to get back to it too, because it's a home base now. But like that, that has been like the biggest signal moment in my life more than anything, bro, is just like trying to find and I get made fun of for it because they're like, Really? You like you, you know. Yeah, it's like you know what?
SPEAKER_02Yeah, bro, me too. People think that Jesus is corny and being Christian and being good and be having a good attitude and being happy, that people think that's corny, you know, and you know what it is. It's if you really tap in and you really know, you know, good and evil and the God and the devil and all that, you see, you know exactly what that is.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, yeah, and I and I I want to I want to spot, you know what I mean? And I think that I don't I I don't want to be somebody that they look back on as like he was just kind of blinded by everything and he didn't have any intention, or you know, that that is something that religion, you know, or just God in general, following God in general helped me with. So I'm not even necessarily really affiliated with any one religion. I I think I'm still finding out and learning. But yeah, the following the faith, you know, is is something that I'm I'm I'm learning more about and I'm super interested in.
SPEAKER_02I mean, you know, when they had the mosque up there on 19th, you know, my my buddy Haroon, now living in Indonesia now for the last like 28 some years, you know what I mean. He's been Muslim now for a while. He got fucking had to go to military prison because he was, you know, had some he wasn't gonna go fight in Jordan, hurt his people around. He was a general and shit, bro. He fucking got out. He had to do some time in military prison and he fucking but he's an awesome fucking dude. He took me to the mosque though, I was wearing the the whole all the you know Arab garments, bro. Like and then like uh yes I mean I'm the same way. It's like I definitely he found he found some some faith. He found his faith, and it's like that's what he's just like, man, as long as you're I mean so the hardest thing about me with like Christianity, bro, and I don't mean to get all serious right now, but it's like how are you gonna tell me that those guys aren't going to heaven or they're not gonna have you know what I mean? Because they're they're praying five times a day, they're fucking, you know what I'm saying, they're doing all this or doing that. It's like, you know what I mean?
SPEAKER_04Like it's just gotta be space for everybody if you know they're all trying to get out of here.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, what kind of god's gonna say, you know, you're not gonna make it you pray five times a day, you've had you let a you've never, you know what I mean? Come on, bro. But the one thing you didn't do is accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, I'm not the one to even really ask either, because I'm still like you said, you're still right, okay. But yeah, I I I would love to just sit sit in and listen to two different religions talk about that specific topic just to hear how they, you know, they they converse back and forth with it because it's so interesting to me. Because you're right, like it's it's two completely different aspects, but they both believe the same thing. So that that is a that is a the one that I battle with too. I'm like, well, you know, this religion is it seems to resonate with me, but uh there's some things that I'm kind of a little on the fence about. So that's just something I need to go back and study or I need to you know talk to somebody else about because I don't know enough. Is your wife a fair is she a Christian at all? Is she religious at all? I think she grew up, if I'm not mistaken, in the Christian church or you know, going to church, but not she she's not practicing. She knows she's not like we're just kind of both getting back into it. And that that was mainly for our son. We want to make sure there's a good basis. I think a church community is good for a kid to grow up in.
SPEAKER_02Well, my wife's Filipino. She grew up Catholic. Yeah. So our kids are Catholic when I had I had my fucking buddy. We had to go do do the whole Catholic thing. Like he's my uh my kid dumb my kid's uh godfather and shit. Yeah, bro. I think that was kind of bullshit because I'm not right. I'm not against that, but I'm not like that. So why I shouldn't have no business in the Catholic Church doing that, and like, you know, he's like, man, so you're right, you know, and I so it's just kind of if you're not if you're gonna be halfwin like that, it's like come on, just don't don't fake the funk on a nasty fucking dunk, you know? Yeah, 100%. Um man, um whether you eat them now or not, favorite, what was your favorite fucking burger in Tacoma? Or if you had a to go back to those days. Tacoma Federweg, I mean whatever fucking South sound.
SPEAKER_04Favorite burger.
SPEAKER_02I know you random like it or not bullshit question, you know.
SPEAKER_04You know what? I think at one time there I need to I don't want to give it the wrong name because there's this burger spot up in uh it's up in like Browns Point in Federal Way. And I think it's called I think it's called Flame Burger, but I'm not sure.
SPEAKER_02Oh, okay, right there on 320th.
SPEAKER_04You know where you know what what's that bar up in in Browns Point up uh it's up.
SPEAKER_02The Browns Point Diner?
SPEAKER_04No, I don't think it's it's like a spare. Their breakfast is fucking good though. Anyways, there's a burger spot right across here.
SPEAKER_02No, is it is it on the flat or is it up up the hill? No, it's up the hill.
SPEAKER_04Like we get to the top of the hill.
SPEAKER_02Cliffhouse? No, that's a restaurant.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, but the burger spots like Kitty Corner right next to a gas station. That that that spot had the best burgers ever, and their their shit was always so fat.
SPEAKER_02So that was back in the day, though, probably.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, I'll have to find it. I'll have to find it, and then I'll drop it in the comments when this comes out because that's playing notable. It's bomb.
SPEAKER_02Okay, okay. Are you a Pit quick guy? You frisk go freeze it all? Are you like, oh fuck the hype? That's just a good one. You know me, bro.
SPEAKER_04I'm not a fast food guy. I don't know. I just want rice. I don't do it. I'll take a bite of something.
SPEAKER_02I mean, you have to be disciplined like that if you want to fucking keep your shit, right?
SPEAKER_04I'm not a hater. Food, good food is good food, but like when I went to the Red Hot, their their shit was on point for me. I loved it. But I only took like a bite of everything because I see man, I love it.
SPEAKER_02I fucking love it. I need to fucking know you're just gonna be a good one. And that's not because I didn't think it was good.
SPEAKER_04It was just I fresh he ate it all. If I ate everything that I reviewed, I'd just be back fat again.
SPEAKER_02You'd be back, you'd be like fucking me, dude. It's god, I might we no, I'm not gonna do that to myself. But bro, you motivate me to want to like me, because it's like it's like fuck at some point in your life, Andy, you gotta get back on your shit. You can't just lose yourself.
SPEAKER_04No, you can, man. And I think uh the one key piece of advice that I got was like you'll be able to do it as soon as you stop telling yourself you can't. That's that's simple as that.
SPEAKER_02I mean, the drinking too, you know what I mean? It's not like you're my therapist right now, but it's like, you know what? I know. Okay, I know that drinking's taking a fucking toll. Kind of. I don't drink every fucking day. I don't got a bottle at home or nothing like that. I got eight beers at home, I haven't touched one. I don't know, it's not like that. It's like when I do. Yeah. It's just like, you know what I mean. We just had that needle, there's no off button, bro. You're up till 4 a.m.
SPEAKER_04I mean, I I had to weigh my options. Like, look at your life, look at drinking, look at substance. What is it doing versus what if it wasn't there, what would it do? And then, you know, significantly outweighed. So I'm like, I gotta I gotta cut this shit out.
SPEAKER_02Well, then you gotta you just got a fucking a newborn kid, a newborn son, right?
SPEAKER_04That was the biggest thing. I wanted to experience his first year of life clear, just you know, clear-minded.
SPEAKER_02Shout out to you, man, and shout out to you and your wife, man. Hey, for the baby won the engagement and all that too, man. Fuck yeah, dude.
SPEAKER_04A lot of crazy shit's happened in the past year, like year and a half for me. My my life for the past two years has been, I I've been thinking about writing a book, actually. I'm kind of in the works of it. But yeah, and that's probably crazy to hear for some people that know me, but yeah, it's it's insane.
SPEAKER_02Well, I mean, dude, I mean, not many people again, like I said, and anybody can do it if they fucking want to. 100% is you've actually done it, bro. You've lived through it, you've lived from being three plus, yeah, bro, down to where you're where you're at now, and you're it's it's getting better and fucking better. You know? Yep. Your mentality's getting better, and you're not gonna like I mean so how would you deal with a setback though? Like, what would you know what I mean?
SPEAKER_04Like, uh, you know, I think it depends if it was self-inflicted or if it was, you know, out of my control. But totally. The self-inflicted I can control to some degree, but like the the shit that I can't control, like a death in the family or you know, a na a disaster of some sort. I for that for me I have to look at the reasons why I started and then you know keep playing on that because that seemed to have worked so well for me this time, this go around. So yeah, I think I would just I would just try to hone back in on why I started in the first place and then keep practicing that discipline.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. Okay, man. We're we've been we're an hour in. Um let's give some fucking shout outs to people that we love or people that we fucking hate, people that we businesses, people, whatever you want to do. And then also, man, I want you to send a message out there to every anyone listening, man, like this, like just going through some shit right now, going through a tough time. You know what I'm saying? Let's like fucking speak to them right now.
SPEAKER_04Shit, man. If you're going through a tough time, you need to just look at yourself in the mirror and just tell yourself, I believe things will get better, because I promise you they will. Believe in yourself, put yourself first, make sure you're doing everything in your power to make sure your life is going the way you want it to. Manifest that shit. Don't just talk about it, do it, be about it. Be consistent, be disciplined, and I promise you things will get better. It always gets better.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, you can't give up, though. You gotta keep on fucking rocking, right? That's right, bro. And like that, but the main thing I took from that, and uh, I always tell my little young players playing AAU is man, you gotta fucking believe in yourself. It's the stupidest thing to hear. It's like, what do you mean? I fucking course I believe in myself. No, I'm talking about do you really believe in yourself? They hear it, but they don't believe it. You can go do this. Do you really like I think you can?
SPEAKER_04Yeah, yeah, you can do whatever you want. You really can. It's just a it's just a matter of of continuing to do it. That's all it is.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, man. Well, shit, with that, guys. This is again, this is just a part one, guys. This is fucking intro to you know meeting fucking Sam and and you know, seeing hearing him physically talk about his his journey and and you know where it has taken him and where it's about to take him.
SPEAKER_04But I mean also if you guys haven't got yet, I do have merch out. Go to look.com. It's not look too obvious, but yeah, fuck yeah. You know, the links in my bio. They're on Instagram under LookOvious. And they're local. Tacoma, right? Yeah, yeah. I I actually grew up with the owner and uh you know to some degree went to high school. Shout out my boy Ryan, LookOvvious. Make sure you guys go pop in on his page, show him some love. And then also my merch from Look Obvious is in my bio. There, you can find it through his page, his website. If you guys haven't got it yet, we're looking to do a summer drop too. I got a new logo that I'm kind of dropping here and there for you guys to see. So hopefully we'll have some summer clothes and then yeah, we're just gonna keep snowballing men and just keep pushing. Yeah, you got hoodies, you got shirts, you got multiple colors, bro.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, who did the graphic? Look obvious. Uh yeah, we did together, yeah. Yeah, fuck yeah.
SPEAKER_04Okay, yep. And then we're gonna, yeah, we'll probably just we'll probably keep you know it relatively simple for now until we build and and grow more and shit. Eventually, yeah, man, it's it's it's all looking up. So yeah, shout out hey, shout out to uh look obvious, shout out to Ryan. Yep, yeah, hell yeah. Babe, shout out you, shout out Kalo, shout out my dad, my mom, the whole family, love you guys. Yeah, man, it's been real.
SPEAKER_02This has been awesome, yeah. Man, we're gonna end it off with some trust one. I want to shout out Umi down there at ETC, the other guy who used to be my fucking co-host on Like It or Not back in 2016, right? I need to meet him anyway. Oh, just he's a great dude, bro. He's been dropping a lot of fucking uh fire on Umi's corner. So like personal shirts that are, you know, ETC related, but not ETC. They're like, you have to buy them on his website, you know. I love ETC relationships so far. Yeah, they're just solid dudes, man. They got good fucking uh, you know, good aesthetic. They're just some solid kids in the community, bro. You know, they're super underrated. 11 fucking years this summer. You know, who does that with a streetwear clothing brand?
SPEAKER_04If I could get a collab with them going somehow, it's some some major collab like that would be fucking.
SPEAKER_02Or even, you know, like we said, you know, starting to do like the fucking doing something in this in the store and shit. You know what I'm saying?
SPEAKER_04Like, yeah, exactly. Maybe at the end of the year we do the last podcast there, the the year round.
SPEAKER_02It's gonna be a hot summer though, too. I mean, we'll have to see plus you know, that downtown area, bro. Neon, Dion's got an art gallery. There's like there's things, bro. There's places we can go, things we can do.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, I think uh doing your doing your podcast down by the water or something one day would be sick too with a good backdrop. That'd be good.
SPEAKER_02Dude, we can go down there and fucking. I know you don't, I'm probably not a big sandwich dude, right? But like fucking sliced sliced to coma uh Kyle Campisi from Subtle Approach Catering. Uh-huh. Those fucking sandwiches, dude, down there, they are doing something remarkable down there. I'm sorry. I use the word remarkable. That's fucking hilarious, you know? Because they're their sandwiches, it's like, it's it's insane. It's like, you know, I've never been to New York. It's a chopped unk word. Yeah. Exactly. We need a picture. Hell yeah, Rick. We need some pictures, man. God damn it. Uh well, guys, I'm gonna play some trust one here. Again, I want to shout out Umi. I want to shout out all my listeners out there, all Sam's followers and listeners, uh, everyone, you know, all the the family, uh, Scotty and Callie, you know what I'm saying? My older brother Chris and Katie and the whole family up there, my nephews, my dad, my mom, everybody. Uh that dude in the fucking with the uh you know, I'm not gonna say nothing about that guy driving his truck down the fucking street. Uh shout out to Pizza Time Puff for having us over here, man.
