Just one Olympic Gold is a dream for many athletes but our today's guest is a 4 times Olympic Medalist of which 3 are Gold Medals out of which he won two Gold in a single Olympics. Our today’s' guest on The Homestretch w/Adrian Durant, needs no introduction, he is one of the most decorated male US sprinter, 4 times Olympic Medalist, 6 times World Champion, none other than, Lashawn Merritt.
Lashawn is the perfect paradigm of dedication, hard work and hustle. He has worked his way up the scale of championships in the 400: ’04 World Junior titlist, ’05 Worlds 4×4 heat runner, ’07 Worlds 400 silver and relay gold, then the Olympic titles in both events in 2008 Beijing Olympics. He wasn't looking like stopping there at all. He went on to become 5 times World Champion after that and claimed two more Olympic titles in 2016 Rio Olympics.
In this latest interview with Lashawn Merritt, we are going to talk about his life story from the start. How he started in track while growing up and started winning championships right from the very young age. We discus his time at East Carolina University and his journey to become 4 times Olympic Medalist.
Unfortunate for any athlete, Lashawn's career is also having a setback due to injury. In the last few years, he has raced in professional events just seven times and he skipped entire Diamond League seasons and did not enter national championships. Merritt was going through the toughest injury spell of his career at that time. And we haven't seen much of him as well in those years.
