Did you know, on farms in 18th century Norfolk during the festive season the best cider was served only as long as the Yule log burnt. These Yule Festivities are the influence of the Vikings in Norfolk.

So, Master and servant alike would drink from the good cider stock. As soon as the Yule log stopped burning it was back to the bad cider for the servants. It’s easy to see why in some cases the Yule log was the full length of the tree trunk!
