Derek and Kristen make a wish to have time to record an episode on Obsession together
I'm getting ready to watch a video. Just a scary movie.
SPEAKER_01Like scary movies. What's your favorite scary movie?
SPEAKER_00Uh-huh.
SPEAKER_01You have to have a favourite board comes to mind. Hello, and welcome to the Silver Screens podcast. My name is Charles. You could make it as expecting you. Right to the dungeon. Please watch us dead. You'll be doing the telephone trail for tonight. Make yourselves comfortable. Right over there. And they'll be with you shortly. And one last thing.
SPEAKER_03How you guys doing? Welcome to another episode of the Silver Screams Podcast. A podcast for three horror movie buffs, watch scary movies, and then talk about them. I'm your host, Derek Schneider, and I am pleased, as always, to be joined by my wonderful co-host, Kristen Marlowe. What it is. What's up, Kristen?
SPEAKER_06Not a lot, man. Just chillin'.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, just chillin'. How you doing? How you been?
SPEAKER_06Could been busy, you know, life.
SPEAKER_03We both, uh, like independently independently of the podcast, went out and saw this uh this new movie that everybody seems to be obsessed with.
SPEAKER_06Yeah.
SPEAKER_03Uh over the weekend. Uh yeah, and it's strangely enough called Obsession. Yeah, this was one that uh I I remember seeing the teaser trailer months and months and months ago uh of our main character just sitting in the car talking on the phone about undoing a wish. Um and that was like the original teaser trailer, nothing else after that. And uh so it had been on my radar for a while. And yeah, we hadn't talked about doing this episode. I was just like, I need to go see this movie. I had seen stuff online, uh, people posting about how the hype is real, kind of kind of shit about about about the movie. And I'm always so wary whenever I see shit like that because I didn't see shit. It's just well, you're not as chronically online as I am. Like probably. Uh no, I'm not. Uh I I'm always wary when I see stuff like that. I'm like, this is probably just like viral marketing and everything like that. But uh, I was intrigued by the the premise of this movie and also like the director's previous works. I'd seen some of his uh shorts on YouTube.
SPEAKER_05Yeah.
SPEAKER_03Uh and so I was like, let's let's see what he does with you know a big m a big movie.
SPEAKER_06So for sure.
SPEAKER_03I went out and I saw it, and here we are to talk about it.
SPEAKER_06Yay.
SPEAKER_03You and you and Luke went to see it. Was this kind of like on a on a whim kind of thing?
SPEAKER_06Or yeah, so uh we went and saw it on our anniversary, our 17th anniversary, weirdly. 17th anniversary. Um, thank you. Uh we had tickets to go to the Rainers, and then it was like raining, and the game didn't get rained out, but we were just like, we don't want to go sit in. We don't want to go sit back. This is fucking terrible. Um, so we went out to dinner and we were watching like the Mariners game, but then that got kind of like boring. I was like, we can't just do this. And then he was like, What what movies could we go see right now? And the only movie that the timing like worked for us to go was this movie at the Grand. Oh, okay. And so I was like, okay, let's go.
SPEAKER_03I bet seeing it at the Grand was like really cool.
SPEAKER_06It was cool. It was fun. Um, it was definitely one of those theater experiences where the audience like definitely is like a little over the top, which was very which was very fun.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. Uh yeah, this one I I went to an AMC theater for this one, uh, the Lakewood Town Center one. And yeah, my screening was pretty full. I showed up there just to buy a ticket at the door kind of thing. Yeah. Um, because I had I through digging through boxes and everything, I found a bunch of AMC like yellow passes. Oh yeah. Um so and I guess I can use them online. Like the guy told me that I could use them online. I thought I I thought I had to show up to like get them in person. So I showed up there and there were only like aside from like the very, very front row, there were only like two seats left, like in the middle of the theater, just like individual seats. So I snagged one of those. Fair enough. Sat in a full theater, and yeah, it was my theater was definitely into it.
SPEAKER_06For sure.
SPEAKER_03So, as we always do, without giving away too much, did you did you enjoy this one?
SPEAKER_06Uh I didn't hate it. Okay. I never know how to answer that question. Uh I did I don't know that enjoy is the word, but I didn't I was not like mad about how I spent my time.
SPEAKER_03Okay. Yeah. That's that's a that's a good answer.
SPEAKER_06Did you enjoy it?
SPEAKER_03I did. Great. Yeah.
SPEAKER_06I love when somebody can just answer that question.
SPEAKER_03Yes. Uh yeah, so uh I I kind of want to get into this because I had like watching it and experiencing it and everything and leaving the theater, there's just so much that like was going through my head. So uh I definitely want to get started talking about this. Uh, but before we do that, we should let you all know that uh the creepy person standing on their front porch uh right after you make a wish about them loving you for whatever reason uh isn't the scariest thing that you're gonna encounter here. No, that would be the spoilers up ahead. So if you have not seen Obsession, get out and go see it and then come back and listen to this episode. And uh when we come back, we're gonna have Dee's Deets. So don't go away, Scream Team. We will be right back.
SPEAKER_05And we're back. So back.
SPEAKER_03All right. Uh it's time for the on again, off again segment. D's deets. Dee dee dee did all right. So we have this week for you uh we have the film Obsession, rated R, released in uh it says 2025 here, but 2026 is when it got its actual like theatrical release. Yeah uh did make its festival premieres in 2025, uh, which is where it got bought up by Focus Features, I believe. I think that's right. Is who bought it up? Uh directed by Curry Barker. Uh it has a runtime of one hour and forty-eight minutes. Just a little over that that that max bubble that he loves so much. Max bubble, yeah. Just a little bit over that.
SPEAKER_04But I He's like, Yeah, you guys could have cut some shit. Just making a nice little nice little time for me.
SPEAKER_03That's me. The IMDB synopsis says after breaking the mysterious one wish willow to win his crush's heart, a hopeless romantic finds himself getting exactly what he asked for, but soon discovers that some desires come at a dark, sinister price. Which I think is a fairly accurate description.
SPEAKER_06I think so too. Yeah.
SPEAKER_03Uh IMDB rating is eight point two out of ten, starring Michael Johnston as Baron Bear Bailey, Indy Navarette as Nikki Freeman, Cooper Tomlinson as Ian, and Megan Lawless as Sarah, and also Andy Richter, who plays Carter.
SPEAKER_05There you go.
SPEAKER_03Who's the dad manager of the the music store that they all work at? Yeah. Uh I know you hate to do the budget thing. What do you what what was your dude?
SPEAKER_06I'm always so off. Uh I don't know. This does not feel like a big production movie. Maybe uh I don't know, like a million dollars.
SPEAKER_03I think I want to say that it was around that. I the IMDB doesn't have an exact number, but I've been listening to some uh some other podcasts that have talked about it and everything, and I want to say that at least it was bought up for around that price. And I think that like figures into budget and everything. So and then what's my prize?
SPEAKER_06A one wish willow?
SPEAKER_03Yeah, one wish willow. Uh and uh the opening weekend, uh US and Canada, $17,196,000. So great, great fucking return on this one.
SPEAKER_06That's a very good turnaround.
SPEAKER_03Oh, okay. So uh actually fun in the in the trivia section. Uh it was shot for under a million dollars and picked up by Focus Features for distribution for 15 million plus after a bidding war.
SPEAKER_05Oh wow.
SPEAKER_03Several other distributors wanted it, including A24 and Neon.
SPEAKER_06There you go.
SPEAKER_03Uh the music store scenes were shot in the same music store as Wayne's World.
SPEAKER_06I love that.
SPEAKER_03This one uh this one was one that I picked out because it's definitely something that we will talk about for sure in our talk about the movie. Uh is on the very first day of shooting, Indy Navarette performed the scene where Nikki freaks out after a kiss, and the first take she delivered is the one that appeared in the finished film.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, sometimes you just do it right.
SPEAKER_03One take, man. That's all you need.
SPEAKER_06That's all you need. When you feel it, you feel it.
SPEAKER_03Mm-hmm. Uh and then another one that uh this is gonna be one that I'm going to be like seeking out this this stuff, but the festival cut of the feet of the film featured uh even more graphic violence that was cut and censored for the R-rated release. Uh I don't think more people died, but I heard that uh it was the the car scene with Sarah was more wasn't like extended and more graphic.
SPEAKER_06How could it get more graphic than it already was?
SPEAKER_03I don't know what to do. What more do you need though? I want to know though.
SPEAKER_06I wanna think But what more do you want like need?
SPEAKER_03I yeah, I just we saw it.
SPEAKER_06Like we very much saw it.
SPEAKER_03Oh yeah. Like it it was very What more could you give? I don't know. I'm I that's the curious that's the morbidly curious part of me that wants to know like what was I'm sure there was other stuff too, but like that was that was one of the ones that was like talked about the most.
SPEAKER_06That's so weird. I cannot imagine that being more it was like exactly what it was supposed to be. We saw everything.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. And and that's D's deets. D did it. Yeah. Alright, Kristen. Time to talk about obsession. Firstly, uh a thing that I I l start off with like a fun little like warm-up exercise. If you had a one-wish willow, what would your wish be?
SPEAKER_06You know, uh uh what is that character's name, the the douchey dude. Oh, Ian. Ian. He's like Chad in my brain.
SPEAKER_03Is that his character name or is that his real name? I think it's his character name. We all know.
SPEAKER_06Yes, we all know who I'm talking about. It's Chad. Ian. Um I feel like I would I would I don't think he did it because he's smart, but what when he wished for a billion dollars, I just think that like wishes can get strange if you're not particular with them. And so instead of being like super particular, I think I would just maybe wish for something that was like a certainty. You know what I mean? Does that make sense? Like a billion dollars is like, okay, cool. I mean, even then I would probably give it like a little more thought and be like, can I have a billion dollars? I wish for a billion dollars in my bank account that no one will ever ask me questions about how it got there. Cause then it's like if it rained down a billion dollars like it did in the movie, then how do you how do you where do you store all that?
SPEAKER_05Yeah.
SPEAKER_06How do you give it to the bank? The bank's gonna be like, Where'd you get this money? You know what I mean? Like it's just a problem.
SPEAKER_05Yeah.
SPEAKER_06You've just created a very heavy problem. That was a lot of money. Um, yeah, I don't know. I don't know. It's like you want to wish for like cool stuff, right? Like I wish my son could live for a long time and be happy, but then it's like, what if he had to live till he was like 126 and he was just like a good person, so he was happy, but his life sucked?
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_06You know what I mean? Like these are I don't like that.
SPEAKER_03Or if like if something happened to you like in life where like maybe your quality of life isn't as isn't as good or something, like just yeah, wishes are tricky, man. Like if your legs got like bitten off in like a surfing accident by a shark or something, and then you're like, well now I have to live a long life without my legs. Not that you can't live a good life without your legs, but but that would suck. Yeah.
SPEAKER_06That would suck. Uh anyways, yeah, I don't naturally the same way that I answer all your questions, I don't know how to answer that question. Uh, because my brain does not work like a normal person's. What would you wish for?
SPEAKER_03I think I would wish for I would honestly like probably wish for the podcast to be successful just so we can do this all the time.
SPEAKER_06That'd be so good.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_06But then that could be, you know, that could have that could have its own like things. It could be so successful that like we have stalkers.
SPEAKER_03Um there's no Mo fame, Mo Problems is the song famously said.
SPEAKER_06It's just you never know. Yeah, it's wishes are so weird. Like that.
SPEAKER_03Like that sort of and we don't we really only see in this movie two wishes get granted. Yeah. We see we see Bear's wish get granted that Nikki loves him more than anyone else on earth, is I believe how his wish was worded.
SPEAKER_06Yeah.
SPEAKER_03And then we see Ian's wish is more than anyone else in the whole fucking world.
SPEAKER_06Is that what he says?
SPEAKER_03I think so, yeah. Uh, and then we see Ian's wish of a billion dollars. Yeah. Now Ian's wish, when it happens, like like you said, creates a problem because you have all this cash. What do you do? Like, how do you handle this well?
SPEAKER_06Yeah, because it literally just like starts pouring down from the ceiling. Rolls of money. Yeah.
SPEAKER_03Uh so see, I was thinking that about that, and it's like, well, if it was like truly like a monkey's paw like scenario where it's like, yeah, we're gonna give you the billion dollars, but here's the catch. I was like, well, it could have like started like filling his house with pennies. Like he could have gotten a billion dollars in pennies, and all of a sudden, like that would have been worse. Yeah.
SPEAKER_06So you just have to like, I think you would just have to take the time to be so specific in your wish that at that point it's like you're reading like a paragraph where you think you had like a lawyer look it over, it's like a two-page contract, and you're like, I believe that this is correct.
SPEAKER_03And then you have to read it to actually wish it too. Yeah, uh, but I was thinking about it, I was like, maybe this isn't like a a true like monkey's paw, like twisted wish kind of thing. Uh grant like Bear's wish obviously like goes sideways, but the like what he wished for, like he got it.
SPEAKER_06I you know, yeah, but there's no other way to make that wish happen either though, because you can't you can't change someone.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_06The only way to do that would would be to like you know, like what happens in the movie, I guess.
SPEAKER_03I guess yeah, I guess that's then we'll talk about like what happens there, but I I don't know, it I it's kind of like a f a coin flip, it almost seems like, because Ian got his wish pretty straightforward. It's just you know the way that he wished it. He was just getting cash pouring down in his house. Uh Bear's wish got a little more twisted. So is this truly like a monkey's paw thing where you know it you grants you your wish, but here's the thing. So yeah, like I it's it's basically it's hard to say like whether this was truly like a monkey's paw thing or if it's just the what Bear wished for, like the way to grant that. Like you said, you can't change somebody, so it's almost like Nikki became a passenger in her own in her own body there for sure for it.
SPEAKER_06There's no other way to do it.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. Uh so yeah, that's what I would wish for. I would wish for success for the podcast so that we could we could just hang out together and watch screen movies all the time.
SPEAKER_06I love what an optimist you are and what a pessimist I am. I'm like, that was never it's gonna go bad. It's gonna go bad. It's gonna go bad.
SPEAKER_03You gotta think this through.
SPEAKER_06You gotta, you know.
SPEAKER_03Oh man. All right, let's start talking about this movie. Things that things that we liked. Kristen, was there uh any scenes in particular that you really that really stuck out to you that you were sitting sitting in the seat and you were like, yes.
SPEAKER_06Oh yeah. I mean, there's a couple of times in this movie where I think that the things are like done well. Um you know how I feel about creepy movements. Uh, yep, yep. They do give me the creeps, and and you definitely get some of those in this movie, and I love that. Uh, and it's not over the top. Sometimes I think it's like too much.
SPEAKER_03You got the one at the end that was very like very obvious. Yeah. The the ones that I felt like the ones you got early on, I was almost like questioning. I was like, is that like natural like movement or like and just in the shadows, like it's very creepy? Oh yeah, it's creepy. Yeah.
SPEAKER_06I mean, I but that but that's what I mean. It's not like it's not like somebody coming down the stairs, you know, backwards or whatever, but it's it's just enough that it's like uh like uncomfortable.
SPEAKER_05Yeah.
SPEAKER_06Um, so like I think one of the scenes I really liked where that was used um was when she when he wakes up and he asks where she is and she's in the room. She's like in the corner, you can't see her, and then she like moves. Um and then at some point, I mean, there's like this whole awkward scene where she's moving around, she's being fucking weird.
SPEAKER_03Because she comes up to the edge of the bed. Like he's trying to get he's trying to get her to come back to bed, and she starts to.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, and at some point she like she does come back to the bed, she grabs the space and like covers her face. The whole thing is so fucking weird, but that whole scene is so uncomfortable that it's like it's enjoyable for me to watch because I was like, oh, yeah, I'm kind of get like creeped out. I don't know what's wrong with you. Like, why are you so fucking weird? Um, yeah, that scene is that scene's one of my favorites, and then obviously like the the face bashing and the steering wheel when um the friend dies. Sarah, yeah. Yeah, RP Sarah. Um that's just I mean, like I expected it because I've seen enough movies as I'm sure you were like, something's gonna happen. It's just like the way that it was the fit the way it was shot. I mean, you can answer the case. Totally. You were like, mm, there's a lot of the car windows happening. Yeah. Obviously. I mean, but they are having a conversation, but I'm always like, what's the next scare? And so you know, you know she's coming, you know she gets jealous. Like, you know, she's coming. I didn't know what side of the car she was gonna come from, but I knew she was fucking coming.
SPEAKER_03I I felt like it was going to be something there, like at the park where they were hanging out talking in the car. I but I wasn't like a hundred percent sure. I was like, maybe I was like, maybe she's just gonna be like standing there when he gets back waiting for him or something. I knew she was coming. Yeah.
SPEAKER_06But I didn't know she was gonna do that. I really did not anticipate the the just like the full speed, the window breaking, and just the immediate bashing. That all happened within like uh what like 20 seconds? It was like no time. It was just like you blinked and it it was happening.
SPEAKER_03Well, like the her like getting into the car or like breaking the window anyway, happened very rapidly. Yeah, like it was basically it was one of the few jump scares like in the outside.
SPEAKER_06The whole audience was like, Yeah. And I was like, nah, I saw that coming a mile away.
SPEAKER_03And yeah, and then by the Kristen the clairvoyant of the podcast. Uh and yeah, next thing you know, like she's she's you know, like still Nikki is standing outside the car, but she's got Sarah's head like held and is bashing it into a brick that she's holding on against the steering wheel.
SPEAKER_06Oh, that's what it was. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_03The whole time. Yeah, it's backed up. So yeah, she like breaks the window with this. It happens so fast. It does, but like the the act of breaking in is the part that happens fast. They linger on that face bashing for so long.
SPEAKER_06It is a long time.
SPEAKER_03It's and yeah, it keeps going, and I'm you're just sitting there and but that's what I mean from earlier.
SPEAKER_06It's like, what more could you do? Yeah, you saw it. It's not like doesn't pan back to his face the whole time it's happening, it's happening like we're seeing.
SPEAKER_03I think we do have a cut to his. I I can't remember for sure, but I feel like it does cut back to him at one point, and he's just like still staring ahead or something, or like still in shock, but it does like linger on the face bashing for it's forever, a long time. Um and then you get the shot of Sarah of Sarah's mutilated face afterwards. That's pretty good. Holy cow, it was graphic, and it was I yeah, just that whole time I was watching and I was like, holy fuck.
SPEAKER_06I was so happy because it doesn't happen till a long time into the movie. Yeah. And I was like, man, nobody's fucking gonna die in this movie's gonna piss me off. And then, oh yeah. I was hoping for murder at that party, truly, but it I knew it wasn't gonna take place. Yeah. But I was like, maybe maybe. But she does she you do get a little bit of graphic there when she like takes that bottle and stabs it into her head or whatever she does.
SPEAKER_03And there were there were definitely like some things about the scenes like that that I wanted to bring up. Um I want to jump back to the bedroom scene, like the one that you brought up first, where she's standing in the corner watching him sleep. Cause like all that I saw leading up to this, like the few things that I allowed myself to look into and read, and it was mostly just like based on the titles of posts on forums and Reddit and things like that, talking about uh Indy Navarrett's performance in this film.
SPEAKER_04Yeah.
SPEAKER_03Um, and one of my one of my coworkers uh had gone to see the film opening night, uh, and he told me, like, he goes, dude, this chick's performance, you you have to see it.
SPEAKER_06It's really good.
SPEAKER_03It's so good. And like afterwards, I was like, this is like, and it makes sense that like I made this comparison like in my own head uh before reading anything about it. But I was like, this is like some fucking Tony Collettin in fucking hereditary shit. I and turns out they watched Hereditary, like her and her cast members watched Hereditary together, like in the lead up to this, kind of like trying to get the feel for what Curry uh was trying to get out of this film.
SPEAKER_05Sure.
SPEAKER_03Uh so doing their research and everything. So it made sense. And there was also something that I hadn't read yet, uh, but I pulled up and in one of my tabs on on uh my internet was her talking about uh that performance's influence on her like preparation for this film. Uh one of the other like comps that I made to it was um Alex Angelis from You know, that's exactly what I was gonna bring up.
SPEAKER_06I was actually just gonna be like, I apologize because I forgot her name. But yes, uh I was thinking that same thing because the the facial and body movements, more so the facial with um Indy, just it almost was like, is it happening? Right, like and then I had that same feeling when we interviewed her. I was like, Is that you doing it? I think I asked that question.
SPEAKER_03I was like, that was our you that was our clip like that I that I cut together for for Instagram. Like, was that question in the interview? It was like you asking her, like, did you do that with your face?
SPEAKER_06And like, and she's like, Yeah, and I loved that. I love that. And that's how I felt about I had that same thought that you did. I was watching this and I was like, Whoa.
SPEAKER_03Because there are a few like very exaggerated expressions and everything.
SPEAKER_06She does it so well that you really question, you're like, Is it it has to be her? I would yeah, like it has to be her, yeah. And it's just, but it's so uncomfortable in the way that it happened, and she's so fluid when she does it that you're just like can someone's face do that?
SPEAKER_03Like it's it's the uncanny valley thing. It's like that thing that it's it looks human, but it doesn't look right. Like and yeah, right, yeah, that scene, like where she's standing in the corner and everything, like I love I love this. And one of the things that I love the most about this film is the tension that it builds never like fully releases, yeah. Like, even in the moments where she's calm and everything, you're like, okay, what's what's happening? And then when she has these outbursts and all of a sudden the tension is like built up, like, what is she going to do? Like, she's just like screaming in his face, and then she goes back to calm. But because of the way that it kind of like whips back and forth, you're never fully like comfortable again in that scene. You're like, is this could you be?
SPEAKER_06It's fucking weird. It is, and from the moment she's watching him sleep, it's weird.
SPEAKER_03But that's the thing I love about so like in that moment where she's you know, he's like sitting there freaked out because she's standing in this dark corner, like being very like whispery, quiet, and everything. And then she like come approaches the bed again and then like slinks away back and like does this like little zigzag back step, like back into the corner. Yeah, and the thing she's saying too, like, I think at that point, like was where she says, She's like, I don't want to come back to bed, I don't like my dreams, or something like that. Yeah, yeah. And it's like, what the fuck?
SPEAKER_06Like it's super weird. It builds a whole feeling. That whole scene is just such a a vibe, truly. Of it's so I mean, I it's uncomfortable, like I said. It just like everything piled on top of everything. The yeah, the choice and and the dialogue that they're having. Um, her just what she's doing is so fucking weird. Uh and everything, it yeah, that scene is just really good.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. That scene, uh the uh one of the other ones that like really where one of the ones that like I I picked out because this is where a lot of like I feel like some plot holes like started to open up here. Uh as far as like not necessarily plot holes, but like questions about how how this works. How does this one wish willow work? Uh, there's not a lot of explanation. There's no lore digging behind it or anything like that, which I feel would have made for like a weaker film, like if they had like if the friends had banded together to like research like how like the history of the one wish willow. You get a lot of that in like these modern horror films where it's like there's all now there's all this exposition about like here's how like over-explaining basically, and it kind of dilutes it, and you're creating more you're creating more threads that like can loose ends that make plot holes. Yeah, I guess. Uh with this, you don't really get that. Like they just exist in this world and it's kind of happening, and that's you're getting as much information as they are. So one of the things that uh pops up here is it's the night that Alex or that that Bear is sneaking out uh to go meet up with Sarah. Uh Sarah texts him, says she has something really important to tell him, uh, and she wants to talk in person. If he doesn't meet up with her, he's she's coming over there.
SPEAKER_04Yeah.
SPEAKER_03And so Bear's trying to sneak out because like Nikki's obsession at this point has way escalated. Sure. Uh this is after the party scene where she breaks the bottle and stabs herself in the face. Yeah. Uh this is after the one other night where he tries to like get up to go to the bathroom or something, and she just screams like stay like super loud.
SPEAKER_06Uh I think that was that same room scene.
SPEAKER_03It might have been yeah, it might have been the first night, uh, that first one where she's watching him sleep. But he decides that he's going to get up and go meet up with Sarah. And as he does, as he's leaving, uh you hear this like quiet voice saying, kill me and or says bear or try gets his attention or something, and then he turns around and it's Nikki that's talking to him. Yeah, but she's like still asleep.
SPEAKER_06Quote unquote Nikki is asleep, but is talking and she says she's not she's not me.
SPEAKER_03She says that she says something like she says you have to be quiet, don't wake her up. Yeah, don't wake her up. She's still sleeping.
SPEAKER_06He's like, just kill me.
SPEAKER_03And Nikki is asking him to kill her. Yeah. And this is where we find out that like Nikki still exists.
SPEAKER_06Yeah. I mean, we we knew she did because they had given little little glimpse pieces of her coming back.
SPEAKER_03There are yeah, there are moments like early on when he first makes the wish, like when she's outside his car, like right after he breaks the the willow and makes the wish.
SPEAKER_06It happens when he goes to kiss her.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. Uh, but that first time outside the car, he she's like back, she comes back to the car and is like talking to him and flirting a little bit, and then she like gets confused about like why she's like doing this, and then goes back to like being very flirtatious. Uh things that she's saying to him uh are things that he told her uh about himself, like so his cat dies, like very first part of this film.
SPEAKER_04Yeah.
SPEAKER_03Uh, and she says that her cat died, and he's like, No, that was my cat that died. And uh yeah, then when the kiss when they first kiss, there's this moment where she like freaked out, she like double takes and yeah, freaks out and says, What the fuck? and like falls backwards off the bed.
SPEAKER_06Uh yeah, but then pops back up as like, Oh, sorry. Yeah, back in psycho.
SPEAKER_03So yeah, there were like these little moments where it was like the wish was almost like still taking hold. Um, but yeah, then at this point where it's fully like encompassed her, uh this is where you realize that like what we've been seeing hasn't really been Nikki. Yeah. It's I don't know if that's that may be when you realized it, but she is uh and yeah, it's there it because again, because they don't we don't get like explanation on how this works or anything, we just have that kind of scene to work off of that Nikki's been here this whole time, but uh she's not necessarily like I and this is me like making my making a making a best guess here. Sure. I think she existed in there, kind of trapped in her own body, but not aware of what was happening because at the end of the movie, and I'll jump here to the end to the end to talk about it. After Bear kills himself, or after he's taken the pills and he comes back out there and dies. She made her wish. Because she yeah, she made her wish. After he dies in her arms, uh, that's you know, we found out like uh when he called the hotline or whatever that was on the one with Swillow that he would have to kill himself or she would have to die for the wish to be like truly broken and like undone. Uh so when this happens, when he dies, Nikki has that moment where like the the quote unquote Nikki is like there holding him sobbing and everything, and she's ready to, she's about to kill herself too. Uh and then the wish breaks, and then we get real Nikki back, and there's this and she has this moment where she kind of pauses and like looks around the room like she's not sure where she's at, and then sees Bear dead in her lap, and like starts, you know, sobbing uncontrollably and freaking out, and realizing I think that I don't know I think that she was in there and but almost like kind of like in like almost I I imagine it in as like a sensory deprivation kind of kind of room. Like imagine if you were in a dark room with like noise canceling headphones on.
SPEAKER_06I don't know. I think she was present.
SPEAKER_03You do?
SPEAKER_06I do, I do. I think it was more just like she couldn't control it. It was like somebody was like literally controlling her body for her and she was just like still there in the eyes being like, wow, that sucks. You know what I mean? Like not moving the eyes around, but I mean like she was still very much present. I think that's why she was creeped out when they were like kissing. Uh I mean, I don't think she would have been like, what the fuck? Like I don't if she was if she didn't know that it was happening. You know what I mean?
SPEAKER_03See, I think she I think the reaction would have been different if she had known what was happening. Because she would have seen like I'm kissing Bear right now.
SPEAKER_06Um, which is why I think she gave that.
SPEAKER_03But when she but when she snaps back, she's kind of like, what the like what the like she sees Bear there and is like, what the fuck? Like, yeah. I don't think she knew what she was what her body was doing.
SPEAKER_06I don't know. And she pushes him off of her at the end, too, which I think said like gross.
SPEAKER_03Well, you've got a dead body in your I don't know if she was like sad, like well, like imagine, imagine if you okay, like let's I don't know. Think think about think about it from my hypothesis here.
SPEAKER_06If I was like coming back and I just opened my eyes and I was like, wow, my friend is dead on my lap, and two, well not two, well, yeah, no, only one other dude was dead in the room. The other guy, Ian.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, she yeah, I don't think well, boy howdy when you get up.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. Um if you think it's bad now.
SPEAKER_06If you think it's bad now. Um I don't I don't know that I would like toss the body off. I think it would take me like a long time to process that. I think I would just be like, what the fuck is happening?
SPEAKER_03I don't think I would be like, yeah if if somebody like blindfolded me and I had no idea like what did she know he was dead?
SPEAKER_06Like she didn't even check. It's not like she like checked.
SPEAKER_03Well, she just like looked and he's like got foaming out the mouth and like laying in the back.
SPEAKER_06But more the point that if it was somebody that I was like my friend that I cared about and I like came to, I'd be like, Whoa, bear, what's up? Like, if you didn't know what happened, you would want to check. And she didn't, she fucking yeeted his body off and then started sobbing. I think because she was present for the entirety and was like, This is all fucked up. This is so fucked up. Like, how can I process that?
SPEAKER_03I how can how can you really know? Like we could ask the director. We could.
SPEAKER_06We could send him a we can just be like, Hey, sir. Yeah, can you please inquiring minds need to know just get on insta real quick here?
SPEAKER_03Inquire inquire.
SPEAKER_06You never know if he's gonna he might.
SPEAKER_03He might.
SPEAKER_06That's you never know till you ask.
SPEAKER_03That's how we talk to Damien and Damien and Alex. Just ask just be like just asking.
SPEAKER_06Inquiring minds want to know, do you think she was present? Or do you think she was like in a little safe space in her mind?
SPEAKER_03There were there would be so many questions I would ask, like if like if if he responded.
SPEAKER_06But that's the one we need the answer to.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. I that that is the one that I really would like to know because it's very and it could just be like a commentary kind of thing on like a can like power dynamics in relationships and like a controlling kind of thing, because it's you know, it's well like well documented that the quote unquote nice guys uh out there that think they have good intentions and everything.
SPEAKER_06Oh no, he's trash can often be some of the most manipulative and at the point in which he knew in the scene that you're talking about, and the point in which she says, kill me, he knew he knew she was still in there, and he did not care. He was like, I'm still gonna go on fucking. I'm as fucked up as this relationship is, is I have her.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. And he was like fully willing to just yeah, and like he even has a line in there too that is like, uh, is being with me really, really that bad? Yeah.
SPEAKER_06Like, which is fucked up.
SPEAKER_03Like, I I don't care about your feelings here. Like, yeah, it's there's points in this movie where I'm like he could make so many like smarter decisions here, like that would uh then you wouldn't have the movie, obviously.
SPEAKER_06But I think I think maybe the obsession is not from her, it's not from the wish that he made with her being obsessed with him, is that he is obsessed with her to the point that he does not care.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_06He's so obsessed with the idea of being with her that he does not care.
SPEAKER_03Cause yeah, that was that was one of my one of my like nitpicks about this movie is like there are so many times where you should like in logical thinking, you should turn and try and get some help here.
SPEAKER_06Oh, there's a hundred scenarios. There's the when the tape is over the door and he goes to work and he has to like remove the duct tape.
SPEAKER_03He has to pry pull the door open.
SPEAKER_06And then when he comes home and she's just been standing there the whole time and she's like shit herself and she's peed and she's thrown up, and he doesn't, he's just like, go take a shower. Yeah. Like, no, he didn't care to go get help. He knew what he did, and he was like perfectly like comfortable just fucking sweating it.
SPEAKER_03And that was the fucking cat sandwich day, too.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, that's so and he's like, You can't cook the cat. That's a bad choice.
SPEAKER_03We we talked about this.
SPEAKER_06You can't like can't do weird stuff.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, there so yeah, like my my nitpick is that, but again, this is him in his mind being like, I can't ruin this for myself. Yeah, I got you know, I got the girl of my dreams here, like, yeah, she's doing some weird stuff, but way more than weird, but yeah, is way more than weird. No, but like that in his head, it's like the justifications that he is going through to not get help. And Sarah and Ian, like, even throughout this, even though Ian's a piece of shit too, they're trying to, you know, sort of help him along with it.
SPEAKER_06They say you're like, you're taking advantage of her.
SPEAKER_03They're like, it's yeah, she's obviously going through something because early on in the film, uh like that first night uh where where they kiss, like after he makes the wish, uh she like Ian talks about like maybe she was on Molly again. Yeah. And you know, she like talks to him, talks to Ian and says that yeah, she was. Yeah. And then yeah, Sarah like talks to him about, you know, her because she gives him a she feeds him a story about her dad having cancer and she's just like kind of going through it. And like still they tell him, like, you're that you know, that's not a good situation for you to like be hooking up with her in. Like no. And yeah, so there's there's a lot of like a lot of like turn back now, like warning signs in the road of this film and everything, and he never turns back around once. And it's yeah, it's because like he's not he doesn't really have that redeemable, he's not supposed to have that redeemable quality. Yeah.
SPEAKER_06Like he this is Well, if he did, there would be no movie.
SPEAKER_03Again, yeah. I mean, he would have taken her to like a hospital and that would have been that you know, in if in in the perfect world, like avoiding all this trouble world, like he would have answered her question that first night when she came back to the car and asked him if if he liked her.
SPEAKER_06Yeah. He would have been like, no. You're fucking weird.
SPEAKER_03Well, no, I'm saying before she was. Yeah, he should have just said that. Because he he's doing the kind of like weird, like awkward flirting with her.
SPEAKER_06Dude, she asked him.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, she and she comes straight up comes back to the car because what does he call her? Like naughty Nikki or something like that, like a nickname she had from high school that she doesn't like. And he kind of says it in passing, like freaky Nikki, freaky Nikki or something like that. Uh, he says it as she's walking away to her to her doorstep, and she stops and is like, What'd you say? And like, and then he tries to play it off as he was joking, and she's like, You know, I don't like that. And she comes back to the car and straight up like gets in the window and says, and asks him, like, Do you like me?
SPEAKER_06Yeah. And he's like, Yeah, we're like friends.
SPEAKER_03We're like, we're like best friends, yeah. And she says And then she goes inside, and then he makes a stupid wish.
SPEAKER_06Yeah. And I'm like, Or you could have just fucking put on your big boy pants and said, Yes, I do, and dealt with whatever the consequences were, which that was was in fact she did not like you.
SPEAKER_03But yeah. Again, because you know, he is who he is, that wasn't going to that wasn't gonna happen. Like, then we don't get the movie. So there's a lot to a lot of stuff that like I I thought about this movie. Like, what about things that you didn't care for?
SPEAKER_06I mean, I don't care that he's like a piece of shit.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, obviously.
SPEAKER_06But obviously. Um it's like a little it's like a little slow in the I may I mean that's like I I don't feel like slow is even the right word, but it does feel like it's like it takes a little bit of time for some cooler stuff to start happening. You know? I'm not scary movies are always kind of like that. It's either you get it right away up front or it takes a little bit of time to like build the story and then do it right.
SPEAKER_03I think the pacing feels intentionally like dragged out here too for this movie because of like the discomfort that uh Curry's trying to build in these scenes, like lingering on shots for longer than you probably normally would. For sure. Uh I was reading that he didn't shoot a lot of coverage shots, so he was basically just shooting with one camera in these scenes and just like lingering on the stuff. And he like there was stuff about like learning afterwards that you know, maybe you should shoot some coverage so you have stuff. It makes it easier in the all like in the editing room to like cut your film together and stuff. But I I like the way that it was shot like that to sort of linger on those shots, like the one where he leaves her uh to go to work that day and she's just like standing there in the living room smiling, head tilted, yeah, and kind of like the fucking kind of like a puppy, like when you first get a puppy and leave for the first time.
SPEAKER_06I knew she wasn't she was gonna be right there when he came back.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, and yeah, she peased herself like right there, like when he first leaves and everything. Uh, but lingering shots like that. Like I know it was intentional and I love the feeling that it built for that. Yeah.
SPEAKER_06I don't mind I don't mind like the stay in one place for a little while. I was just that like I just wanted it to get to things sooner.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, you wanted more more. I just want more. Yeah.
SPEAKER_06Just want more, more fucking death. Yeah. Um yeah, I don't know. I think that you know, there's like some plot holy things that aren't great, but yeah, for the most part, I it's not like I didn't like it.
SPEAKER_03So yeah. There's a small part of me that kind of wishes we got a maybe just like a little bit more information about like one wish willows.
SPEAKER_06Uh I kind of love that we didn't though.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, like it's what were you gonna give?
SPEAKER_06You know, it's like I kind of loved that it was like you didn't know shit.
SPEAKER_03I guess maybe I just want my question answered about like what what was happening to Nikki like while all this was happening. Um yeah, like that and there's yeah, there's some plot hole. Whole stuff, like minor plot hole things, like if One Wish Willows like were that way, I feel like especially in this day and age, people would have caught on to that very quickly and you would have had like way more you know outrageous things happening in the world.
SPEAKER_06Well, they wouldn't be $6.99, that's for sure.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, for sure. Um I guess the other thing that I don't like is I don't like I don't like how uh Bear like kind of got out without consequence. Sort I guess like consequence is dying, but he kind of caused all this and everything very selfishly, like uh made this wish and you know had opportunities to to fix it. Even like when he even when he thinks he's found a way to fix it, when he goes back and buys the other one wish willow and tries to make the wish and then realizes he can't because he got his one wish. Yeah, he goes to Ian, tries to explain to Ian what's happening, and then Ian makes the throwaway like, here I'm gonna prove it's a million dollars. It's bullshit wish, and his his wish comes true. Why didn't you go buy another one wish willow and get like take some of that money from Ian's house and say, Hey, I'm gonna give you this much money if you just say these words and break this branch.
SPEAKER_04Yeah.
SPEAKER_03Um yeah, he's uh his character like is just very selfish, and it I don't feel like it changes throughout the film, which again, like it's probably supposed to be that way. But I just feel like his like the way that he goes out that way, like in his mind, he's probably thinking I'm doing this for Nikki, but in the at the same time, like he's gone now, and Nikki's coming back into this world where now three of her friends are dead. Yeah, she's killed two of them.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, the the thing knowingly or not, like Yeah, the thing that sucks is like, and I said I said that to Luke as we were leaving the theater. I was just like I was like, you know what sucks the most is that she didn't do anything, but now has to have the consequences of of being a part of it. It's not like she's like gonna get out of it. Yeah. Like she definitely murdered murdered that girl and then f fucking flayed her up in the other room. She killed Ian and like I mean, they're definitely probably gonna pin the other murder on her as well. There's no way they wouldn't. Um and that just sucks. Like he just like left her without it would have been better to just kill her, which is why I think that she like knew. That's like part of my like she must have known because l like otherwise, I feel like she would have just you know I don't know. I don't know. It's it just is like that's the shittiest thing to me is that he was like so selfish. He just didn't care that like if he took his own life, he was like stiffing her with that. She was gonna have to have all of that was like she was gonna the wish was gonna be broken and he knew that, and she was just gonna be like, Cool, I all my friends are dead, yeah, and it's my fault. Like that sucks.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, that's a shitty ending. Like, even if she gets away with the like even if there's a like a scenario where she gets uh just like insanity plea or something like that, like not fit to stand trial, like for whatever reason, uh she's still yeah, like you're still saddling her with this like having to deal with this and like remember all this and like live with that.
SPEAKER_06Yeah. And I feel like she should get she should get a second wish. I feel like I feel like the fucking I don't know, whoever was in her body, whatever, whatever was in her body. Whatever was controlled, took the wish. Yeah. And it wasn't her wish, obviously. So I feel like she should get a wish. That would be the best way to correct that situation, is just like wish your way out of it.
SPEAKER_03So yeah. I wanna uh before we like wrap up everything here, I kind of want to jump back and ask you what what do you think what are what are your thoughts on like what this was? Was this like an entity controlling Nikki's body? Or was this like just a sort of like a a veil of like obsession that like washed over her? Like you were saying, like I know you said that like you thought she could see and hear and was present for everything.
SPEAKER_06I think it's I think it's like an entity. I mean, I don't know you know, it just feels like it feels like it would have to be, right? Like like when we were talking about that in the beginning of this this podcast of like what what that would look like because you can't change somebody.
SPEAKER_05Yeah.
SPEAKER_06So I don't think it's like her her brain being altered by this wish. I think it's something in this magic world, wherever this willow came from, right? Like that there's some kind of like entity, not necessarily even a dark one. I don't think that there was like not Satan, it was like a demon, um, by any stretch of the imagination, because it was like pretty innocent most of the time. Like it was not I just think it was like the best the wish could do, right? Like you're you wish for something that's pretty unrealistic to give because you can't change a person. So like we're gonna just like implant something.
SPEAKER_03Well, but there's also like so the part of like the part for me that kind of prompted this question is there's a part in the movie where she she's doing all this stuff and she turns to him to Bear and says, You wanted this. Remember, like remember that that you this is what you wanted.
SPEAKER_06Yeah.
SPEAKER_03So whatever this is, like has knowledge that he wished for this.
SPEAKER_06Yeah. I mean, I think that like the the the willow tree, if you will, is like you know, full of something. It's how the wishes are granted.
SPEAKER_03It's some kind of like she has the uh like the little poem verse too about the willow. Yeah. About like a love so strong that only a willow could like For sure.
SPEAKER_06It's something to do with like, I'm not, I don't know what you want to call it, but it's you know, something is providing these wishes for every for everybody. Yeah. And that's what the something is that I think it is.
SPEAKER_03Some kind of that's cool. Well, we might like no no guarantees, but we might get some answers about how some of this stuff works because uh one of the things I did read was that uh Curry mentioned how he would like to do like an anthology series of like other will one wish willow stories. Sweet. Sort of outside of like this one. Yeah. Uh just other sort of like a uh I guess like a uh Twilight Zone kind of kind of thing, like Tales from the Crypt. I'm here. I mean that could go on forever. Yeah, you could do it. Any number of stories. So Curry, if you listen to this episode and you need one, like maybe have one about a uh podcaster who wishes for success for his podcast, and we can we can collab on that one.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, but here's what I'm saying about that wish. You could get like the most successful podcast, but then maybe we're only so successful because we did a podcast on like that movie that we watched, and it's some kind of demonic thing, and the podcast is like so successful, but then we die in the podcast, and that's like why it's so successful.
SPEAKER_05Yeah.
SPEAKER_06You have to be more specific with your wish, bro. Do not kill me in your shit wish, bro.
SPEAKER_03Kristen's like, if I end up in a horror movie because of your wish.
SPEAKER_06I swear to God, I'm not gonna die. No, I am not gonna die in that horror movie.
unknownNope.
SPEAKER_03Um, I know what I have to do and kills Derek.
SPEAKER_06I definitely definitely would. I would have if I had to, I would do it. I'm not gonna die in this scary movie.
SPEAKER_03All right, Kristen. Well, we uh we've touched on on these these favorite things of yours in in the talking about the movie, but let's uh let's officially cover them in our favorite kills.
SPEAKER_06All right. Um there was only two kills in this whole movie. One is not very exciting. Uh Ian. There's three. Oh, three. Well, he kills himself. Well, okay it's a death. Three. There are three. Um Ian, who comes in the door to say, It works. I'm a billionaire. And then he gets shot in the fucking hand.
SPEAKER_03They literally have a billion dollars. Yes.
SPEAKER_06Uh sucks to be you. So that's the that's the first death. And then, well, the very first death is actually Sarah, where she gets her fucking face bashed into the brick on the steering wheel. Then you get Ian, um, and then you get um Bear who takes some weird medication that his cat got into earlier that makes him foam with the mouth, which medication is like, don't take this. Oh, yeah, we always just have a moment of silence for the pets. That was really sad. No, what that was not a moment. Okay, R.I.P. CD. Um Yes, cats cats are the worst when they die. It's very sad. And then and then she eaten. Um, yes, and then and then Bear takes some meds uh that make him thumb at the mouth and die.
SPEAKER_03I think it was like oxycodone or something. I can't remember what the label was. She would have to take a lot. Yeah.
SPEAKER_06That fast. Okay. Um, so which is your favorite killer out of those three?
SPEAKER_03I mean, I it's it's gotta be Sarah. Like it's just the the horror movie death in this in this film. Yeah. Because you don't even see Ian's death really. No. Because it's it's so fast. Like he bursts through the door, like while Nikki is having this freak out at Bear. Yeah. Uh he burst through the door and says, I literally have a billion dollars, and sh Nikki, like without even looking, like just points the gun at the door, shoots, and then it whips back to Nikki. Yeah. So yeah, you don't even see him like hit the ground. No. Uh and then Bear's death is a you know, slow, slow agonizing.
SPEAKER_06Wow, that's not even really that slow.
SPEAKER_03Not slow, yeah.
SPEAKER_06Not slow enough.
SPEAKER_03He deserved slower. Uh yeah, like he well, he was actively trying to like take it back too, right? Yeah. When Nikki makes her wish on the other one wish Willow. Uh yeah, he was just about to stick his fingers down his throat to to puke up. Or he was doing it, yeah. Yeah. Uh so yeah, I'm I'm going with Sarah. It's the one that, you know, has like the really big jump scare, uh, and then just to have it go on for that long. And everything that happens after that just yeah, it's insane.
SPEAKER_06Yeah. Um yeah, that definitely gets like my my gore rating. Uh, but the way I always like I picked the one where I would least like to die. And I feel like not because I d I think suicide would be the worst way to go by pills. I just think it would be that Bear is the worst and that he literally just saw two of his friends die and has been going through it with Nikki. So much so that he's like, he's like, this is this is the end, but not the end. And then who knows, right? Like if he's in his body and he's like, Oh, well, I'm glad it's ending. Like if he's present, right? Because he he's not, maybe.
SPEAKER_03Um it was very much like a like not the same kind of like happy, like happy sad ending.
SPEAKER_06Well, we don't know what she wished either. Well, I mean, we can make a guess.
SPEAKER_03I think you you can kind of tell because he leaves the bathroom to like go be with her. Because like the entire time, like she's leading up to this, like, why is like why won't why don't you love me like the way that I love you, kind of thing. So you can you can assume the wish that she made, but I was thinking, I was like, this is almost like a Romeo and Juliet kind of kind of ending to this movie. Yeah. Like without you know the actual like romance of it all. Yeah. Because it's very like really fucked. But yeah, like they they get this moment where they're together, and then like right as she gets what she wants at this in this state, he dies. Yeah, for sure.
SPEAKER_06So yeah, so uh I I would say Bears Bear's death is probably the worst just in how much he had to endure.
SPEAKER_03I almost thought you would pick I almost thought you would pick Ian in that moment. Because he like won a billion dollars or like got a billion dollars and then died.
SPEAKER_06I don't know. Fast deaths are always like you didn't even know you died.
SPEAKER_05Yeah.
SPEAKER_06Like he's still living on the high of the billion dollars that happened so fast. Unless it didn't, and and they just didn't show him like bleeding out over there, like suffering.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_06We don't know. We don't know. Yeah.
SPEAKER_03All right. Well, after we talk about these films, we gotta give him a rating. And on this podcast, we use the scream scale. For the uninitiated, the scream scale is a scientifically perfected system where we award the films that we watch a number of screams from one to ten. So without further ado, Kristen, how many screams are you giving obsession?
SPEAKER_06Well, I did find this movie to be creepy at times, um, which is good. Uh, and it was a good watch, and I think that uh Indy looks a lot like Natalie Portman, which you know I love. So I was very happy. To watch this film. Um all in all, I was like, but it was pretty good. It was a good movie. I liked it. I would I would recommend it to like starter scary movie people who were like, what should I watch? That's not like that scary. I don't think this one's gonna like give you nightmares, but is gonna make you uncomfortable. So uh all that wrapped up into a number would probably be an eight. I liked it eight. I liked it eight, which is a lot.
SPEAKER_03That's a lot, yeah. That's a good one. All right. Uh for me, I I really, really, really liked this movie. I liked the way that I felt watching it. Like I I like I didn't like it, but like I liked the feelings that it evoked because like I was like, this is how I should feel like when I watch a watch a horror movie. Like I should feel this way. And yeah, it just heightens the experience, and maybe it's like having the full theater to kind of around you, experiencing that as well. I think it was just like a well-acted and executed, like Indy did such a good fucking job playing Nikki. Like it was just amaz an amazing performance. And even to the point that when I left the theater, like I haven't had a a movie hasn't really like stuck with me when I left a theater for a long time.
SPEAKER_04Yeah.
SPEAKER_03This one did. Like when I was walking out of the theater, I still had that like ick, ick in me, like feeling in me that like I had to like be careful and like watch, watch out for something. Coming home to a dark house. I was like, is Candace gonna be standing in the corner? I was like, this kind of reminds me of like how I felt after I saw It Follows.
SPEAKER_04Yeah.
SPEAKER_03Like just that kind of like having to look over my having to look over my shoulder kind of feeling about it too. So like I I was driving away from the theater and I was like, yeah, this is like this good fucking job, dude. Like, good job, Curry. Uh so yeah, all that to say, like the the good acting, the great fucking like cinematography, like the way the movie was cut together and everything. Also good. Uh, I'm giving this one nine screams.
