Today, we are going to talk about  the Trademark Modernization Act, a major piece of legislation that was signed into law late last year. The trademark law might have been easy to overlook since it was tucked inside the 5,500-plus COVID-19 relief bill. 

Our guests today have unearthed the Trademark Modernization Act and will walk us through some of the significant changes it makes to both trademark and copyright law: 

  • Joe Matal, a Washington, D.C. partner in Haynes and Boone’s IP Practice, who previously served as acting director and acting solicitor of the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. Joe has called the law we’re discussing today the most significant piece of trademark legislation in the last 75 years and will tell us why.
