them"},{"startTime":291.11,"endTime":296.629,"body":"a better tomorrow, the possibility of"},{"startTime":296.9,"endTime":301.59,"body":"of achieving different dreams than they"},{"startTime":296.9,"endTime":301.59,"body":"were able to, um, so we stayed here in"},{"startTime":301.59,"endTime":304.31,"body":"the United States afterwards and, um."},{"startTime":304.395,"endTime":305.415,"body":"From there."},{"startTime":305.775,"endTime":309.125,"body":"Um, I, you know, I did"},{"startTime":305.775,"endTime":309.125,"body":"relatively well in school."},{"startTime":309.365,"endTime":314.275,"body":"I, I, I, I, I felt, I think the pressure"},{"startTime":309.365,"endTime":314.275,"body":"when I was a kid, not for my parents,"},{"startTime":314.275,"endTime":321.175,"body":"but just internal of if I don't get a, a"},{"startTime":314.275,"endTime":321.175,"body":"full ride somewhere, if I don't, um, get"},{"startTime":321.175,"endTime":326.455,"body":"into a good school, then their kind of"},{"startTime":321.175,"endTime":326.455,"body":"sacrifice would've been worth for or safety"},{"startTime":383.63,"endTime":388.01,"body":"as a survivor of domestic violence."},{"startTime":388.31,"endTime":394.105,"body":"Um, Um, either to escape to protect"},{"startTime":388.31,"endTime":394.105,"body":"yourself from, um, to have a"},{"startTime":394.105,"endTime":397.035,"body":"contingency plan to protect yourself"},{"startTime":394.105,"endTime":397.035,"body":"from violence, to know where you"},{"startTime":397.035,"endTime":398.665,"body":"go in case something plans"},{"startTime":409.385,"endTime":412.544,"body":"consisted of things like who do you you put in an email to, um, if"},{"startTime":417.905,"endTime":422.254,"body":"you were to get, uh, into trouble"},{"startTime":417.905,"endTime":422.254,"body":"or in deportation proceedings?"},{"startTime":422.775,"endTime":425.605,"body":"Um, what happens if you"},{"startTime":422.775,"endTime":425.605,"body":"have a medical my father, I mean, after"},{"startTime":436.34,"endTime":439.919,"body":"20 years of living here in the"},{"startTime":439.919,"endTime":443.66,"body":"United States, a few years ago,"},{"startTime":439.919,"endTime":443.66,"body":"recently, he had a heart attack,"},{"startTime":444.029,"endTime":445.994,"body":"and he was in the, in the hospital."},{"startTime":446.205,"endTime":450.995,"body":"In the parking lot of the emergency"},{"startTime":446.205,"endTime":450.995,"body":"room thinking I don't want to go"},{"startTime":450.995,"endTime":457.105,"body":"in because if I go in, um, I can"},{"startTime":450.995,"endTime":457.105,"body":"become a public charge, right?"},{"startTime":457.405,"endTime":462.165,"body":"I, I, I can be, uh, it might jeopardize"},{"startTime":457.405,"endTime":462.165,"body":"my, my ability to become a permanent"},{"startTime":462.174,"endTime":468.015,"body":"resident and he, when, when we finally"},{"startTime":462.174,"endTime":468.015,"body":"forced him, my sister forced him to go in,"},{"startTime":468.515,"endTime":472.045,"body":"uh, because she was on the phone with me"},{"startTime":468.515,"endTime":472.045,"body":"and I said, He's having a heart attack."},{"startTime":472.095,"endTime":474.865,"body":"Every symptom that you're telling me"},{"startTime":472.095,"endTime":474.865,"body":"indicates that he's having a heart immediately"},{"startTime":476.655,"endTime":481.305,"body":"rush him to the operating room because,"},{"startTime":481.514,"endTime":482.845,"body":"you know, they put a stent in his heart."},{"startTime":483.075,"endTime":487.135,"body":"He needed bypass surgery and they"},{"startTime":483.075,"endTime":487.135,"body":"said he's been having a heart"},{"startTime":487.135,"endTime":490.705,"body":"attack since the pain started,"},{"startTime":487.135,"endTime":490.705,"body":"which was an hour and a half ago."},{"startTime":490.745,"endTime":493.395,"body":"So my father was going through an"},{"startTime":490.745,"endTime":493.395,"body":"hour and a half of heart attack."},{"startTime":493.845,"endTime":497.745,"body":"Um, he ended up with a stent for a"},{"startTime":493.845,"endTime":497.745,"body":"for an artery that was blocked at"},{"startTime":497.745,"endTime":500.804,"body":"100 percent and a triple bypass."},{"startTime":500.815,"endTime":506.315,"body":"So he, he had four arteries that were"},{"startTime":500.815,"endTime":506.315,"body":"clogged at 95%, 98 percent and 100%."},{"startTime":506.604,"endTime":511.135,"body":"So by all intents and purposes, he should"},{"startTime":506.604,"endTime":511.135,"body":"have died right there in the parking when"},{"startTime":531.949,"endTime":535.72,"body":"we go to the airport, we dress up"},{"startTime":531.949,"endTime":535.72,"body":"because if we're going to be deported,"},{"startTime":535.72,"endTime":537.199,"body":"we're going to go out in style."},{"startTime":537.569,"endTime":541.31,"body":"And of course you make these jokes"},{"startTime":537.569,"endTime":541.31,"body":"in order to live in order to kind"},{"startTime":541.31,"endTime":542.71,"body":"of go through your life to were,"},{"startTime":588.28,"endTime":593.54,"body":"um, I think he would say they were"},{"startTime":593.55,"endTime":599.889,"body":"angels sent by God in that they forgave"},{"startTime":593.55,"endTime":599.889,"body":"actually a lot of his his bills and"},{"startTime":599.899,"endTime":601.76,"body":"the hospital itself forgave his bills."},{"startTime":601.829,"endTime":606.88,"body":"And, um, but I think that is such a"},{"startTime":601.829,"endTime":606.88,"body":"powerful, I think, story because so these"},{"startTime":611.38,"endTime":613.52,"body":"systemic pressures."},{"startTime":613.75,"endTime":618.75,"body":"And by the way, my dad had been paying"},{"startTime":613.75,"endTime":618.75,"body":"taxes, social security, Medicare,"},{"startTime":618.76,"endTime":621.74,"body":"Medicaid, like that since the moment"},{"startTime":618.76,"endTime":621.74,"body":"that he landed in this country, every,"},{"startTime":621.74,"endTime":626.439,"body":"you know, he has his tax returns"},{"startTime":621.74,"endTime":626.439,"body":"from every single year and proudly."},{"startTime":626.439,"endTime":630.839,"body":"So he's a permanent resident"},{"startTime":626.439,"endTime":630.839,"body":"now, but you know, that's, yeah."},{"startTime":631.5,"endTime":636.15,"body":"Yeah, I think a lot of people don't"},{"startTime":631.5,"endTime":636.15,"body":"realize that a bit more undocumented,"},{"startTime":636.17,"endTime":638.29,"body":"actually, a lot of them paid taxes."},{"startTime":638.6,"endTime":638.89,"body":"The U."},{"startTime":638.89,"endTime":639.01,"body":"S."},{"startTime":639.04,"endTime":641.57,"body":"Government makes it very"},{"startTime":639.04,"endTime":641.57,"body":"easy for people to pay taxes."},{"startTime":642.7,"endTime":644.27,"body":"That part is very
