The Reddy Kilowatt Hour
From Beautiful Downtown Merrifield in the shadow of the Mosaic District, it’s the Reddy Kilowatt Hour, presented Thursdays at 9 pm ET on Radio Fairfax (Fairfax, Virginia). Hosted by a washed-up college DJ that is demonically possessed by a discredited cartoon spokesman for the electric industry. Reddy J Kilowatt is your rock and roll servant, featuring alt-rock, progressive rock, soul, occasional punk rock, deep tracks, forgotten classics, and brand new, angst-ridden favorites. Inspired by the great FM stations and DJs of the 70s and 80s who played whatever they felt like, along with the old AM radio energy of the late 60s - early 70s. There's still great new music out there and we play it in the context of the whole history of both rock and roll. #rock #roll #radio #reddykilowatt #alternative #progressive #whfs #wmms #wxrt #wlir #kroq #wmse #kcrw #cklw #worldsoldestcollegedj #radiofairfax

Before that, Talking Heads Girlfriend is better from 1983, speaking in tongues. Not making sense. You're listening to the ready kilowatt hour on Radio Fairfax. Lizard is a band from Belgium. SPEAKER_00That's cloth. The song Polaroid. Off an album that's gonna be out April twenty-fifth called Pink Silence. The hail from Glasgow, Scotland. Very duo. Before that, as I as I look at my notes here, we heard Vienna Vienna. The song was off an EP called Entertain Me. Vienna Vienna comes from the hotbed of Fresno, California, which also happened to be the home of the classic Native American rockers Red Bone. Vienna Vienna calls his genre Glimmer Rock. He's gonna be joining the Warp Tour here in DC on June 13th and 14th, which will take place on what they're calling the Festival Ground at RFK campus. AKA the site of the former RFK Stadium. Something like 100 plus bands are gonna be playing over those two days. And as of yet they have not renamed anything from RFK Festival Ground. I'm sure many people may be thankful for that so far. Before that, we heard Lazard doing Coltrane and XP C of their latest album, HT Hot and Hill, which is Ready for What's Going On? Okay, what's going on? You're listening to the Ready Hill What Hour and Radio Hair Fact. We're gonna take it to the top of the hour now. It somehow made the Billboard top 10 but didn't even crack the charts in the UK. This is a song called Many a Mile to Freedom. And it I think it rings as true today as it might have back then.
SPEAKER_06Call all my grain to grow, then together we flow like a river, and together we melt like the snow. If you should ask me to give you the reason for life that we know, and together we flow like the river, and together we live like the snow, you can see that. If you should ask me to give you the reason for life that we know Together we flow like a girl.
SPEAKER_00Many a mile to freedom from the low spark of high heeled boys. Steve Winwood was at Wolf Trap last September, got the chance to see him. Didn't look a day over 38, but he he certainly can still sing. And you know what? He's coming back to Wolf Trap on September 15th. He's gonna be bringing John Fogarty this time. Yep. John Fogarty and Steve Winwood together at Wolf Trap on September 15th. Amazing. Steve Winwood celebrating his 78th birthday next month. Absolutely amazing.
