The Open Championship is hours away, Royal Birkdale is reportedly firm and fast, and we’re doing what golf sickos do best: talking ourselves into an early wake-up, a hot cup of coffee, and a week of bounces we can’t predict. We start with the excitement of links golf and why the Open still feels unlike any other major, from the fans to the shot-making to the way the course asks you to play the ground instead of flying everything to a number.

Then we bring it back to the most relatable struggle in golf: you finally crack the code with ball striking, start hitting a ton of greens, and suddenly your putting has nowhere to hide. We talk about the “new putter” honeymoon phase, why missing inside eight to twelve feet is so maddening, and how to think in percentages and progress instead of pure emotion. When you create more chances, converting them becomes the whole game.

We also get into a raw rant on the golfer experience at public courses: bumpy greens, bad cups, soggy sand bottles, and the lack of accountability that makes it hard to play good golf or run a fair tournament. From there, we zoom out to what pro golf could do better, including smarter TV coverage that highlights cut-line pressure and underdog storylines, plus how real tournament prep looks with GPS planning, target lines, and committing to a plan.

Subscribe, share this with a golf buddy who loves the Open, and leave a review if the show helps you think about golf a little differently.

Open Championship Eve Energy

SPEAKER_01

Hello and welcome to another episode of the Measured Golf Podcast, where you, the listeners, sit down and join Chuck and I as we discuss all things golf. And it's a glorious day. It is Christmas Eve for the golfer that enjoys the open more than any other golf championship. And we are on the eve of the open championship, I believe the 154th Open Championship playing at Royal Burkedale. I think we're in for a good one. Reports are coming out that it is playing very firm and very fast. And I am excited about waking up much too early tomorrow to catch some early coverage before heading to the beach due to being on vacation. But you can rest assured, I will be watching the open while sunning or avoiding the sun at the beach as I like to do. So it's an exciting time. I think a lot of people really enjoy waking up, having their coffee, and golf is on TV. And I know nobody is more excited about golf right now than one, Mr. Chuck Hudson, who is in love. He has potentially considered getting a new wedding band for his new flat stick. And I think all is going to be right in the world now that we have solved the issue with the putter, because we went from no putter to the love of his life. So I'm excited to hear how the putting gets better with the new putter.

SPEAKER_02

Well, it's still in the in the wrapping, the clear wrapping. So I put it all day with it in the wrapping, but I think I like it. People have seen Wyndham. He's got the white one that's a square head. I've got the one that has more of a maybe an oblong shape to it. But that same uh type, I don't know what they're calling it. Um the Scottsdale or something.

SPEAKER_01

Um Scottsdale tech, I think.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah. And it's got a fraction of toe hang, which I have been slightly pulling putts the last several months, and it's just culminated in now I can't make anything inside eight feet, and it's gonna drive me nuts.

SPEAKER_01

It does look good. You sent it to me earlier wanting to know what I thought of it, and I believe I text you back beauty is in the eye of the beholder. It's a new relationship. You're gonna take the wrapper off this, you're gonna commit to it. I know that's not one of your strong suits, but we're gonna commit to this, and it's going to be a love that endures forever.

SPEAKER_02

At least I hope so. I hope so. Um it sits.

SPEAKER_01

Ball striking's been great for you. It's just we haven't been able to make any putts.

SPEAKER_02

We have cracked the code on the ball striking, uh, which for the newer listener to the podcast was what initially brought me to you when I uh that was my first

New Putter And Short Putt Struggles

SPEAKER_02

question. Uh or or not question, but my first thing I brought up was I can't control my face, I can't get the ball started where I'm wanting, and I also can't get it to finish where I want. And so if you haven't listened to last week's podcast on how to start it and get it to go where you want it to go, you need to listen to that one. Uh friend of the show is.

SPEAKER_01

I don't think people are are are taking that to heart. And I I think everybody just naturally assumes they know how to aim.

SPEAKER_02

So Josh, who you know, Josh Ernest here in Chattanooga, uh he listens to us regularly. He called me in the and Josh is a really good player, and he called me in the middle of the podcast, and he was like, Okay, explain this to me, because I think I've had it all wrong too. And we finished the conversation, like a 30-minute conversation. He was like, I'm pulling up to the club right now, I'm about to go hit some balls. And then two minutes later, he's like, Oh my gosh, this is the most freeing thing I've done. And Josh is somebody that typically has a path that's pretty consistent, and um, I'm always surprised when he doesn't hit a ball online, he's got such a good swing. Um and this may also be cracking the code for him. Um I mean, the aim and and for mine, the aim absolutely helped and helped free me up, but we did we we've had some good tweaks to the golf swing recently, which are exciting.

SPEAKER_01

Um I haven't had ball striking this consistent in a long time, and it and that's not just how you feel, that's what we're seeing through with clipped.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, and it was just so frustrating in the metro this past weekend. Um I talked up this I talked up this course last week in this damn podcast. I will never go back. Um, it didn't help that I made nothing, um, but it was in rough shape.

SPEAKER_01

I gotta be honest though, and I've saved this for the podcast and not one of our private conversations, but I have never picked up the phone and heard you that frustrated after the first round. And you are very polite and well-mannered, and I I I've never heard you speak that way before. And the thing that really was jarring in what took me took me to a place of feeling good about things is as frustrated and as angry as you were with the outcome of day one, you actually said a couple positive things about your ball striking. And I was like, I'll be damned. I think we actually are making some progress with Chuck because you were very upset, but also weren't like throwing your ball striking under the bus, which which has been kind of the case in the past with us. Um, not that you've been yelling at me about it, but you've been like, ah, there's more there, there's more there. But this was like the first time I kind of heard you be like, hey, I'm just not making enough butts, and I actually hit it better. And the thing that you said that really made me feel good about things is you're like, I haven't, I think you said that you had never felt that comfortable standing over the golf ball before.

SPEAKER_02

Ever in my life, yeah. That it was it was the most comfortable I had been. Um it was eerie at times of this feels almost feels wrong because it feels so right. And then it was frustrating because it's typically my putting, my short game, and my driver. And it's I make a couple of putts around, like I hit you know, seven greens, I make three of those, and then I get up and down a bunch and don't make a bunch of bogeys, and my driver is always in play. So it was just frustrating to uh, you know, we fit 14 greens, and we've only made you know two or three putts.

SPEAKER_01

So it and and it was a lot of them inside of 12 feet and a lot of them inside of 10 feet, and um like I've told you too, and this is probably good for the listener, but you know, for a significant portion of golfers, let's say a five handicap or better, you know, their putting is good enough for what their ball striking looks like. But then you finally get to this place to where you're scoring 103 with the driver, you're scoring in the mid-90s with your iron player, your approach play. And then it's like, well, wait a minute, now I'm hitting all these greens and I'm having a lot of good looks, but nothing's falling. And it's like we actually eventually get to this place to where you got to make more pots. And I think that's kind of where we've finally gotten with you. We've got some things sorted out with how you're picking targets, how you're lining up to targets. We got the golf swing to where you're able to hit it out of the middle of the face and predict how it's gonna curve. And now it's like, okay, well, what are you gonna do with all these new opportunities? And I think that's where the the rubber kind of meets the road with you when it comes to your putting.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah. Yeah, it it now needs to match, which through clipped, we we've always seen that it's a strength, and but now it's it's like, yeah, it's a strength from four feet and in, and and it may be a strength lag putting, but it's not in that 15 and in, you know, 15 to 6 foot range. Um needs to be a little better.

SPEAKER_01

Uh yeah, I think your next step is you know getting to where let's say you're you're 50, 60 percent from eight feet and in. And once we kind of get there, it's like, okay, well, we're making more there. So mathematically, statistically, if you will, you start making a couple more from 12 to 15 feet. And if you can make a couple of those 12 to 15 footers, okay, it's gonna be a good round. We're gonna shoot a couple under par kind of thing. But we've got to kind of first own that, let's call it zero to eight foot range to where we're like 50, 60. You know, it's hard to get much better than 60 percent from there, but that's that's kind of what we're striving for right now.

SPEAKER_02

It'll come. Hopefully, with this uh this new putter, we get some confidence going and

When Ball Striking Outgrows Putting

SPEAKER_02

we still got it's nice to have a new putter, man.

SPEAKER_00

It's nice to start a new relationship, it's the honeymoon phase. Everybody, it's goo goo gaga, you know. Like we this is a good time.

SPEAKER_02

Uh maybe maybe I'm just a sick person, but that whole like standing over the ball and it feels too good. I was standing over this putter today and I was like, wow, this feels too good. Maybe that's why I haven't taken it out of the package yet because I'm just waiting on the other shoe to drop.

SPEAKER_01

Um the real trick is is I used to I used to play college golf with this kid, great kid. Uh I shall remain nameless because he would be embarrassed if I said this. Uh every tournament, because I played with him in high school too. Every high school tournament, every college tournament, he would show up and his golf clubs would be in the front seat. And I would be like the passenger seat. And I was always like, dude, like you have a back seat, you have a trunk. He's like, no, no. I want the golf clubs to know that I love and respect them.

unknown

Oh.

SPEAKER_01

I guess that. So maybe uh maybe you should, you know, let the putter sleep in the bed with you tonight. You know, it's it really formed that bond.

SPEAKER_02

We start making some putts, I'll do whatever that thing wants. Uh we start to make some.

SPEAKER_01

I mean, I'm I'm in a similar situation. I'm gonna go back to Michigan. Uh I'm down in Naples, Florida right now with the wife, uh, and join a little uh vacation. It's been a busy season. It's nice to have a week off, but I'm going home and I'm going home to 13 new golf clubs. And I've kind of made the decision that uh I'm back. Whether whether the hip feels better, I'm back. I'm gonna play some golf, man. I'm itching for it. I want to play. Um, I'm ready. So one way or another, either it's gonna be better or it's I'm gonna ride it until it breaks, but I'm gonna play some golf when I get back. So I'm excited about the new sticks.

SPEAKER_02

Well, I hope you don't play anywhere like where we had the metro Chuck.

SPEAKER_01

I only play places like where you played the metro.

SPEAKER_02

I I don't think you I don't know that this it was in such bad shape. I I was so disappointed. I won't go back, and I hate to say that. If we'd had this podcast the minute that thing ended, no one that listens to this would ever go anywhere near Brainerd Golf Course.

SPEAKER_01

No, you did not have nice things to say.

SPEAKER_02

No, I was so frustrated with it. So frustrated.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, and it's it's tough, man. I mean, there are there are definitely days like you described to me to where you know good drives find a divot in the fairway, you know, drives are a little bit off, find a bad bad lie in the rough, um, putts bouncing around. Like that, that is an absolute crippler for me as well. When I start seeing balls on the green bouncing around as they're rolling, there's very few. There's very few things that make me angrier.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, and that's all we saw. I mean, they couldn't even replace a cup properly. We so you had like the cup was in one spot one day and you come back the next, and the cup they they replaced, it was either sticking up above the turf or it was under the turf. I had to roll one that this cup, this old cup, was it felt like a half inch below the rest of the putting surface. Um, I'm just like, and then the the sand on the cart, by the way, the carts didn't even have a canopy to cover for rain, cover the golf club. So I and we knew we might get some rain, and we did. We had a bunch of weather delays. I'm like holding the small umbrella out the back over my clubs while I'm driving the cart. You can't even fill the divots in the fairway because the sand, I guess none of the bottles could withstand the rain, so all the sand was just mush. You couldn't even try and take care of the golf course because the golf course wouldn't allow it. And then you get to the greens and there's ball marks everywhere.

SPEAKER_01

It was just a welcome to public golf.

SPEAKER_02

I know, I know. You keep saying it, it's bad as I'm gonna believe it.

SPEAKER_01

It's bad, and like I I get it, like so many people reach out to me and they're like, Oh, you know, it's great here, it's great here. And it's like, I look, you know, I'm I'm I'm very, very fortunate. You're very fortunate. We've both gotten to play some amazing golf courses. Um, and and no, it's not good, it's just people don't know better. Yeah, and it's it's really sad what it's turning into. It's I mean, a big you know, granted, I've been hurt, so that that isn't helping me play golf, but you know, we were talking about it a while ago, and it's like, well, when you don't play any play in any tournaments and you don't have golf courses that you love to play that you're excited to go play golf at, you know, it's kind of hard to to find the motivation to go out there and spend four or five hours. And you know, if it's public, it can it can be worse. So yeah, I I don't know, man. It's it's not I know that the podcast that we did where we talked about a little bit of this, you know, a lot of people had strong opinions about it, but I I don't think golf is is really moving the right direction in terms of the golfer's experience.

SPEAKER_02

And I wanted I wanted to take care of the golfer. I wanted to fill the divots uh because I didn't want to be I didn't want somebody to be in one of my divots like I found of someone else's all weekend. Um but you like you couldn't even fill the divots because of the sand. It was like not even possible, and then they didn't even have a place for you to refill the sand, so it was just these places can be better about helping the golfer take care of the golf course, but then you see the Yahoos that were playing after us, um and I don't think they had any interest in taking care of the golf course, but yeah, the experience is not good.

SPEAKER_01

I don't think they have any interest. I don't think that they've been conditioned or trained to take care of the golf course, and sadly enough, I don't I don't think the golf course is doing anything to help make this like I I don't understand. You look at the staffing levels at these golf courses and you see people running around all over the place. You know, why can't we have somebody on the first tee that goes, hey guys, you're gonna fix ball marks today. Here's a tool, here's how you do it, or hey, here's how you use a T or whatever the case may be. Hey, here's how you replace divots, hey, here's how you rake a bunker. Let's go. Like, we're gonna hold you accountable to this. And I can't believe I'm saying this because I've never been a fan of them. But golf courses, especially the public ones, they really need a ranger, but they need a ranger who's out there instead of worrying about you know whatever they're worried about, they need to be out there and they need to be keeping an eye on groups. And A, are they keeping pace? B, are they fixing ball marks? Are they raking bunkers? And C, if they're not doing it, you've got to say something. You can't expect people to self-police anymore because they just won't do it. So it's sad, and I hate when it affects the outcome of a tournament. Uh, and you know, we've talked about this before, but I don't like when a rules official or the golf course becomes part of the storyline in a tournament, and it's the same with local tournaments as well. Like, I don't want, hey, the greens were like, hey, I I think you're a big boy. I think if you went out there and the greens were good enough and you hit some putts that just didn't go in, I I think you could own that, but it it feels like you know not the case.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, you've not heard me complain before about the greens were bad. I don't think you've ever heard me say of anything I've ever played in, other than one thing where they were literally punched, have I said, Oh, the greens were the issue. This is it almost was like the blade on the mower that they used was dull and it was like picking the grass. I mean, you hit a putt and it bounced all over the place, and they weren't punched, like it was just a weird very weird, bounced all over the place, and they were some of the brakes, it didn't go in a certain direction. Oh, they they had one of the uh greens I got to you talked about it where the uh the guy doing the cups when he puts the new cup in doesn't know how to do it, and there's this like raised piece around uh have one of those like ball going in the center, hits the edge and goes. Um yeah, saw plenty of that. Um that sucks.

SPEAKER_01

But

Public Golf Conditions And Tournament Rage

SPEAKER_01

I'll get off my my rant on well, I thought it was a nice segue because we were talking about bouncing balls, and that's a nice little segue into talking about what's about to commence here in just a few hours, which is the open championship. And it sounds like the balls are going to be bouncing quite well there.

SPEAKER_02

And I hope that that's what we see. As I've told you, uh I know that the open is up there for you, it's number one for you.

SPEAKER_01

I think it's unequivocally number one for me. And I mean, I go to Augusta every year and I love that, but it it's there's something about the open, and I think honestly, and this is a whole other topic. I I think it's the fans, it's so cool. It's like I've been to two of these things. Um, I never and and you know, let's back this up a minute. You know, even when I didn't know anything, and even when I was just a young guy and and whatever, you know, I would still wake up early to watch the open. Like it just always seems so cool. And from and it's not a pity party, but from where I'm coming from, not in a million years did I ever think I would be at one of these things, let alone two of them. Um, and it's just man, you go there, and the people are it's just it's it's a throwback, man, in a lot of ways. Like the fans really understand what's going on. It's not this mashed potato crowd. Um reverence to it. There is, and it's just so cool, and you get to see so many different things that you don't normally see in a in a major championship. The PGA, Augusta National, um, and the open. I mean, take Augusta, it's it's a it's its own thing because they played the same course every year, but it's getting harder and harder to distinguish a PGA from an open. Like they're they're they're kind of kind of the same thing anymore, especially this last one where they decided to make a Ronamank play, you know, very difficult. But you know, the open, you know, you're watching an open. Um, and I just I I think that they do. I think the RNA has a better handle on how to set up an interesting and stern test than the USGA.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah. Certainly more so than the PGA of America.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, they do the worst job. Yeah. I mean, it's it's almost laughable what the PGA does, who are supposed to be the experts of the game. And you look at how they set up these tournaments and it's it's laughable in a lot of ways. You know the US including the Ryder Cup, you know, they what are you doing? You know, you you've got Keegan. Now look, he he was their fall guy. Like let's just call it what it was. Like Keegan was the fall guy for the PGA of America and Keegan and his support staff wanted the course a certain way. Well they didn't they didn't want to do it that way. So they they know better than Keegan and the team. So they kind of went rogue on that a little bit and it cost the Americans dearly. But at the same time it's you know the USGA has gotten a little bit better I'm willing to say in the past couple years with how they present their open championship. But I don't the the RNA does a magical job of it's really the way they set the golf course up is never part of the story. Yeah. You don't hear players in the press conference going bananas. It just is what it is. I think you're going to have a lot of frustrated players this year, but once again, you know, when is it that you're playing one of these these opens and it's browned out because it's been warm and hot and dry like that's yeah that's not typically the weather pattern for them. So I think this is going to be really really interesting and I think it's going to be really cool to see kind of what things look like after the first couple days because you're going to have to really plot your golf ball around Royal Burkdow. It's you you can't play it's not like American golf where if you hit in a fairway bunker you hit in a fairway bunker. Like these things are penal and they're everywhere and you're going to have to be you're just going to see a lot more shock making than we typically see in a major championship.

SPEAKER_02

And I've been on the side of this is my least favorite which I know is probably I know to you it's blasphemy. Probably to a lot of other people it's blasphemy. I know that's not true though because I know if I said let's pick an open or a PGA you're picking an open I think so I think so I've been coming around on them the last couple of years I and it's only because I want the thing to play so differently than any other golf course I see all year. Now I think that that the one we're about to see this weekend I think will play very differently and I want to see creativity. I want to see some shot making um I'm looking forward to that and it sounds like these tweaks that they've made uh could make things interesting and give some guys pause on what they will attempt to do.

SPEAKER_01

I think it's going to be low scoring um just because I think I'm okay with yeah I just I don't think the weather is going to be a factor it doesn't sound like there's really anything in the forecast um I think you're going to see less sweaters than you normally do. Because I do think it's going to be a bit warmer and drier but I I don't think you're going to get car nasty uh in terms of the elements really popping up but I I think it's going to be I think you're going to see some different people on the leaderboard than we're accustomed to seeing. I'm I wouldn't be surprised to see some chalk uh for sure but I I don't think it's going to be oh the proverbial like I could be wrong but I I think that if you were ever a guy that likes to bet dark horses it's kind of a dark horse week I think and it's kind of set up for Brian Harmon again I hate to say yeah yeah and I I think what I don't like about them is the weather aspect that you can get this really terrible weather I love the bad weather and I and that's I know and we differ there because I don't want to see bad weather I don't want to see weather impact anything.

SPEAKER_02

I don't want to see it impact NFL games in January I don't want to see it impact golf tournaments like I want to see the best players this is a key differentiator between us because like I want to watch a a football game of Buffalo where it's a blizzard.

SPEAKER_01

Just yeah not I love seeing I love like of all the things that I would like to do I would love to be at an NFL game where it's just heating it in buckets like snow in buckets. Like I think that would be so cool to be at a snow game.

SPEAKER_02

I mean it would probably be cool to be there I just I and I think it's fine for regular season game. I just don't want to see it when someone's going to go home.

SPEAKER_01

That's fair. That is a fair point.

SPEAKER_02

And the weather is going to play such a factor so I think that's what I don't like about the open is I feel that sometimes the weather plays such a factor I just think it really I want to see like if if you're playing in an open I want the most well rounded person to win an open like I don't I don't like the fact that so many of the US opens are now catering to the bombers and like you have to hit it so far to even be a threat.

SPEAKER_01

Like I I feel like it's very one dimensional golf. Yeah. So I I kind of maybe not I don't want every round to be horrific weather but I really like when one of the rounds it's it's blowing sideways it's raining sideways and like you you find out like where your mutter's at like where the guys that can figure out how to still execute under that like hey it's already stressful. It's a major championship if you're Tommy Fleetwood this is something you've been dreaming of your whole life like it it already means a lot. Okay cool. Well let's throw this other layer on top of it and see what you can do with it. I like that I don't want it all four days but I like it one of the days where it gets nasty.

Why The Open Feels Different

SPEAKER_02

I I don't want it um yeah I don't want it all four days either I'd be okay with one day uh it would have been wild uh we're we're recording this on Wednesday and and Argentina defeated England but can you imagine Sunday and you've got Justin Rose and Fleetwood and um John Rom uh or is Spain already out Spain's still in no Spain's still in I'm I meant English uh golfers oh yeah because you would have had England playing Spain in the World Cup finals that afternoon and then you've got one of your own in England trying to win the open it would have been a wild day wouldn't I disagree I'm I am gonna put something out there that a lot of our listeners probably won't like to hear I am counting down the minutes until the World Cup is done.

SPEAKER_01

I am so tired of it I don't care nothing can make me I I haven't watched a single second of it I I just absolutely can't find anything interesting about soccer I'm not gonna go down that road with you I've already been down that road with you and not that I love soccer but I just think it's so much fun when the US is cheering for one single team and give me the Olympics not soccer I'm not gonna go here with you I've I've actually enjoyed and I'm not a huge soccer person I've I've enjoyed watching it's bananas down here like we came back from the beach and I I guess one of the games was going on either today or yesterday and I mean dude the the hotel is just packed with people just around the TVs watching I mean it's it is a cultural phenomenon for sure uh especially down here with so many people being from somewhere else um it's it's wild but I just I couldn't care less and I hate to say it I mean I want the American team to do as well as they can do and I understand that soccer isn't necessarily our forte but I was just I think I said it to you I was so happy when the Americans bowed out so we could stop pretending like we care about soccer.

SPEAKER_02

And it I don't I don't think that we it's not so much that we care about soccer. I think this country does such a good job of getting behind something and it's so fun when now of course there were some I'll be polite there were some people that decided to to make this a political deal when it shouldn't be it should be just Americans cheering for their country but it is fun when everybody gets to come together and everybody gets to choose I agree which is why I like the Olympics but I just I I don't I don't I and I get it like there's a lot of people that like soccer God bless them.

SPEAKER_01

Good for them I just I'm not one of those people and and honestly like I've just become very one one track like I I like my golf pay attention to golf I don't pay a lot of close attention to the NBA um I probably watched more NBA this year than I ever have just because I'm fascinated with Wimbiyama um I think that's I think that's cool. I think we're seeing something different something we haven't seen and something that's likely to change the game of basketball as we know it. So I always like stuff like that. NFL I find hard to watch anymore not because of anything in particular I just don't like ever since I stopped being a Raiders fan and surrendered my my card uh and said I can't take it anymore. Like now that I don't really have a vested interest in a team it's just it's tough. But you know I I I love golf man and and I've really been watching more women's golf and and I know you love um been watching more women's golf uh been watching more of the stuff that's out I mean I gotta give golf channel credit man like they're listening to people and they're getting more golf on TV which has been cool whether it's college whether it's amateur whether it's live whether it's whatever uh it seems like there's more and more golf to be watched and I'm just way more interested in that and what that looks like than other sports.

SPEAKER_02

Even though they can't figure out how to bring us the stroke play of the USM like a USGA event they can't figure out how to bring us the longest day in golf but they're getting better.

SPEAKER_01

You're right they're getting better it is getting better.

Sports Tangents And More Golf Coverage

SPEAKER_01

I I agree with you I think it's got a long way to go I think there's a lot of stuff that you know they could take advantage of uh and and I think you know we'll see what happens but there's gonna be it's gonna be really interesting to see how it plays out with Brian Rolap and and kind of the changes that he's making with the tour and kind of having a tour A and a tour B and you know where where's the tour B where are those people coming from because I think you're right I I think you know there's obviously people involved with this that are way smarter than I am and it's like you look at the success that full swing has had on Netflix and getting people to invest in these storylines well you know you've got this tour B and you've got guys trying to get to tour A and yeah that's a great storyline but how do people even get to tour B? Where do they come from? And there's an opportunity there to to kind of tap into that full swing if you will and to profile some people who are trying to make it and you know you know of a player that I've worked with uh from Australia and you know nothing's more fun than seeing where he's at and what he's playing in next and what he's doing and you know he's very much under the radar uh is playing in the open championship uh starting tomorrow but it it's it's just like when you have more of those underdog stories that you're kind of attuned with it does it makes it more interesting it makes it more fun and it gives you more reason to tune in which I think is what they're desperately looking for when it comes to golf.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah gotta have more we've talked about it got to have more of who's on the cut line or who's trying to go from tour B to tour A who's trying to get from tour C to tour B. Uh need more of that because there is nothing more dramatic in golf than a cut line or something to get you into something else.

SPEAKER_01

And I think they miss a lot of that stuff. They they do they miss so much of and there's so much opportunity for them like you know the the one thing that I will be critical of is I hate Sunday afternoon coverage of a golf tournament because they just follow the leader. Follow the leader and there's so much downtime and then the announcers or the the the people commentating make stupid remarks because they're trying to fill air uh and it's bad. And it's like well that's cool but like why can't you guys you know keep us apprised of what's happening at the top of the leaderboard but then like find three or four storylines of like hey this guy is looking at having his highest finish ever he's going to finish 17th and that equates to this amount of points and this amount of dollars and this moves him here and gets him into the next event because that stuff to your point is way more interesting than a guy you've seen win five times that year cruise into another win because he's got a five shot lead like that that's really not like everybody that is tuned in is taking a nap because it's not interesting. So find the storylines within the event that are going to be meaningful and going to change things moving forward.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah yeah it needs more storylines needs more dramatic something because you don't always get the dramatics on a Sunday afternoon guy wins by three like back nine he's never really um tested by anybody I mean just it's so anticlimactic um when you can be jumping around and and seeing the stories and seeing the the dramatics that are happening and we don't get any of it.

SPEAKER_01

Like I was sitting around well sitting on the beach uh

Tour Storylines And Better Broadcasts

SPEAKER_01

you know scoreboard watching today and it's just it's so much fun man like it's like I was watching Vivi at the USM final stage qualifier unfortunately missed by two uh kind of heartbreaking in a way but you know it's it's I mean debrief yet yeah we talked on the phone a little bit before we did the podcast he's good um didn't putt all that well and and struggled a little bit with the driver just it's a really I mean they were playing the Scarlet Course at Ohio State very difficult golf course um and he just he just didn't have his game today and and it's it's one of those things to where you know you almost at least in my my position I almost wish he would have missed by like six and just never really had a chance because him missing by two and me being sitting on the beach and not there with him it's it's kind of hard and this is my ego but it's kind of hard not thinking what if I was there is his driver an issue for him is it never so that's goofy.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah and it's hard it's hard when something that you usually don't worry about goes awry because you you don't always have especially in a tournament and things are already moving fast enough you don't always have like the the fix for it or you're you can be unsure of what the fix is or how to get it around. So that that's never fun when the thing that you kind of lean on goes awry. I don't know if you would agree with that but that that I don't I don't disagree at all.

SPEAKER_01

I mean I I think you know if if you're somebody like Vib whose driver is an absolute weapon you know I would I I'll put my I'm talking about myself instead of talking about Vibby but you know I I don't hit it nearly as far as Vibby does but I hit it far enough I hit it you know 285 uh off the T assuming I get some rollout uh if I play somewhere that's got firm fairways but like I hit it far enough but the thing that I do is I hit a ton of fairways is as you've seen when we play golf uh I hit it very very straight so for me it's like I I don't really I don't hit a lot of to be 100% honest I don't practice a ton to begun begin with but I hardly ever practice my driver I'll hit like three or four and see it do what it always does and be like okay cool like put it away I'm good so to your point you know when I do get out there and the driver gets a little squirrely on me this isn't something I deal with on the regular so it is difficult to kind of go well what do I do because I'm generally not in the situation. So I do think it can be hard you know the one thing when we when we get together and we talk a little bit more because we just had a quick phone call because I could tell he was exhausted um when I when I do talk to him I think my question's really going to be well in your practice round you know and and I always wonder about this too you know you're playing an unfamiliar golf course a golf course maybe you've never played before um you know how much time did he spend hitting T-shots and figuring out like hey where do I really need to hit this and one thing that I do agree on and and I agree with a lot I I don't want to make it sound like I don't agree with a lot of it but you know one thing I really agree uh when it comes to Scott Fawcett and Decade is if I had a choice and was playing in something meaningful like a tournament uh I would if if I had to pick between playing a practice round and GPSing and laying out you know where my target lines are and things like that with just like Google Earth, I'm gonna pick GPS every day of the week. And I think that it's really there's so many apps now there's Shot Scope I know we've used that before to kind of go through some holes and talk about some scenarios uh but there's so many apps out there now to where I think it's really helpful if you like best case scenario you do the GPS and you go play a practice round. But I I think you want to do the GPS before and you kind of want to come up with your plan and go, okay, my practice round I'm gonna execute this plan. And then it's like okay we can adjust based off what we see when we get on the ground. And I just I sometimes wonder about Vivi and and all the players that I work with for that matter it's like hey what are you doing in the practice round like are you really picking good targets and I I've I'm not gonna throw Vivi under the bus because he's certainly not the only one but a lot of times like yeah I hit I hit driver here in the practice round I'm hitting driver today. And I'm like well where was the wind in the practice round right like where was the actual T box we played from in the practice like I really think you want to have a a book full of numbers and like hey I can hit it on this line this far. I can hit it on this line this far. And like the the thing that I think is really nice is that the books they make for the guys on tour, they actually have a picture of like what you're looking at standing on the T. And then you can kind of mark like hey I'm aiming here hey I'm aiming here or on this line I have 285 on this line I have 305 and you can really kind of dial in what you need to be doing. But I I think a lot of it comes down to prep work for these things and and how well you know you can put together a plan and then how quickly can you get comfortable enough to execute that plan. So I think that'll probably be the conversation between us because I definitely think as he continues to play in these bigger events on these harder golf courses, you know, the prep work is really what makes a difference I think.

SPEAKER_02

I was doing some GPSing today of a a course that I need to be ready for on Monday and it does make and I won't be playing a practice round there. I've played there enough um I'm just not gonna take the time to go out there and it's about 45 minutes away. But I was just GPSing to refresh and it it does make a huge difference when you can see it bird's eye view measure it to know okay I really do have the the area here I need or okay that really is the line um when you've got some some data points there that are telling you what the distance is rather than if you just played a practice round like you said you just kind of hit something and yeah I think that's it. But is that really It um because it it's all if you can get comfortable, it's so much tournament golf, especially, is so can you get comfortable? Can you get comfortable with the line you've picked and like how how free can you swing and how comfortable can you get, you know, hitting into a green to a certain pin and knowing like, all right, well, this is for sure the miss, or that's the side to be on. It's it's so different when you you have a comfort level to what you're doing.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, and I think a lot of people, you know, we've had this conversation when we were talking about handicaps and whatnot, but if you play the same golf course all the time, you know, whether you're thinking about it actively, consciously, or subconsciously, it's like you know that the left side is death. You know that there's some water down there that you can't see, or there's a creek, or there's something, and you're like, I just know. And it's like you just can't help it. You just block shot after shot on that approach shot because you know that that's where death is. And then when you get out there and you're playing an unfamiliar course in a tournament, it's you don't know that. And now all of a sudden, you know, these things sneak up and bite you that otherwise you wouldn't have. So, you know, one thing that I've I've heard about Aaron Rye, because he's certainly got a lot of attention since winning uh the PGA, but Aaron Rye, you know, he's out there for six, seven hours in a practice round. And it's it's not that he's out there screwing off and you know, whatever. He's just, you know, hitting shots from everywhere around the greens, hitting multiple shots off the T, you know, playing some different shots into the green to see what holds versus what doesn't hold. Uh, and he is just really very serious about studying for the test and making sure that he knows what he needs to be able to do in that tournament round. And and I once again, it's you know, you hear about Matt Fitzpatrick and the lengths he goes through with his analysis of things. And and there's a reason these guys who maybe aren't the most athletically gifted guys out there, there's a reason these guys are competing week in and week out. It's they really put the time in, they're really prepared, and that allows them to get comfortable maybe and adjust maybe a little quicker uh than some of the other guys that it takes them two or three rounds to kind of get it going. I think it's biting Scotty Scheffler in the butt a little bit right now. Like he's notoriously not leaving Dallas until he has to, because Scotty loves being a family man. He's got two kids at home, he really enjoys that. And we've seen this year in particular, Thursdays are not great for him. But by the time we get to Saturday, Sunday and he's figured out this golf course, watch out because here comes Scotty. So I think there's a lot to you know, that work ethic and doing your homework and getting as ready and as prepared as you can be for the test.

Tournament Prep With GPS Planning

SPEAKER_02

Um I liked what Brandle Chambly, I love live. We've talked about this. I love live from the week of a major. And I don't love everything that Brandle says, but he sometimes has some good stuff. He had uh that he was talking about this Scotty. Um that's not where I thought you were going with that. Oh, this Scotty conundrum that we're in, and he said he he is the man to beat, but he is no longer the man that can't be beat. And um it is interesting. Yeah, it's well said. And it is interesting that um the different feel of these majors that he is not uh as dominant as he has been.

SPEAKER_01

Um I think that's uh I don't think that's gonna change this week either.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, I don't think he's gonna be dominant this week. I don't I don't and I don't know that his I mean you would know better than me.

SPEAKER_03

I don't Do you think he's controlling his golf ball well enough to be successful this week?

SPEAKER_01

I I think the the biggest advantage that Scotty has is that Ted Scott is an expert plotter of a golf course. And I think Ted will have a very good plan for Scotty this week. I just but once again, the the one thing that typically you get is you typically get wind and or weather. And I haven't seen what they're predicting wind-wise, but if it doesn't blow, it could be Scotty's week. But generally speaking, the high ball hitters, which Scotty is the king of, don't fare as well in opens. Yeah, um, it typically requires a little more of a ground game. And the one thing that I I haven't seen Scotty do as well this year, and I don't have the stats. Once again, we're still looking for a producer, so anybody that would like to be a producer on this show, please send us your resume. But it it seems to me like he gets in those 70 yards and end situations, and I've seen him make quite a few, or I've seen him make more mistakes this year than I've ever seen him make before. So I I don't know that his creativity and his control around the greens is exactly where it needs to be to maybe compete for this open. I'm sure he'll be part, and look, I could be dead wrong, and he could just go out there and blitz the field and go, hey, I'm Scotty Scheffler, I'm back. Uh, but traditionally we haven't seen high ball hitters really do all that well in opens. And I was reading um reading some comments by Brandle as well, and he just absolutely ripped Bryson apart and basically called him an idiot. And so I did see that too, yeah. Yeah, that's where I thought you were going with this. Um and and I I think he's I I'm not one to say that I think Brando was right all the time, but I think he's absolutely right when it comes to Bryce. Bryce is just convinced that if I hit it far enough, I have an advantage. And that that strategy definitely does not lend itself to Lynx Golf. And, you know, I I think Lynx Golf really requires you to try to play the hole the way it's intended to be played. Because I I think Lynx Golf is very fair in a way to where if you do what the course is asking you to do, or you do what the architect is asking you to do, it's very doable. But the minute that you go off script and you try to try to cover something or you try to you know cut something off, or you you try these different things, then all of a sudden Lynx Golf really has a way of punishing you for that. So I I think it'll be interesting to see if Bryson can figure out a way to make a cut. Uh, I think it's it's very interesting that Bryson, I don't think he's made a cut in a major this year. Um, if I'm getting that right, I think I am. But I think you're right.

SPEAKER_02

I am good about that, but I think you're right.

SPEAKER_01

I I don't think he's made a cut in a major this year. You know, I think for the pressure that's on Scotty to live up to his greatness, I think there's more pressure on Bryson to make a freaking cut in one of these things. Um, and and maybe this is the evolution of Bryson turning into the YouTube golfer who can't make a cut, and we all worship because some other reasons other than his ability to play high-level golf. But yeah, I mean, I think there's a lot of interesting storylines. Um, Justin Rose, you know, one of my all-time favorites. Uh, he's got some history here at Burkdale, uh, finishing fourth when he was 17 years old. You know, it would be kind of cool to see him, you know, pay this thing off. Tommy Fleetwood's getting a ton of a ton of press this week, being from the area, sneaking on the golf course with his dad. Uh, read a lot about those stories. But the one that I think could be interesting, and and I think he could potentially go out there and dominate this thing and been playing unbelievably well lately, is none other than England's own Matt Fitzpatrick.

SPEAKER_02

I've picked him in a pool of mine.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, I think I think Maddie Maddie could be dangerous this week, man. And and I I do. I I think I think that there's a lot of things. I always am interested, like when I was at the Ryder Cup at Beth Page, it's like I I was talking to Aram, who was with me, and I was like, you know, it's always cool to come to these things because these things can really catapult a player, these things can really help them understand, like, wait a minute, I am good enough. Like, I'm meant to be here. And I I think that that's really come true. Uh, if you think back, you had um Cam Cam Young and Justin Rose duel it out on Sunday at the Ryder Cup with Cam making that putt on 18 to beat Justin. Um, I feel like that's really catapulted Cam into this new place to where he's one of the top guys on tour now. Um, but you also saw Matt Fitzpatrick go out there, he only got the half a point with Bryson. But I think he was six or seven up on Bryson through the first like eight holes or something like that. So, you know, I think that the Ryder Cup atmosphere is going to be in play. And I think that the Europeans really are affected more by the crowd than the Americans. I think the Americans are kind of used to lone wolfing it, and it's me against the world, and and this is what I do, and this is how they approach it. But dude, when it comes to the English voice, the the crowd will be behind them. They'll kind of have the wind at their cells. And Matt's been on a heater lately, and I wouldn't be surprised to see Matt do very, very well. And I think it'd be absolutely awesome if Tommy could could find a way to this is where he gets his major. And excuse me, that would be a really cool storyline, not dissimilar from Shane Lowry winning winning his open in Ireland. You know, this this these storylines can't really be written, but they do get written, um, or they do get wrote, I should say. And I I think it it it could be Tommy's time, which would be, you know, who who would be upset with Tommy Fleetwood winning an open championship.

SPEAKER_02

Everybody loves Tommy Fleetwood.

SPEAKER_01

He's

Picks, Plotting, And Links Reality Checks

SPEAKER_01

such a favorite, fan favorite. I think Justin Rose getting some redemption for a couple masters near calls, and like there's a lot of cool storylines, man, that that involve the English guys, and we just I don't think we pay nearly as much attention to that stuff because as American, as Americans and American golf fans, you know, we're just kind of used to pick whoever you want because the tour is mostly comprised of Americans. But I think it that I think it's one of those other things that I really like about the open is seeing how the you you were talking about how Americans get behind something. Well, wait till you see how the English get behind their own, man. Like they are they are gonna be all over this thing.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah. Yeah, they do. They'll they'll be out, they'll be what were they they predicted this crowd size. They were expecting the most the most people ever to view a British, I think is what I saw the other night.

SPEAKER_01

I believe it. Um it's become big business, man. Yeah, like these opens used to be, you know, I I've only been to a few of them. The first one I went to was 150th at St. Andrews. So, you know, who doesn't want to be at that? So that was like a big event. But from what I have heard from others, you know, the the opens generally used to be kind of like a a P like a normal PGA tour event. But man, they they've really the RNA has invested in this. There's a lot of money to be made. Um they've they've really kind of rolled out the red carpet. And I I think there will be. There'll be a lot of people. Uh it'll be interesting to see if you kind of get an Englishman and an American in the final group on Sunday. I think that's got potential for some fireworks. Um, I think I think it could be great, man. I and I just it's gonna be a tall order, you know, if it if it does, and I hate this, but you know, Tommy hasn't been the best closer when it comes to finishing things off, man. And if he gets to the back nine on Sunday near the lead, it's gonna feel big because it is gonna be big. And same for Justin Rose, same for Matt Fitzpatrick. Like, you know, as much advantage as you get having the crowd behind you, I also think it kind of works the other way against you a little bit coming down the stretch of one of these things, and you see everybody kind of like you're you are their hope and dream.

SPEAKER_02

Like everybody wants it so badly, yeah.

SPEAKER_01

For you, and and and they're with you, but that's a lot of pressure. It's a lot of pressure, man. When you're walking down the fairways and you start seeing the little kids cry because you just made a double bogey, like that's that's a toughie.

SPEAKER_02

I just I hope we get a good one. I hope there's some drama. Um I think it's gonna be different. I think it's gonna be really cool. I keep I keep hoping that at some point we're gonna get a couple of guys that hit their stride at the same time, and we get these natural rivalries. I thought we were about to have it with Rory and Bryson. Bryson's fallen away. Um that's the one thing I I'm I struggle with with with professional golf is I wish there were some heroes and some villains, and I wish that we had some rivalries, and I wish that we had people that did not like each other.

SPEAKER_01

And and I'm I know that's out there, but it It's not though. I mean, I I think it's what makes sports great. Like you you want that that competitiveness. You want, you know, it's it's just way easier for people to buy into good guys versus bad guys. You know, NASCAR, um, really switching gears, NASCAR really had a golden age, man, when you had Jeff Gordon and you had Del Earnhardt, who were kind of polar opposites, right? But they they hate like well known, didn't like one another and would wreck one another given the chance to do so. And people tuned in to see that, right? And you know, NASCAR really went corporate, and you know, now all the guys kind of sound the same, and they thank their sponsors and their buddies off the track and stuff like that. And it's it's really hurt NASCAR a lot that you don't have those rivalries anymore. And and I don't think golf has really ever had them, to be perfectly honest. Like they they build up these things in in the history of golf, and you know, Arnie and Jack and Jack and and and all these different guys, but like it's to your point, man. Like you you have one or two guys that are kind of hot for a little bit, and and maybe they trade some barbs, but you haven't really seen you know this duel like you're talking about. Tiger never had one. You know, people keep trying to make tiger and phil out to be. It was never like it was so rare when both Phil and Tiger were playing well, like Tiger, like, and not only that, but for 10 years, Tiger just dominated and it didn't matter. Like it didn't matter who was playing well, like he didn't have a beach. Yeah, he didn't have a rival. So to your point, you know, I I think it would be good, but I I don't think that the the sport itself really sets up for that, which sucks because I I do think it would be better. But you also need people who are willing to go out on a limb. You know, probably the closest thing we've seen to an actual rivalry, rivalry in a while was probably when pre-Live when Bryson and and Brooks were kind of feuding and going at it a bit. Uh, but I also think that a lot of that was you know, two guys who are really good at marketing realizing like, hey, this is something we can tap into and make some money with. Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Well, I hope it's a good one. Uh I hope the golf course shows well. We've not we didn't have that with the US Open where the golf course showed all that well. It was fine, it wasn't great.

SPEAKER_01

Um I don't think it'll show. Like, that's one thing that I would agree with you is that open golf is a really I think it's a tough watch on TV. I mean it doesn't it doesn't look great on TV. Uh and I'm okay with the brown.

SPEAKER_02

I no, not just the brown, it it's just it's it's it doesn't like on a it doesn't frame things very well. No, nothing, no hole is framed very well.

SPEAKER_01

Um it's easy, like if we're if we're watching a Rana make, it's like, oh, that's fairway, that's rough. Like it's very easy to tell. But when you start playing open golf, it's it just all kind of looks the same, tends to be very flat ground. And like you said, there's no real nat, there's not a lot of trees. So like there's not a lot of framing, and it's just really hard to tell kind of where guys are hitting it, or and and everything gets so flat, uh, because TV flattens things out to begin with. But when you're talking about something already like Augusta looks kind of flat on TV, which is crazy if you've ever been there. So you take a something that's already pretty flat, and then it just gets double flat and it looks like they're playing in a brown parking lot. Right. Yeah, yeah. Which is a shame because the golf courses are really cool over there, it's just it doesn't look that great on TV. Doesn't, yeah. I just gorgeous. You just would never know it watching on TV. I've played it myself. It's absolutely beautiful. You just wouldn't know it.

SPEAKER_02

I I just want it, I just want the golf course to play like everyone hopes that it'll play. So when I say show, that's what I'm kind of mean, is that it that it plays the way it's supposed to play. Um and that it's unique. I hope it's unique. I hope, I hope we get

Rivalries, TV Aesthetics, And Final Takeaways

SPEAKER_02

that.

SPEAKER_01

And um I've watched zero TV this week. Uh that's one of my rules on vacation. Is I watch, I take that back. I watched the final, I've been re-watching The Sopranos, as you know. Uh, and I had two episodes to go, and I watched the last two episodes the other night. So technically that was on my laptop and not on a TV. Um, but with that being said, I've I've read some of the press, I've seen some of the Instagram videos, and it it does seem like these guys are a little nervous that this golf course could be waiting for them when they tee it up here in a couple hours.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, I want to see guys have to land things short of greens and because that's unique. I think that's unique. We don't see that a lot. That's what I want to see. I want to see unique golf.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, and Burkdale doesn't have a lot of gimmicks. So I mean it it it's either gonna be a really good test of golf or I think it's gonna get blown out of the water. But um, I think it could, like you said, I I think with it being as firm and fast as they're predicting, we could see some of that happen to lay up short and and really having to play more strategic golf versus target golf. Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Well, I don't know if we really helped anybody with their golf game on this episode.

SPEAKER_01

Uh we gave them a lot to think about. If you're looking for help with your golf game, go back to the previous episode. And I I promise you, like, give it a listen again because I look, I've I've taken Chuck's challenge to heart. I'm having this conversation every lesson, and people start out with a yeah, I know, I know, I get that, I get that. And then I'm like, hang on, do you really? Yeah, and then we start talking about it. They're like, wait a minute, I I don't get that. And it's like, it's it seems like it may like it seems obvious when you first say it, like that's the target line, not the actual, or I'm sorry, that's the aim line, not the target line. That seems like it should make, but dude, you watch people and they just absolutely they can't separate the two, and and maybe it's just a lack of awareness or or what have you, but I'm convinced it's it's hurting way more golfers uh than their golf swings are hurting them.

SPEAKER_02

Should absolutely it it's been a game changer to me. It's been a game changer to many of the guys that I'm friends with that listen to the show that have also gotten to work with Michael. Um the best analogy of it being the one that you used of when you are reading a putt and you would never have a ball that didn't start on your intended line and then work towards the cup from there. Like if it that's what it would do, it would never work away from your intended line.

SPEAKER_01

Like if the putt breaks four inches to the left, you're never gonna aim the putter at the hole and try to push it out four inches right. Yeah. Like why why would you do that? That doesn't make any sense. Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

So go listen to that. It is Is the most insightful. It really brings the decade full decade target choosing process full circle. And now you have both pieces to it. Because you're right. He does not explain the piece about how to fire the gun. He talks to about where we're looking down range, but not how to fire it and where to fire it and how to let that target selection come into process or come into um uh come into the process of everything you're trying to do.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, I mean it's just we don't hit straight shots, or yeah, we don't hit straight shots. Um I mean I hit it really straight, and I'm not saying I'm the best golfer ever, and I'm not trying to use myself as a as the example, but I hit a lot of shots that don't move. You've played golf with me and seen that and commented on that yourself. Um, but they still do move, and hopefully they're moving consistently so that I can have an easier time of picking targets myself. So, you know, I I think at the end of the day, instead of trying to work against physics and get the ball to stop curving, I think it's better just to accept that the ball is going to curve, try to get it to curve one direction, understand the percentage that it's going to curve, and then build that into your strategy. But, you know, I I just think that so many people kind of grew up with John Daly grip it and rip it. And, you know, I hear it all the time grip, aim, posture, you know, all those are the basics, those are the fundamentals. No, that's kind of everything.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Like it it really is. Like you the the golf swing itself is really predicated on your mobility and the length of your joint segments. Yeah. Um, it's not something that you you get to choose or override those things with. So I think if you can can really understand grip, aim and alignment, and you can understand how they kind of, you know, and I I would replace grip with shoulders, but that's a conversation for another time. But once you kind of understand that, it's like there's no reason people are stuck being 15 and 20 handicappers. Like they should be able to get better and get down to single digits. It's it's just not it's not that hard unless you're not playing the game very intelligently.

SPEAKER_02

So get the get the face on the aim line and just swing away and know what your path does. Makes things a lot easier.

SPEAKER_01

A lot easier. So yeah, well, I think that probably is gonna wrap it up to your point. I don't know that we helped anybody's golf game today, but hopefully we're entertaining enough and and gave people some stuff to think about. Um, and like we said, you know, I definitely think I think we're on to something with how we aim the golf ball. And I'm glad we did that topic last time on the podcast. I have not gotten around to doing a content piece on it, but I do plan to do that when I get back to Michigan uh later this week, hopefully get something up in the next couple weeks. But we are for sure uh still wanting to help as many people as we can with their golf game.
