The Khalis Podcast

11 - L-Fresh The Lion - Hip Hop and Sikh Identity

Khalis House Publishing Season 2 Episode 1

The Khalis Podcast is back with Season 2 and to kick start this season, I'm joined by the amazing Hip Hop artist L-Fresh The Lion. In this episode we speak about his new album, South West, as well as his journey into music, Sikh identity and culture, inspiration and future aspirations.

With this podcast we aim to provide a platform for aspiring and established, writers, poets and artists who are passionate about preserving and furthering Sikh and Panjabi identity, and culture.

Khalis - خالص , is a versatile word. As well as meaning "pure" in Arabic and Sanskrit, the term, in a Persian context, means "free" or "independent". This idea of independence forms an integral part of Khalis House Publishing, and with this podcast series we aim to supplement our publication work with meaningful discussion on history, ideology, philosophy, culture and the identity that shapes who were are today, as Sikhs in the 21st century.
