But"},{"speaker":"Gina Nelson","startTime":550.78,"endTime":554.59,"body":"when we look at severe anxiety,"},{"speaker":"Gina Nelson","startTime":550.78,"endTime":554.59,"body":"you're looking at things like"},{"speaker":"Gina Nelson","startTime":554.59,"endTime":558.97,"body":"generalised anxiety, or panic"},{"speaker":"Gina Nelson","startTime":554.59,"endTime":558.97,"body":"attacks that the teens are"},{"speaker":"Gina Nelson","startTime":558.97,"endTime":562.78,"body":"having. And that's something a"},{"speaker":"Gina Nelson","startTime":558.97,"endTime":562.78,"body":"lot more significant than just"},{"speaker":"Gina Nelson","startTime":562.78,"endTime":567.4,"body":"kind of that buzzing of that"},{"speaker":"Gina Nelson","startTime":562.78,"endTime":567.4,"body":"anxiousness or high intensity."},{"speaker":"Gina Nelson","startTime":567.76,"endTime":570.7,"body":"And so the severe anxiety is"},{"speaker":"Gina Nelson","startTime":567.76,"endTime":570.7,"body":"usually when you look at"},{"speaker":"Gina Nelson","startTime":570.7,"endTime":573.4,"body":"something like general anxiety,"},{"speaker":"Gina Nelson","startTime":570.7,"endTime":573.4,"body":"you're looking at somebody who's"},{"speaker":"Gina Nelson","startTime":573.43,"endTime":577.09,"body":"preseparating, who's not"},{"speaker":"Gina Nelson","startTime":573.43,"endTime":577.09,"body":"sleeping, who has this constant"},{"speaker":"Gina Nelson","startTime":577.09,"endTime":580.75,"body":"worry about something that"},{"speaker":"Gina Nelson","startTime":577.09,"endTime":580.75,"body":"hasn't happened yet. Fear of"},{"speaker":"Gina Nelson","startTime":580.75,"endTime":584.53,"body":"failure can really all be"},{"speaker":"Gina Nelson","startTime":580.75,"endTime":584.53,"body":"compounded with that, and"},{"speaker":"Gina Nelson","startTime":584.53,"endTime":588.55,"body":"they're irritable and sensitive."},{"speaker":"Gina Nelson","startTime":584.53,"endTime":588.55,"body":"And so to actually even have a"},{"speaker":"Gina Nelson","startTime":588.55,"endTime":591.58,"body":"diagnosis of something like"},{"speaker":"Gina Nelson","startTime":588.55,"endTime":591.58,"body":"general anxiety, those symptoms"},{"speaker":"Gina Nelson","startTime":591.58,"endTime":595.15,"body":"really need to be going on for"},{"speaker":"Gina Nelson","startTime":591.58,"endTime":595.15,"body":"greater than six months. So a"},{"speaker":"Gina Nelson","startTime":595.15,"endTime":597.85,"body":"lot of our teens are maybe not"},{"speaker":"Gina Nelson","startTime":595.15,"endTime":597.85,"body":"going to get a complete"},{"speaker":"Gina Nelson","startTime":597.85,"endTime":600.6700000000001,"body":"diagnosis, they're going to be"},{"speaker":"Gina Nelson","startTime":597.85,"endTime":600.6700000000001,"body":"somewhere in the grey of"},{"speaker":"Gina Nelson","startTime":600.6700000000001,"endTime":604.78,"body":"anxiousness. And it doesn't matter what"},{"speaker":"Gina Nelson","startTime":648.25,"endTime":651.01,"body":"they do, they can't get out of"},{"speaker":"Gina Nelson","startTime":651.01,"endTime":655.09,"body":"that fear that something bad's"},{"speaker":"Gina Nelson","startTime":651.01,"endTime":655.09,"body":"going to happen. And so what often"},{"speaker":"Gina Nelson","startTime":1332.1799999999998,"endTime":1335.6899999999998,"body":"happens is that say I'm a teen"},{"speaker":"Gina Nelson","startTime":1332.1799999999998,"endTime":1335.6899999999998,"body":"and I go to school, and I show"},{"speaker":"Gina Nelson","startTime":1335.6899999999998,"endTime":1338.6,"body":"up in a group and all of my"},{"speaker":"Gina Nelson","startTime":1335.6899999999998,"endTime":1338.6,"body":"friends get quiet, when I walk"},{"speaker":"Gina Nelson","startTime":1338.6,"endTime":1341.4499999999998,"body":"into that group, my nervous"},{"speaker":"Gina Nelson","startTime":1338.6,"endTime":1341.4499999999998,"body":"system, all of a sudden has to"},{"speaker":"Gina Nelson","startTime":1341.4499999999998,"endTime":1344.06,"body":"make up a story about Oh,"},{"speaker":"Gina Nelson","startTime":1341.4499999999998,"endTime":1344.06,"body":"they've got to be talking about"},{"speaker":"Gina Nelson","startTime":1344.06,"endTime":1348.3799999999999,"body":"me. And so my body goes into"},{"speaker":"Gina Nelson","startTime":1344.06,"endTime":1348.3799999999999,"body":"fight and flight in that anxious"},{"speaker":"Gina Nelson","startTime":1348.4699999999998,"endTime":1351.4399999999998,"body":"and all of the, you know, the"},{"speaker":"Gina Nelson","startTime":1348.4699999999998,"endTime":1351.4399999999998,"body":"hormones and everything start"},{"speaker":"Gina Nelson","startTime":1351.4399999999998,"endTime":1354.9499999999998,"body":"flying, and I'm in the state"},{"speaker":"Gina Nelson","startTime":1351.4399999999998,"endTime":1354.9499999999998,"body":"because now I've made up a story"},{"speaker":"Gina Nelson","startTime":1354.98,"endTime":1357.74,"body":"that goes with that nervous"},{"speaker":"Gina Nelson","startTime":1354.98,"endTime":1357.74,"body":"system state. Something"},{"speaker":"Gina Nelson","startTime":1371.6899999999998,"endTime":1375.26,"body":"happens like walking into that"},{"speaker":"Gina Nelson","startTime":1375.26,"endTime":1379.4299999999998,"body":"group and thinking my friends"},{"speaker":"Gina Nelson","startTime":1375.26,"endTime":1379.4299999999998,"body":"don't like me, and my nervous"},{"speaker":"Gina Nelson","startTime":1379.4299999999998,"endTime":1382.73,"body":"system pulls me into the middle"},{"speaker":"Gina Nelson","startTime":1379.4299999999998,"endTime":1382.73,"body":"of this ladder, where I go into"},{"speaker":"Gina Nelson","startTime":1382.73,"endTime":1385.55,"body":"fight and flight when we're in"},{"speaker":"Gina Nelson","startTime":1382.73,"endTime":1385.55,"body":"that fight and flight, we have"},{"speaker":"Gina Nelson","startTime":1385.55,"endTime":1389.6299999999999,"body":"two choices, we have to one"},{"speaker":"Gina Nelson","startTime":1385.55,"endTime":1389.6299999999999,"body":"first recognise where we are, we"},{"speaker":"Gina Nelson","startTime":1389.6299999999999,"endTime":1392.24,"body":"have to know what we're feeling"},{"speaker":"Gina Nelson","startTime":1389.6299999999999,"endTime":1392.24,"body":"in our body. Right? She was"},{"speaker":"Gina Nelson","startTime":1851.4299999999998,"endTime":1854.6399999999999,"body":"really high achievement, but"},{"speaker":"Gina Nelson","startTime":1851.4299999999998,"endTime":1854.6399999999999,"body":"that sense of when she didn't"},{"speaker":"Gina Nelson","startTime":1854.6399999999999,"endTime":1857.6699999999998,"body":"get 100, she'd say, I'm a"},{"speaker":"Gina Nelson","startTime":1854.6399999999999,"endTime":1857.6699999999998,"body":"failure. And if I'm a failure,"},{"speaker":"Gina Nelson","startTime":1857.6999999999998,"endTime":1859.8,"body":"I'm never gonna go to college."},{"speaker":"Gina Nelson","startTime":1857.6999999999998,"endTime":1859.8,"body":"And I'm never going to do this."},{"speaker":"Gina Nelson","startTime":1859.8,"endTime":1863.1299999999999,"body":"And it just became this huge"},{"speaker":"Gina Nelson","startTime":1859.8,"endTime":1863.1299999999999,"body":"spiral of what we call that"},{"speaker":"Gina Nelson","startTime":1863.1299999999999,"endTime":1866.01,"body":"obsession or that poor"},{"speaker":"Gina Nelson","startTime":1863.1299999999999,"endTime":1866.01,"body":"separation. And so being able to"},{"speaker":"Gina Nelson","startTime":1866.01,"endTime":1869.2199999999998,"body":"go wait a minute, where are you"},{"speaker":"Gina Nelson","startTime":1866.01,"endTime":1869.2199999999998,"body":"call it out? And so then she"},{"speaker":"Gina Nelson","startTime":1869.2199999999998,"endTime":1872.07,"body":"could say, oh, I'm down here or"},{"speaker":"Gina Nelson","startTime":1869.2199999999998,"endTime":1872.07,"body":"no, I'm here. And I said, Okay,"},{"speaker":"Gina Nelson","startTime":1872.07,"endTime":1873.99,"body":"what do you tell yourself when"},{"speaker":"Gina Nelson","startTime":1872.07,"endTime":1873.99,"body":"you're up here, and so she"},{"speaker":"Gina Nelson","startTime":1873.99,"endTime":1876.78,"body":"learned to walk through all"},{"speaker":"Gina Nelson","startTime":1873.99,"endTime":1876.78,"body":"those steps. She learned that some"},{"speaker":"Gina Nelson","startTime":1879.3,"endTime":1883.5,"body":"of their coping mechanisms, some"},{"speaker":"Gina Nelson","startTime":1883.5,"endTime":1887.9399999999998,"body":"of mom's inability to get"},{"speaker":"Gina Nelson","startTime":1883.5,"endTime":1887.9399999999998,"body":"vulnerable mom's discomfort with"},{"speaker":"Gina Nelson","startTime":1887.9399999999998,"endTime":1890.4599999999998,"body":"emotion, put mom in a fix it"},{"speaker":"Gina Nelson","startTime":1887.9399999999998,"endTime":1890.4599999999998,"body":"mode all the time, which"},{"speaker":"Gina Nelson","startTime":1890.4599999999998,"endTime":1894.6299999999999,"body":"actually cause more anxiety for"},{"speaker":"Gina Nelson","startTime":1890.4599999999998,"endTime":1894.6299999999999,"body":"my team. And so part of this is,"},{"speaker":"Gina Nelson","startTime":1894.6299999999999,"endTime":1897.7199999999998,"body":"as she, you know, became ready"},{"speaker":"Gina Nelson","startTime":1894.6299999999999,"endTime":1897.7199999999998,"body":"to go off to college, it was"},{"speaker":"Gina Nelson","startTime":1897.7199999999998,"endTime":1900.24,"body":"okay, now you get to be an"},{"speaker":"Gina Nelson","startTime":1897.7199999999998,"endTime":1900.24,"body":"adult, you start to kind of"},{"speaker":"Gina Nelson","startTime":1900.24,"endTime":1903.3899999999999,"body":"figure out who are you, outside"},{"speaker":"Gina Nelson","startTime":1900.24,"endTime":1903.3899999999999,"body":"of your parents? And then"},{"speaker":"Simon Currigan","startTime":1915.6899999999998,"endTime":1918.36,"body":"finally, certainly in that, that"},{"speaker":"Simon Currigan","startTime":1917.8799999999999,"endTime":1945.4199999999998,"body":"wrong, and the story that she"},{"speaker":"Simon Currigan","startTime":1917.8799999999999,"endTime":1945.4199999999998,"body":"was telling herself was wrong."},{"speaker":"Simon Currigan","startTime":1918.36,"endTime":1921.6899999999998,"body":"last stage, it's learning that"},{"speaker":"Simon Currigan","startTime":1918.36,"endTime":1921.6899999999998,"body":"situations don't cause your"},{"speaker":"Simon Currigan","startTime":1921.6899999999998,"endTime":1925.35,"body":"happiness. We can't live in"},{"speaker":"Simon Currigan","startTime":1921.6899999999998,"endTime":1925.35,"body":"blame and, you know, put the"},{"speaker":"Simon Currigan","startTime":1925.35,"endTime":1928.05,"body":"responsibility on other people,"},{"speaker":"Simon Currigan","startTime":1925.35,"endTime":1928.05,"body":"we own our own happiness and our"},{"speaker":"Simon Currigan","startTime":1928.05,"endTime":1930.75,"body":"own authenticity, and how do we"},{"speaker":"Simon Currigan","startTime":1928.05,"endTime":1930.75,"body":"move forward there?
