People"},{"startTime":371.12,"endTime":374.63,"body":"also bring their own life"},{"startTime":374.63,"endTime":378.43999999999994,"body":"experiences to the table two. I"},{"startTime":374.63,"endTime":378.43999999999994,"body":"worked with a newly qualified"},{"startTime":378.43999999999994,"endTime":381.89,"body":"teacher years ago who was"},{"startTime":378.43999999999994,"endTime":381.89,"body":"actually brilliant at managing"},{"startTime":381.89,"endTime":385.85,"body":"pupils with autism. She admitted"},{"startTime":381.89,"endTime":385.85,"body":"that although she'd had very"},{"startTime":385.85,"endTime":388.58000000000004,"body":"little training about autism"},{"startTime":385.85,"endTime":388.58000000000004,"body":"them on her teacher training"},{"startTime":388.58000000000004,"endTime":392.57000000000005,"body":"course, she actually has an"},{"startTime":388.58000000000004,"endTime":392.57000000000005,"body":"autistic brother. So she'd grown"},{"startTime":392.57000000000005,"endTime":395.68999999999994,"body":"up living her whole life with"},{"startTime":392.57000000000005,"endTime":395.68999999999994,"body":"autism and learning how to"},{"startTime":395.68999999999994,"endTime":399.91999999999996,"body":"accommodate her brother's needs."},{"startTime":395.68999999999994,"endTime":399.91999999999996,"body":"Conversely, for newly qualified"},{"startTime":399.91999999999996,"endTime":403.42999999999995,"body":"teachers, a survey of initial"},{"startTime":399.91999999999996,"endTime":403.42999999999995,"body":"teacher training students"},{"startTime":403.42999999999995,"endTime":407.39,"body":"published by the UK Government"},{"startTime":403.42999999999995,"endTime":407.39,"body":"revealed that more than two"},{"startTime":407.39,"endTime":412.58000000000004,"body":"fifths 41% of teachers rated"},{"startTime":407.39,"endTime":412.58000000000004,"body":"their initial teacher training"},{"startTime":412.61,"endTime":417.86,"body":"in managing behaviour as poor or"},{"startTime":412.61,"endTime":417.86,"body":"very poor. Many of the schools"},{"startTime":417.86,"endTime":421.07000000000005,"body":"that we work with ask us how"},{"startTime":417.86,"endTime":421.07000000000005,"body":"they can support their newly"},{"startTime":421.07000000000005,"endTime":425.24,"body":"qualified teachers. So don't"},{"startTime":421.07000000000005,"endTime":425.24,"body":"assume also that just because a"},{"startTime":425.24,"endTime":428.21000000000004,"body":"teacher is very experienced,"},{"startTime":425.24,"endTime":428.21000000000004,"body":"that they will be very"},{"startTime":428.21000000000004,"endTime":431.6,"body":"knowledgeable about managing"},{"startTime":428.21000000000004,"endTime":431.6,"body":"pupils with behavioural special"},{"startTime":431.6,"endTime":434.96000000000004,"body":"needs, that simply isn't always"},{"startTime":431.6,"endTime":434.96000000000004,"body":"the case."},{"startTime":435.04999999999995,"endTime":437.99,"body":"We also need to think about"},{"startTime":435.04999999999995,"endTime":437.99,"body":"staff turnover, you know, how"},{"startTime":437.99,"endTime":442.13,"body":"many people have left year on"},{"startTime":437.99,"endTime":442.13,"body":"year, we can't assume that just"},{"startTime":442.13,"endTime":445.18999999999994,"body":"because we had training on"},{"startTime":442.13,"endTime":445.18999999999994,"body":"autism three years ago, that"},{"startTime":445.18999999999994,"endTime":448.37,"body":"that knowledge is still present"},{"startTime":445.18999999999994,"endTime":448.37,"body":"within our staff, people leave"},{"startTime":448.58000000000004,"endTime":452.36,"body":"for all sorts of reasons. And"},{"startTime":448.58000000000004,"endTime":452.36,"body":"over time, as those people"},{"startTime":452.36,"endTime":455.21000000000004,"body":"leave, they take that knowledge"},{"startTime":452.36,"endTime":455.21000000000004,"body":"with them. People also just"},{"startTime":455.21000000000004,"endTime":458.33000000000004,"body":"forget their training because"},{"startTime":455.21000000000004,"endTime":458.33000000000004,"body":"they're so bombarded with"},{"startTime":458.33000000000004,"endTime":461.57000000000005,"body":"information, especially"},{"startTime":458.33000000000004,"endTime":461.57000000000005,"body":"nowadays, and that creates"},{"startTime":461.6,"endTime":466.25,"body":"skills gaps, so your audit needs"},{"startTime":461.6,"endTime":466.25,"body":"to consider staff turnover,"},{"startTime":466.4,"endTime":471.02,"body":"don't make assumptions. Also in"},{"startTime":466.4,"endTime":471.02,"body":"your audit, look at your pupil"},{"startTime":471.02,"endTime":474.38,"body":"data and look at trends"},{"startTime":471.02,"endTime":474.38,"body":"concerning behaviour and"},{"startTime":474.38,"endTime":477.53,"body":"exclusions. Are you getting more"},{"startTime":474.38,"endTime":477.53,"body":"cohorts of children with"},{"startTime":477.53,"endTime":481.46000000000004,"body":"specific needs, like autism or"},{"startTime":477.53,"endTime":481.46000000000004,"body":"domestic violence or attachment,"},{"startTime":481.64,"endTime":486.20000000000005,"body":"because we'll need to make our"},{"startTime":481.64,"endTime":486.20000000000005,"body":"plans adapt to these changing"},{"startTime":486.23,"endTime":490.42999999999995,"body":"demographics.
