GREATER LONDON YOUTH FOUNDATION PRESENTS THE MIKEY BHARJ SHOW

Mikey talks to Colin Powell, the Operations Director of HARROW YOUNG CARERS

MIKEY BHARJ

Colin Powell comes with impeccable credentials.

There are 800,000 plus young carers in the country - and that is a conservative estimate.

Young carers look after parents or siblings and other family members. No child should have that responsibility.

Young carers often suffer stigmatisation or may fall behind with their education, and because of the added burden of caring, they may suffer poor mental health.

In this podcast Colin discusses:

Who is a carer

Points of law

Assessment of need

Prospects for a carer

Opportunities for carers

Harrow  Carers offer help and support.

Harrow Council has commissioned the Harrow  Carers to support them in ensuring that young carers get all the available help. And Harrow School have been amazing too, offering up facilities to help the organisation.

Colin Powell is  caring, knowledgeable and enthusiastic. The borough is lucky to have him campaigning for the rights of young people. No other borough has the same facilities. Even if you are not from Harrow, this podcast will heighten your awareness.
