SPEAKER_03

Welcome to the Freeman Fraser podcast where we talk everything and anything Brendan Fraser. We're gonna discuss the new mummy four. I'm sure everybody's excited about that now that it's actually real. And I think we've talked about this since the beginning of our podcast, have we not?

SPEAKER_00

This is the mummy four has been something we've talked about, yeah, since probably day one. Yeah, when you think back to eight years ago, you know, we talked about the mummy, mummy, the next mummy movie. I believed it would happen, but I wasn't sure if that was like realistic belief, right? It was such like a a long shot at the time.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, it was like mostly just kind of like wishful thinking, because I was like kind of skeptical, like would they, would they not? I mean, because there was how many rumors have they been? Oh, yeah, they're gonna do it, and this and that. And of course, in every interview with Brendan, he's been asked the same question is there a mummy for will there be a mummy for or anything like that? And he's basically been game for it since day one for another one.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, he's always interested in a mummy for, and over the years, it's been you know, we had the Tom Cruise movie, which didn't do well, and then there's the there's another the mummy film coming out, I think in a few months. Yes. Listen, I'm sure it's gonna be great.

SPEAKER_03

I feel like the movie they released uh um uh like a trailer or teaser about it, and I briefly watched it. It's kind of it's marketed as a horror. Because if you look, if you watch the teaser uh about it, it's like it comes off as a horror.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, and I just I expect like 10% at least, or whatever whatever the movie makes, I feel like 10% of it will be people going to it thinking Brennan Fraser might be in it or some kind of connection. Even with the trailer, I'm like, oh, that's a lot of views. I'm guessing a lot of people think it's Rick O'Connell related, yeah, but it's not. Uh but I still want to see it. But the Mummy 4 itself is just it's still sinking in. And I think when they announced the release date, uh like a few weeks ago, that was the that now it feels real, like an actual date to look forward to.

SPEAKER_03

It is official, and the original cast is going to be in it. That means that Rachel Wise is coming back as Evie.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, that's I mean it's shocking.

SPEAKER_03

That is shocking. And I'm and the thing is like we haven't even seen like any interviews or like any comment from her or anything like that. Like, I want to hear her perspective. I want to hear, hey, yes, I decided, but why? Why did we decide?

SPEAKER_00

Having you know, Stephen Summers isn't coming back as writer or director. You know, you have the the directors who made Ready or Not, which I love that movie.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, and then the second one's coming out. So I'm excited about it. That one too.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, I mean, no, they're they're great. It's gonna bring some new energy to the film. Um, obviously, I'm curious why Steven Summers isn't coming back. Maybe he will be an executive producer or something, but I'm very curious. Um, I I hope he was asked to be involved in some way, but it doesn't seem like it at this at this point. But yeah, May 19th, 2028, it's it's wild. I I can't believe it. I mean, I guess it'll feel more real when they release like an onset photo video. That'll be and let's I mean they say everyone's coming back, but I mean I'm hoping Jonathan's coming back. Ardeth Bay, I mean, Ardeth Bay needs to come back. That's it's so easy to get just get the right ingredients to make a fun movie.

SPEAKER_03

Do we get like an official storyline yet, or are we still waiting on that?

SPEAKER_00

No, I don't think there's any okay information yet.

SPEAKER_03

I'm hoping they ask Steven Summers um blessing for this film.

SPEAKER_00

I I would assume in in my in my imagination, my hope over the years, Brennan Fraser and Steven have been like talking in some form. I hope they're still friends, and they casually brainstorm or jokingly say, Oh, the next mummy movie, we're gonna do this and that. I hope that's how it is. And you know, Steven Summers has not done many films in the past decade, so he might have other things in his life going on that he's not as focused on filmmaking, which is, I mean, I'm glad the franchise can continue. I I do wonder, will there ever be conversations on set between Brennan Fraser, Rachel Weiss, where it's like, hey Brennan, remember that time you made the mummy three without me? Like because we we grouped them together so closely, but like, yeah, he just made the mummy three without Rachel.

SPEAKER_03

Like I'm just like thinking, you know, yes, we got the announcement. You know, people have talked to Brandon because right now he's had, you know, he has a movie coming out, he already had Cast Movie coming out that came out. And so I I just can't wait till like Press Run comes out when this film is done. We're just gonna have so much coming out.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, it it should be huge. I mean, it should be, you know, a lot of people like Indiana Jones four and five, like movies that I wanted to be better than they were, but you want the kind of adventure movie that's fun and cool. Like you wanna like see a movie and tell people you have to go see this at the theater. There's so many cool scenes or sequences or action or just the dialogue is just perfect. Like that's what the bar is pretty high, at least for me. But no matter what, we'll have a fourth mummy film. And I'm curious, what do you think about the mummy three not being canon, not being included in like the it's not like they're kind of like setting it aside. I'm curious your thoughts, because for me it's I'm wondering what does that mean? Because you couldn't make a fourth movie, just not acknowledge it, unless certain things are going to happen, like if the son is not involved or their different age, because in the Mummy 3, I feel like Brennan Fraser, his character was already like 50 some years old.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, like they were already like early retirees, yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Their kid was like 20 something, and we know in the first movie was like 1923 when he was in the army, so it's like you just assume he was born like 1900, right? Somewhere around.

SPEAKER_03

So it's like and it's like because it was like in the 1920s, like, is this film gonna be like in the 40s or in the 50s? Like, where does this lead? Yeah. So unless they it's kind of like when you think about it, it's kind of like how shows have certain revivals, you know, they've had their serious finale, and then all of a sudden they have a revival like 10, 15 years later, and it's like, are we gonna tie it together from the third movie that happened? I mean, I get it, like some people don't want to acknowledge it. It's like, oh, it doesn't exist, but I mean, come on, it does exist. Like somehow there's gonna be some sort of mention.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, I mean, I yeah, I think to even say like it doesn't matter, it doesn't count. It's like, okay, I just wonder there's gotta be something that's really relevant, you know. Because I mean, what's interesting, I mean what what the third film could have been is very different. And we're talking you go from the first film and second film that's like the 1920s, I mean, and then to like I guess the mid-40, like after World War II. I I think the war's over at that point in the film.

SPEAKER_03

I believe so.

SPEAKER_00

It's gotta be. So it's like this next one, I mean, yeah, when it takes place is the question. I'm very curious. And really, I think it comes down to the sun. I think that's the only thing I can possibly think of where they would disregard the third film because the age of the sun. If the third one exists, it'd probably take place in like 1953 or something, right?

SPEAKER_02

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

So the kid who was like 20-something would only be a few years older, and that's where it's kind of messes up because Fraser was playing his character like eight years older than he really was, or ten years, something like that. Mummy 3, it's not a great movie, but there are some great moments, I think. I think it's there's some pretty cool stuff, and I it's like this weird side adventure, you know, it doesn't feel quite right without Ardeth or Rachel Weiss, but like yeah, it's still a mummy film. Like Brennan Fraser is awesome in the movie. He's again, you know, he's 110% Isrick O'Connell. So I feel like if they do reference it, it'll probably be some like joke about you know Rachel saying, like, oh, you left me out of the last adventure, or something like that. It's some kind of like metal.

SPEAKER_03

Or like something pretty relate where they're like, Hey, I feel like different today. You know, something subtle like that. It's like, did you do something different?

SPEAKER_00

I know, and then and that's like the third film has that with uh Evie saying something like remember she's at the bookshop reading the book, and it's like I don't think we're the same person at all, or something like that.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah. So it could be like something subtle like that, or you know, what if they bring in, you know, what if they carry on the story where like they are still retired, you know? And then perhaps they completely disregard the kid and the kid's not even in the picture. Like there's mention of him, but he's not involved in the movie. Could be that.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, I mean, or maybe they're just telling that to fans to make us feel better. But I mean, movies have done this before and it doesn't always work, like the Terminator films. I mean, they're constantly saying, Oh, we're ignoring the third one, oh, we're ignoring the fourth one, and the fifth one. It doesn't really, I mean, it's cool, but like or the Halloween films, but you know, I don't know. I don't know if we need to do that.

SPEAKER_03

But I would be very interested, interested in how the development of the story will be, or what the story is gonna be at all. Like, you know, what type of adventure is it gonna be? Where is it gonna take place? Um there's a lot of questions that I definitely want answered, but again, we're not gonna find out until like, I don't know, maybe next year or later on this year, depending. Um, especially if the film is being released in what 2028?

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, May 19th. Yeah, I mean to so the directors of the Mummy Four, um there are two directors, Matt and Tyler. They're known together as Radio Silence. That's that's their uh filmmaking duo name. Um in the Okay. Tyler calls the this is according to an article by Entertainment Weekly. Um Tyler calls the project a dream project when they never thought would actually happen. And here's a quote it's just really, really beautiful and scary and sweeping, and it's awesome when he talks about the script. Um, and then saying their producer on this two scream movies, William, um, he's always way ahead of us. Matt and I, what we're doing next is we're finishing the day, and we have eight setups, and we're talking about the movie, and Williams is always talking about the next project. And he was like, Hey, I think I'm gonna get us the mummy. And in our heads, we're going, that'd be effing crazy. There's no way he's gonna pull it off. And then um he said, Cut to, we're finishing the movie Abigail, and we're meeting with Dave, the writer, and we're designing a pitch, just saying how it happens so fast. Um, and the writer, I think I follow him on Twitter. I mean, like, it's just a reminder, there's an actual script. The script is like official, and people have signed on to the film, and it's like, I can't believe it's real, it's shocking. Um, and I think having like these um these directors on board that genuinely seem like fans and excited, I think they get it. Um like the another another quote is he said, I don't think Brendan and Rachel are getting involved unless they love the script. And what they read, I think they really liked it. It's a good script, it's gonna be fun to make. So very simple words, but like yeah, I mean, I'm on board with this. It's just it's hard to process that it's real. I just can't believe it. I'm this is oh I know it's something we talk about for years. Like, why are they not making mummy for? It should be so easy, it should be so fun. It's an easy way to make money. Like, I'm sure we have like 10 audio clips of the same conversation. Like, this is the easiest movie to make. It is so simple. Like, just get the people back, just bring them back. It doesn't need to be, I mean, this would probably be a big budget movie, but before I was thinking, I'm like, this could be under 100 million dollars, just like get them out there just together.

SPEAKER_03

Like this one, it's a summer blockbuster. So that's that's what I can think of as like a summer a summer blockbuster.

SPEAKER_00

It better do well.

SPEAKER_03

I know it will, but like I yeah, I mean the thing is it's like everybody's going to see that. If you grew up with the films, you're bound to go see it. It's gonna be the summer film of a year, no doubt about it. And uh I'm just excited about it.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, I mean, in Fraser, his his career at this point is like kind of mirroring what it was when the first mummy came out, where it's like he's doing these roles, like you know, The Whale and Rental Family and Pressure, legitimate character-driven films, but then he's also doing a big budget the mummy film.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

It's just who would have thought? I mean, I hoped. I had hoped, but I mean, there was a time where we were, you know, talking about like the poison rose or beyond the curtain of night. Now it's I mean, it's a whole different world for Fraser fans.

SPEAKER_03

I mean, just rental family alone, like although they were questionable roles, but I mean, like, his name was still out there, he was doing steady jobs, I mean, just like any actor would. And then, of course, the well, and then you know, that catapulted his career into a different, you know, direct direction. Like literally back how you said when the first m uh mummy came out, it's like movie after movie after movie, and these movies have substance, you know.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, and I guess really only only questionable movie would be Beyond the Curtain of Night or Behind the Curtain of Night.

SPEAKER_02

And the Poison Rose. Let's let's let's be about that.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, but but the Poison Rose, uh, there's like there's that time between um hairbrained, I think it was like 2013, where it's like 2014, 15, 16, 17. Once he did trust in 2018, yeah, that was like the switch because I mean he joined the Poison Rose. He wasn't like the main guy, you know.

SPEAKER_03

No, he was just like the side character on that one.

SPEAKER_00

But I mean, yeah, I mean trust. That's something again, like if that came out today, I'd yeah, I think Golden Globe nomination at least.

SPEAKER_03

I I still feel like that was that was an underrated show. For sure. Like he was amazing in it. And I kinda wanna see him on TV again. Like maybe like a character like that, or you know, who knows? Um I think he does well in on TV. I mean I really love that role that he played, you know, Fletcher.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. That's crazy. That was eight years ago.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Because I'm sitting here thinking, when do we release our first episode? We're here recording on March 12th.

SPEAKER_03

Um February.

SPEAKER_00

Alright, so we had a welcome episode of One Minute Teaser on March 6th, 2018. Our first episode, why Brennan Fraser? Well, why not? March 14th, 2018. So if I can finish editing this podcast episode and release it that's Saturday.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, okay.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. That'd be pretty cool. Oh yeah. That's crazy.

SPEAKER_03

Full circle moment.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. Oh man. And you know what? Let's see. We get the occasional review, which is pretty cool.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, really? Okay, that's great.

SPEAKER_00

Like I just saw one from 2023 on there. Um, which is a positive one. You know, we occasionally, as you if you listen, you've heard us say before, like, we get emails from people. There's a lot of diehard fans out there that like to correct us and you know, question our I'm sure someone's gonna question my timeline for the mummy three and what year it was and that kind of stuff, but they'll send us an email. It's either that or people that think we know Brandon Fraser, and I'm like, no, we're just two people that love his movies.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, we get that a lot. I think I've we've gotten a couple of DMs or like emails is like hey, can you like email us back and we want to send you something? It's like no, sorry, the disappointment.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, I mean, we're like, hey, if you know Brandon Fraser, yeah, yeah, let us know. We've tried to reach out to him, you know, plenty of times, mostly early on back in 2018. I feel like it'd be much tougher now to get to him. Unless we like a good a pretty cool goal, I don't know how it works, but like two years when they're doing like the press tour for the mummy, like that would be do an actual interview with him or the cast or both. Um I think we talked about it before where it's like you know, do we need to change our name name of the podcast to something? I haven't I have not thought of something better. But at the very least, like a name where it's like it's like bedazzled the Brennan Fraser podcast, something not like that, but you know But I think we I think when we first started this podcast where like we thought of like certain like phrases to kind of like make it you know about Brendan Fraser.

SPEAKER_02

But honestly, I don't know.

SPEAKER_03

I think I I mean I would stay with this one unless we come up with something better. And I know that you said it before where it's just like you don't want to like freak out Brandon as like oh because we have a podcast about him. But then when you think about it, it's like there's so many other podcasts that have like, you know, are about um other celebrities.

SPEAKER_00

So I mean well that let's bring let's take it to the next point on our list of topics. Um so this weekend uh on March 14th on Saturday, Brennan Fraser will be in Cleveland, Ohio at the fan expo. And I am from the Cleveland area, so I got my ticket. I'm going it's pretty wild. I'm excited for you. I'm very excited for you. I but that brings up the question of you know, I've not bought my ticket to get a picture or autograph. Mostly at the moment, it's financial reasons. But they do have the the mummy panel in the evening for just regular ticketed people, so I can go see that. Um and if I have nothing else going on, I want to be like the first person, you know, in the front row, right? Maybe the goal. Um but that kind of brought up the conversation of you know, if I did get my picture with him or autograph, how do I say, Hey Mr. Fraser, I'm uh Daniel, I co-host the Brennan Fraser podcast. How do I say that without a straight face with a straight face? How do I say that at all? How would he react to it? Because I mean, I feel like you he wouldn't want to in any way kind of endorse a podcast that that seems like it could be he's hosting it. That's the name the problem with the name the Brennan Fraser podcast. Like if some people think he's the one hosting, oh here's a picture with the co-host, like you know what I mean?

SPEAKER_03

Or you could like bring it up as hey, I have a podcast about you and then have him ask, okay, what's it called? And then just be kind of like funny about it and be like, Well, we actually named it after you. Made it simple, you know, it's something simple, something that you know people understand better and get it.

SPEAKER_02

Is that what you would say? Would you say that too?

SPEAKER_03

No, absolutely.

SPEAKER_00

I mean, I honestly like walking up.

SPEAKER_03

I don't shy I'm not shy about these things. I would be like, hey, I have a podcast about you. I know that's weird, my bad. But you're right.

SPEAKER_00

You could I could play with the with that kind of because he's not there's no way he'd be he's not gonna be like security.

SPEAKER_03

Come security, we got a psycho next to me or anything like that. I highly doubt that. I think he would be flattered.

SPEAKER_00

Do you think he knows about it?

SPEAKER_03

I don't know. I mean do you think anybody I mean, I don't know. Anybody that listens to us, that that go to these conventions, who have met Brandon Freezer, do you really think they brought up, hey, there's a podcast about you? I mean, that's the only way that he would probably know about us if like other people have mentioned us to him, you know.

SPEAKER_00

I I feel like he knows about it.

SPEAKER_03

Um or like the the the emails that we sent to his um um manager or something.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, I that was you know, way back in 2018, 2019. I with managers at that level, I feel like they don't even bother, you know. I mean whereas like now I feel like it's different with Where I mean he's he's so like back on top, yeah, that maybe it'd be different. Maybe he would do an interview. Where before, if they're trying to like rebuild his image or brand, I don't know. It's tough. But yeah, the question is could I walk up to him and like say anything beyond nice to meet you? Could I be brave enough?

SPEAKER_03

You know, it's even I think I think you can do it, Daniel. I I believe in you. Or if not, like I told you, we you could do like a homemade t-shirt with his brain creature podcast on it, and then just point at it.

SPEAKER_00

You know, one option, like I would love to talk to him about his website. Just like get some clarification. If I if I could get anything, it I would love to know who is in charge of his website. Is that him? I mean, he's paying it to keep it up there every month, right?

SPEAKER_03

Have you checked lately?

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, I checked it. So it's uh it still has the Academy Award video, the win, and then beneath it it says 2012 website. And I'm like, this is not a 2012 website, sir. The the the most recent update's 2005.

SPEAKER_03

Oh god.

SPEAKER_00

So it's like what does that mean 2012? Like what I just have questions, you know. Because I think I would love to like I would never want to change the layout of his of his website. It's so great. It's so like it's iconic. It feels like yeah, it feels like 90s Brandon Fraser has everything you want when you were a kid going to different like movie websites, they were fun. Like they were fun like that. But I mean he could update, he has so much going on, and probably some really cool photos too that he's taken in the past, you know, 20 years.

SPEAKER_03

But it wouldn't be funny if you were to find out that he does his own website, like he handles his own website. That would be like amazing to know. It's like you've literally have kept this like time capsule alive.

SPEAKER_00

Well, I guess the main thing would be reinforcing like, hey, never delete your website, don't change the layout. You know, I'd go for an update. That'd be cool. Like add some some stuff to it, like current, you know, photos, that'd be pretty cool.

SPEAKER_03

So the the the panel, are you able to ask questions or is like you just and then like the whoever's hosting the panel is the one asking questions to them.

SPEAKER_00

From my understanding, you can ask questions, but I mean I you're right. I don't I've never been to any kind of expo or comic-con nothing.

SPEAKER_03

Um has that ever been has it ever been in Cleveland or it has.

SPEAKER_00

I think it was there last year, but Fraser was I mean, Fraser was like just added to it in the past because I because I had seen advertisements of the main thing was um Hayden Christensen and I can Skywalker was like the big big name. He's still coming, but Brennan Fraser was not involved, and now it's like I when I drive to work, like I'll see Brennan Fraser's picture on a billboard. It's like it's pretty pretty wild.

SPEAKER_01

We should take a picture and put it on um our Instagram.

SPEAKER_00

If I can do that, that'd be cool. Yeah, the one close to close to my house, like a digital one, okay. And I just like noticed, like it was like it's Brennan Fraser's picture. I'm like, this is crazy. So I mean, this is my because he was at an some kind of Connor expo in Chicago last summer, and I was like, this could be the closest I am to meeting Brennan Fraser, but I didn't go to it. Um so this is like gotta go. Hopefully, the panel you can ask questions. I assume they have like the opportunity to have some crowd questions, but I don't know for sure. Um, even then, I gotta be brave. And what do I ask? You know, do I go with the website question?

SPEAKER_03

Do I I mean you have to ask, like it's been on your mind since the beginning of this podcast, where it's just like the the website. You have to go with that one, that question.

SPEAKER_00

Oh, yeah. I mean, listen, pre-podcast, pre-podcast, like we're talking 2015. Like I I'll get Facebook memories sometimes where it's like I'm I think I'm the only one checking Brennanfraser.com. Like I was like actively looking for updates, you know, while we're in depth.

SPEAKER_03

So you have to go with that one. And then if there's time, then you can like briefly mention the podcast if you wanted to. Um, but I know that so this weekend is the Cleveland Expo. So if anybody is going to that, definitely tag us in pictures. Uh I we would have loved to see. And especially if you dress up. I love people who dress up. Um, tag us on our Instagram. Or I mean, if you're still using uh Twitter or X, whatever you call it, tag us through there as well. Um, if not, just email us, that'd be great. Because I know after this expo, there's the Orlando one that's like the following weekend, and the whole cast is going to be there, except for like Rachel Wise, but the majority, like Brendan will be there. So if you're going to that one as well, definitely tag us on everything you can possibly do. Um, because when because there's a New York one. I know that he goes he's gone to the New York one before. I don't know if that's like later in the year or I'm not sure.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, I'm not up to date.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah. Because I know here in Atlanta we have Dragon Con. Um, but no one we don't we don't get the good ones down here, unfortunately.

SPEAKER_00

Well, you never know.

SPEAKER_03

But yes, but I'm excited to hear how the Wacon at the expo goes. So definitely.

SPEAKER_00

Oh, yeah, I'll hopefully get some good pictures.

SPEAKER_03

Um yes, that'll be awesome.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. I don't know. I mean, and that's the one thing, like, I don't know how many listeners we have at this point. Like, it's hard to say who will listen to this episode. You know, if we and we'll say I mean I will I like to think that in the next two years with the Mummy Four, there will be plenty of content to share and lots to talk about.

SPEAKER_02

Oh yeah.

SPEAKER_00

I mean, there are people that you know we talked to in our early episodes or on Twitter back in 2018 that I have not talked to since then or around that time. Maybe because not as active on X as I used to be. Um, but I mean I'm curious to like I would love to reach back out to them in some way if I can remember who those people were that like were big into you know sharing Fraser news. Because I mean I think at the time it was like I forget who it was. Do you remember some of the people that like were really into like responding to our podcast back then?

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, I told you um the last time um it was on two of our episodes, uh Charlotte.

SPEAKER_00

Oh yeah, Charlotte, of course. Yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Charlotte. Like I I mean I talked to her and I let her when I was down over in Scotland uh last fall.

SPEAKER_00

So yeah, no, she's and I think because we follow her and she follows us on Instagram because we didn't always have an Instagram until like it wasn't like initially, right? We we waited a few years, I feel like it.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, we waited a while. I think we didn't get in until like what uh 2020 more? That could be 22 or something like that.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, yeah, and I mean uh there was someone listening to an old episode, um, a woman who knew the dialogue of when Evie's reading from the book in the first book. Yes, that was cool.

SPEAKER_01

I remember her, yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, I remember her and again, like I don't I think maybe like the emailed us when we reached out to I forget how it was, but there's some people I want to reach out to again.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, it was like remember when we used to do episodes and had people like send audios. Yes, like their favorite moment or like their favorite scene in the movie. We had a bunch of like uh people like um send their audios, and it was great. We should get back to that.

SPEAKER_00

We gotta get back to that time. We gotta talk to the mummy, the mummy maniac. The guy he's posting these videos about how he traveled across the country collecting the mummy on VHS.

SPEAKER_03

Mummy VHS, honestly, I think he should send us one.

SPEAKER_00

I mean, his he just posted one a couple hours ago, and I think it's like a longer length like recap of his venture adventures. I don't know. I mean, I assume it's all just like a joke is pretty funny, but again, at the same time, like I don't know. This guy could be like maybe he just did that. That's something obviously if I had extra money or just me, I'd be like, Yeah, I'm gonna travel across the country collecting the mummy. Yeah, I mean that's the DHS, it's pretty funny.

SPEAKER_03

That's that's quite an adventure to like go out everywhere and try to get a VHS of the mummy. Is it just like the first mummy specifically, or is it like you know, he only mentions the the first mummy, but I feel like I've seen him have the mummy returns also.

SPEAKER_00

Um, but I could be wrong. Well, I mean I would love to talk to him. I think he we reached out, it took him a while, but he did say that he would be willing to there's a I think there's another um uh a person on Instagram.

SPEAKER_03

I can't remember, but I I think we follow them or not. Uh who gets like um certain like memorabilia from the mummy, like mummy art. Uh can't remember the shadow exhibit. Yeah, yeah. That one, yeah.

SPEAKER_00

That's pretty cool. And it's amazing. I feel like every so often you find like a new diehard mummy fan.

SPEAKER_03

It's just like I know, it's exciting.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, so that's something where it's like, yeah, hopefully we can get back into recording more often. I wish we had been leading up to the fan expo because I wonder, like, are there listeners out there that are going to you know the fan expo? I mean, some people I'm sure they listened to our podcast when we were more consistent and they kind of dropped off. Maybe they'll come back. Yeah, never know.

SPEAKER_03

But we'll we'll get them back. We'll get them back.

SPEAKER_00

With the mummy four, I expect we will.

SPEAKER_03

Oh, absolutely. We're gonna have so much content, it's gonna be insane.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, and then also even some other great news uh the mummy returns coming back to theaters March 27th, I believe. I know around here it's Cinemark, it's there for like a week, but it's like one showing per day. Um, it's some weird times.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, I have to check Atlanta showings for that. Um, because it's like the anniversary run, right?

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, 25th anniversary, even though the the film came out like in May, but like they're releasing it now.

SPEAKER_01

Um, so pretty cool because I mean Yeah, so if it's near your if you have a Cinemark or is it also EMC or I'm not sure.

SPEAKER_00

I just know Cinemark is what's near me and the it's yeah, it's one showing per day for like a week starting March 27th.

SPEAKER_03

Well, check your local theaters um or anywhere around you and see if there's a showing of that and definitely go and watch it. Because it's like on I mean, some of us were kids when that movie came out, and we remember what it felt like as a to watch it. So now that the the majority of us are adults, uh, I'm sure that'll be like super enjoyable to watch and kind of like like, dang, okay, this is great.

SPEAKER_00

We talked about it or I talked about it in our our first episode, episode one, on March 14th, 2018. How you know I was me and my brother and a couple of friends were there for opening night, and we were so excited to go see the mummy returns. We walk up to buy our ticket and it's sold out. All the showings are sold out. So we had to go see Stallone film driven, which is pretty good, still pretty good. Um, but then we came back the next day and saw it, and that was like my first true experience seeing a movie with a packed theater, like sold out, um, which is like life-changing. I mean, that's like yeah, that's the way to do it. It's such a different experience when you go opening nights with a full crowd.

SPEAKER_03

So I miss those times where it was like the years were packed and people were actually respectful because nowadays I'm like, I don't even want to go after 5 p.m. because it's a shit show.

SPEAKER_00

I mean, it's tough between cell phones and really young kids being in the theater sometimes, it's tough. I mean, but yeah, I mean simpler times 25 years ago.

SPEAKER_03

I know. So yeah, so definitely check it out, watch it. Um, and if it's your first time watching it ever, if you're in for a wild ride. Oh yeah. And let us know. What like email us, let us know your experience from like the first time watching it to like now seeing it again. If you haven't watched it, you know, in recent years, you know.

SPEAKER_00

Can you imagine? I mean, if it's the first time like see in tw in 2001, seeing The Rock as a Scorpion King at the end on the big screen, yeah, it didn't look too great, but like we didn't know what great great was. So if you watch it for the first time now, 25 years later on the big screen, and you see the rock's mug just coming out of those doors, you're probably probably gonna be like, Whoa, what's yeah, but it's still it's a fun movie. I love it.

SPEAKER_03

I mean it is, it's such a fun movie, so definitely watch it. Don't miss out on it. Um yeah, speaking of uh other releases, of course, uh Fraser's uh new movie Pressure, which is based on D-Jay, uh the trailer came out, it looks really good.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, it's based on a play, I think, correct? Uh I want to say it is, I should know that. Let's see. Yeah, based on based on a stage play from 2014, the film that dramatizes the intense 72-hour high-stakes decision-making process regarding the weather conditions before the D-Day landings. So that's cool.

SPEAKER_03

I mean, that's definitely a true uh character type of film, and that's like Brendan's second film that's based on a play.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, because the whale was based on a play, and now this one's based on a play. Um so this one's a war thriller film, and I'm pretty sure there's so many like war junkies out there who love some to watch this.

SPEAKER_00

Oh, they're releasing it on May 29th, I believe, which is probably Memorial Day weekend. And this is like just falls like perfectly in that.

SPEAKER_03

Oh, absolutely. So I wonder what other movies um being released around that time.

SPEAKER_00

I don't even know. I mean, like as far as big movies, you got like the Mandalorian and Grogu, it's like a week earlier, I think. But I mean, it'll, you know, for it's not a big budget movie. Um, it's a character type film. I'm sure it'll do well just from the content of it. And it's clearly, you know, Brennan Fraser back doing what he does, what he does best.

SPEAKER_03

I mean, it has a good cast, it has Andrew Scott, it has Carrie Conde, Damian Lewis, Chrisena. So, I mean, they're well-known actors, so I'm pretty sure again, if you're into war films, you know, this is especially this specific, you know, event of D-Day, definitely go see it. Because again, this is a war thriller and has Brandon's main character is Dwight Um Eisenhower. So we're definitely going to get some drama out of him.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, I mean, it looks pretty good. I mean, it's it's something where like even if Rental Family and the Whale didn't exist, like if it was just pressure, we'd be like, he's back. Like this is like true Brennan Fraser acting in like a legitimate I mean, visually from the look of it, it's like it feels like it would be another Oscar type of film. I mean, it I don't know if it will be. It's released in May, but like from the look of it with the actors and like based on a play. Yeah, it's I mean that's in a historical you know drama. Like this is yeah, it's the real deal.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, we'll definitely um wait and see when it releases and and also earlier, yeah, it wasn't this year, was it? Rental Family.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, that was in November, yeah. We're on Thanksgiving.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, okay. Wow, I thought it was like this year for some reason. But yeah, Rental Family came out. I cried so hard. It was like an emotional roller coaster film. And I know a lot of people mentioned it's like, yeah, they cried. It was it was it was profound. It definitely was. And I know that if you missed it in the movie theaters, um, it's now streaming on Hulu slash Disney Plus, or if you wanted to rent it or even own it, you're in I think what Amazon.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, I'm sure everywhere, I think. Um yeah, we'll have to do like a deep dive into like a full true review. You know, we were we recorded a few months ago more than that. Um had some audio issues. I'm trying to piece it together when I have time, and we'll still release it and like backdate it so it like looks like it came out before this one. Um we both love Rental Family. I know I saw it with my wife the day before Thanksgiving, I think, when it first came out. Um and it, you know, it was great audience. I mean, it was a smaller screen, but like all the seats were practically filled. I mean, it's just a easy movie to recommend. You know, it's a it was a good choice for a follow-up to uh an academy award-winning movie, so oh it was so good.

SPEAKER_03

Um I mean the director herself got so much recognition for the film.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, I was hoping for more with at least Golden Globes, but I mean it got overshadowed by other films, unfortunately.

SPEAKER_03

But I mean, it was he did amazing in the role, but you can't win them all.

SPEAKER_00

You can't.

SPEAKER_03

I love that.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, we'll talk more about that in a future episode. Um I wanted to talk about a recent AARP article with Brennan Fraser, real quick.

SPEAKER_03

Ah, yes. And if you're familiar with AARP is for older people, retirees.

SPEAKER_00

And I mean, so this came out in January, so a couple months ago. Um I was just reading it today. Like I'd seen the pictures and I posted one on Instagram. Pretty cool pictures. Um, and it's a good article. There's a lot of interesting stuff. I mean, it's it's it shows a lot of you know Fraser's character. Pretty funny. Like he's he's meeting the the writer at um, I think like a restaurant at like a hotel, you know, Brandon Fraser is like a comedian, like he walks up and like fakes like he's gonna pull the tablecloth off the table and like he pretends to yank it like a magician. Um he's a ham in the best possible way. It appears this is Fraser's way of breaking the ice. Um, so there's some really good stuff. But then some of it did bother me where it's like the way he describes Brennan Fraser, it's like I wrote down a couple, you know, quotes from the article where the writer said Fraser may not have quite the same traffic stopping frame of some of his other peers. And another part he wrote, other than shoveling down calories and channeling Houdini, and I'm like, this article it's just weird. I mean, one because I don't think even needs to comment on someone's body in any way. Like, yeah, especially like in 2026, after we know what he's gone through, and like we've seen how some like tabloids have reacted. Remember back in like 2019 or 2020, like he was on vacation, and like there are photos of him like and like commenting about his body, putting it like side by side, you know, him from the 90s, and it's like you know, I don't know, at a certain point here in 2026, I feel like the writer would have enough like an understanding of him and his career and like what he's faced to like not like shoveling down calories. I don't know, it's just weird. I just find it really weird. Like the article's great though, like some great stuff in it. It's just like those things kind of jump out to me because there's constantly, you know, it's easy to compare someone to how they look 30 years earlier. You'd be like, wow, they changed. And it's like, yeah, they you know, when I was 30 years younger, I was much different. I don't know. It's just it's just interesting that you know, we've had these conversations on the podcast over the eight years, and it's like here we are in a great article, great interview, and just like weird ways to describe somebody when you don't need to. You know, like we get it, he's 57 years old, you know. He's so, anyways, check out the article ARP, but they have great pictures though.

SPEAKER_03

I mean, he's wearing his cowboy hat. I love that.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, him and his cowboy hat man. The days of trust that was like every photo, like every content piece we got back then was just him in cowboy boots and a hat.

SPEAKER_03

So it was good to see that, but um oh yeah, and I mean, because it suit him so well, so why wouldn't you want Brandon in a cowboy hat and a suit cowboy kind of like suit thing that he did for like the entirety of trust and then the trust press release as well? I loved it. That was a good time.

SPEAKER_00

It was it was definitely a time, it was definitely a time, but we're lucky to have a yeah, you know, in this time we have a lot of. of content coming out and uh it will just increase i mean in the next two years i mean quite a bit and i mean again like you never know uh how the mummy four will be received i mean hopefully it's very profitable and i mean if there's a fourth one there could be a fifth one you never know so we never know until we watch it it could possibly be like the worst plot ever but the thing is is like you have you're going to have your OG cast in it people who grew up on watching the movie people who are like die hard fans of those films or even Brandon or Rachel or whoever are going to watch it no matter what yeah they're going to be there yeah you know we should do an episode soon where it's like what like fans like writing in or sending audio like what do you want to see in the mummy for either the plot or answers like I have questions about the mummy returns like there's a whole like Brandon Fraser with a tattoo on his wrist and Arth Bay commenting on it and like oh I'm a believer now like there's so much more to his story that can be explored I'm just like very curious.

SPEAKER_03

Absolutely there's a lot we just never know we're just gonna have to wait here and I'm pretty sure we'll hear a bunch about it. So I'm I'm excited. I mean then again you never with Brandon's you know pressure film he might have something else coming up between now and that the release of the Mummy 4. So I'm excited to whatever other projects he has lined up.

SPEAKER_00

I've I would assume like a year from now they're filming Mummy 4. So he yeah I'm sure it's other projects coming up we'll have to check. But yeah there's a lot going on right now so I'll keep everyone updated on my adventures on Saturday. Um see how that goes and I'm sure I'll be posting I can't wait to hear about it.

SPEAKER_03
