Ep. 02 - HGTV IS HOLLYWOOD
I had an old boy tell me once, son, "Never let the truth get in the way of a good story!"
Just as the title suggests, HGTV TV shows are mostly entertaining and not typically a reliable research tool you would use to undertake a project feasibility study for your next renovation or new build project.
Not that they try to conceal the truth, it's just that when it comes to real life, some of the realities are glossed over because the priority is the entertainment value. Let's face it, we don't watch those shows to learn more about the micro-economics of a project.
And don't forget, they have to cram in a whole project build into a 30 or 60 minute slot - quite the challenge.
So it's no wonder some of the micro detail, especially as it relates to project costing and finance is omitted.
