More than 40 million Americans live with a mental health condition — that’s more than the populations of New York and Florida combined.
While mental illness is prevalent, talking about it is still relatively taboo. Talking and learning about mental health and mental illness is an important first step towards breaking that stigma.
In honor of September, Mental Health Awareness Month, Sharp Best Health and Sharp Mesa Vista Hospital have teamed up to start a conversation about mental health by recording a four-part Mental Health series. Each month we will sit down with a different mental health expert to discuss important issues such as anxiety, sleep and mental health during holidays.
On today's episode, Sharp Best Health interviews Shanette Smith, a licensed marriage and family therapist and business development specialist at Sharp Mesa Vista Hospital, who gives us a sneak peek of the upcoming podcast series. Shanette explains why mental health awareness is so important and also shares what we can expect in the upcoming podcast episodes.
