On November 22nd 2016, 20-year old Sarah Butler was murdered by Khalil Wheeler-Weaver, now known as the Dating App Killer. The serial killer had already claimed the lives of two prior victims that year and attempted to murder a third, Tiffany Taylor. In fact, his spree could have been cut short and Sarah's murder prevented if only authorities had taken Tiffany seriously when she reported the attack. Wheeler-Weaver targeted black women and sex workers, and was confident that he could continue to get away with it. But these women mattered, and when he went to trial the Judge ensured the killer's sentencing reflected that.
