World of Horror with Mom & Mac
Mother and son team Mom and Mac discuss, analyze, dissect and explore international horror movies. Conversations are casual but spoiler-heavy. We take turns choosing a genre or subgenre of horror and pairing an international film with an American one. Past episodes have included: Funny Games, One Missed Call, Let the Right One In/Let Me In. Genres we have covered are Animal Attack (BOAR from Australia and TREMORS); Creepy Kids (GOODNIGHT, MOMMY from Austria and ORPHAN); Battle Royale-type films (BATTLE ROYALE from Japan and THE BELKO EXPERIMENT); Haunted Houses (THE HOUSE AT THE END OF TIME from Venezuela and BEETLEJUICE). For the last main show of 2023, we look at two movies about vampires: SHADOW OF THE VAMPIRE from the US and RIGOR MORTIS from Hong Kong.
Mom & Mac Chat: Names that drive up the wall, kids today, being too attached to our phone. Also, Mom is (Internet) autistic.
Mac liked SHADOW OF THE VAMPIRE a whole lot because of the performances. Mom liked RIGOR MORTIS a lot because of the cool fight scenes and some of the folklore, confusing as it was.
Next time, we will be breaking down the films we looked at this year and look forward to some great shows in the coming year.
