World of Horror with Mom & Mac
Mother and son team Mom and Mac discuss, analyze, dissect and explore international horror movies. Conversations are casual but spoiler-heavy. We take turns choosing a genre or subgenre of horror and pairing an international film with an American one. Past episodes have included: Funny Games, One Missed Call, Let the Right One In/Let Me In. Genres we have covered are Animal Attack (BOAR from Australia and TREMORS); Creepy Kids (GOODNIGHT, MOMMY from Austria and ORPHAN); Battle Royale-type films (BATTLE ROYALE from Japan and THE BELKO EXPERIMENT); Haunted Houses (THE HOUSE AT THE END OF TIME from Venezuela and BEETLEJUICE). Special episodes feature foundational international horror films or guests who come on to highlight a film that "Means the World of Horror" to them. https://linktr.ee/WorldofHorror

THE PERFECTION & STOPMOTION: Episode 160: Obsession Over Art Films: All Those Bitches are Girl, Interrupted
WoHos!
Welp. This week we looked at two films, all right. Mom hated THE PERFECTION and there was no love lost between Mac & STOPMOTION.
CW for mention/suggestion of child rape in THE PERFECTION and childhood trauma in STOPMOTION.
Both films are about mental illness and both fail spectacularly in its depiction. THE PERFECTION could have been a joyous, campy romp, but it is too careless with its subject matter and results in a horribly distasteful mess.
STOPMOTION has some wonderful stop motion sequences which may be worth the price of admission, but even with its short run time, it overstays its welcome.
This was a fun conversation about two repellent films.
Next time we are covering two films that deal with class warfare: READY OR NOT & THE PLATFORM.
