World of Horror with Mom & Mac
Mother and son team Mom and Mac discuss, analyze, dissect and explore international horror movies. Conversations are casual but spoiler-heavy. We take turns choosing a genre or subgenre of horror and pairing an international film with an American one. Past episodes have included: Funny Games, One Missed Call, Let the Right One In/Let Me In. Genres we have covered are Animal Attack (BOAR from Australia and TREMORS); Creepy Kids (GOODNIGHT, MOMMY from Austria and ORPHAN); Battle Royale-type films (BATTLE ROYALE from Japan and THE BELKO EXPERIMENT); Haunted Houses (THE HOUSE AT THE END OF TIME from Venezuela and BEETLEJUICE). This week I had the pleasure of speaking to filmmaker and Animal Attacks film fan, Stefan MacDonald-Labelle. We spoke about his film, HEAD LIKE A HOLE and the incomprehensible DEEP BLOOD, which is 3/4 teen drama and 1/4 anti-shark propaganda. Neither of us had seen it and now we are both forever changed.
We also discuss Stefan's adventures on the Indie Film Festival Circuit, crossing the border into the U.S., cute dogs, and the insufferable heat.
