In this *HILARIOUS* episode Diva and Ali discuss their personal dieting woes, society’s new obsession with weight loss shots, and the USA failed healthcare system.

SPEAKER_00

Hi, and welcome back to another episode of Diva Almighty. I am joined as always by my bestie Allie. Hey bitches. Okay. So I have to tell you guys so that this past week, Allie, it's been very traumatic for me. I had a flip-flop-related injury. Oh, geez. I um took a step on the wet grass. And I wish I could say this fall was like epic.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. It was just one of those embarrassing ones. So stupid. Yeah, I just kind of like went. Were you even drunk? No. That's so.

SPEAKER_00

It was 9 a.m. That's wild. But still, well, that's still a legitimate question. Yeah, still a valid question. But no, I just kind of went down. It's almost like if you like step back on a curb. Yeah. You know, I stepped back on the wet grass. It was extremely dewy. It was a dew-laden, grassy knoll. And I just ate shit out of my flip-flop and I went down. And I apparently, according to MedExpress, who I do not trust, by the way, but I went to MedExpress because this happened on a Monday, this past Monday. And by Tuesday, my ankle looked like a fucking golf ball. Yeah. And I always have stunning calves. I do have the best legs in Butler. But my calf looked like so I was swollen from the knee down. And everything was like, it was like snap crack on pot, man. Everything was fucking cracking and popping. And I thought, oh fuck. I I knew the minute that I hit, I thought, it's gotta be broken. It's gotta be broken because I got a little nauseated. And a few people know this, but I was really training hard to professional wrestle back in the day. Oh. Entertainment wrestle.

unknown

Oh.

SPEAKER_00

Entertainment wrestle. And I had a move that was my signature move, which I would do a uh round off front hand spring into the turnbuckle. It was a ripoff from China, God rest your soul, my queen. Um and I what is that, the tibia and fibia in your lower leg? I think so. Yeah. I heard them crack and jam into each other. Oh god. So yeah, we were we I mean we were young when this happened, but I know that sensation. Yeah. But to be fair, I'm glad that I can still feel a sensation, period. That is true, especially one below the belt. At this point. But you know, the the healthcare system has failed me. Well, they they said that at um MedExpress, they said that it there was too much swelling. If like if I would have came right away, because I slept on it for a night. If I would I tried to walk it out. Just walk it off. I tried to just walk it off. And they said if I would have came um the day before when it actually happened, that maybe their image imaging would have been more successful, but there was too much swelling. Oh.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. I mean, I'm no doctor, but I feel like a lifeguard could diagnose a broken ankle. You're a street pharmacist. Well, honey. It's different. It's more like a chemist.

SPEAKER_00

But I also like so this whole experience is real because I spent three days on my back. Allie, don't say one fuck. I'm just fuck shit.

SPEAKER_01

I'm avoiding eye contact with you. So that I don't know.

SPEAKER_00

Shut the fuck. Yeah. Yeah. That's too easy. You're better than that. You're better than that. But um I spent three days, and I was, you know, and all I've been I've been watching that Love Island. Oh yeah. I haven't gotten into that. Listen, don't. Because it's a rabbit hole that you do not want to go down. And it's like so, it's so gross. It's so like exploiting. It's so just it's like these 20-year-old kids just passing around all kind of oral herpes. Oh, Jesus. Yeah. And they have these, you know, so cheese. It's like if you were on there be like, hi, my name's Allie. I'm spelt. I'm a black belt, and I never met a box of wine I haven't felt.

SPEAKER_01

Like, oh wow. That was really good, Steve.

SPEAKER_00

That was like my spot. I always wear my belt.

SPEAKER_01

You're gonna do my intro for anything I do. If I ever get into MMA someday, I want you on the mic next to Joe Rogan announcing me.

SPEAKER_00

Oh my god. But during that time, I but watching these um young kids, I thought, I really need to pursue my diet much, much, much better because I am just laying here like a big fat Landora hog, you know. And they here's them like just making a mint off of gonorrhea. Yeah. You know? Well, they're half our age, Steve. So this is this is true. They can live off of white claws and it's like. This is true. But Allie, you know, you and I uh in in private, we discuss uh nutrition, we discuss diet, we discuss it often. So where do where do we let me ask you, where do we go from here?

SPEAKER_01

Well, I think that our healthcare system is completely fucked up. For starters. Yes. Nobody nobody learns nutrition. Nobody learns to be healthy in this country. As I light up a cigarette on I mean, we've had ample warning about nicotine, though, to be fair, and drugs. Yeah, I know. We've been talking about it. I feel like the more they told us not to do drugs, the more I wanted to, though. So firm. So firm. But um, you know, even this is kind of an interesting statistic that I found that doctors in their medical school career, they only receive 19 hours of nutrition education in their four years of medical school. But then you have doctors that are, you know, they prescribe diets to people, they tell them how to eat, how to live. Yes, they're dishing out GLP ones like their fucking Tic Tacs.

SPEAKER_00

Like Yeah, how what what is your opinion on the GLP one? I feel like Or the um semi-glutide or or whatever. Whatever the hell they're called. Yeah, now because I've been I have I've I call it the real housewife shot.

SPEAKER_01

Basically, yeah. It's like our generation's mother's little helper. Honestly. Which was what before cocaine? Uh, I think back in the day they were like benzos. Oh. Love them all, you know. Or amphetamine. I don't know.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

unknown

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

No. But uh, I think that they're jumped to as a first resort way too quick. Yes. Way too quick. And I think that people stay on them too long. Yes. And they never learn how to actually have a healthy lifestyle. Now, I understand there's people that have like I think that well, if it's kind of that have an issue with losing weight and stuff like that.

SPEAKER_00

I think there are time and it it it kind of it kind of harkens back to bariatric surgery, which is now, and thank God, thank God it is, because we know people personally, you and I, who have who have been through that, and it is not a fun life after you have that. So thank God this has kind of taken um the the the place of that the place of that. Yeah, but we don't know we don't know the long term effect. We don't know the long-term effects of this, though. We do not.

SPEAKER_01

Like there's early evidence that it it leads to like bone density problems for women. Yeah. Um a whole lot of things, like fertility issues, they're starting to I have boner density problems. I'm sure your boner is dense enough. Someday you'll let me see.

SPEAKER_00

Um God, she'll do anything. Anything? Desperate.

SPEAKER_01

Um but people aren't being taught how to, you know, actually live healthy. And if you think about how we grew up too, like everyone won like the flat Britney Spears tummy, everyone wanted, you know, that that quick fix. No one understood healthy.

SPEAKER_00

Yes, yes. And and don't get me wrong, I love a quick fix.

SPEAKER_01

I do too. I really do. If it was easy, yeah, then you know, yeah.

SPEAKER_00

But so people getting on the GLP ones and the semi-glutides, um, you know, will get whatever, it's like uh I hey, go on, go on with your bad stuff. I'm not mad about it, you know. But here's where I do get mad.

SPEAKER_01

Okay. So over the last, I would say, I think it's been like ten years. Nine, we'll say nine years. Between changing my lifestyle and then finding actual fitness and stuff like that. No, haven't found him yet. Or he won't let me find him. I'm gonna see he and Satan keep like pin-plonging me back and forth, neither one wants me. I have lost over that time about 40 to 45 pounds. The hard way.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

I found what foods my body liked. I found what foods they did it didn't like. Yeah. I started exercising. I found a great exercise community. Yeah. And just are we talking about it? I'm not, I'm not gonna bring it up.

SPEAKER_00

No, that's all. I'm not. She was in a cult for a while.

SPEAKER_01

I'm still in it. Um but but my point is that it was trial and error. I had to figure out what worked. And that now people are just taking a shot and they're like, oh, look at me. Yeah, you didn't work nearly you didn't do anything.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. You didn't do anything. We didn't have those back in the day.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

We didn't have those shots back in our day.

SPEAKER_01

I just feel like those shots are like it's like the new a cheap way out. It is. Well, and it's overprescribed because I think it's like the new celiacs disease. You know, it's like you wake up after you eat a loaf of bread and you're bloated and you're like, I have celiacs. The doctor's like, yeah, you have celiacs. Yeah. When it's like, what percentage of people actually have it? And you're just bloated from eating bread too much bread. I mean, I get bloated too. Yeah. So it's like there's people who need these things.

SPEAKER_00

More people probably have syphilis and celiacs. Right.

SPEAKER_01

Um, I I just, yeah, I think there's a percentage of people who do need these things, but they're over-prescribing it to just anybody who wants to lose some weight, and then they don't follow up. Then they don't give them nutrition counseling or anything like that.

SPEAKER_00

Well, that's the thing too. I I wonder, and and don't get me wrong, like I said, I did it. Okay. I've been on the I've been on the real house so I've shot. I do not knock it. Um, it didn't work out for me because it made me very ill.

SPEAKER_01

Well, that's everyone gets sick whenever they take it. Why would you want to do that?

SPEAKER_00

Which I I which I think is is part of its charm. Because you don't want to eat because you feel like shit. Yeah. You know? Um, and it's it's been also I definitely link to uh acid reflux. Yeah. You know, because that for me, granted, I'm getting older, you know, but um that started for me very badly. Like I've never in my life had have a fucking thing of tums in every nook and cranny. Like I have to have it in my car and my in my station at work. You gotta have them everywhere. That started after I was on the real house like that. You know, and like you said, the long-term effects of this is is we don't know. Right. But on the same sense, too, if you look at some of these other diets, Allie, like um keto. You know, and now keto, to me, Allie, was a diet I could never fucking know. No. Like, okay, so you can't have a uh fruit and a veggie, but but you can have bacon. You eat a pound of bacon, zero butter in your coffee instead of like creaver.

SPEAKER_01

The fat industry just sort of replaced the Atkins diet and called it keto. Yeah. Because Atkins got a whole bunch of shit because of heart disease. Because you're eating way too much fat in your fucking diet. You know? Like, okay, if you want to do keto for a couple weeks to jumpstart some weight loss, that's fine. But for the love of God, eat some vegetables.

SPEAKER_00

Like, did you ever hear that um of the keto flu? Yeah. Like your body goes into keto acid. Ketoacidosis. Keto acidosis. That'd be a great drag, Queen.

SPEAKER_01

It would be.

SPEAKER_00

Oh next to the stage, keto acidosis.

SPEAKER_01

I just I don't know. I feel like you're tapping toes with keto acidosis. I feel like if your body's doing that to you, it's telling you to stop.

SPEAKER_00

It's telling you.

SPEAKER_01

It's telling, give me some fucking carbs.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, put a creamer in your coffee instead of a stick of unsalted butter.

SPEAKER_01

Right, right. Like, I don't know. It's the thing is, is like the car the type of carbs matter.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

You know, uh it like use your head. Is it it better to eat bacon or broccoli? Like, come on. This is it is a talent all this time. It's right, it's it's very simple. Yeah, you know. Um, so don't limit your carbs, eat the right carbs. That's right. You're right. Now, I'm I'm a huge proponent, I'm a huge supporter of protein. Because that personally helped me a lot. Same. Increasing my protein.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, I'm a I'm a big um tuna fan. Um much to Laura's dismay, who works with me, because she's like, God damn, feel that packet of tuna up. The whole salon smells like Steve, you have a yeast infection. Smells like a vagina. Yeah, put that fucking tuna away. And hard-boiled eggs and the and the like. Yeah, I'm a huge egg eater.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, I like eggs.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

I like protein that comes from animals.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

You know, like I'm not a soy supporter.

SPEAKER_00

No. And you know, you as a male, you cannot. I've heard this before that you are not to have an exorbitant amount of soy. No, that's where the term soy boy comes from. You'll grow titties.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. It's too much. Like the fake protein, like that impossible meat is so bad for you. That lab grown shit, yeah. So bad. So yeah, stay away from it or else you're gonna start lactating. Wow. After my history. No, here's the thing. If if we can use that to make white Russians, then that's fine. You are organic white Russians.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, this is straight from mother's milk. So the the um other problem, Allie, when it comes to dieting, is my lack of ability to work out. Yeah. Like I felt totally justified. I try, I've been really trying, guys, because I'm I'm uh this is self-promotion right now, but I am in a show opening in October called Looped from Hobnob Theater. It is a must-see. Come check it out. It's gonna be hysterical. It is hysterical. Allie's little read a little bit of the script already. Um, but it is so, so funny, and it's it's so brilliant. But anyway, I have to I don't want to go on because it's a very small theater, and I don't want to go on looking like Thelma Harper. I don't want to go on.

SPEAKER_01

Well, I mean your schedule makes it hard. To like get a fitness routine, yeah. But anything, you know, just adding steps, walk. Yeah, go walking. Yeah, pick up the pace while you're walking a little bit. Well, I can't make it all. Well, because you're extremely injured.

SPEAKER_00

I'm extremely injured. But as far as that, as far as any of that goes, like I would much rather take, you know, okay, GLP 1, semiglutates, all that shit aside. I would much rather take a holistic approach to well, first of all, any anything regarding my health. Yeah. You know, like as far as my liver goes, which is screaming for help. I mean literally. Yeah, it's it's basically Nancy Guthrie. It's it's missing. It's suffering somewhere in the desert. It's suffering up a long time ago. But it, you know, I'd rather take milk thistle than be all or you know what I mean? So some you know, I'm saying something to that effect, other than, you know, do these we're not doing some immunotherapy, we're not doing chemo, we're not doing like if there is a holistic route, you know, yeah.

SPEAKER_01

And it's a shame that I think that our health system does not promote that at all. Yeah. And the problem is that pharmaceutical companies, obviously, which we could do a whole other episode on. But like I've been I've been watching a lot of these things that um these people from Russia talking about their health system. It seems fantastic. It's like they they mix holistic healing with science, obviously, because medicine is real, you know. Yes, but they still do a lot of the old school things that we used to do in hospitals, which was like get patients a certain amount of daylight, feed them nutrient-dense, fresh foods, um, cotton linen sheets, like just yeah, like their recovery centers, like surgeries.

SPEAKER_00

But what happens when you're not in bed?

SPEAKER_01

Like the recovery centers are like health and wellness spas almost. That obviously they give you your antibiotics and whatever it is you're prescribed, yeah, but they give you a holistic approach as well.

SPEAKER_00

So I'm sure they they realize that there might be some instances where, okay, we have to take it to pharmaceuticals. Right. Right, but then uh on the but before we go that route, let's try this, this. And it's and this is this is how we got to be here, people. People were rubbing plant roots on their wounds, and you know, we wouldn't be here today if if it wasn't for holistic medicine, but then herbal medicine, whatever pharmaceu pharmaceutical company, I mean it turned into all profit, you know.

SPEAKER_01

So for the longest time, and that's about to stop, for the longest time, doctors were incented to prescribe medications.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

They're going to start incentivizing them to de-prescribe people, thank God, so that they make money either way. But how messed up is that? And we wonder why there was an opio an opioid problem. Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Because they're just dishing out painkillers and that's what they're if they are their pain clinics, right, Allie? Like it's yeah, like you go there and stand in line, like they manage your pain, they don't take care of your pain.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, they don't band it. They just keep poking you on to something else. Right. Because they don't care about us. I mean, that's a whole other rabbit hole episode that we could do sometime. But we won't get into that now. Get her getting more radical.

SPEAKER_00

It's real radical. She's already more but she's already back in the USSR over there.

SPEAKER_01

I am. But it seems like a better standard of living. Yeah. But we like to shit on them.

SPEAKER_00

But no, what? I also I also think that there's there Russia's not the only one. You she she just fucking loves Putin. So he's so fucking sexy. No, go ahead. You guys can turn off now. But she um But I think Canada, I think there's a I think there's Well, there's No, there's a problem with Canada.

SPEAKER_01

It's the free. It's not even that because it's free in Russia. But the problem is like their wait times, first of all, and now they're euthanizing people. I love that for quite a bit. Well, yeah, except if you go in with a broken ankle. They're just gonna put you under. They'd be like, how much how much do you drink in a day? And then just be like, okay, bye. Yeah. You're not worth fixing because they don't have the money. Yeah. Like, do you want to hold his hand? Do you want to pop for it? So, like, in Russia, I was I was doing some research. Like, they have a socialized healthcare system that you can opt into if you need to. Yeah. So, but the difference is basically like if you go into that system, whatever you're doing is free, but it's gonna take a while. Or you can pay money to you got the VIP, basically. But it is like so cheap. So, for example, the procedure my dad would have needed here would be $85,000. Some sort of aortic bleed, tear, something. Yeah. $11,000 in Russia for the same procedure. So that just tells you that doctors and pharmaceutical companies are the problems here and insurance companies.

SPEAKER_00

Yes, and this is and this has been, in my opinion, I don't care if you're Republican, I don't care if you're Democrat, I don't care who you are. This has been the medical world has been a corrupt scene in the United States for a very important thing, neither political party has ever taken care of it correctly.

SPEAKER_01

Because they're both getting kickbacks, they're both getting lobbied. Sure. So they're not gonna take care of it.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. On that note, Allie, what do you think um about my mental health?

SPEAKER_01

Ah, you know, I think I'm the wrong person to ask. True. But I do think she does co-sign a lot of my bullets. I do, I do. That's we are very toxic for each other, but but perfect at the same time. We need each other.

SPEAKER_00

Yes.

SPEAKER_01

Um, two crazies make a normal. Yeah. In my opinion. But I do think that you and I need to go somewhere. Like a health spa retreat and just camp.

SPEAKER_00

No, rehab.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, that's what some people will call it. I was trying to I was trying to avoid rehab. We could we could we could go live from Betty Ford. We're live here with Diva. He's been live from Betty Ford. He's going through withdrawals. Oh, he does shit himself. Live from Pyramid.

SPEAKER_00

Oh, okay. Well, on that note, we're gonna wrap up this episode of Diva Almighty to next week. Oh, shit. Hold on. Shit, no, she didn't.

SPEAKER_01

Hold on. There is one thing I think that we need to clarify that you said at the beginning about having the best legs in Butler. The best male legs in Butler. Okay, fair enough. I rock the best feet. All right.

SPEAKER_00

Fair enough. Can we wrap it up now? Yes, that's fine. Now that you got that out of your fucking system. Okay.

SPEAKER_01

And eat natural, eat healthy, people.

SPEAKER_00

Yes, yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Okay, go ahead.

SPEAKER_00

I'm done now. Okay, are we good? Okay. On that note, we're gonna wrap up this episode of Diva Almighty. Thank you guys for tuning in. Tune in next week for a new episode. As always, we love you guys. Thank you. Bye.
