Faith that is confident that God has a plan, faith that is willing to express honest vulnerability and faith that is steadfast in truth. That is gritty faith. Finding a balance in all of it can be hard though - you can't be a hardened person pretending nothing bothers you, but you also can't live in a sobbing pile of depression.
