Oh, all right, everybody, here we go one more time. We're back here. I have managed to round up the most famous dumb gun in the world. It seems like it's been years since we've heard from him. But we finally got him. We went way deep down in the heart of Texas and drugged his little ragged ass out from that damn drilling rig. So we got Uncle Pat with us again tonight. We're gonna do the Ask Uncle Pat segment. What's happening with you, Uncle Pat? Hey, I don't know what y'all doing. Shit, we still here.
SPEAKER_02Hey, let me tell you what I got. I want to tell you, I want to see what I got. Remember when uh John Bland was showtime, was up in uh Downsville, I guess it's the first show this year.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Was you up there? Anyway, a guy had that KP dog at Blanton's KP in Missouri Open Field Champion uh face top three in the top gun, bench champion. I mean, and this summer chicago killing bastard.
SPEAKER_04Daddy the white boy Rick.
SPEAKER_02The daddy the white boy Rick. That's right, that's right. Well, the guy brought him here because he knew, yeah, I forgot about that. So the guy brings him to me, he said, called me, he says, Can you uh you want a down for? I said, Yeah, I'm going on Saturday. He said, Can you deliver this dog to John Black? And I said, What is it? He said that, oh, you know I got KP. I thought, oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. And I thought for a minute, you know what? No problem. Because I knew something they didn't know. I had that good Brentle Jim. I had that good Brentle Jim in my trailer in he that I got from uh Ed uh Tanneher uh in Oklahoma and Ed Barnes of Bird. I'm talking about I'm talking about that one I that one that run them damn deer down, that's bitch fast.
SPEAKER_03Really?
SPEAKER_02I hung that song. Yeah. And I wasn't for sure, because KP, he ain't like me, he's shy. And that bitch will weigh about 75 pounds herself and she's kind of honored.
SPEAKER_03Damn.
SPEAKER_02You know, yeah, me, I kind of like that. Oh, KP, he was a little scared. I ain't nervous at all.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_02You know, little pies don't scare me, you know.
SPEAKER_03That's right.
SPEAKER_02So uh I get the dog up everywhere. Everybody up in towns will come out, Collie, that dog's beautiful. I said, Hell yeah, too, he's a damn bitch champion, you know. Not only can he run, he can he can he can look good too.
SPEAKER_03That's right.
SPEAKER_02Um John, he's a dog man of uh utmost order, but that's what I so I get the dog back up there, and I tell him, I said, hey, I said, I may owe you a stuffie sin y'all and shit. So rocked on a little while. And we went up catching all them hogs the other day, uh a while back before I went went to work like an idiot. Um that brittle gym, she caught a penny bird pretty rank. Anything little than her, she just she ain't gonna bad. And her and little brownie, remember little brownie in my yard club? They had this pig caught, and I noticed she was showing good. Well, while I was going on the drilling reef, she gave her. And uh they was they was under the house and in the woods, and I was like, Y'all caught her there. I'm at work. I want to know what they look like, you know what I'm saying?
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Because I never know if something might have got to her before we got her put up. Oh, you never know about this category shit around here. It's like it's the owners, they like it, you know. They ain't back. So I get them uh, I get home and they and the no, y'all done got them out. Right, Cassie, y'all done got them out and put them in the trailer, take your picture. So I sent John Blanton some pictures. They brindled. But uh, I said, look at that face. That dog man knows the dog. He said, them dogs KP. He says, I want to buy one. I said, man, I'm gonna give you one. Anyway, you know. He said, but I want to buy another one. I said, What the hell I ain't talking about? I mean, we got five. We got six. So uh I ain't even looked at them that good. I don't want to look at them until they get about three or four months old. Because uh my damn, I lost two good litters. I don't know, I'm gonna put this out here. And I uh around here, we went through uh either some kind of shit that the shot didn't kill or the shot was no good. But I know four or five people lost probably ten litters.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Uh and I lost all my Conan puppies. Uh and I know they was given the shot because I mean, this is a good my yard person, don't make no mistake. And one puppy lives. I got one of those puppy. But anyway, I want to make sure before I get attached to them, but you talk about happy. So white boy Rick got some scatterbred siblings over here in Vegas.
SPEAKER_04Um you talking.
SPEAKER_02Because he was gonna be hounding me, you know, because I had people lined up to get some Conan puppies. And uh they Halo Vite tried to buy the whole litter again. He done bought one litter and he wanted to buy another litter. I'm like, no, I said, hell man, we got to spread this around, you know.
SPEAKER_04He's catching the hell out of them.
SPEAKER_02I got other friends. It ain't like I charge a lot for them just to cover the shots and stuff. I ain't no, you know, I ain't no fifteen hundred dollar puppies of those shit.
SPEAKER_042,500.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, boy. Hey, they some people buy some shit out there and call me with some horror stories, finding $1,500 puppies out there in World Gabby, and they want why they won't leave their feet. Well, it's probably not because the puppy, about a 90% chance it's because of the people, but uh you know, you know, every dog don't fit everybody.
SPEAKER_04No, that's a fact.
SPEAKER_02That's why I said them train themselves. I don't I just leave them on the yard and then I find them at the bay.
SPEAKER_04Yeah. And and it works.
SPEAKER_02Some at six years, some at six months old, some at three months old, and uh some some are 14 months. Them old big nutted male puppies, about 14 months on a lot of them, they just lay around here and lay around, and you can hit a goddamn baby down there, and you wonder why this and he'd be and it's always the best looking one too.
SPEAKER_04Oh yeah, without a doubt.
SPEAKER_02I've seen them very be down near me. You know, people ain't got the patience I do. You know, they won't wait till they two. Yeah. Uh and and but you know what? Those always turn out to be the most consistent, badass, badass sum of bitches.
SPEAKER_04I agree.
SPEAKER_02Uh lake starters like that.
SPEAKER_04Yep. Got it.
SPEAKER_02Look at C bitch. Oh, see this if we're gonna run a lake as a horse.
SPEAKER_04I think how old was it?
SPEAKER_02Oh shit, I don't remember.
SPEAKER_04I think I thought that was some of the like oldest shit, wouldn't it?
SPEAKER_02Yeah, he's done been crippled and put on the track for three different times, and never won shit, and then all of a sudden, that's something decided to run.
SPEAKER_04So I got a I got a female I got from from Randy. Uh she's she's three years old now. And like she literally, now she would run. She did it, you know, she did a good debate fan. Uh, but she she was a nine nine dog. She was she was going to be a few. She's just too antsy. But he's going he could be three years old right after. But this past year, he really turned on. And I'm talking about it was like that twitch flip. I I was beginning to wonder. I let a buddy of mine, he hunt, we hunt together all the time. And uh I had a couple of blackmouth curds I let him have. And I told him, I said, take this little bitch right here and and just hunt it. Because like he don't get in their way. You know what I mean by that. Oh yeah. He don't get in their way. He just he'll get out and he'll just walk down that river bottom, just ease around, or he'll ride, he'll let him road and he'll just ride around. He doesn't get in their way. He don't train the dogs. You know what I'm talking about, like when you guys train these dogs to hunt? He don't do that. John doesn't know how to do that.
SPEAKER_02Oh, all you're doing is pulling something out of them when you do that.
SPEAKER_04And and it got started I I like I said, in the end of the end of the summer last year. And he was like, she's really starting to move on pretty good. She was consistently going out half to three-quarters of a mile and hunting real hard. And now that son bitch, she's booking it. She's doing the job. She's doing it. But like I said, that son bitch is three years old, too, though. Not everybody's got that kind of patience.
SPEAKER_02Now, if you don't believe me, you go back and listen to any podcast I ever been on, Hog Dog Nation back in the day, and this one here, DC Doggers, and you will always hear me say, you don't know a hog dog. So that son bitch is in between three and four. Mm-hmm. You you you might be okay, you might have an anomaly, you know, an act of God in between two and three, and you might have a badass year old puppy. I got a bunch of them. I said, I I I I bought I bought uh a dozen collars from Tub Hardman. That little girl here is selling them damn collars. I ordered them through the mail from him, and I still got a dozen collars in there because I can't hit you zombies with the collars on. I done lost three of them, and two of them had collars. I don't know if they got shot or hawk killed them or what, but uh of course it was the best. You ain't gonna lose the sorry thumbnails because you ain't gonna get out your sides and get lost. You know? It just you just ain't gonna know for the most part what you feed him. That's like you can have a bad badass walker dog, full blood walker dog, and he's doing good, doing good. He gets two years old, three years old, he's doing good, doing good, doing good. But he don't ever get cut out.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_02If he gets cut out, guess what? You'll run him, but he won't bate no more. And that's why I I started putting the code dog back to him. Uh so they would say better.
SPEAKER_04You've told me that in the past, and that's what I was scared of was Rick. Yeah. Because he had he's never got cut. And then when we went to Arkansas in January, we ran four boarhogs with him that day. We we wound up putting three of them on the ground. And the last one, I mean, we started at 7 a.m. and it was 1041 p.m. when we picked him up. Yeah, he just but he didn't run all he could run. That was the first hunt of the year. I ain't making no excuses because it ain't no excuses that need to be made. But he had a cut from every fucking hog. And uh and he got madder and matter. Well, he And I said I was I was happy. I said, thank God, because I was scared he was gonna quit. You know, he that he was gonna he wasn't gonna bait him.
SPEAKER_02But but he comes from a man. Here for these people, they don't put they don't put it into full perspective when they get these fox bred dogs.
SPEAKER_03Mm-hmm.
SPEAKER_02They get these, they get these three and hey, it ain't nothing wrong with them. I see some good some bitches, you know, like them three and four hours little feeding drive, puppy hunt dogs and stuff. They don't ever see no action. But a lot more red comes from John Blaston and his shit sees action.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_02It pulls hair hot in them. They run on the outside up there in the north, and them coaches bigger up there, and their hair is thicker, they can take more of an ass with it, and these dogs is catching them. They run into catch instead of running to push. That makes sense. So when you go when you try when you go to try to integrate this shit in there, you gotta go to the man that's catching coach, not the guy that's just winning trophy running them. I ain't saying them dogs won't catch two now. Because somebody's got teeth or catch.
SPEAKER_03That's right.
SPEAKER_02He's able to use what I mean. I mean, the only thing you guarantee a dog to do is two things. You know what that is. He can't breathe off of them. That's exactly right. People do both of them, no matter how sorry the hunter is. But all these dogs is bred about the same.
SPEAKER_03Yep.
SPEAKER_02But you got there's a few little key things in there you look for.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, there's different strains. Can't explain it. I guess it's the strain. Is that what you would think it'd be like the strain of the breed?
SPEAKER_03The strain of that's right.
SPEAKER_04The strain of the breed because it's like go ahead. I'm sorry.
SPEAKER_02These people in these foxpins don't want these codes caught.
SPEAKER_04No.
SPEAKER_02I know very well because I'm borrowed from those foxins since I was a young lad. Because I didn't run a son of a bitch that didn't run the cat. And uh my daddy had a fox, but he listened to cost me $1,400 one morning.
SPEAKER_04Damn.
SPEAKER_02Me and Bobby Tram, we were field traveling, and well, he was doing a field travel. I was running deer. And uh we showed up out one morning and it was cold. And uh we just gonna we just gonna bump him around a little bit. Daddy said, You see some of the bitches now. I'm telling y'all, you know me, I wouldn't lie to daddy.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_02As soon as he turned his goddamn back, I let that once I had head in the backseat out. And Bobby G. Hey, we had a we call we call four, he had his fox pen was almost 300 acres. And uh about an hour and a half, that's something that didn't have a red bird in it. We called 14 goals. And I had to call uh call the trap and hunt. He was mad, goddamn. He was mad. Oh, I'm gonna go. You know, this was been a while back. All we had was in beat meetings back again. So I couldn't chalk them off and he's hey man, you can't call them kind of dogs off. They was hyped up and they get them cows jump behind that hog while they get the daddy knows the shit, you know, just trotting off going getting another one. These son bitches here mashed up to the fence, though. I figured we catching, yeah, I think he'd be catching cocoa now. We cleaned him out. I got bars. I got bars from daddy. Daddy's father. He won't know what I bring into him. God damn he was bad, kicking dogs. God damn, he must have bred bulldogs in his stuff. That's what we got a whole one third.
SPEAKER_03Hang it out.
SPEAKER_02I was like, no, they don't shoot my dog. He's finna kill every dog I had.
SPEAKER_04Damn it, boy.
SPEAKER_02Hell they run his ass back to the truck.
SPEAKER_03The boy that you know, but that was my dog I hunted on the outside and uh they they I would intentionally shoot that dude just a little bit back, you know. Oh yeah.
SPEAKER_02You know, I'm a pretty good everybody says I'm a way better. I don't believe I'm that good, but I put a good shot over there. I shoot them somebody a little bit back so they can pull them down.
SPEAKER_04That's pretty much.
SPEAKER_02And that's when I crossed uh I I had crossed that Okie and then and then Australians is gonna like yesterday. Hey, they didn't know I know their kind of dogs, did they? Yeah, I seen that. I didn't know I owned yellow dogs at one time. I had the best I had what I would consider some of the best blood in the world. I had that Okie Fidokie cowboy bred dog, crossed with a pistolero dog, and a couple more there that I can't really remember. And they was like that shit of rusties out there, they casted, you know, everything I had casted.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_02But the problem with them is the yellow dogs look funny and the stranger around. They didn't they they like they they walk around a look, they wouldn't hunt too good. So Bobby, Bobby went off and bought a Taylor's Osa joke somewhere. And she was winning them hunts in them big pens, big three-day dog, you know. Big old bitch. And uh she just couldn't she just couldn't do it in the little pens because she was getting she was too honest. She'd been running around a lot and she didn't she wouldn't cut across, you know. She she was getting knifed a lot and I think the guy maybe wouldn't get his money back. I don't really know. But he blessed me with that dog. And uh she was Taylor's Osage bread, so that means she was straight liquor. Old county liquor bread dog. And uh I didn't have papers on her nothing, I'm just going by what he said, but that's what she looked like, you know. She came in to heat and I hung her to that goddamn oaky oaky finokey cowboy bread, yellow, big yellow suck ahead of something. And all the puppies was born saddleback, look like liquor bread walk a dog with natural bobtail.
SPEAKER_03Oh man.
SPEAKER_02Oh my so and I'm sending the picture. I had two black cocaine spread pots that look like walker dog, wooden bail leg straight kick, and that one of them bobtail dogs, and we went to New Mexico, bearing. And uh I told that man, I said, These son bitches run any goddamn pay one about four feet fifteen. I said, but it's gonna have to run. And uh I let his dog strike and I put that blanket back somebody to And about two mountains later when we was at that bear tree, and that sonbitch was hugging that wood. Yeah, that man said, What you gotta have for? I said, I tell you what, I said, You done let me come up here and hug with you. I said, You like them two pots too, don't you? He said, You damn right I like them two pots too. I said, I'll just give you the pot, but you can't have that something that's my damn deer dog. I got home and run him a year on deer, and uh I couldn't have no race with him. I couldn't have no like the regular race. He was just everybody was mad at me because he he put a pack of goddamn fat walkers to coal trellets. He'd just searching snack it and gone, you know, especially on a good book.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_02So I put him in a shipper and I shipped him to New Mexico after the last time I think. He was a good zombie.
SPEAKER_04Hell yeah. Uh those, you know, those type dogs like that, like you're talking about, that you know, they there's a lot of people, they they hear about them. They, you know, they hear guys like you that that read them up and you know, and have had them over the years. And I kept hearing about them and I said, Well, that's what I want. You know what I'm saying? That's what that's what I want right there. So so what I'm getting at is like you can still get this type of dog. Well, but you gotta put in the time and the effort. You can't just fucking buy whatever's on Facebook and expect it to be there. No. Like this is a process, and and not just that, like you said, you gotta go to the man who's who's doing it. If there's somebody out there that's you that you see and they are consistently like like Rusty or Wheelbooth or guys like that who's consistently running these hogs or or whatever game species it is, and and they're successful at it, and all their dogs are dogs that they raise, or a line of dogs that they raised and breed, you know, that that's who I'm gonna go to.
SPEAKER_02It's no different than how you used to get a good cur.
SPEAKER_03Yep.
SPEAKER_02If you had to know some old some bitch that didn't come to town too much, that wasn't on Facebook, it didn't sell dogs, if you had to you had to go down there and hunt with that honorary sucker and listen to him and mind him like a child, and and about two years he'd give you a goddamn puppy that he's hoping died before you got home with that song, bitch. You know, that's just the way it was. They didn't let no blood out back then, and that's why I'm so freely with what I do here.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, I am.
SPEAKER_02Because it was so hard to get one. Yes. Well, these good walker dogs, you gotta know some old ornery something. You know, I mean, unless you okay, so but but there is people. You got Lake Hills Kenneth down there, Mr. Paul. I mean, he said that's where the damn black dog comes from, that John won't let me have it, yeah. You know, he's done tracking hands a couple times.
SPEAKER_04That that Lake Hill stuff is that that rusty dog they had is in some of the best dogs ever.
SPEAKER_02If you got something worth the shit, he's probably on the paper.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, if it's worth a cup, that's right. It's gonna have Lake Hills Rusty.
SPEAKER_02I mean, all that shit. And uh I was just blessed to have a daddy that was a dog man way better than me. And he knew everybody that he was a damn, he was a he was a handful, I'll just say that. Uh but I could always get a good dog. But he's the one that taught me that if you want to do this kind of running, you got to have this kind of dog. And if you want to do that kind of running, if you're going, you gotta have this other kind of breed of dog. You know, what some people like, other people don't like. That's right. Like daddy wanted a pack of dogs to run ten or twelve hours. They wanted to lay a blanket over me. They wanted them all packed up. Not my, not me. Not me. I want one that's got it. Trying to catch him. And I want the other five doing whatever they can to get ahead of that stuff with it. Because I catch game. I ain't looking for no plastic ass trophy. No envelope for money. I don't give a shit about none of that. I know that driller rig. I get me up envelope clap full of money. I come out here for fun. I want to see hair in the goddamn air when I turn something loose.
SPEAKER_03That's right.
SPEAKER_02And I really don't care what it is. If they're doing it right. If they have acid, I don't even care if they if they not trash, but they half-acidant. I don't groot around bootlicking and uh, you know, wallering a track out, you know. If that's somebody just putting his nose on the ground, you got the wrong shit. In my book. But everybody likes me. Some people like some to be able to. My dog is cold trailing too. They just can't bark. They ain't gonna bark no whole hell of a lot when they eat it up. It better not. It wasted oxygen. It needs to be trying to catch it somewhere. Bring the bay. You know, when I say catch, I mean bring him to bay. It ain't like a bulldog, but uh, you know, like cat dog, man. I'm talking like cat dog, man, you know, we call two lines today, you know. They mean they treat you some of a bitch, you know.
SPEAKER_04And that's the thing, you know, we've we've done, we went over that a hundred times. But I had a guy, it was yesterday, I believe it was, and he had seen a post that I'd made about a bulldog that I put on there. And it's just a it's just old bulldog. And he said uh he said, so is this a bulldog or what? He said, I raise American bulldogs. He said, and this is not one. I said, no, it's just just uh it's American pit bull terrier. I said, but we you know, he's like, well, why do you call him a bulldog? I said, well, let me go over this. I said, I said, so it it's a it's a type of dog, the bulldog is. I said, that's like your American bulldog. It's a it's a it's a breed. I said, but the bulldog part of it is a a whole type of dog. I said, because there's English Bulldogs, there's French Bulldogs. I told him, I said, you get the gist of it. I said, and mine is, you know, we we call it a bulldog. I said, uh have there's been people for 150 years that's called American Pitbull Terriers or game dogs or whatever, they call them bulldogs. I said, it's just a a classification, it's just a lingo, it's it's a playing term. It's just like the run-to-catch deal. Some people take it to heart, and it's like, well, they running it, running it down and catching it with their teeth and tearing it apart. That's not what we're talking about. That dog, that's a dog that is a catch dog. You know, I said, you know, there's two different things, and and I just couldn't believe. But now this guy was genuinely asking the question. He he was not being a dick. He said, Oh, okay, I understand. He said, I really didn't know. I said, Oh, okay. Because at first I thought he was just being, you know, been asked about it. I was like, look, man, so I took I took the high road and and tried to explain it the best I could. So I was like, you know, I said people just call them bulldogs, man. It just makes it easier instead of trying to explain. I said, that's just like a terrier. I said, do you call your terrier by its name, its full name? Do you say Patterdale Terrier, Yog Terrier, Welsh Terrier, Hy Terrier? I said, you know, most of them just call it a Patterdale or a Jag or whatever, you know, Jack. Yeah, it's exactly what the fuck they all are. I I I let old white boy Rick stay home the other night, Pat. And I brought them little bastards out. I told it, we well, we had one old Moorhog up there, and I said, Boys, if he it's a small piece of property, 800 acres. I said, and we were at the corner. I said, if if he makes it across, it's turkey season. I said, we're fucked. He's like, you know, we're we're we're gonna talk to the game more tonight. I said, but I can prevent this, I believe. And uh I had Rodney send his dogs up this little deal there, went up his ditch, they jumped it. It was 220 yards from the truck, and they were running it, kind of circling it back toward us, and his dogs they started baying at 155 yards, and it was caught at 155 yards. I turned it with something broke. And we had we had some of them little hide terriers, and and they had that somebody stretched out, that poor old hole couldn't do nothing. Black goddamn guinea walk. Dude, they was all over that poor bastard. I felt bad for him. I said, shit, son, I know we you had a bind. I think we had six of them on him. I yeah.
SPEAKER_02You know, so yeah, I I spent 47 days. I I worked down yonder about 10 of my 14-day hits, and I got the phone call. And I said if I had I would go back if I could work by the house, by the house, you know. They my boy, they woke me up, I got the phone call. You got you need to be here tonight. I'm like, oh shit. So I went up there and I put my two weeks' notice in and left two minutes later. And uh got up here, you know. I went to work and I I stayed 47 days straight and uh I want to get her to tell it. Oh yeah, what's here?
SPEAKER_00I yeah, tell him. Tell him what happened. I'll come in and got in the tub and Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Being home 47 days, comes in, eats supper, takes a bath, lays down in the bed. The kennel dogs go crazy. All of a sudden some of the yard dogs are going crazy. He jumps up, goes out to see what's going on. Well, they got something bad in the bottom. He doesn't tell me nothing. Forty-seven days gone, just lays down in the bed, doesn't tell me nothing. Throws his hands up, grab his light, grabs the gun, and it's gone. Out the door.
SPEAKER_04Damn it, boy.
SPEAKER_01The light don't work, the thermal don't work, the gun jams up.
SPEAKER_04Shit, fire.
SPEAKER_01And the dogs are still at it.
SPEAKER_04Still at it.
SPEAKER_02Hey, I look like an eight-year-old retarded Democrat down there in my damn number of crocs and a pair of shorts, no shirt, no nothing.
SPEAKER_03Damn it.
SPEAKER_01Because the light wouldn't work for him.
SPEAKER_02I was mad as hate. Oh, I guarantee them. Well, they was jamming on that summit, whatever it was. It had to be a good one. Because uh laying in bed. You know how many did you have, Danny? You know, a dogman's gotta have his goddamn party, right? Baby don't move. Let me catch his hog, I'll be right back.
SPEAKER_04I'll be right back with you.
SPEAKER_02Don't move, I promise. Yep, I promise. But uh when I got back, I was so bad about nothing worked. I got down there, hey, it's one assuming to eat me up. But I couldn't even see what I was trying to use my cell phone to see with the light. But I it was making it it made too much, it made too deep of a voice sound for me to come on in there in my crop.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, he was grunting a little bit, huh?
SPEAKER_02I put it to this way. When I got eight of them codes on him out there and they're caught, they respecting that somebody, so I did too.
SPEAKER_04Yeah.
SPEAKER_02But I wanted her to tell him I come back up and say, I can't believe you got out of bed. I said, I can't believe at this point you would think I wouldn't. No shirt, just a pants. If a man, if a man ain't lost two or three girlfriends and at least one family behind a set of dogs, he ain't never fed a good son of a bitch. Now I'm a case.
SPEAKER_04Yeah. Well, you already know. That's what Nathan said. You know, he's that right, Nate. Well, he's he's outside feeding dogs right now.
SPEAKER_03Whoa.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, he told me, he said, you got this under control. I gotta go take care of these damn dogs. I said, okay.
SPEAKER_02Well, and it's something it's something I told Ed one day. Ed always had good dogs, right?
SPEAKER_03Mm-hmm.
SPEAKER_02Well, this is just been 20 years ago, so 15, I don't know. I said, but I said, you want me to get these long-range dogs? He already had pretty good long run. I mean, you know, it's a bit ultimate yet. You gotta be a little closer to Jesus. I didn't explain it. He just looked at me funny. We gotta we got up here at Oklahoma, Sunday or something, because they was everywhere they wasn't supposed to be in about 15 minutes. I said, see there how many times we had to pull our hat off our head and go up there and knock on the door tonight. You gotta be a little closer to Jesus when them people come out and they let it. You gotta take that ass seat. You just gotta take it now for a minute. If you take it for a minute, and you show them how them old people how the garment works and how explain to them how much money you spent, kind of keep that dog off her place. And next thing you know, you got the combination to the gate. They find out you hunt home by that point. Got a combination to the gate and uh their sister's phone number and shit. You know what that means?
SPEAKER_03Yeah, yeah, that's right. That's right.
SPEAKER_02You know, it uh you but you just gotta be a little you can't be hot-headed, you gotta be a Christian to to run long-range dogs, and you ain't gonna be very long. You ain't gonna be very long because you're gonna be in jail for fighting people.
SPEAKER_04About a month ago, we we ran into that. We uh we were down at a place and dog kept oh old Rick was on one. He was it's it's the longest race I've ever had, and that son that just wouldn't quit. We left, went to town. We went uptown and and sat down and had a a buffet and we ate for about.
SPEAKER_03I remember, yeah, I remember that did I tell you about that?
SPEAKER_04The old man he came out, he said, uh that we were at the gate and I told him, I said, y'all just slip in there and get him. I said, Hell, you know, when y'all get close, I'll tone him off to see if I can get him to come towards y'all. Well, the landowner's buddy was driving by.
SPEAKER_03Oh boy.
SPEAKER_04Oh yeah, right there on, we was on the side of the road. He said, What are y'all doing? I said, Well, we're trespassing right now. Uh I said, as you can see, I said, but we ain't got no guns or nothing. I said, you know, we we don't care none of that. I said, uh, we're just going to get her dog. Well, his the landowner's daddy came down there and we got to talk and everything was fine. You know, like you said, you got to be crispy, you got to talk right, you gotta have some truth about yourself. We kind of laughed it off. He said, Where'd y'all put in at? I said, we're over at such and such place. He said, Oh, that's in the other county. I said, Yep, he's that uh well how many dogs you got back here? I said, just one. He said, Oh, he fall out of race. I said, Oh no, no, no. I said, I just run him by himself. He said, he's a one dog show. I said, Well, sometimes he does it, you know. I said, but today he's a he's just been showing. I said, we ain't we ain't got nothing at the end of the rainbow. Well, he sat there for a little while. He said, I won't see this dog. I showed him the garment or the doctor that we're using, showed him how long that dog had run, and he was at 37 miles. He said, got one dog. I said, yes. I showed him the time on it, seven and a half hours. He said, and then when Nathan came walking out there, 180 Rick, he said, Well, son ain't but one thing wrong. I said, What's that? He said, I was expecting a blue ticket, the one in a one in a million blue tickets. I really was. That's what he said. He said, 'Cause you have to have a million of them just to find a good one. I said, yeah. You know what he said? Y'all need a key, don't you? I said, Well, yes sir. That'd be nice. Most of that. And so, but me being the kind of guy I am and the way I was raised, Mr. John lives down there. And that's who I was hunting with. So I told him, I said, I we love a key. I said, but you need to talk to Mr. John. I said, he's the one that's got the property I was hunting on. And so, you know, introduced them where they actually knew each other. And he said, Well, that makes it even better. He said, I respect you a whole lot more because you didn't try to backdoor him. I said, Oh no, I ain't got no reason to because I'm gonna hunt it either way. You know, I'm gonna be honest about it. And uh, and it all worked out. So, you know, I've never had any real bad interactions. I've had some people that weren't happy at first, but then, you know, like you said, you just kind of ease in there. Yeah. Come with your hat in your hand, and yes, sir or no, sir.
SPEAKER_02You got that, you got that one in a hundred that don't own the ten acres.
SPEAKER_04Oh, yeah.
SPEAKER_02You're gonna shoot every dog coming across it.
SPEAKER_04Yeah.
SPEAKER_02That that's going to find out he's got five of them acres planted in weed back there because I ain't don't want nobody around.
SPEAKER_04That's exactly right. Better hope I'm gonna.
SPEAKER_02He don't know, he don't know that if he was let me catch my dog, I'd teach him how to really grow that shit.
SPEAKER_04That's exactly right. You know what I'm saying?
SPEAKER_02I break the fertilizers and everything. I don't want his damn weed. You can't hardly give the shit away now, no way.
SPEAKER_04But that's right. Uh-huh. Be the horticultural specialist.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, and I could teach him from eight plants women, but about eight foot. I teach him how to get them up for about 12 of them three foot buds on their motherfuckers.
SPEAKER_04That's right. Have them hanging down.
SPEAKER_02Yes, C be fuzzy, book.
SPEAKER_04That's right. Stick to your fingers. Well, I got exactly we had a qu we had a question come in from one of our listeners.
SPEAKER_02Oh, yeah.
SPEAKER_04From Trey Brickett. He's wanting to know about some hog management. And and I he knows you're the guy for the job.
SPEAKER_02And you know, I always come out of hogs. Yeah. Um, a guy named Utah, I can't say his last name from Little Rock, come back two puppies for his kids for his birthday. And uh he wanted to uh he said, Well, I'd love to go hunt with you. I said, get on the foot, get on the sabotage. He said, Well, I ain't got time. I said, Shoot, we ain't going nowhere. We're going to I'm open this gate and holler. You don't see no dogs right now, but they come. And in five minutes, well, maybe ten minutes. We was baked. At about 300 yards. I said, You want to go to them? I know what it is. It's 8 or 10 old Piggy South. I bail them all the time. He just had to have them for like shorts. I didn't want to walk in there. He said, Well, what you gonna do? I said, When I turn the side beside gonna head back home, them dogs gonna hear me. They know I ain't coming, they gonna quit, and they're gonna beat us the goddamn hell. Ain't no way. Shit. We got up out of the house, super freaking all of them stretched out up there. But they but it's that way because I manage them. You know, you can't put the blade. The only place you're ever supposed to put a knife on a hog is crossing two nuts in the back. But I do shoot, I shoot a few more billions because they cut my puppies. I guess when they cut my putties up around here, I'll shoot them. Uh, yeah, some mischarges me, I will, but uh, I try to I try to keep a good little herd right here. And I got a like-minded fella through the woods, I ain't gonna say his name. But uh I catch his dogs all the time in here. And people says he's got no business being in here. I said, The hell he don't. This is we we we ain't leasing land now. Say this, we we ain't leasing, we own it.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_02So uh I said the hell he, I mean, he can come anywhere he wants to. Because when I go through yonder, I go on his, I go wherever the hell I want to. Because he knows one thing for sure, I ain't killing him. Once I get so far in yonder, I ain't shoot nothing. Because it ain't ain't mine. Once he gets over there, it's safe. And uh he's the same way over here. I'll just find a pile of nuts somewhere. He will do that for me. Yeah, and I appreciate the hell out of that.
SPEAKER_03But so it's uh but I ain't in the county hay business.
SPEAKER_02Now my partner he's in the county hay business. They got them thermals and they ride every night. But them little hogs is pretty goddamn smart. They smarter they smarter than a soul with beast drinking a micelow altar, evidently.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Because I can go down there and bake hogs every night, and they can't find one to shoot with a thermal. You know? Them hogs just know when they go to bed, they don't come out just about three in the morning. You know, them old boys ain't drinking mikelos when they run out about midnight, they gotta work the next day. Oh hogs know that too. I mean, they kill a few in the beginning. But it keeps them running out the field. They don't give a shit how many hogs I got in the woods park. As long as you ain't reaching them home at us.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_02So that's why I keep so many yard dogs running loose. Like if they start coming out in the field, all I tell them beaches will get up and go run them off, you know. So the hogs kind of knows I get out of that field. Oh pretty hog pretty damn small. I'm smaller than most people than all dogs.
SPEAKER_03You know. Oh yeah.
SPEAKER_02So but management and it's it's what you can uh I mean, I don't that's a hard thing to talk about. Like, there's people in northwest Oklahoma on the Kansas line that wheat that feed wheat. I mean they grow wheat for their cow. Well, guess what else eats wheat deer along that Colorado River? I never see so many goddamn deer look like treas out there in the wheat fields about dark. Uh and he wanna ride around with a 20 tree should have been a gun. I mean, if they were just eating the damn wheat up. So but being a deer hunter, I would want to see them like weed. But being he they eat his wheat up, he wants to kill 'em all. So it just depends on what kind of damn business you in. If you in the if you if you in the hay business or grain business and you just got two three hog dogs to keep them running out of your shit, well, you naturally you wanna kill everyone you can. But if you ain't, why in the hell would you kill a piggy cell? It's like these guys that post these pictures of these little pigs. You know, these sorry son of a bitches I gotta kill a pig too. And I don't like it. When I was a kid, when I when I yeah, when I was a kid, we had, you know, we just used the cow dogs and make a hog. And um we worked and we didn't have a stock loss in 1991 until I was damn 20 years old. Um, but we ever had a stock loss. Everybody had hogs and everything in the woods, and you didn't you didn't go take a bunch of hogs, you'd have you'd get your goddamn ass wheeled if you, you know, in a bunch of hogs. With no leases or nothing back then either. And if if one of them dogs killed a couple of pigs, they didn't shoot that. Oh, I mean. I mean, i if they broke anywhere a skin that wasn't a nut fat, he didn't mind them old boars trying to run and them big bigger dogs grabbing them in the nut to set them down, which I never liked that either. But uh that's about the only reason he he kinda liked that, but but if boy, they better not grab no damn soul by no ear or chew behind that front shoulder and all that shit.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_02They better hell no, they better not. Because in the summertime, if he ever punctured the skin on a hog and a fly ever blow it, that's a dead son, bitch, in about three days.
SPEAKER_04You know we bad news.
SPEAKER_02And it's gonna be dead. So many at home, and I don't know why anybody wanna kill ever kill a piggy south. If they got hog dogs and little hogs, uh here's what I all gonna say. Well, a landowner makes me kill a Well that's something that you're with you. I can understand that.
SPEAKER_04That's exactly right. That's exactly right.
SPEAKER_02That's all I'm gonna say. I ain't gonna say, you know, but I I have lived my life by one virtue out of sight, out of mind. You know what I mean?
SPEAKER_04Yes.
SPEAKER_02I don't know. These guys are oh, I caught a hundred and something. And you said, you know what I'm talking about. They got a set of old rough dogs or something, and that's what they walk through the woods with them, anybody can do that. And you could take any, I can take two German shepherd puppies, and in 30 days have them doing that. I mean, you ain't gotta have no special to do that. What have you accomplished?
SPEAKER_04What have you accomplished? That's one reason why I just got like got away from the rougher dogs, you know. Uh I ran rough dogs for forever. And it now, some of mine, true enough, I had a f I had a couple that would, you know, they they wouldn't mess around with a bunch of little pigs. But I mean but generally, like you said, you you get a young dog that's rough as hell, run and catch dog, they're gonna catch the little pig, these goats. And if they're not killing them, they're they're chewing them all to hell.
SPEAKER_02And you and you And they're gonna die anyway.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, now you're wasting all your day your your time. Uh me and Rodney used to fucking argue nonstop. He had Sally and Midnight, they'd be down there in a in a little old cut over chasing a a fucking 30-pounder around for two hours, and I'm like, just call the fucking dogs out and let's leave. Well, they're running a hog about they running a pig.
SPEAKER_02You know, 90% of the time back in the day, we made sounders of some sort.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_02And if they up there busting the sounder, fucking with them pigs, then booth the big hogs is gonna get away.
SPEAKER_03Yep.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, they'll hardly ever now boo shit down there might line up on a big boar hog, because he he he he lines them up to line up. I mean he he spends a lot of time with them. But nine times out of ten, Joe blows from Carrie Crow, his shit, it's just gonna go to killing pigs, though, big hole's gonna flip out the back, and you still ain't gonna have nothing. Now I understand if you're hungry and you got a house full of badass kids, but you don't know half of them who their goddamn daddies is, and you gotta feed them, I can understand killing piggy south then. Hell day, if you're hungry, hell shit, kill all of them. If you hungry, I don't give a shit. I'll break them home.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_02He won't even hesitate, do it. Hell no, it's a bit of a big thing. Oh tell me you can't. Don't tell me you can't, because I've seen it 199 times.
SPEAKER_04You know, in the what'd you tell them about running what'd you tell them about them deer dogs? Oh shit, I ain't gonna tell them what I said. No, you said I think it was a Texas you said you can't run deer dogs in Texas.
SPEAKER_02Oh yeah, game was telling you. He said, You know, you can't be running them running them deer with them dogs over here. I said, Well shit, I don't even have no zero trouble with it. I said, they hang that son, bitch, he's good as cough.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, oh yeah.
SPEAKER_02He looked at me, he finally figured out I I you know, I was holding him a little bit.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_02But I was really telling the truth, you know. Well, I ain't just a lot. I mean, I can't have what that son of ruin. You know, all I can do is take talk when I get a chance. Uh and down there deer maybe might make a mistake. He be tied up. He be you've seen it, ain't you? Oh, yeah. I ain't people people think I'm bullshitting about it, but I have tied up I have tied 'em up. They will basically say I don't think I got a unit right now in the yard. I I had one coming that came up. I had two coming. Uh one was uh uh Conan Bread with uh her dog mama, and the other was uh my bones dog at 30. Somebody can run 30 something mile out of the nigga. Uh he's 50-50 off of uh Canada Scout, a walker dog, and a cur dog. And I bred him to uh daughter off of that big Solomon dog of family. I got me one of them, and she's well, she's not fit. Big like him, big scout kick. Uh I don't know what the mama is. He told me that I got it. So I had one that was black with a blue eye. He looked all curdog, but he was a quarter tenner day scout, which is a some horror track running tent, you know? And they come up missing on me. I don't know if a hog killed him. Remember when I showed you that one you cut down the middle of the bag?
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_02I still got that one.
SPEAKER_03I got you.
SPEAKER_02But the black, but the black one was the red one that got cut, cut for the bad. He didn't quit. I thought hogs wouldn't quit. Uh he died. I was cut. That black son bitch is hello. And uh I had a red ring neck bitch. They was uh they was that next level. And that's how I lost them. That's my fault. I knew I was gonna call Cud and get me another set of kennels. And uh I went to work and I just didn't. And I knew better, they was done about eight or eight about eight or nine months old, but they were they couldn't nothing breathe. When I could ever now and again them toads and hush up and catch up here with them, but they couldn't hold it, and uh they bucked a couple of ankles around here. Nine, ten months old bucking other shit ankles. That son of a bitch is carrying the mail.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, he's he's totally.
SPEAKER_02He really is, and uh I fucked up. I I mean I messed up and I didn't catch them up and put them in the pen and let them because I wanted they were still developing. They wouldn't get old yet. I wanted to let her get them to be about 14 months and then catch them, because I could catch them. Nobody else could, but I could. I done had collars on them. But them kind of dogs, you gotta run a tracking collar on them, you gotta stay with them. I don't know if somebody likes say shot them. They might have swung that say they may be in Louisiana somewhere looking for me.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, yeah, they might be checking on your ass. Fuck, they may be over here looking around. I don't know.
SPEAKER_02I know this. My neighbor across General found out. He had four. And he was raised too. And uh they was like got them coke like mine. His stay missing two weeks, but mine's been missing shit like three weeks now.
SPEAKER_03Damn.
SPEAKER_02His has been missing two weeks, showed up here at the house. And uh they called him he come, he could, we couldn't catch them. And uh but I knew them because I had done seen them before.
SPEAKER_04So when do you start putting them up? Like you know what I'm saying?
SPEAKER_02I like for them to I like for them to get that full a year old, maybe 14, all them big old nut puppies and big old because a lot of times them old puppy male puppies, this is a little female, both of them little females, you know, they come into their cells a lot quicker because they smaller frame, they tighter built, they get around like a goddamn house cat. And uh, you know, females mature faster and all that shit. Them old big nut male puppies a lot of them be 16, 17 months old before I put them up. Because they don't even have their stride there. They running like they running like a boy that's 15 years old playing basketball that doesn't roll to 6'6. You know what I'm talking about? Yeah, you know, he ain't agile.
SPEAKER_04They're awkward.
SPEAKER_02He's awkward, and that's the way them old big puppies would be they so I want them to develop. I want that back to bend, and I want them back feet to come up, I want them front feet to be straight back, and I want them already, them back feet to be up there around their front shoulder, ready to contact the ground and push. And while he's pushing, I want them front ones extended straight out, that back in a bend. I want his whole body running, not just his leg. You know what I'm talking about? And when he hits the ground in his front feet, I want him to pull, and I want that back to be an upper, like an inchworm. See what I'm talking about? Oh, yeah. That thumbnail is getting that full stride here. You see a sandbag running like that? Like a cheetah.
SPEAKER_03Oh, yeah, exactly.
SPEAKER_02You know what I'm talking about. I mean, you just if you ain't never seen one run like that, stay out there. These people's got a lot better ones than I got at it. I've uh They they got these walkers puppies now where they just run real fast. They're bitches scoring twelve, fourteen hundred points in a three hours and a in a two hundred fifty acre five feet. Uh they drifting. They running him like a post suit. If he can't run that, if he can't run a bo like a boar hog, if your dog can't run that somebody's 30, 40 yards off the track and not make a lose, he's not a very good subject.
SPEAKER_04Yep.
SPEAKER_02I mean, I mean he ought to be drifting on it.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, and I didn't realize how important that was until I started running this type of dog. And, you know, because I like we go down there and see where the dog crossed the road, and it wouldn't be a track nowhere right there. You know, it's like, where so then I'd walk up and down the road and I'd be like, well, shit, hell, it's 30 yards down here.
SPEAKER_02Check which way the wind's blowing.
SPEAKER_04And that's exactly where the track is. Yep.
SPEAKER_02You know, I mean, it's just it's a lot of people's wrong. It's hard to answer a lot of questions.
SPEAKER_04But it it comes into being outside. It it's common sense once you put it all together. It it really is. It really is common. It's really easy once you once you grasp it. Uh you got you gotta you gotta let go of all the other bullshit that you that you think you know, and and and just let just let it go. You know, and just pay attention to what what the dog's doing, the dog in front of you.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. You wanna see what a fast one is like, go look at a winner.
SPEAKER_04Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Find somebody's got a winner and go watch him run. And watch him, and bring I mean like, but watch him, watch him to understand. Don't watch him to comment or respond. Watch him to understand what you're looking at. You know, the the Bible says ask for wisdom and it will be given like freely or whatever. But in all dignity, get an understanding of what it's that way. And then you re then then you can recreate it. See a reminder 700, you put bullets in here, you push the boat, and you pull the trigger, it goes off. Take it apart and see why, what makes it do that way. And that's how every gun builder got his start. Well, a dog builder, a dog builder ain't no way. Ain't no different. See why? See why he's a winner. What's he doing different? I'm gonna promise you, them men ain't gonna t them old men ain't gonna give you no stick to what they asked with. I promise you.
SPEAKER_04No.
SPEAKER_02But if you Yeah.
SPEAKER_04No, they they damn sure ain't gonna do that. Yeah. But but that, like I said, that's where like guys like yourself, that's where you've you've changed uh changed the whole the whole game about it because you're like, you're letting some of this stuff get out there in the world. You're sending your dogs out there, your pups and stuff that you're breeding and raising and and and letting other people enjoy it.
SPEAKER_02And these boys is doing better with it than me. And that hell taking it, they're taking what I've done to the another guy that, you know, because I'm I'm 54 now. You know? I started, like I always tell everybody, I quit counting 500 on how many I started. People don't believe that, but I mean, it was 60 a summer, you know. Because I had a 40 acre high fence and and 22,000 acres to run them and plenty of halls. I just like messing with the puppies. But what I mean, people think I was doing them a favor starting their dog. No, I was watching that summit because the only thing that's gonna teach you something is a dog. You watch it and you learn from him. You don't train him, you learn from him. You see, it's like applied science. You put something in a environment, a certain environment, and you back up and see what the outcome is. Right?
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Well, I don't you know, these guys that's talking all this shit might have snapped a dog snapped their league on 30 dogs they born. When I fed 154 in one day, they belong to me.
SPEAKER_04Yep.
SPEAKER_02Counting buffies.
SPEAKER_04And that's it, that's a big difference. Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Studying genetics, seeing what would do this, what would do that. And if I would have listened to my goddamn daddy, I'd have saved a million dollars. If he told me what he told me what to do, he was telling me the whole time, and but he knows something didn't know nothing.
SPEAKER_04And and you know that that's exactly right. That's that's what it it's it's funny as hell because I was like, you know, hell didn't nobody know nothing.
SPEAKER_02Like, shit, they don't know nothing.
SPEAKER_04You know.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, the most zombies don't know nothing.
SPEAKER_04Nah, they don't know nothing. Now I sit back and I'm like, fuck, I I could have, well, and the dogs I'm running now, I'll just listen to what you were saying. And uh I was like, well, I'm gonna, you know, and I called you, I messaged you, I said, okay, well, here's what I got, here's what I've done. And then a week or two later, I was like, well, here's where it's at. And ever since ever since then I've been like, well, so here's the deal. I've had a lot, I've had several people that I've talked to, and I've had them ask me. They're like, You think Pat's fools get about a lot of stuff? I said, Oh, without a doubt. These folks get about a lot of stuff. You know, I am too. And I said, but uh not when it comes to dogs. And like, well, you know, they they like they they want somebody wants to get a dog like it, like the one I'm running now, and and they're they go all over the place and buy all these dogs. I'm like, you ain't gonna get that. You got to go to the stores and get it, and and even then you might not get it if you don't know how to uh apply whatever you're doing, you know. Main thing, like you said, just get out of their fucking way and let them hunt.
SPEAKER_02Man, that's what my daddy told me. And it took 500 that I counted to figure it out. How'd you learn so good to start them, Pat? I said by fucking the first 500 up somewhat. Somewhat. Trying to be in my pride, thinking I was doing something.
SPEAKER_04There you go.
SPEAKER_02You all you do to train a dog is change his diet. Every other day, feed that son of a bitch track. That's another thing. Like these con dogs, he was just mad because I just tell him I ain't got one, I may have one. But because of who they are, not saying they don't know what they're doing, and that, no, that, no, that. I mean, everybody, all of us is all of us is ahead of each other in certain fields. In certain, you see what I'm seeing? Yeah, certain aspects of it. I don't know everything. I'm gonna tell you what, I'm gonna know what he knows if I watch him do it. So I'm gonna be listening and watching. I may be acting like a clown, but I'm holding this motherfucker to make him do something important in front of me like I ain't watching.
SPEAKER_04Yep.
SPEAKER_02So you get over here, and it it's just it's hard to explain. I I'm gonna give it a try, too.
SPEAKER_04Well, like I said, uh all the shit that you that you from you fucking up the first 500, you got uh you got people out there that actually stop and look, and they're like, well, let me let me learn from your mistakes. So that's what I'm doing on a lot of stuff. I'm like, well, I'm gonna I'm gonna listen to what he says on on these things. And there's certain things that I'm like, well, I I might might see it a different way. But at the same time, do I want to fuck up 500 times? No, I don't. I want to take a shortcut. So I'm like, okay, so I just got to fuck up and listen. But I'm also I'm I'm almost 50 years old now, so I've learned a little bit too. And now it now I've got a in the past year, I have spent, I don't know, probably a dozen young dogs out. And every single one of it are making dogs. Like they, these boys are, like you said, they're doing more than I am with them. And they and it's really, really starting to show. And I I was like, you know what? My hat's off to you. And and that's where that the reason I'm doing what I'm doing is because I watched what you done. Because like we come from the same background, the same world, the game dog world, you know, and we really do. And we were raised a lot of life.
SPEAKER_02I'm not I I'll just say this. I'm not a gang dog guy by no means. But when I walked in Floyd Boudreaux's funeral the other day, they hugged my neck. That's right. And like, hey men. I mean, so people know who I am, and that's about it. I ain't shit in the game dog world. I got a black ass counterfeit bulldog if I get around. And tree squirrel. But you know, it's pretty good at it.
SPEAKER_04That's yes, he's good at it. But but like you said, though, so it's like I come from the same type of of bad dogs.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I'm back from, yeah, that's where I learned most of my shit is from the game dog guys. Because they've been breeding for excellents for 200 years. Yes. And for bummer dogs, you know, like you know, not so much.
SPEAKER_04Well, that that's a fact. And and and here's the thing about that, people think like you're gonna turn out all these champions, all these champions, all these champions. You look, the game dog world is a perfect place to look. And here's why. If you start naming dogs, name name 10 big name dogs, and then name all the champions that they produced. Oh, you know what I'm saying? So so if if you if you if you got Zebo. Oh god, son of a bitch. Yeah, Zebo was a bad dude.
SPEAKER_02But Zebo couldn't see. Zebo was blind.
SPEAKER_04And he'll bite your ass.
SPEAKER_02Hey, and the phone was ringing, he ate the goddamn phone before they could get it right.
SPEAKER_04He w he he bite everything.
SPEAKER_02He couldn't hardly walk. I don't went and the phone was ringing, 50 miles, he jumped on the goddamn phone.
SPEAKER_04Yep.
SPEAKER_02You know if somebody should jump on you, he'd jump on the goddamn phone.
SPEAKER_04That's exactly right.
SPEAKER_02And I heard that from a man that knew because he seen it. He's old about 80 years, I guess he's cool 80.
SPEAKER_04And you know, the that that type stuff there, I I you take dogs that that have been bred, you take take Jeep. How many times was that dog bred? My God. Oh God. He was bred to to everything. I don't know. And out of all of those dogs, there there's less than a 10% turnout of champions.
SPEAKER_02Who had who had Jeep? That was that was over yonder on the east of James Crenshaw.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, I couldn't think of shit. I can't think of nothing more.
SPEAKER_02That's just like I was saying a while ago. Like, I won't let certain people have these Conan dogs.
SPEAKER_04No, you can't.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. But but this guy, this guy is a cowboy.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_02And he he don't work. He day works. And when he in between day working, he hogs hunting at least every other day.
SPEAKER_03That's right.
SPEAKER_02So if I let you have this coat in, puppy, you're gonna be mad at me thinking I gave you a plug and everybody else good shit.
SPEAKER_03Yep.
SPEAKER_02Because I have found now to spread these dogs out that if you don't hunt them really, really hard, you really, really don't have a whole lot. But the harder you hunt them, that's the way that's the walker in them.
SPEAKER_03Yep.
SPEAKER_02You you uh you really don't you just gotta hunt the hell out of them. You lay out some itself and he'll he'll he'll turn the Democrat on you.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, that's what I yeah, I'm I'm I'm glad you said that. Because I was fitting to say something else.
SPEAKER_02I'm careful. So so you gotta know the you gotta know the people. Like I like I ain't just gonna let everybody have a dog.
SPEAKER_04No, not everybody needs that type of dog, though, either, Pat. You know that.
SPEAKER_02Well, because it ain't gonna fit them. And not because they don't know what they're doing. But where they're at weekend, they weekend so I don't like most people are weakend warriors. Yes. You know what they need? They need a damn good casting curve dog.
SPEAKER_04Yeah. And that's a fact.
SPEAKER_02I have 90% of people will be happy with my yard dog.
SPEAKER_04Oh, I would I exactly. I mean, the thing about it, if if you get a dog that'll consistently leave your feet and go hunt, all you need to do is get him to the hogs, get him close to them. Yeah. You do your job and hell, you're gonna keep you're gonna be all right, you know.
SPEAKER_02It takes it takes a lot of patience with the walk across it a little more.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Like, you gotta be somebody like Booth. He's gone. He's going all day. He ain't no joke. You know, and I keep using him because I don't know a lot of these younger guys no more. Most of the people I know didn't go.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_02But you can't like, like, but I'm not the let me clear this up now. I'm not the first guy to use a damn July running over. I bought my first one. Chad Bird down there on that Sabine River. He started getting in trouble. It's the only reason he sold her to me. So did me and Josh Sandler. Lemon spotted flag, tail, prudent, so bitch, bang jennifer. And uh he started getting in trouble. I mean, he should have started getting in trouble. Yeah, damn sure will. And and and we pay thousands of dollars. I mean, we didn't pay a loan. He wasn't free.
SPEAKER_04And that's the thing about it. If you if you don't want to get in trouble, you do not need a good dog. Oh no. Because a real good dog that's not like I I have seen more no trespassing signs than I ever have.
SPEAKER_02I mean, I ain't The first guy, Mr. John down there that uh Jake got his old dog from.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_02They they've been putting water through. I mean, I ain't the first one to do it. I'm just, I guess I'm the first one to do it on a broad scale. I guess I don't know.
SPEAKER_04Yeah. And you openly talk about it. That's another thing. A lot of a lot of guys. I try to help everybody.
SPEAKER_02Here's the thing. All I'm telling y'all is I don't know everything. I'm telling you what I seen with my own damn eyes and ideas. You could try it, or you can think I'm bullshitting you or whatever, but I ain't bullshitting you. I seen it. Yep. I I seen it. I seen some sun bitches get up, my daddy done run 12 hours in that fox pen, get up and put the mahog bait down there and find the barn and stretch that son bitch out. And we tie it over yonder eight minutes later, the turd dog coming in and made him tie it up. And you think them g like some bitches just carries a mail. Eight minutes a long time, dude.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_02And Daddy said, I told you. I told you.
SPEAKER_04I just I never fucking out of all the years of doing it. I just I had never seen any that I really liked. I I had one. I had one that was way, he was way more of a dog than Ricky is. And he was he was too he was too much dog for me. I didn't like him because like you said, that was fucking 20 miles. He'd be in another county. I said, I don't want this Raggedy son of a bitch. It's it's different now, I'm telling you. I wish I had him now, though. My God, I wish I had him now.
SPEAKER_02So it's so when I used to hunt the hog tournaments, I ran I ran a 320. This is back in the day. Yeah. I ain't run a tournament. I won that we won that St. Jude's tournament 2011. That's probably the last time I run a tournament. No, one more tournament I'm gonna talk about this because it's gonna answer that boy's question about the big boar hog.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_02So uh I would drive down through there, and uh I had I had some plot dolls, I had some cur dolls, I had some run over dogs, whatever. I'd have about 12 of them in the box. Whatever I could put in that stomach and tie. And I'd go down the road so far and I'd chunk one out. We had that beatbeat and the 320 collar, whatever, whatever that DC was in them days, you know. Before the before the 100. And I had that beatbeat, that quick track 6,000 on it. 218, 270, whatever. And I go down to there and I kick them some bitches out. One is I go maybe a half mile down the road, I kick another one, maybe a mile where I thought maybe long, I kick another. Like putting out a trot line. Yeah. And we go tohead in them some bitches. And we see we found them with that beat beat. And uh them other boys have packed dogs, we be hunting them, and they shit just float there. We start beat beeping to see what the hell they was doing. You know? So hey, you might ride a long way before you got a beat. But we want a lot of shit like that in them days. I ain't saying I was trespassing. I wouldn't say that.
SPEAKER_04Lord is.
SPEAKER_02Oh, yeah. Because most of the time a hog don't run anyway. Ain't no use eight or ten trucks sitting around, or four or five sides sitting around besides a row bull kitting. You just cast to somebody to go on and go on, and then go then come back picking them up like noodles.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Cause one cut them a kid. One a hog won't run for one dog. I made a video documentary that people can run their mouth and shit. And that's why I quit doing shit. Cause I ain't posting nothing on Facebook too much. Because the people's fucking stupid, you can't help them.
SPEAKER_03No, that's a fact.
SPEAKER_02So me and me and Ed Barnes did this to prove a point. And uh people can say Ed don't know what he's talking about, I tell you what he did. He made the best sellers list writing a book about hog dogs. If you ain't did that, don't comment about it. Yep, yep. Because you ain't doing what he did. And uh he's a s he's sharp too. He don't say a lot, he knows what the fuck he's talking about.
SPEAKER_04Well, that's a that's a fact. I mean, the motherfuckers can quote Ptolemy and Nietzsche. You know, it's like if you can't do that, you shut the fuck up. Yeah.
SPEAKER_02You know what his dad did for a living, right?
SPEAKER_04Uh yeah, a little bit of it.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. You don't know a lot of it. No, no. A lot of people don't know. Yeah, that's true. Because a lot of people don't know a lot about the CIA.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, I was gonna say, I know a little bit of it.
SPEAKER_02That's all I'm gonna say. Yeah, his daddy's smart too. You know, he comes, he's bred right. He's bred right.
SPEAKER_03That's right.
SPEAKER_02So we go down through there and I know where the hogs is. I mean, we got this kind of set up where we know where some hogs is. And I cast one dog, Pinky. Off of my daddy's old cat dog, half hand, half coat dog. She goes down there and she don't go 300 yards. I recorded this. I let it go on for about five minutes, six minutes. Running somebody all over the country. Big boyho. Every time they cross the road, we pick up more. We got back down to Pinky. You see what I'm saying?
SPEAKER_04Oh, I know, I know exactly.
SPEAKER_02It's no different than me going in a beer joint. I go in a beer joint, and I and my friend, if uh you don't know my friend is Jay Lorcano, he put it aside, baby. And I go and if I went in there, it'd be David Walker, bigger and meaner than him, and two or three more, some of them bulldoggers from the rodeo. So I'm gonna tell some bitch, you hear me?
SPEAKER_03That's right. That's exactly right.
SPEAKER_02If I'm by myself, I'm kind of paying attention and I'm like quieter than if I ain't with them. I ain't saying I'm finished to you. I'm just saying it's just human nature to be that way. So if you if you walk down the side of the road and you got all them with you and you come across eight little thugs, they ain't gonna tell you nothing.
SPEAKER_04Right? That's a fact.
SPEAKER_02They ain't gonna tell you nothing. But if you shoot by yourself, you put eight little thugs, they're gonna mess with you. You see what I'm saying? But if it's one little thug, he ain't gonna do shit. That's the same way with hogs and dogs. Them dogs scare that hog.
SPEAKER_04Yep.
SPEAKER_02If they're gonna scare him, you see what I'm saying? The numbers will scare you.
SPEAKER_04Oh, I agree a hundred percent.
SPEAKER_02Like, you know, it's I didn't quite tell that right, but y'all get the point of it. Even even trying squirrels. I had a black-mouthed bitch that wouldn't a lad, I I think she was ladder or something. I don't know, she didn't eat black-mouth. And she wouldn't bark on the tree, she just ran up for and put a bell on her neck. I killed more with her than I did with a stomach blowing a top out of the tree. I try to be there looking down at the dog barking at the stomach. The squirrel, I hear the squirrel barking.
SPEAKER_03Yep.
SPEAKER_02And I know, you know, because it didn't scare that squirrel. Them hogs ain't no different.
SPEAKER_03I I like running one I like running one dog.
unknownThat's right.
SPEAKER_02You ever run for something you wouldn't scared of?
SPEAKER_04Well, I mean, if if you ain't scared of, why are you gonna go anywhere?
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_04That's right. You know?
SPEAKER_02That hog ain't that hog ain't no different. I took old Jennifer, that that that walker. She she she she barked just enough to send the bulldog too when she smelled you coming. She wouldn't bark back in bark on track either. She just be there looking at that somebody. If you if you didn't have a 320 on her in them days, you wouldn't know where the hell she was at. But when you get out there about 50 or 60 yards, she could smell you or hear you. You know how dogs just kind of know where you at? And she she would go to barking just a little bit, just enough to send the bulldog. And you better have a good bulldog that knew how to find a goddamn home. But she was you could catch so many rivers by herself. You sit down there, poof, dog. Cause we put the wind in our nose, see the all can smell it coming. You know, and that but the bulldog could smell him, see? You you gotta set your dog up for success, no matter what. You got eight people down there draining beer, talking shit.
SPEAKER_04They ain't paying attention to the wind.
SPEAKER_02Going down through the goddamn woods, sound like sound like two skeletons fucking on the tin roof coming through the woods.
SPEAKER_04Yep.
SPEAKER_02Goddamn, man, you're gonna scare that somebody. It's no different.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, I've I it that's the way it is here. Like the hogs, if if you make any noise, these motherfuckers, they fix it and go. You know, they they they're gonna break. But but like you said, at the same time with the pressure, because we we we have hog hunters, but we don't have as a big population of hogs, so the any hogs that's around, they're getting run. Uh but they ain't managing them properly. No, and that's a that's a fact. And like the the private places that we have, we tend to have more hogs there. You know what I'm saying? You know what I'm saying? So and I and I've had people, they're like, damn, you you just turning one dog loose? I said, well, I might turn two. I'll turn a I I'll turn Rick loose and I might turn a puppy loose with him. And and we bait hogs all the time. If it's just him, I'm gonna we're gonna bake pretty quick. Uh a lot of times, you know. But if there's more, if there's two or three, then it gets to be a little longer race, like you said. And if there's five or six, we're gonna run all fucking day.
SPEAKER_02Oh yeah. You know, uh, yeah, me and me and Brad Sidley, I'm gonna give you an example. Me and Brad Sedley.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_02We got pretty good shit, got halfwalkers, curd, and oh, oh Gary got some curd dogs, little walking in them, whatever can get either, I don't know. But then some bitches will get bays. They all put it solid. We stand over there and it's one of them where it's a uh a cutover. When they cut it over, they didn't clean it up very well.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_02And they did replant it, they just kind of left them old seed ties out in there and let it feed itself. So this some bitch is this some bitches head high and a wall of rocks. You know they're gonna bay in that kind of shit anyway. Oh yeah. And there's some bitch, it's hot summertime. I'll think all I got was a pair of shorts and maybe some some crops or tennis shoes. And I'm thinking, I ain't gonna get hole. And so I told I told Brad, I said, Man, so that doesn't go like 1030. I said, Ain't you got some puppies you want to run? Well, I sure do. I said, Well, Castle said he's gonna make a hole break. I said, Who gives the shit? Maybe he may in a better spot.
SPEAKER_04Yes.
SPEAKER_02Hey, sure enough, man. They went there and made us right. He made him about three leaves of that damn thing. He broke out of there and he came up a guy beside a big hill and he bait, he dung got hot too, so he bait in the creek. We caught him out there, got a 400-pound bar hog.
SPEAKER_04Hell yeah. Worked out good.
SPEAKER_02Didn't even didn't get in no problem. It don't happen like that all the time, but I was like, maybe that's what you're in a better spot. I didn't want to miss what he was start with. We got out here in Carter Stad. Yeah, uh, when we seen this big bar hog and we uh we ate. But uh Yeah, I mean it just it's like dog and simple. People simple. You count on people to try to hunt your spots when you ain't around. Hey, but before I got off Facebook, I proved the point. Me and me and Brett me and Brad caught about four or five big tooth holes. And um I put he put on Facebook we caught him in a certain spot, right?
SPEAKER_03Uh-huh.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, three of his buddies over there tried to undermine him on that spot. Oh hell. Yeah. Land on a land on a rat in the mouth. You see what I'm saying? That's how it goes.
SPEAKER_04Yep.
SPEAKER_02Uh they think, well, hell, it's too late to go now. We're done talking about it.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_02You need to go somewhere we ain't been, you can go catch all goddamn. But they know we manage them too, you know, so that's probably why they did that. But you can count on people to be that way, and you can count on a dog to eat shit and screw his mama. That's about it.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, that's that's something you can definitely count on everybody. No doubt about it.
SPEAKER_02I know I say that every podcast, but it's true.
SPEAKER_04It's the damn truth, though.
SPEAKER_02The only damn truth I I know. And if you brag on that somebody, you'll make a liar out of it.
SPEAKER_04Yeah. I was talking to a guy the other night. Hell, he's an old old trap and trap. He's talking shit about cur dogs and, you know, versus hounds and all that, you know, just talking shit. And uh he was talking about having a cur dog that'll that'll cast deep. And I was like, well, I said, well, hell, I got a couple. I said, they ain't the best in the world. I said, well, hell, we'll come hunt, you know. I said, we ain't gonna talk about it, but we'll come hunt. And uh he said, well, hell it don't matter anyway. So as soon as we talk about it, he said, uh, they ain't gonna leave our feet anyway. I said, that's a negative. I said, yours might mind fucking gonna leave. And you know good and damn well them some bitches ain't gonna leave my feet as soon as I say that.
SPEAKER_02I can I can promise you this. We can go to Oklahoma up there to that kennel, I know it's full of them yellow stone bitches. And I promise you, when he cracks the gate, every one of them some bitches will leave.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_02They will have, hey, I don't know, but I believe I laid in a field out there at three o'clock in the morning talking with a bunch of boys as they was looking.
SPEAKER_04They were fucking leaving. They fucking headed to the Red River.
SPEAKER_02I was so goddamn, he said, you know I can't call them dogs home.
SPEAKER_04Well, call these motherfuckers. Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_04Well, I tell you.
SPEAKER_02Them chickens has been asleep a long time.
SPEAKER_04Yep. Them two yellow ones I got out there that come from that place, they the same way. And I guarantee you, they they young right now. They still young. They well, they going on two. But them motherfuckers go, they act like they 12. I mean, they're not.
SPEAKER_02Well, they're gonna be if they if they're going on two, they're halfway back. They're doing what they really got.
SPEAKER_04And you know, and that's that's the the female. I held her back a little bit because she was she had a few she real independent. You don't want nobody around. She's kind of just me and her, and I like that, you know. Honestly, me and her go slip off, we go back home. I don't we don't need no help. I don't need to help her. I ain't got to show her what the fuck to do. I ain't had to ever do that. You know, uh imagine this, Pat. I didn't have to train the dog to hunt. And I didn't have to train the dog to smell a track or train it how to bark at a hog. I was headed down here to to see what see what they see if they were interested in a pig. And this ton bitch goes off in the woods down here by the house, and I ain't got no hogs down here. You know, we we don't have no wild hogs right here by the house. And this thumb bitch is down there acting a food bark and he carried on. I said, What the fuck is she doing? I said, I fixing have to call this damn dog. She lost her mouth. Her brother's up there in the in the pit. I got a little uh little domesticated hog down there and he's banned the hell out of it. Well, hell I go down there. Apparently, one of the hogs that got out, she went to that thumb bitch and she's down there banned him in a in a damn blow down. Hell yeah. This motherfucker don't went 150 yards off from where we was going. And uh keep in mind I had never seen a pig. It was like 12, 13 weeks old. I said, Yeah, they'll be all right. They'll be all right. I put I put put Rick in there with I put Rick in there with her when she came in a couple weeks ago. We'll we'll see if Rick makes some make some babies.
SPEAKER_02One time we was down on the Gulf Coast, and me and Jake and oh, I might have had two or three of them that wasn't supposed to be with me down here. He was having a I was having a good time and catching home and whatever. And he cast old John, and old John's a whole dog of the highest order, and I like him. Uh some people may not like him, but I don't know what they would dislike about him. Uh and he old John, he tries to cast him straight away. John goes to the left. He calls him up. That's what it is. John goes to the left. And uh me and Jake, we always compliment each other. Like one time he straightened me out that I was in the dog's way. So I said, I said, you know, just let him know. He's at home, you're hunting all the time with him. He knows what them hogs is, we don't. Hey, it wasn't just a minute. That sounds had a damn about a 250-pound big pregnancy in the middle of a field, putting on a How to May a hog clinic. Like a cow dog purple that bitch in the middle of that field. He knew right where that bitch, I guess he smelled her coming through there. And we see we but he don't but but gay, he was probably trained not to bark in the box. So a lot of these dogs that went, they won't say that they're afraid to get their ass to work. So he uh he was going back down there. He he knew right where she was at. We drove right by her. I guess we didn't see her out there, or she wasn't out there at that point. But uh, and that was the best that was one of the best days I ever I ever saw.
SPEAKER_04Well, like he was Ain't nothing like it.
SPEAKER_02No, I mean he was just a circle of that thing. Like a like a cow dog. You know, I like it.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, that camera dog that Nathan had, that one that got run over last year, he was do Pat, he got where he would shit, he'd go as deep as it took. Yeah, I mean, it didn't make a damn. He's gonna go find a hog and he's gonna go get big. And when you got there, his ears was gonna be flipped over backwards. You know what I'm talking about? Motherfucking other dogs. You damn right. And that stubborn bitch, he'd have his tongue run way out the under look like his tongue was a fucking two foot long, and he'd just circling. And I mean, he'd be out in the middle of a thicket or a cut over or some open woods. I just sit there and watch it. God damn, I love that. That's a bit knows he can bear a hole. Yeah. He got too deep one night and he got damn run over. Uh he was four and a half miles as way the crow flies, but it was about 12 miles for us to drive around to him. And we just we didn't make it. Damn woman.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, damn woman over here killed General Lee, ran over, killed my yellow dog, a timer dog, and uh crippled I got uh Ramona I got from triple seven over yet and crippled her in the hip. She still does pretty good. I tell you what, when she gets there, it ain't leaving. She's had a bit rough, but only when this tries to get away. And uh I had some really good that's what them cow puppies is out of.
SPEAKER_04Uh her and a Jew guy.
SPEAKER_02But hey, look, kill the hole, the woman killed the hog, too. Probably told her damn car there was pieces of shit, you know, everywhere. She said, That's told me he told her my car. I said, I I'm well, I was mad something. First off, it's about a 35, 40 mile an hour road, that bitch probably going sent me, you know.
SPEAKER_03Lord mercy.
SPEAKER_02He just people. What about the damn coon dog who got killed up north in the hunt? What the hell's going on with that? I don't know. Have you talked to anybody about that?
SPEAKER_04I ain't talking to nobody about it. I gotta I gotta get on the horn here. You know what you know what I'm talking about? Yeah, I heard something. Uh me and I think it was pineapple he was telling me about one of the boys blogged at Damn the Little Kids with that champion's hunt, whatever.
SPEAKER_02Eric Neely was in that cat, I think.
SPEAKER_04Man, that's crazy.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I think he might have been that cat or he was in that hut. I don't know. I I I try to stay clear of all drama these days. If you ain't noticed, I've been kind of under a rock.
SPEAKER_04Oh yeah.
SPEAKER_00I I mean that's I maybe have a management job and I'm busy with that, you know.
SPEAKER_04Well, that's the best way to be sometimes, brother.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_04That other shit can get you, it can stress you out and over nothing, you know.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I mean, I just wondered about that. I mean, what we gonna do?
SPEAKER_04Nothing we can't do. Yeah.
SPEAKER_02I mean I mean, either they're gonna prosecute the people or they ain't.
SPEAKER_04Well, there's a there's a guy right down here.
SPEAKER_02I don't know, it's getting some shit done up yonder a little bit.
SPEAKER_04They they've been working hard, yeah. It's been hard on there's a there's a guy down here got his dog killed. Uh a lady shot his dog, and and they were in a coon hunt. Uh it was down South Alabama. And I mean, she just killed some bitch on a tree. They were walking to him, him and the judges, you know, the whole cast, and they heard a shot and they were like, damn, that sounded pretty close. Got out there and the damn dog's dead. Yeah. And a woman done shot the damn the man's dogs. She had the dog was still treed, it wasn't even on her fucking property. I yeah, I don't remember that. You know, I was like, you gotta do it.
SPEAKER_02What do you what do you what do you do? These these face these Facebook lawyers, first thing they say, want me to shoot my dog, I'm gonna kill him, blah, blah, blah. Bitch, you ain't gonna do nothing but run your mouth. Man, I don't you you you ain't gonna do nothing. Just get over and be quiet. Uh you ain't never had hot iron on your side, blood on your shoe to be quiet.
SPEAKER_04That that
SPEAKER_02While grown folks are talking. While grown folks are talking. That kind of talk right there ain't gonna get us the legislation we need.
SPEAKER_04Not a bit.
SPEAKER_02What you need to do is come up with a solution.
SPEAKER_04Yep.
SPEAKER_02Because if you do kill us, you ain't done nothing. You ain't done nothing but sent yourself to jail.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, exactly. Made it worse for everybody. Because now we're all a bunch of cold-blooded murderers, you know.
SPEAKER_02You know, yeah. I mean, dogs are born every day. That's the way I have to look at it when I have them come up missing. You know, I I just breathe more and let the good Lord sort it out because he don't miss nothing. He says, Vegas is mine. And I can promise you it will be. It will be. Ain't nobody exempt. So that's just the way you look at it.
SPEAKER_04And uh Well, have you heard much about that house bill, the House Resolution 5017, the grade.
SPEAKER_02I seen something about it, but I didn't pay it no attention because I don't got no power. I don't got no pool. I can't make no difference in it, so I didn't work.
SPEAKER_04It's got a, well, I was gonna say, it's got a damn uh, there's a link that you can go to and basically it just emails your your representative. Now, I'm one of them, I I don't like government, I don't like none of that shit, but we do have a good state representative from from here. He's a local guy. I actually, his his best friend, I take care of their farm. Oh. And so he actually called me, you know, he contacted me personally and was telling us something about it, and he said, Well, and and I really can't say exactly what he said, you know, because you know how all that shit is. They gotta be all kooth about stuff. But he said, right now it ain't got no kind of traction. You know, he's it's so he it ain't made it to the floor or none of that. He said it's uh basically the the the language in it is so open it was about the Greyhound Racing Act. Then it's about any any lure coursing in the field, any field training with any type of sighthound. And then they could they could conform, they could could twist that up and say, okay, well, any dog that runs by sight. You know, so they could come after everything, but they're not. They they've they've already got it to where it has to be amended. So we we made some headway on that one. But anyway, that I just wanted to put that out there because I had quite a few people message me over that. Uh we I made a video last week, and I will have to say I didn't see any other videos before that, but man, once I posted that, dude, there was folks making videos left and right. I've everybody got on board with it, is what I'm saying.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_04And and kind of made a raised a good enough stink. Uh there's a lot of senators and representatives that got emails, so that's a good thing. But Sportsman Alliance is the one working on it.
SPEAKER_02Hell, we've been on Facebook for 10 or 12 years now, trying to get people to quit posting pictures of cut-up dogs, and they still posting pictures of cut-up dogs.
SPEAKER_03Yep.
SPEAKER_02I mean, I'm tired, I'm tired, I'm old now. I mean, come on, man.
SPEAKER_04You can't hold their hand.
SPEAKER_02Quit giving them a stick to beat our ass with.
SPEAKER_04And and nothing. It's over nothing.
SPEAKER_02Like Yeah, I know who's got his ass cut up. Well, it's probably by a possum.
SPEAKER_04Yep.
SPEAKER_02Show that shit up, keep it to yourself.
SPEAKER_04Nobody wants to see them cut up dogs. I know, I know. I I don't want mine to get cut up. Uh they it happens. And so what you need to do is get you a good southern cross vest. Tell them to uh use Dixie Doggers as a discount.
SPEAKER_02I ain't I ain't no better than nobody else, but damn, you gotta, I mean, you gotta evolve, you gotta grow. When an older person says that's not a good idea, don't go to custody.
SPEAKER_04It and and that's the thing about it, because it if you get guys like us that it's like they think we're bitches. Yeah, they don't think no more about it. We we done fucking done, we done been through all this. Oh god, man. You don't know. They they have no idea what all we've already lost.
SPEAKER_02I the the only thing I do other than sit on Flat Fork Creek and mind my own goddamn business is decent over the podcast gate. Yeah. I don't been to no holidays, I ain't going to no field trials, I ain't and I just ain't I ain't ain't because at the end of the day ain't nothing but a bunch of bullshit. You know? I ain't saying there ain't some good people there. I'm not saying there's some good people there, but I'll visit some people individually as I, you know, as the year goes through. You know, the ones I'm on to, and that a way that keeps me from the away from the ones that I don't really care to be around, you know.
SPEAKER_04No, I get it a hundred percent, Pat. I do.
SPEAKER_02And the older you and the older you get, the more you're gonna be like that. I it's just natural to be that way.
SPEAKER_04Without a doubt. It's uh I've done got where I'm like that more and more. I I hadn't been to hardly any of the hog bays in the past year and a half, two years. And I just I miss everybody and I try to talk to everybody, but like I do this podcast, and that's how I communicate with the world.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I just I don't about contributors all I can do. I don't got to be an old man. I didn't realize that the other day. I uh we was moving some cows, um was it yesterday, I guess, yeah. Uh moved up, we moved a set of 40 pairs and one pair and one cow, and you can tell she had her kid, and she kept looking back at the wood line, looking back at the wood line. I said, We'll come back in a minute. She never would go to it because I got 10 or 70, you can make sound like cows, like cad. I said, go over and bell over next to that wood line, and that's something for sure. And I'll catch that cab. If it ain't too old, because I'm 50, I can't run like I used to. I said, I'll jump off the catchy and uh we'll we'll you know go down to that chief fattery, you know, because I got that cat. And it didn't take long. I had a couple of uh good currents with me. It wouldn't take long we had that somebody on the on the Jeep and had it hanging on the side and going down the middle of the the road with old cow lifting the cab and me, you know, holding it somebody's fist all over me and everything. Anyway, that's part of being a cowboy, I guess. I'm I wanna be I was 54 and I still try to be a cowboy. I ain't really, but I still do it, so we got her where she needed to be, you know.
SPEAKER_04I mean, at least you're right, you're out there doing it, damn it. That's the thing about it. There's a lot of these boys out here that's 24 years old and don't even try.
SPEAKER_02Oh, I'm gonna tell you right now, as bad as that cow was, they wasn't finna get out that geek. But uh me and Kevin put a little trickery on her for a second. And if I'd have stumbled, it'd have been old for my head. She had old mealy head, old black body, I wouldn't really worry about her. Too bad. Hey, did you see where my partner J. Burton then was down at the bull riding in Pomont at YBL? Yeah. I guess that was Jerry Nilson's stuff there. Donnie Gay, him and J. Burton together, conversation, whatever. I guess. And uh I didn't know because my ass was drilling rig. Uh and my buddy Jeremy Mercer, one of the best pickup men I ever worked a pen with. He uh put this way, I ain't working no gates nowhere in the pen with a bug bull unless he's out there. So the bull, the big white bull, big horns, big clown stammers on him. He he fucks the boy off right quick when he's right. And he lines up on the boy, and he's he's running. He ain't he messing around. So Jeremy kind of works his horse a little bit to get the bull's attention to like maybe and let the boy fear wrong. And uh, because the bull fighters, the bulls run so fast, the bull fighters can't take struggles to get there. Listen, within a split second, and he's riding a big wrong, big stout summage and horse. He is that bull hits that horse so hard in the side it's like the horse out of 100 grams. And he's been a lot of people laughing, talking about damn big old man can't even stay on his horse. I've seen that, I've seen that very thing in the stockyard, in the woods, catching wood cats. It just happens sometimes. Someone tell you that's the material cowboy.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_02But he uh he got back on his horse and he's okay.
SPEAKER_04Lord mercy.
SPEAKER_02It takes a pretty good hand to get knocked out. I mean, when I say knocked out, look on Facebook. I've seen it.
SPEAKER_04I shouldn't say I didn't see that part of shit. I just checked it out. I mean it. That shit's dangerous though, man. Like, I don't care how much of a Yeah, I don't care.
SPEAKER_02That's why I'm telling y'all, I don't know everything. This is just my perspective. Because I know Jeremy's one of the best that he is. And you wouldn't think that would happen to him, but it happened. And the same way with these dogs and y'all in the wood.
SPEAKER_03Yep.
SPEAKER_02You know, a hall can't cut me, you're gonna be the first somebody to get cut.
SPEAKER_04That yes, sir.
SPEAKER_02You know, uh, don't let your pride over those jazz.
SPEAKER_04They can dance or get a bunch of humble guys it is, you know. Yep.
SPEAKER_02He works rodeo. I mean, he works some he works some good shows. He works I think he works up for High Low Pro Rodeo too, and serious. I mean, he's been around. Hell yeah. Uh if I call him a cowboy, he's probably a cowboy.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, I was gonna say if you do, he's better cowboy than I am. Well, what is that all?
SPEAKER_02I'm all hat boots, uh.
SPEAKER_04Hell yeah. I'm just I ain't even got a fucking hat. I just barely got boots.
SPEAKER_02Well, Dale, you know what happens that way sometimes.
SPEAKER_04I just all I can do. Hell, I've just tried.
SPEAKER_02That's what you get for living with the wrong moment sometimes.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, I I exactly. Exactly. Boy, I'm going through that right now.
SPEAKER_02She's over here finna start snoring.
SPEAKER_04She's feeling giddy, ain't she? Yeah. Well, hell we got. Let's say, hell, we got enough time on this. Yeah, we got hour and a two hours. I was gonna say, we got an hour and a half, two hours on this son, bitch. So I don't know. We probably got an hour and a half. We we messed up and didn't start it quick enough. Yeah, that well, it hell we do it every day.
SPEAKER_02We was politicking in the beginning.
SPEAKER_04Some of it was a little too in-depth for some of these listeners.
SPEAKER_02It was.
SPEAKER_04It was we might have to start cutting some of that stuff out and putting that on the Patreon account. That y'all have to pay five dollars a month to listen to that shit. Oh, we don't need they don't don't know right if we do that. Oh Lord of mercy. That's that's great. That's right. Well, Pat, man, we appreciate you jumping on here as usual. It's always good to have you on here and see your perspective and uh and and always putting out good information, good knowledge, good stories. That's something that we miss out here in the in the in the hunting world. We ain't got nobody to eat that can even tell a story worth the shit no more. Whether it's true or not, don't matter. You just can't even tell a story. It's good to hear them.
SPEAKER_02I yeah, I I told I told her some stories the other day, and she looked at me funny. I said, Let me hold on just a minute. I got somebody on speakerphone for every one of them. And she was like, I can't believe. I said, Oh yeah. I said, You can't make me shit up, man. The good shit, that's like comedy. The comedy is the truth. Yes. Like somebody's up here talking about the crazy uncle, everybody in the audience got a crazy uncle just as fucked up as that. It relates to it, and that's why they laughing because it's uh they know exactly what that subject is talking about.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, it hits home. It hits right home with them.
SPEAKER_02It hits home, and I hope some of this hits home and hope it helps. So I get a lot of mail, like a lot of people say, it uh well that that helped. You know what? I didn't believe you, but I tried it, and over time it worked. But I'm gonna I'm gonna do it just like I was doing. I was told in riddles.
SPEAKER_03Mm-hmm.
SPEAKER_02Because this kind of information everybody don't need.
SPEAKER_04That's right. And if you can't understand it, then you don't need it yet.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, every man, the Bible says every man was born with a measure of faith. Yeah. You know why they weren't born with a Jesus amount of faith? Because everybody don't need the ability to raise Lazarus from the dead. They be raising people that need to stay dead.
SPEAKER_04That's exactly yes. Yes, that's exactly right.
SPEAKER_02So, so how do you grow your faith? You give in the word and you grow it. You give it a little bit just to get you started. And you water it by getting in there and learning. Because these dogs ain't no different. We're giving you we're giving you a seed. It's up to you to go water it. Go see for yourself. That's what my daddy always says. He never argued with nobody. Tell a story boy can tell one too. And then people say, I don't believe you, because all I can tell you is put your boots on and follow me. I ain't gonna sit here and argue with you whether you believe it or not. But you're welcome to see for yourself.
SPEAKER_04That's right. Because some people some of them are just irrelevant.
SPEAKER_02Most people just want to blow the eight to make themselves validate their existence for five minutes, and then they have to go off to something else because the well ran dry.
SPEAKER_03Mm-hmm.
SPEAKER_02If they get out and learn something, they could drink forever.
SPEAKER_04That makes sense. Oh, it makes perfect sense to me, brother.
SPEAKER_02Hey, I ain't. Well, she's asleep. I can say this. It ain't nothing like finding a bunch of thirsty subbitches. Come on. Well, I got just a different. I got just a different to get him a drink. Come on.
SPEAKER_04That's it. That's it. Hell yeah. Well, T and Former, brother.
SPEAKER_02I'll see y'all. Y'all be good.
SPEAKER_04Hey, appreciate you, buddy.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, man, no problem. We'll see y'all.
SPEAKER_04All right, see you. Bye. All right. Yeah, there we go. There's another one, Uncle Pat right there. Something goes crazy. Love him. Love him to death. And uh y'all, i if y'all if you if you stop and listen, a lot of a lot of folks out there think, man, that's he's he's talking some crazy shit. It don't make no sense. It makes perfect sense. It's all perspective. And I and I say that I I've become ri good friends with him at first. I like I I haven't known him, but you know, I've known him a few years, but it took me a little while to to kind of really uh grasp uh some of the things he was talking about because it like I said, it's the perspective of it. You can take it how you want to. And there's a couple of ways that it'll work. So when you take it and you listen to it and then apply it, that's when you'll understand what he's talking about. It's pretty simple to me. So hey man, we appreciate y'all listening. Uh we're we're trying to get some more episodes done and out there. With right now's our our busiest time. We uh got a lot of projects going on, working like the Dickens, and uh trying to do this, and and the dogs and and the hogs and do everything. And uh we really appreciate y'all sticking with us. And uh it really means a lot. Y'all y'all have made this made this thing worth doing. Uh I look forward to doing every episode. Look forward to it more now than I ever have. And and that's I mean, that's saying something because it's it's just it's part of my life now. It's a part of me. And uh without without you guys out there listening, I mean there's what you know, what would I even be doing? You know. So hey, we appreciate that. Y'all check us out on social media, go to our YouTube, check out the Patreon account. We we've got it, we're we're building it up. Uh it'll have uh a little more in-depth stuff, and we're we're steadily working on it too. So uh it's a subscription-based thing. That's where we'll be talking more along the lines of what dogs we have, dogs we have available, if we're gonna let any out, uh, if we have breedings, stud services, different things like that. Uh that that's where you'll check that out. I think it's it's a couple dollars a month to to sign up for it. Uh and you know that that's if you want to support us, that's the main way to support us. Hey, we appreciate y'all. Thank y'all again. Till next time, we'll see you.
