Youth Sport Safety Update is our new Podcast series from the Jacksonville Sports Medicine Program. Our goal is to provide you with relevant information related to youth sports safety through compelling interviews. There are many stories and topics to be shared that will benefit athletes, coaches, and parents as well as athletic trainers, physicians and healthcare providers. JSMP is dedicated to youth sports injury through awareness, advocacy, and prevention. Foam Rolling with Mike Ryan
Foam rolling is not a new craze, but it's time to "get on a roll" to make it a part on ones, recovery, injury treatment and fitness plan. Mike Ryan, PT, ATC, LAT, PEC & CES is author of "Foam Rolling for Dummies" and will guide you through selection of the proper roller as well as express the benefits for muscle tissue. Mike is a veteran of 26 years as an athletic trainer with the New York Giants and Head Athletic Trainer / Physical Therapist for the Jacksonville Jaguars in the National Football League. He will share his practical tips as well as scientific expertise to increase your skills and abilities. Mike currently is the Owner / Operator of Mike Ryan Sports Medicine in Jacksonville, FL and helps both elite and everyday athletes to perform at their best. He also serves as the Sports Medicine Advisor for NBC Sunday Night Football and other NBC major sporting events.
Mike is a passionate advocate for staying healthy and participates in Spartan races. He is a veteran of marathons, road races, Ironman and running of the bulls in Spain.
