Bruce Handler

Too many parents these days are hovering over their kids; are overly involved in their child’s life, and other than working (if they do work) the parent has little else going on in their personal lives other than their kids.  Parents feel it’s their job to protect their children from anything in the world that could possibly harm them; and such parents will often direct their child’s behavior and push them to achieve. If a child has any challenge or problem or isn’t happy about something, the parent intervenes, intercedes, sticks their nose in it.  Their parents also act in a controlling manner by over scheduling their kids.

Too much hovering can be a bad thing that causes kids to have issues later in life and to be un prepared for challenges they will face as adults.  Kids need to be allowed to fall, fail, and feel some pain and to have time to just be kids.  This will lead to having a more well adjusted adult who can handle life stress and not have to rely on mom or dad to bail them out when life gets tough.
