What Lesson Haven’t You Learned Yet?

The reminder to never stop learning suggests there’s always something new to learn. But one lesson keeps passing us by. We’ve had countless opportunities to learn it, but we keep saying the dog ate my homework.

We haven’t done the work, even though we know work is necessary for us to absorb this new learning.

We issue a host of excuses as to why we haven’t put in the time, but that just keeps us guilty of the crime, of not getting off the dime, which keeps our hands free from grime.

In the off chance you don’t know what lesson you haven’t learned yet, ask someone close to you. They’ll know. In fact, at some level, you know too, and you also know it’s time to get a clue, and turn your inertia into “Do.”

It’s a been a long haul for me to open myself up to a lesson I needed to learn, but I’m a student of it now, and it’s a work in progress for me, and I’m happy to report I’m making progress.

But, here’s a lesson I have fully learned: you won’t move forward by going back to the excuse rack. That just keeps the lesson at arm’s length, or further, keeping you separated from the fervor necessary to get past thinking things over.

What lesson haven’t you learned yet? If you continue delaying action by making excuses, you’ll pay a hefty price, and learn first hand what the ancient Chinese told us: “Talk doesn’t cook rice.”

All the best,

John
