How Deep Is Deep?

About 15 years ago the Grasshopper presented me with what can only be considered a wish: “May you never be able to measure the height of your depth.”

It got me to reflecting on how truly deep we are, and how we seem to ignore that reality and spend most of our life in the shallow end.

We have internal resources that sit unused while we continually look outside ourselves for something we can use.

For me, discovery of this deep trove of answers begins with believing there is an answer. Then it’s time to ask the question. And follow that question up with a period of reflection.

If you don’t have a mind quieting practice, I highly encourage you to get one. There are so many to choose from and they all work if you work at them.

It’s when your mind quiets down that your resources pop up. They’re always there but get crowded out by our noisy mind. It’s as though we have the TV up so loud that we can’t hear anything else.

Take the time to dive into the deep end more than you do, and you’ll discover there’s more than a helpless you underneath your pile of residue.

Start to believe in “Ask and you shall receive” and then explore your depth. And you’ll find out first hand that you’ll never be able to measure the height of your depth.

All the best,

John
