Justification Is Your Jailer

Your prison door will remain shut when you say, “Yes, I did that, but . . .”

Whatever you say after “but” will dig you deeper into your rut.

Some folks will justify until they die. And that’s why they’ll serve a life sentence without parole.

We’ve been conditioned that if we come up with a good enough excuse, it will save us from doing time, or worse – winding up at the end of a noose.

It’s easy to spot other peoples’ justifications. It’s freeing when we notice our own.

Start to monitor what you say when someone casts an accusation your way. If you go into justification mode, you’re just further filling up your cell’s commode.

I rarely use the word “never” but you’ll never justify your way out of the pokey. It’s like trying to spend your way out of debt. It’s a sucker’s bet.

Owning up and relearning the phrase “my bad,” is the path towards liberty for any guilty lass or lad.

I’m running out of rhymes here but I’ll leave you with this: Justifying your limitations will extend your incarceration.

All the best,

John
