Dear Santa 2023

Dear Santa,

I’m starting not to believe in you. For too many years in a row to count, I haven’t been able to count on you to bring me what I want.

I’m gonna make one last attempt to believe you exist by submitting my Christmas wish list. If you don’t come through this year, Santa, we’re through.

I’ve given up asking for you to bring the gift of correct pronunciation to professional broadcasters who say the word “always” as “oh-ways.” I know you know this Santa but the word “always” means in “all ways,” not in “oh-ways.” The same goes for the word “pronunciation” being pronounced “pro-noun-ciation.” Oh, and don’t get me started on “unchartered waters” being said instead of “uncharted waters.” I could go on Santa, but I realize these requests are out of your reach.

But you can honor the other things on my list:

For example, I would like you to put a curse on people who always move the goal post onto another topic when the thing they’ve just bombastically espoused has been proven categorically false, and they don’t acknowledge it. They deserve more than coal, Santa.

Also, I would like you to have the people behind the Ozempic® commercials to come clean and admit that it was always intended to be a weight loss product, not a diabetes drug.

And, please bring chimney dust to customer service reps who ask to put you on hold for 2 to 3 minutes to research your issue and then hang up on you.

My next request is a bit touchy because not only do other people do it, but friends and family as well, namely reposting outrageous lies on social media they haven’t checked for honesty or accuracy. It reminds me of what the nuns told us in school: passing on rumors is like opening a feather pillow in the wind. You’ll never get all the feathers back.

And finally, Santa, I’ve been especially good this year. Though I haven’t completely stopped talking back to the TV, I have cut that activity way down. So, the final thing on my list is this: Please have the male lead in all the Hallmark movies not have a three day old beard. It’s upsetting to me, Santa, and I know you can convince them.

Oh, by the way, I saw you at the mall the other day and noticed you have trimmed down quite a bit. Is it the Ozempic®?

Merry Christmas Santa,

Signed, LJ (Little Johnnie)
