Get A Clue

The Grasshopper recently opined with this bit of tid: “Get a clue, it’s not them, it’s you.”

How quickly we arrive at the position that our situation in life is someone else’s fault. That’s certainly true is some cases, but most often, the lions share of blame is in our own domain.

Mirror gazing is a thing of the past for those who first choose blame to cast.

Looking outside ourselves is a strategy we employ to find the culprit for our pile of shit.

Just examine your track record in any problematic area you continually find yourself in. That’s where you’ll find the pattern that always leads you to where you are now.

Finding out how you got here is enlightening, but a mere history lesson. The key to outgrowing the pattern is to interrupt it while it’s happening. And interrupt it often. That interruption gives you glimpses of other routes to take and travel on.

Others are rarely the cause of your angst. It reminds me of a piece of wisdom I learned years ago. “You were upset before your scapegoat even showed up.” It was just easier to pin it on them.

If your goal is to get out of your bind, notice that it’s you who tied yourself into knots by not accepting culpability and start walking on another path.

Not only will you find your way out, but others won’t be subjected to your wrath.

All the best,

John
