Practice Makes . . .

Who’s never heard that “practice makes perfect”?

That maxim looks great on a Successories® poster, doesn’t it? But in real life it’s less than perfect.

Truth be told, practice makes habitual. If you’re practicing the wrong thing, you’re building a habit that doesn’t serve you. And god forbid if you practice it long enough, it turns into a belief, one that you have no evidence for.

Practice, when used wisely, produces incremental, desirable results.

When I conducted weight loss seminars, I would caution folks that you didn’t put all that weight on overnight and you’re not going to lose it in that time frame either.

Incremental is measurable, but it takes more patience than many people can’t muster.

Maybe we can come up with a new maxim: How’s this sound? “Incremental gets results!”

If you practice incremental, not only will you increase your results, you’ll increase your patience as well and make it habitual.

All the best,

John
