Lost In Thought
We all get lost in thought from time to time. The difficulty for many is finding their way out of “Thought-ville.”
The first thing that’s gotta happen before we can escape our thoughts is to notice we’re trapped by them. That means to notice when you’re lost in thought.
Just the act of noticing is a break in the train of thought which can lead to an exit.
Perhaps you believe you’re “thinking things over” when consumed by thought. Yes, yes you are. You’re thinking the same thing over and over again. Your mind is on repeat cycle, just like a bad song on your smartphone.
When you’re lost in thought, you aren’t getting any new ones, just the same old song you could die a happy death if you never heard again.
Anyone’s life would improve if they would start noticing when they’re lost in thought. That break in the action makes a space for a new thought to enter, one you would have never gotten without the act of noticing.
Noticing your mind at work leads to new thoughts, which reveal new options, ones we were unaware that were available.
