I’m Doing This Now

Here’s a little phrase that will interrupt your thinking and allow you some quiet time in your mind: “I’m doing this now.”

When you catch yourself in a thought loop (thinking the same thing over and over again), utter or think the phrase, “I’m doing this now” and give all your attention to what you’re physically doing. It will interrupt your pattern of thinking and allow some space in your mind for a sense of presence that will be more sublime.

One of the biggest myths we’ve bought into is that we are our thoughts. We are separate and apart from our thinking machine. To prove this ask yourself this question: “Who would I be without my thinking?” No matter the answer, you will come up with another option of who you are. You are what’s left after you subtract thinking. The authentic you is a state of presence where words and labels are absent.

If you would like more presence in your life, interrupt your thinking more often.

Go ahead and do this now, and enter a state of presence which can be described in one word: “Wow!”

All the best,

John
