Your Body Feels—Your Mind Talks About It
Here’s something we don’t talk about enough: Your body is the one experiencing life. Your mind just narrates.
Your body feels everything—every hour, every day, even when you sleep. There’s no break from feeling because that’s what it means to be alive. Your mind, on the other hand, is just trying to make sense of those feelings. But here’s the catch: feelings don’t always fit neatly into words.
Your mind tries to label what you feel—turning it into a “this means that” story. The problem? Words hit differently for everyone. What makes sense to you might not translate to someone else. That’s why over-explaining yourself often means you’re avoiding the actual feeling.
We tend to think that if we can explain a feeling, we can get rid of it. But if that worked, no one would ever feel sad after talking things through.
Instead, try this:
Next time you have a strong feeling, don’t analyze it. Don’t explain it away. Just notice where it shows up in your body and sit with it. No commentary. No story. Just presence.
This simple practice helps process emotions way faster than overthinking ever could.
