You Rent Until Own It

Ever notice how easy it is to talk a good game? We’ve all done it. You say the right things, maybe even hand out advice like candy on Halloween. But deep down . . . you know you’re not really living it. That’s what I call “renting.” You’re just borrowing the words.

It’s like this: if you’re talking about something — a belief, an idea, a principle — but not actually living it, then you’re just renting that truth. You don’t own it yet.

So ask yourself — what do you say over and over, but never actually deliver on? That’s your rental agreement right there.

Did you ever give someone advice and feel kind of empty afterward? The words were fine. They sounded good. But they didn’t come from a place of experience — that deep-down knowing. That’s because you haven’t bought in yet. You don’t own it.

Ownership — real ownership — means doing it. Living it. Putting it into action before you speak it. That’s when your words actually carry some weight. Write that “Get Rich Quick” book after you’re wealthy, not before.

So here’s the test: What do you claim to believe in . . . but can’t show any proof of? No receipts. No action. No follow-through. That’s a rented idea — and rented ideas don’t build strong foundations.

Anyone can talk. But if you really want to own your words? If you want them to matter? You’ve gotta do the thing first.

Bottom line? Stop renewing those old rental agreements. The ones where you say it, but don’t live it. Tear 'em up. Take action. Buy in.

Because once you do . . . you’ll be worth listening to.

All the best,
 John
