You’re Smarter Than Your Thinking
Here’s today’s quick thought: you’re not as smart as you think. You’re actually smarter.

Sounds like a contradiction, right? But here’s what I mean. Thinking — the rational, logical kind — it’s slow. It takes time. And it can actually get in the way of what you already know deep down.

Now don’t get me wrong — thinking has its place. It helps us sort facts, weigh options, make sound decisions. But when it comes to those breakthrough moments? The flashes of insight? More often than not, those don’t come from logic. They come from something faster — a feeling. A sense. A hunch.

Think about it: how many scientific discoveries or solved crimes started with a gut feeling? A quiet “something’s off here” or “this might be worth checking out”? Those weren’t conclusions someone thought their way to — they felt it first. Then they used their thinking to back it up.

That’s how we’re wired. We sense things first. It’s primal, physical — a full-body knowing that shows up before we can explain it with words. But what do we usually do? We ignore it. We go right back into our slow, careful, overthinking mode.

Here’s the God’s honest truth: your body has its own raw intelligence. It’s unfiltered. It’s fast. And it’s usually right — if you give it room to speak. But when your mind is jammed up with constant thinking, that hunch can’t get through. It knocks and knocks, but the TV’s up too loud and you don’t hear it.

So, here’s the challenge: find a way to quiet your mind. I’m not talking about numbing out or zoning out — I mean clearing space

Meditation, a walk, breathing — whatever works for you. Because once you make a little room, your natural intelligence starts to bubble up. That’s when the solutions come.

Bottom line? Don’t let your smarts get in your way. Just press pause on all the overthinking, long enough to let your gut — your deeper knowing — come through.

You might be smarter than a fifth grader. But you’re way smarter when you stop thinking so much.

All the best,
 John
