How To Tap Inspiration On The Shoulder

Are you waiting for inspiration? There's no need to wait. Inspiration comes on the heels of a beginning.

The key is to begin something and watch your inspiration start to take shape.

Seriously—just begin. Take that first step, however small, and watch what happens. Inspiration has a funny way of showing up once it sees you're already in motion.

We’ve been sold this myth that inspiration is some magical lightning bolt that hits us from out of the blue. That’s rare. It’s more like a shy friend—hanging back until you make the first move.

Inspiration seems to gravitate towards action. I'm guessing here, but I suppose that's why “couch potatoes” lack inspiration. They're waiting to be inspired rather than coaxing it to come out by physically moving out of their comfort zone –  more commonly known as a rut.

Inspiration loves movement. It loves action. It does not love the couch or the Lazy-Boy . So if you’ve been stuck in your comfort zone, maybe it’s time to shake things up a bit. Stretch. Step out. Do something. Anything.

Take action first. That’s when the ideas start to flow. That’s when the spark turns into a flame.

If you wait to start, you'll be waiting forever for inspiration.

If you truly want inspiration, generate some perspiration and start something.

That’s how you tap inspiration on the shoulder.

All the best,

John
