Here We Are

It seems, most of the time, we’re making a case—sometimes silently, sometimes aloud—against where we actually are. We’re so busy thinking about where we should be, or where we wish we were, that we hardly stop to really see where we are.

And that . . . causes all kinds of frustration. False starts. Missteps. A sense that life is just slipping past us.

But there’s a simple phrase—almost like a mantra—that can bring us back: Here we are. Or even more personally: Here I am.

Try it. Say it to yourself or aloud.

It’s grounding. It brings you into the present—where, let’s face it, you always are. This is the starting point. This is where everything happens. But if you’re not truly here—if you’re only living in your head—then life becomes a thought exercise instead of a lived experience.

If you want life to feel more real . . . start by noticing. Just stop for a moment, and feel where you are.

Because you can’t really be anywhere else. And when we resist that truth, we end up holding life at arm’s length. Thinking about living . . . instead of actually living.

Wherever you are in life—whatever that looks like—that’s your current station. It’s not better, it’s not worse. It’s just real. And when you fully acknowledge that, that’s when you get the power to choose what’s next.

But if you try to move forward while denying where you’re standing, you’re more likely to fall off a cliff than find your footing.

Sure, daydreams have their place—just like theme parks do. But try living in one 24/7, and suddenly, the rides get old. And a steady diet of cotton candy? It doesn’t exactly nourish the soul.

So here’s the real: when you return to the here and now, you reconnect with life itself. You can’t live in the past. You can’t live in the future. And you definitely can’t live in your imagination.

A richer, more meaningful life begins right here—right now. Notice your location. Feel your feet on the ground. That’s when the real path forward begins to reveal itself.

Because a real tomorrow?

It always starts... with a very present today.

All the best,
 John
