It takes a lot of memory and energy to lie. Mark Twain famously said, “If you tell the truth, you don’t have to remember anything.” Keeping track of those fabrications will wear you out.

Some of the biggest lies we tell are the fairy tales about who we are. We make up the person we want the world to see, and keeping that façade alive saps our energy.

This misuse of energy interferes with our ability to create. We use the lions share of it to prop up this puppet we claim to be us, and leave little verve to do what we were designed to do: Create.

Growing up I remember hearing, “We are created in the image and likeness of God.” I took that to mean God is a creator. And creation takes lots of energy because even he had to rest on the seventh day, as the story goes.

So if we use our energy to keep our lies alive, we limit our ability to create.

So here’s an incremental program you can use that will free up more energy for creating. Start removing the lies from your life one-by-one and watch your creativity shine like the sun.

Think of these lies as a bunch of bumper stickers you see on cars. Side Note: Have you ever seen a car you’d want to drive loaded with bumper stickers? Me either.

And don’t try and eat a whole cow at once; remove these stickers in stages. Retire one lie at a time and before too long, you’ll reclaim your energy. And now you can use that new found spark to spark your creativity.

All the best,

John
