Are You Pretending?

Let me ask you something: Are you pretending?

If you’ve ever preached a philosophy like it’s the gospel truth—but don’t actually live it—then yeah . . . you’re pretending.

We’ve all seen it, right? That devout someone who quotes “Love thy neighbor” but trashes theirs on the church steps.

Philosophy is make believe until you own it.

We all live in a world of make believe from time to time, and like children, we don’t want to leave that theme park.

But here’s where it gets real: It’s easy to spot other peoples' hypocrisy. It's eye-opening when you spot your own.

You’re pretending if you give advice you wouldn’t take. You're pretending if you think life fixes itself without any effort. You're pretending when you preach what you don't practice.

So ask yourself: What are you pretending about?

That question alone can snap you out of the fantasy and bring you back to reality—where philosophy is forged in experience, not just words.

The point is: When you live your philosophy, you don’t need to sell it. It sells itself.

Because real experience doesn’t come from scrolling Amazon or quoting bumper stickers or Bible verses. It comes from owning it.

How do you do that?

Start here: Tell the truth.

Next time you feel a lie about to slip from your lips—even a small one—just pause.

That pause? It’s powerful. It resets you. It points you back to zero.

From there, you can speak honestly. Not hype. Not spin. Just your actual experience.

That’s where your true philosophy lives. That’s where life gets real.

So . . . Are you done pretending?

Because the moment of truth begins when pretending ends.

Are you ready to be the next person who tells the truth?

All the best,

John
