Quench Your Thirst In The Present

Ever notice how most big events don’t live up to the hype? We expect them to bring the juice — the thrill, the meaning — but they rarely deliver enough to sustain us. So we chase the next one.

But here’s the raw truth: what sustains us isn’t the event — it’s the moment.

The Grasshopper nailed it years ago: “A successful life is made up of successful moments,” not a string of shiny events.

And the only moment we can actually live in is right now. Once that sinks in, we stop waiting for something big to rescue us, and we start focusing on the moment in front of us — the real juice of life.

We’re standing in an orange grove, but we keep looking for some artificial concentrate that’ll never satisfy us. That’s the trap of chasing events — empty glasses that never fill.

Go for the gusto, sure — just don’t make events your salvation. The Grasshopper warned: “When your life is a way station between events, you have no life.”

People often say the happiest days were in the past. That may be true — but if you knew them back then, you’d probably see they didn’t realize it at the time. Now they’re trying to relive those days — and that only brings longing, not living.

Looking forward or back for life? That’s a sure path to thirst. You’re standing at an oasis, dreaming of a raindrop.

Your moments have to be current events to quench your thirst.

Bottom line? WOW only happens now.

All the best,

John
