Limited Vision

Years ago, I got a visit from The Grasshopper — and he left me with this: “Vision is limited by words.”

It stuck with me.

A vision, by definition, is something you see — but when we try to wrap it in words, It’s not easy. Even if you’re good with words, it’s still a challenge to capture the whole picture.

It reminds me of something I did a while back.

I volunteered to read the Sunday comics aloud — for the blind. And let me tell you — it wasn’t just reading the words in the speech bubbles. You had to describe everything: who’s in the frame, what they’re doing, where they are, how they look, and why it matters.

Try it sometime — seriously. Read the comics out loud and explain the pictures without showing them. You'll feel, firsthand, how hard it is to turn a picture into words.

Now think about this in terms of your own vision — not eyesight, but a dream, an idea, a future you see in your mind. You can try to explain it right away. But it might come out flat — because the words aren’t ready yet.

The first step? Don’t talk about your vision — feel it. Step inside it. Walk around in there for a while.

Let it move you. Because once you feel something deeply, the words will follow. And those words will have weight — they’ll carry more than just meaning. They’ll carry momentum.

If your heart’s not in it, the message won’t land. People won’t see what you see.

Here’s the bottom line: Having a vision is one thing. Communicating it — that’s another. That takes sweat. It takes effort, attention, and sometimes a few failed tries to get it right.

And here's a real-world fact: Your vision dies with you — unless you bring it to life.

If it really matters to you, it won’t stay an idea for long. You'll Move. You'll act.

If not, then maybe it wasn’t a vision after all. Just a passing thought — some mental window-shopping.

So if you’re just talking about your vision and not doing anything with it — guess what? You’re being limited by your words.

You’ll have something to say, for sure — but not much to show for it.

All the best,

John
