What’s Possible?

Here’s a question The Grasshopper asked me one morning. What tiny piece of creativity is itching to get out of you?

Oh, in case you're wondering—The Grasshopper? That’s just my name for that part of you that drops those surprising little insights on you, seemingly from out of the blue.

Anyway, I’ve come to realize: everybody’s creative. You, me, all of us. We create all the time. But a lot of our creativity never sees daylight. We hold it back, and we do that by filling our heads with all the reasons we can’t.

When your focus is on “not able,” it’s like putting up a wall. Creativity has to work a lot harder to squeeze through.

So, what is it you’ve convinced yourself you can’t do? And I’m not talking about becoming a world-class ballerina or an Olympic swimmer. But outside of those lofty desires, there’s a whole world of things we actually can do—if we stop locking them away.

Here’s a little experiment: start asking yourself, “I wonder what’s possible?”

Make asking that question part of your daily routine and ask it often. Our subconscious minds love working with questions.

The answers don’t usually pop up right away—that’s the conscious mind’s demand, and it rarely gets what it wants. But that quieter part of you? It’s always working in the background. It just needs a little something to chew on.

So, give it reminders. Write “What’s possible?” on a sticky note. Put one on your nightstand, your bathroom mirror, your fridge, your dashboard. Even tuck one in your wallet or purse. Surround yourself with possibility.

Because here’s the secret: asking opens the door. And the more you ask, “I wonder what’s possible?” the more you’ll notice your creativity flowing—and your notion of “not able” becomes an outdated fable.

All the best,

John
