What Is the Ultimate Feeling?

Let’s not beat around the bush. For me, the ultimate feeling is being loved.

There’s just nothing that compares. It’s in a class by itself. You could pile up every other feeling in the world, and they still wouldn’t come close to the sensation of being loved.

If you doubt that, just watch what happens when even the toughest, stone-faced person is greeted by a cuddly puppy. They melt. And what are they feeling in that moment? Pure love.

There’s actually a therapeutic side to it too. Science tells us that during a meaningful hug, the body releases oxytocin—what they call “the love hormone.” That warmth you feel isn’t just in your imagination.

Of course, we’ve all been on the other side of it too. Times when we felt unloved. I’ve been there, and I bet you have too.

So what do we do then? We can’t always run down to the local puppy rescue and soak up slobbery affection—though it’s tempting. Instead, here’s the good news: there’s a part of you that loves you, all day, every day.

It’s like a reservoir of self-love that you can tap into anytime. Here’s how:

First, trust—on faith—that this part of you exists. It loves you no matter what.

Second, notice it and then feel it.

When you do, the old “nobody loves me” script loses its grip, and you can sink back into that warm, familiar feeling of being loved.

Because here’s the scientific reality: there is a part of you able to produce that feeling at all times. And once you tune into it, you’ve got access to all the comfort you need—even if the puppy’s asleep.

All the best,

John
