Karma – You’ll Get Yours

Karma, as I understand it, is simple: You cause what happens to you.

Good day or bad day, what shows up is our karma. And yes, we’re the ones who cause it.

Some folks think it’s their job to hand out karma. I’d agree—if you’re the parent of a small child or, sadly, the executioner in a Texas prison. Beyond that, I think karma has its own delivery system.

I can’t prove it, but I doubt anyone leaves this world without getting their fair share of karma—meted out not by people, but by a force that makes sure the books get balanced.

It’s not just a spiritual concept. Newton said it best: “Every action has an equal and opposite reaction.” Sounds to me like science describing karma.

Sure, we’ve seen karma catch up with the likes of Osama Bin Laden or O.J. Simpson. But when it comes to greedy financiers who tanked the economy and still live large, it’s harder to see. I’d like to say with certainty they’ll get theirs—I can’t. But I believe motion will catch up with them.

I’ve lived long enough to know I don’t get away with anything. Karma keeps excellent records. So yes, call out bad behavior—but leave the punishment to karma. It’s already in the pipeline.

You can call karma spiritual nonsense if you want, but you can’t deny the laws of motion. I think they’re one and the same.

And when I forget that, I hear that famous bus driver, Ralph Kramden, ringing in my ear: “You’ll get yours.”

All the best,

John
